'other driver and xa connection properties

A connection pool is configured through the admin server with a third party driver (specify other for database type). The driver is only on the classpath

This submitted without me finishing...
We have configured a connection pool with 'other' type and the jtds driver for sql server 6.5 (net.sourceforge.jtds.jdbcx.JtdsDataSource). The driver is only on the classpath of the managed servers, not the admin server.
In this case, we do not see the XA properties in the advanced options (eg Enable XA Transaction Timeout). I am assuming this is because the admin server does not know if the driver is XA or not.
Is there a way to have weblogic show the XA properties, without placing the driver on the admin server classpath?

    Hi,
WIFI stopped working after I woke the computer up, now says connected to the network but not the internet, all other coputers and devices connected still with no problems, have pinged IP address from router and got the message "4 packets sent none received"... Help
I have tried network diagnostics which doesnt help... The only other ting is, when I woke the computer up it said tat another device was using my IP... My wife had plugged her phone into the computer to charge etc but even when i turn wifi off on the phone there is no change... also in settings on the phone the IP address is different...

The answer to your question is - neither!
Your PC should to configured to obtain an IP address automatically, and to obtain DNS server IP addresses automatically, from the Airport Express. This is the way Windows (and Macs for that matter) are configued by default, and that is the way most people have their computers set up. If you manually configured your PC's IP address to be the same as your wife's Mac, it certainly explains why your PC is not able to access the internet.

  • External hard drive and ESata connection on K9A2 Platinum (inop)

I have the same problem as the user who posted on this topic in Oct last year.  I have two eSATA external drives, one a Lacie, the other a GForce.  Both are 1TB and, luckily, have USB, FW and eSATA ports.  When I got my PC it was running XP Pro 32.  In that OS the GForce works fine USB or FW but is not recognized at all when plugged into either of the eSATA ports.  I tried different cables.  I then upgraded to W7 Ultimate 64.  Same results.  I also purchased the Lacie drive.  It works fine USB or FW, but is not recognized eSATA.  The only difference with the LAcie drive is that my PC did try to load a PCI device driver.
Reading the old topic I went to Fastbuild but could not see the drive attached via the eSATA port to add.  No additional drives were recognized.  I am not the experienced with setting up RAID, FYI.
I am reluctant to falsh the bios with an MSI update as everything is working otherwise.  I do have the XP and Vista CDs with the MSI drivers on them that the builder (Powermax) gave me.
I really would like to get these drives running eSATA.  Any suggestions on how to proceed?
    Thanks in advance.

This post is my attempt to add some clarity on the issue of making the eSATA ports on your K9A2 board usable.  My conclusion is based on a lot of trial and error and reading a lot of old posts on this board on the subject.  I have purposely made a new post so that it is searchable and will hopefully save someone else a lot of time and grief.
If you are like me you will be frustrated because the eSATA ports on your machine appear inoperable and do not recognize an external drive although the drives work fine connected with a USB or FW cable.  This is because the eSATA ports on the K9A2 are controlled by a Promise T3 on board RAID controller (it may be pseudo RAID but that's for another discussion-- all we need to know is it controls those ports).  It also controls the internal SATA ports 5 and 6, FWIW.
You will probably find that the Promise is disabled in Setup. <DEL> at POST to see setup on the K9A2.  You are looking in the Integrated Peripherals menu choice, submenu Extra RAID Controller (for Promise RAID).  When you enter here you will see if your Promise is enabled or disabled.  If it is enabled you have another problem.  Likely it is disabled, BUT DO NOT ENABLE IT AT THIS TIME.
Go back to the Integrated Peripherals Setup menu.  Then go to the On-Chip ATA Devices submenu and then the SATA Mode (for SB600 RAID) menu under that.  If the enabled selection is either AHCI or IDE, you can leave it be and go back and enable the Promise controller making sure that you have first loaded the drivers which can be found here: http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=driver&maincat_no=1&prod_no=1332
Please note I do not know if the Vista drivers for the Promise will work with W7.  Likely, but I never got to find out.  It's probably a good idea to load a set of SB600 drivers to a floppy right about now in case you need to restore them later too.
If however, you find that your you SB600 is set to RAID (not IDE or AHCI) then unless you are prepared to give up your RAID array, you are done now and can never use your eSATA ports or the Promise controller.  This is because -- as I have read in older posts -- the Promise controller loads its own BIOS, and if the SB600 controller is also set to RAID there will be a conflict.  (My SB600 is set to RAID, the end result of enabling the Promise -- before I knew all this -- was the destruction of my RAID drivers and a never ending boot/BSOD loop).  If you are like me, you may receive answers answers on this forum  like:" AHCI has to enabled for the eSATA ports to work".  A more accurate and helpful statement would be that if your SB600 controller is set to RAID you cannot use the Promise controller.  If you want to use the Promise controller your *SB600* controller should be set to AHCI (if you have an existing RAID set, wave it goodbye).
Summary: If you want to use your eSATA ports and are not using RAID, set SB600 to AHCI, load Promise drivers and enable Promise is setup.  If you are using a RAID set driven by the SB600 give up now and go buy a PCI card with a couple of eSATA ports on it and hope you can install it around your video cards (not a lot of room on the K9A2 with modern video cards).
I would be ecstatic for someone to tell me I'm wrong, but I don't think they will.  I have no idea why someone thought it was a good idea to design the board this way, but it is what it is, eh?
I hope this post saved you some time.
    R/Anthony
PS: Stating the obvious: have a recent system image, startup disk and a full set of drivers before you screw around in Setup if you are of limited experience like me.

  • Folders that I copy from my Macbook to my External Hard Disk does NOT appear on any other drive that I connect the Hard disk to (TV, PC, ... etc.)

    I'm facing a bit of a problem.
Any folder I copy from my Macbook Pro to my External Hard Disk does NOT appear on any other device that I connect the Hard Disk to (TV, PC, etc).
The Hard disk format is "MS-DOS (FAT)".
The folders that are copied from Macbook appear when I connect the Hard Disk to my Macbook only, yet, the folders that I copy from a PC to the Hard Disk appear on Macbook, PC, and TV and are also available from editing from both Mac and PC.
I was advised to install "Paragon" software and I did but I'm not sure how to use it to convert the folders on the hard drive to any format that can be read on other drives or devices (NTFS or otherwise).
I'd appreciate some help. Thank you.

Hi Simon.  How is it formatted, FAT or NTFS?
I only ask as OSX will only read NTFS partitions unless you install an App such as Paragon NTFS or Tuxera NTFS.

  • I moved my users/yourname folder my other drive and want to move it back

    Hi there.
I recently swapped out the internal hard drive for an SSD and I swapped the optical drive for another HDD.
I use the SSD as a system drive that I don't write to.
The HDD is for audio and documents.
I moved my users/yourname to the HDD including the library folder but it's been strongly recommended that I move the users folder back to the system drive and move the iTunes, iPhoto, docs, and desktop folders to the HDD.  Do I just simply copy the folder back over to the SSD and delete the folders on the HDD? do I need to do anything in the terminal?
    thanks for your help.
    -Matt

You could point your home folder to the new destination so the system recognizes it as such, and not touch anything. See below

  • Windows Server 2008 Standard: Multiple Concerns: Inconsistent group policy update on client PC's, frequent disconnections of map drives and remote connection

Hi this is my first time to ask a question here in this community.
I am a system administrator here at my work and we are having some issues on some servers that we handle. Network in our office is stable and we have determined it is not a problem on the connection.
First issue - One of our domain controller consistently drops out on our Directory Server and saying it's unavailable.
Second issue - Unable to ping hostname but IP address works fine. (Sometimes hostname is ok but very intermittent)
Third issue - Since connection is unstable map drives causes to disconnect
If someone can provide any assistance on this matter it would be a great help. If screenshots needed for proper assistance would be appreciative.
Just to add that this only happen after a power failure last April of this month and a few weeks bluescreen started to show. It is a hazy version wasn't able to get any code that may lead to a hardware failure.
Now our main RDC.local is also affected so we are trying to isolate this issue and exhauted my brain since we cannot determine what causes it. Need external assistance just to give us a lead on where we can get this resolved.

    Hi Ryan,
Before going further, would you please let me confirm something more? Thanks for your understanding.
    1. For first issue, would you please let me know OS edition information of the problematic DC? Was it Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows Server 2012 or any other?
    à
One of our domain controller consistently drops out on our Directory Server and saying it's unavailable.
Would you please let me know the complete error message or provide a screenshot of it?
(Please hide all protected or private information.) Meanwhile, please log on the problematic DC and check if find relevant events or errors in Event Viewer.
    2. For the second issue, it seems to be a DNS issue. Did you run
ipconfig /flushdns and ipconfig /registerdns command? Any find? Meanwhile, please use
ipconfig /all to display full TCP/IP configuration and check. Or you can post the
ipconfig result here. It may help us to go further analyze. By the way, would you please let me know error message that you can get when be unable to ping via hostname?
    3.
àSince connection is unstable map drives causes to disconnect
    May be a cause.
If any update, please feel free to let me know.
    Hope this helps.

  • Ipad–external hard drives and USB connected devices

Is there anyway to hook up an external hard drive to the iPad?
are there any programs which allow working in layers on images?

This is a question I would also ask. I have a Canon pro camera with 8Gb Compact Flash and I would like to be able to connect my camera via USB2 through an iPad to a portable HDD as a solution for downloading in the field. Why on earth did Apple not include USB functionality in this device. Even cheapo $300 netbooks all have multiple USB ports. Sure the current config is ok for most users, but why not have options on a more expensive model such as USB ports and an internal HDD for those needing such. My same gripe with the iPod. I have the 120Gb Classic. I really wanted an iPod touch with 120Gb HDD, but Apple don't make it. Sigh

Does it make a difference in playback jumpiness if any with:

    2. The movies on an external USB 2 hard drive connected to my Mac?
    3. 802.11g shared network with one other computer and internet connection.

    6. Must the video play on the AppleTV hard drive to stream to the TV, or can video that is not on the AppleTV be played back?
    7. Unrelated question, but do TV shows show menus which are alphabetical with submenus which are also alphabetical?
Please only people who have already received their AppleTV let me know what you find.

what if I want all my movies and shows and music served from my HD but my photos to reside on the ATV...is that possible!?It is what I am doing. Basically, I simply set the main iTunes host to sync all music (115 files) and all photos (928), but nothing else. When I want to look at the photos (with music), I merely switch to the "TV" (sync) mode. When I want to stream any of the movies, TV Shows, and/or Podcasts, I just switch to the Named Music Library (streaming) mode for the same iTunes host.

  • Changing Boot Drives and Keep Your Time Machine History

A problem with Time Machine is that it is specific to the target and backup drives.  Change one or the other and TM will want to do a new full backup. If you don't have enough space, it will delete your old backups. HOWEVER, this is a way to install a new boot (or other) drive that TM is backing up and get it to pick up where it left off doing incremental backups.  This is extremely helpful if you change your boot drive.  In my case, I moved from a HDD to an SSD but wanted to keep my history intact.  TIme Machine "knows" which drive to backup based on the UUID (unique drive identifier) so merely changing the name of the drive in the Finder won't do it.  You need to change the UUID in the latest backup of TM.
Note: This is not for the faint of heart or technically challenged. It also requires a mild knowledge of unix or at least the ability to follow instructions TO THE LETTER!  You will change the UUID from the Latest Backup in Time Machine from the "old" drive to the "new" drive thus tricking TM into thinking the new drive is the old drive and it will continue to do incremental backups of the new drive.  The technique described below was originally developed under OS 10.5 (and posted on the MAC OS HINTS 10.5 blog but I have just used it under Snow Leopard.  It might work for newer OSs but I haven't tried them.  I actually did 2 things: 1) Installed a larger TM drive and 2) installed a SSD as a boot drive.  I will post under a different title to provide information on installing a larger TM drive since putting that information here may be confusing.
You will need 2 Unix commands: xattr and fsaclctl.  xattr is included in OS 10.6 Unix shell but fsaclctl is not.  You will have to get fsaclctl from a version of OS 10.5 using the techniques described in the article posted below.  I had an old 10.5 disc and found it in: /sbin/fsaclctl at the root directory of my 10.5 hard drive.  I also performed the technicque described below logged in as root but this may merely logged in as an administrotor.
** How to change your boot (or any other) drive and get Time Machine to just pick up where it left off doing incremental backups and not do a full backup of the new drive:
    1) Turn OFF Time Machine
    2) Install the new drive
    3) Clone the old drive to the new drive (in my case HDD -> SSD) using SuperDuper, CarbonCopyCloner or even Disk Utility
    4) Make sure you have both xattr and fsaclctl commands installed
    5) Open Terminal
    6) Follow the instructions here:
    http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20090213071015789&query=time+machine +new+disc
Note: you may need to use the command switch "l" (the letter l) to see the ascii version of the UUID
    sudo xattr -l com.apple.backupd.SnapshotVolumeUUID my_partition
Note: Unix uses spaces (white space) as delimiters and is always case sensitive so if you have spaces in the name of your drives, you MUST put the drive name in quotation marks:
if the drive name is: My HDD then to list the contents of the drive in Unix would use the command ls thus:
    > ls "My HDD"
will list the contents of My HDD
(the command:  > ls My HDD (without quotation marks) will produce an error - no such file or directory)
When you've followed the above procedure and turned Time Machine back on, the first time TM may warn you that the disc has been changed and "someone may be trying to trick your computer" into using the new drive.  Answer: do the backup
I wish I could take credit for this brilliant technique but I just followed it and it worked for me. I also read the entire thread before starting.

The two drives are handled as separate drives, even if they have the same name.
In essence, the old backups are from a drive that's no longer connected; see #E3 in the Time Machine - Troubleshooting *User Tip,* also at the top of this forum.

And now after creating a system object for Srm on Portal I tried to test the connectivity and it shows the following error.
"Connection failed. Make sure user mapping is set correctly and all connection properties are correct."
    ANy ideas? Please advice.

My simple rule is to ignore the message as the test tends to give false negatives. Instead try to access the system with an iView, such as SAP transaction, or use System admin -> support -> SAP application -> scroll down to SAP transaction.

Try performing a system restore to the date where the unit was working fine in case this does not help request to provide the device ID.
    Open Device Manager
In the Device Manager menu, whichever way you got to it, find the driver that is missing (yellow question mark).

  • When using a Seagate 1T external hard drive and Time Machine to back up hourly, if I delete photo files from the Mac hard drive before the next back up, are these retained on the Seagate drive or will they be lost (overwritten) in the next backu in the ne

Does Time Machine erase previously saved files if, say, photos are deleted from the Macbook upon the next update, or will they be stored indefinately despite the current status of the files stored on the computer? Eg. can I bckup photo files to a Seagate 1T disc and then delete them to make more room on the computer in the knowlwdge that they are always going to be on the Seagate disc? Sorry if this is very elementary but I have not used a back up before like this, and am not sure how successive backups are overlaid or retained. Thanks!!

TM is not designed to do what you ask. As Allan wrote TM is an incremental backup not an archival solution.
If you delete a file from the HD it will eventually be removed from the TM backup (if it ever makes it on to the backup at all).
How long before it is removed depends on a number of factors, TM disk drive size being one factor but not the only one.
Material that is impossible to replace and is important to you (image files usually fitting that description) need to be backed up to as least one other drive and preferably more for long term storage.
