Perfect, I get the exact same page when I login, however, this page doesn't have any links to the actual sessions.  If I remember correctly, after logging in another window used to open in which we could select the session to play.
Please let me know how I can access the session from the page that is displayed after logging in.  Thank you for taking time to check, appreciate your help.

  • Trying to register for Virtual Developer Day

    Hello
I'm trying to register for Virtual Developer Day in the European time zone but I'cant figure out how to change the timezone....
Clicking on "view your local time" has no effect and clicking on "register online" gives a time out error.
I've tried with Chrome 10, Explorer 7 and Firefox 3.6 but with no luck.
Am I missing something or is the web site broken ?
    Regards
    Paul

View your local time has now been fixed but it simply displays the times
for the event on May 3rd.
I still can't figure out how to switch to the event for May 10th for Europe or are we supposed to register once
and we register for all of the events....
    Regards
    Paul

  • Reminder: OTN Sys Admin Day in Salt Lake City on January 18th

Just a friendly reminder: this year too, we'll continue this series of free one-day events.
OTN Sys Admin Days are like OTN's Developer Days, but we focus on the Sys Admin with two parallel, hands-on Oracle Solaris and Oracle Linux tracks. These are live classroom events and you'll need to bring your own laptop to follow the practical exercises that we will go through in a VirtualBox environment.
The Linux track will cover topics like package management with RPM and yum, storage management with LVM2 and Linux RAID as well as learning the basics of managing the Btrfs file system. The Solaris track will cover the ZFS file system, Solaris containers and security (roles, SMF).
The next OTN Sys Admin Day will take place in Salt Lake City (UT), on January 18th, 8:00am-4:00pm.
Attendance is free, but a registration is required – reserve your spot now by following this link! We look forward to your participation.

I would have taken the 4G and the $50 plan offer, for the same data amount as you had with the 3G $60 plan. And yes you would and should have a new 2 yr contract going this route. As for the Jetpack, I have no idea what that even is.
That being said, I would have thought even USB modems and such would have fallen under the holiday return policy.
    Wireless Device/Accessory Return Policy
You may return or exchange wireless devices and accessories purchased from Verizon Wireless within 14 days of purchase. A restocking fee of $35 ($70 for netbooks and tablets) applies to any return or exchange of a wireless device (excluding Hawaii).
This return and exchange policy does not apply to customers who have purchased a Prepaid Plan.
Purchases made between November 15 and December 28, 2011 may be returned or exchanged through January 15, 2012. All other provisions of Verizon Wireless’ Return & Exchange Policy continue to apply, including Restock Fee.

  • Invalid OVF (OTN Developer Days.ovf)

I downloaded the three files from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/databaseappdev-vm-161299.html.
When I open the .ovf file the Virtual Box manager displays an error:
    Resultaat code:
    VBOX_E_FILE_ERROR (0x80BB0004)
    Component:
    Appliance
    Interface:
    IAppliance {7b148032-4124-4f46-b56a-b48ac1273f5a}
I downloaded the ovf using various browsers, but the result did not change.
I am running virual box 4.0.10 r72479 in Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit version.
Has anyone encountered the same? How can I solve this?
    Best regards,

ORA_Patel - yes I have done the save as .ovf, but the problem is there is no file found to save. I got either a "unauthorized" html page returned from oracle, or Firefox/IE would return an error saying it could not download/find the find I right-clicked to save.
It looks like (from checking a wget) that a redirect happens and the actual file attempted for retrieval is:
    http://edelivery.oracle.com/otn/other/virtualbox/dd/OTN Developer Days.ovf
When I went to check edelivery, it appears to be down right now.

  • Scripts for OTN Developer Day - Big Data

    Hi,
I was wondering if anybody knows where to find the scripts used for "OTN Developer Day - Big Data" which was held during February/March 2014?
The "Lab Guide" can be found in: https://www.oracle.com/webfolder/s/delivery_production/docs/FY14h1/BigDataWorkshop.pdf
    Regards,
    Babak.

Not sure if these are the exact same ones, but it should be very close: Oracle Big Data Lite Virtual Machine
It will also get you to the page where the VM is frequently updated and the HOL sections come with the updated VM.

  • OTN Developer Day Regrestration Problem

For the last two days, I've been trying to register for the developer day in Houston, TX. When I click the Register Now button, im taken to a page with the following content:
We're sorry, There seems to be some problem in processing your request.
We have recorded this error to help us fix the problem.
You may wish to try again using one of the tools below.
    Back to Previous Page
    Site Map
At first I thought it might be the computer I was using but I've gotten the same results from several computers at various locations. Is there a problem with the server or is the registration closed and the message just not clear?

I can login with no problem. I just downloaded jRocket to prove to myself that the acount was ok. I didn't need the link you provided as my account was fine. What happened when I tried to register for the event was a 404 error. I say was because I just went back and everything was working again!
I'm now registered and life is good.

  • OTN Developer Day update disk?

I went to one of the earlier OTN Developer Days held in Denver - which was really great. At that time, JDev 11g had just been released, but the materials would only work with one of the technical previews. Is it possible to download updated disk images as they are updated to the latest JDeveloper releases?
    Thanks, Ken

You don't need a disk image - all you need is JDeveloper 11g production that you can get from OTN.
    And then follow these tutorials:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/11/bus_serv1/developbusinessservices.html

    More Tutorials are here:

The new OTN Developer Days have a new set of tutorials in them which is still not on OTN.

  • OTN Developer Day in Reston, VA yesterday

Lynn Munsinger did awesome as usual. In an effort to help, here is my write up on a JDev 11g (using the build that came with the class CD, not the latest build with patch, mind you) bug I encountered during this great, helpful, though-provoking, gastronomically satisfying, professional session:
For some reasons, when I was trying to add a default value to an entity date attribute, the groovy expression that I typed in did not register as having “taken”. I typed the value in and hit enter…well actually the first thing I did was enter the expression editor, which opens a dialog. But as soon as I went away from that context and came back the value I had entered did not appear. I bet if I had just entered the default value groovy expression on the property, the value would have taken as expected. At any rate entering the value in the field and switching to the source for the page made the little green dot appear in the property sheet, but no corresponding XML attribute value appeared for the “attribute” element for hireDate attribute. So finally I quit out of JDeveloper and reentered the tool. Then I entered the groovy expression, pressed enter, and it took: got the green dot (signifying non-default value in this property), and I checked the source screen and saw the corresponding DefaultValue attribute pop up with the Groovy value in it. Yay! Oddly enough once I got this to take I had accidentally left the value type to literal…which caused an error…because “adf.currentDate” is not really a valid date, is it? But changing to expression type made the XML change to a Transient expression and the data was put in a “CDATA” thingy. Lol Then it worked.

I have additional comments and questions also (questions are at the bottom) that I did not have time to scribble down on the feedback sheet at the end. They are in my blog entry as follows:
    http://mfonsadf.blogspot.com/2009/03/developer-day-notes.html
If the keepers of this forum would like them pasted in here for searching possibilities I would be glad to paste them in...or not...however it works best.

  • Oracle VM Virtual Box - Developer Day Image

Just want to say what a good Out of Box experience I had with VirtualBox and the Developer day image. I currently use VMWare for all my Oracle images (Windows,OEL etc..) but I think VirtualBox will be the way forward!

Virtualization in general adds overhead so it will be slower than otherwise though if you are going to run a DB you should have pretty high performance disk if you want high performance.
What is your storage underneath (how many disks, what type of disks, & how are the presented/formatted/partitioned)?
I put SSDs under my DBs and they are performing really well. In my Dev environment I used Samsung 840 Pro SSDs and really like them.

    Hi friends,
i have installed oracle db using Oracle Developer Day.ova for practicing on my lappie.
I want to connect to that DB which is inside oracle vm virtual box manager using PUTTY ( which is on my desktop). I dont want to use the in-built workspace or Terminal(whatever is its name).
Can you guys please suggest what should i do so that i can login to the DB using the PUTTY only (i love it )? i am not able to login to the host "localhost" using the putty.
Few years back when i had installed vmware(linux installed in it and db installed on linux) i could connect through putty.
I am using below entry in the hosts file.
    # localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
        127.0.0.1       localhost
    #    ::1             localhost
'localhost' and its ip address of 127.0.0.1 are non-routeable.  Any request to send a network message to localhost will never leave the machine from which the request originates.  And for all intents and purposes, your virtual machine is a different machine.

  • Oracle developer day - problem downloading .ova file (on a mac)

I downloaded the Oracle VM virtual Box (for mac) just fine, but I'm having a problem with the "Oracle Developer Day.ova". When I try to download, I am shown a file with format problems. It looks like an initial agreement and but is not correctly formatted, it has black boxed question marks inserted oddly and html is visible. There is no option or way to save the file or agree to terms to proceed. (File path is: dowload.oracle.com/otn/other/virtualbox/dd/Oracle_Developer_Day.ova?AuthParam=[big number here]). It seems that perhaps I have a browser issue. I'm using Safari Version 6.0.4 on a mac. Is there a way that I can ftp the file using mac unix?

  • NY NY - Java at Oracle Developer Day

Just got back from “Oracle Technology Network (OTN) Developer Day, Java at Oracle Developer Day” in NY, NY yesterday. I have to say, I was impressed with Oracle’s direction of and for Java, as they expressed their commitment to it.
They clarified their commitment to the Open Source community, as well as promising that such things as ‘Closures’ and an increased usage of Annotations (among other things that many have been clamoring about, but that I personally don’t care for) will soon be realities.
They made their intentions clear about keeping Java mainstream, making cooperative efforts with vendors and open source, as well as, well … just putting $$$ into development and marketing, and in building strong partnerships. They also stated their intention for strengthening the JVM for “other languages” that run on it.
They also deftly demonstrated RAD using Netbeans – the demos for the new Glassfish/Netbeans were good – and I’m not an IDE kind of guy. Eclipse was also spoken of with a high degree of respect, which also aided in making me feel that Oracle is serious about being cooperative to the extent good business sense will dictate – no I’m not as naïve a fellow as I might at times sound.
Anyone else here there yesterday? Regards,
    ~Bill

  • OTD Developer Days-Getting a Command prompt in the Linux Shell for DD

    Hi,
I've loaded the Virtual Machine (and all the files for Developer Days) and can launch the virtual machine from Windows 7...I get as far as the Linux shell showing that OTN Developer days is [running] in the VM, but I get no command prompt to login in..How do I a command prompt in this Linux shell? (thanks...I know this is a novice question..)
    Best Regards,
    Dave

On many UNIX systems there's a utility called detach which will launch the following command in such a manner that killing the shell will not kill the process. On systems that lack this command, I'd find an open source implementation and install it.
