OSX Server logs many messages like "Feb  7 07:28:15 johns-imac com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[508] (com.akamai.client.plist[44186]): assertion failed: 13B42: launchd   102012 [C35AEAF6-FCF6-3C64-9FC8-38829064F8A8]: 0xd"  What is wrong?

When Server is running, the computer on which Server runs has problems accessing a shared drive connected to that computer.  This problem started when Server started logging messages like the following.
Feb  7 07:32:57 johns-imac com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[508] (com.akamai.client.plist[44806]): assertion failed: 13B42: launchd + 102012 [C35AEAF6-FCF6-3C64-9FC8-38829064F8A8]: 0xd
Feb  7 07:32:57 johns-imac com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[508] (com.akamai.client.plist): Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds
The problem goes away when Server is not running and disk sharing is handled by Mac OSX 10,9.1 client.
What can one do to correct this issue with Server?

I forgot to write down my computer specs:
iMac 27 Mid 2011
2.7 GHz Intel Core i5
4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512 MB
OS X 10.9.2

  • What is this file, what does this mean "com.apple.ImageCaptureNotifications.DeviceDiscoveryDatabase.501"

i compressed a file which is "com.apple.ImageCaptureNotifications.DeviceDiscoveryDatabase.501" to zip still couldn't open it and it is not possible to permanently delete it, so what is it? which folder does it belong to? how could i have gotten it?

My guess by the name is that it is a database of image capture notifications for the first user of the Mac (501).
If it is a database, it would likely open with sqlite3. If you don't know anything about databases, then just opening it with sqlite3 won't get you far.

  • HT3204 I got a reading of "secure link to iTunes store failed" when I ran a diagnostic "network connectivity" test. What's wrong and how do I fix it? I am indeed unable to connect to the store.

  • Have new iMac with iPhoto sharing turned on. When the shared library is clicked the library disappears or starts to load then disappears? What is wrong?

Have new iMac with iPhoto sharing turned on. When the shared library is clicked the library disappears or starts to load then disappears? What is wrong?

Try this:  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists. If it doesn't then your current library is damaged and needs repair.
Therefore  make a temporary, backup copy (select the library and type Command+D) and  apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
If you experience the same problem with the test library then try this basic fix a try:  make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
If that fails a reinstall of iPhoto is indicated. To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/  folder,
Then install iPhoto from the source it came on originally.

  • Server Log Confusion (message meanings)

I realize that there are several pieces to this whole LiveCycle thing, but I and my colleagues find the robustness of the server log files somewhat overwhelming and extremely daunting.  I am not even sure what question to ask or how to ask it.  Basically I would like a list or a link to the descriptions and troubleshooting guides for the various modules/statements/messages that can appear in the server log.  Some are rather easy to interpret, understand, and figure out.  BUT, many of them are worse than reading Latin especially those that reference a STACKTRACE.  Even a high-level breakdown of some of the more common things.  Just about any help would aid us.  Attempting to search Adobe or even the web for specific entries with the specifics stripped out produces few is any sound results.
I apologize if this seems like I am venting.  Some of it may be just that but I can not believe that I/we am the only one confused by the server log.

I found that one and it is useful to an extent but only if the log entry has one of those codes and if the code is in that file.  It seems that 90% of the log entries I am dealing with do not have any of those codes.  This may mean that they are specific to LiveCycle but related to one of the other tools used by LiveCycle (i.e., JBoss).  I do not know and that is part of my frustration.

  • Firefox won't download in my brand-new iMac Mountain Lion. The icon never appears on my desktop so I can't move it into applications and use it. What's wrong?

I've clicked the "Download" link several times and the only thing that apparently happens is a little blue blip zipping toward the upper right corner of the screen. The icon to move into "Applications" never appears.

Make sure that Firefox gets installed properly.
Open the Firefox disk image (DMG) file and drag the Firefox program to the application folder on your hard drive.
You shouldn't double-click the Firefox application to run it from the disk image, but drag it out of the DMG folder instead.

    Hello Infinityandink,
It sounds like your phone will intermitently try and boot, but unexpectedly shuts off at the Apple symbol. I have done some research and found this article for you to help with the issue named:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2802
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,

  • What is wrong with my computer?

About a month ago, my early 2008 iMac running Snow Leopard bega getting really slow. Excruciatingly slow. Unusable. Constant beachballing. The only way to quit anything is to force quit it. I feel like I've tried eveything at this point with no success. I have run disk utility countless times, zapped the PRAM, started in safe boot,  run Applejack, run Preferential Treatment, zeroed out the drive and reinstalled the OS like three times. I pretty much always have Activity monitor open these days and I rarely use more than 3/4 of the RAM, so I don't think this is a resource issue. I took it to the Apple store and they determined that there's nothing wrong with the hardware, so I'm sure that there's something lurking somewhere that's causing all these problems.
My theory right now is that there's something in my music folder that is the root of all this. I think this because after my last reinstall, I had it working rather painlessly. Since my iTunes library is rather large, I set it to copy back from the Time Machine back up and went to bed. The next morning, I was right back where I started. So, my question is now: Does this theory even make any sense? Is it possible that a corrupt .mp3 or .m4v or whatever is having these system wide effects? Maybe if my library was corrupt? If that even could happen, how would you go about determining what file was the culprit? Keep in mind that I have around 100 GB of data in iTunes, so dropping the files in one by one would not rally be an option. I would also like to retain my playlists if possible, as a few of them are really sweet.
Any help you all can give would be really appreciated, I'm basically at my wit's end and I don't want to call Apple Care again.

OK, here's what we get from Console. This is from after the first hang after I had to restart the machine using the power button.

  • Mac OSX Server Issue

    Hello Everyone,
Hope someone can help me figure this situation out. I have a Mac OS X Server running Lion 10.7.4. I created few users under WGM with OpenDirectory, some users are able to login but some are not able to login for some weird reasons. For example: I created a user called "test1" with /Users/test1 directory, I was able to login using test1 username and password. I created another user called "jimmyjohn" with /Users/jimmyjohn but I'm not able to login with this user account. Both accounts are created identical and I'm logging into the same machine. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Pyraxic

I don't see any authentication log under system.log
