OutOfMemoryError when running Oracle BPM Enterprise's Configuration Wizard

Hi,
I was trying to configure Oracle BPM Enterprise via Oracle BPM Admin Center. I left most of the settings to their respective default values; only adding in passwords for the Directory, Engine, etc. However an error was encountered when it is trying to deploy the '01-eng-bpmengine' EAR file. A 'OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space' was logged after running the configuration for a while. Below is the full error log:
AdmCenterConsole.log
FuegoLauncher.main()
fix classpath: C:\OraBPMwlHome\bin;C:\OraBPMwlHome\bin\lax.jar;
new classpath: C:\OraBPMwlHome\bin\lax.jar;FuegoLauncher.main() - 2
arg[0] = C:\OraBPMwlHome\bin\obpmadmcenter.properties
StreamLogOutput: No log file specified in property 'fuego.log.admcenter.file'.
Defaulting to System.err.

Is there any way that I can increase the heap size of the Configuration Wizard? If not, is there any solution to this problem?

Hi,
It seems to be a Weblogic OOM (OutOfMemory).
Why don't you try increasing the weblogic memory (you have to modify your domain scripts)
I guess that after increasing your WLS domain memory settings you will be able to configure it using the config wizard.
Hope this helps,
Ariel

    Hi,
    I was getting same excepction when tried to configure weblogic server (10.3.3 and 10gR3) through BPM Configuration Wizard, so I end up doing everything manually, like setting up JDBC data sources, JMS Server, JMS Modules and created DB (Directory & Engine).
    Now, I am stuck at the last step of deploying the EAR files generated using BPM Process Administrator, they EAR's are generated fine but while deploying them to Weblogic server (through BPM Process Administrator), getting following exception (for "01-eng-bpmengine.ear")
    <Servlet: "engineStartup" failed to preload on startup in Web application: "/albpmServices/bpmengine".

    Dan,
    I tried in both studio and Standalone.
    From Studio :*
    1. The Url for the Webservice is (http://localhost:8585/papiws/PapiWebServiceEndpoint?wsdl). From studio by default port number was 8585.From this studio wsdl URL(http://localhost:8585/papiws/PapiWebServiceEndpoint?wsdl),I did n't see any wsdl text in the browser.
    From Standalone :*
    1. In BPM Admin Center, I have selected *"PAPI Web Services"* check box(Page 5 of your document).
    2. In The BPM Admin Center, I have clicked on *"Start BPM Web Applications"*.
    3. After Stand alone server started *"Launch PAPI WebServices Console"* link was enabled,And I clicked on that link.It opened a browser with URL (http://localhost:8686/papiws/PapiWebService)

  • Oracle BPM Enterprise

    hi everybody!
    May You help me installation Oracle BPM Enterprise?
    and login to workspace with username and Password, how do i need?
    Because I am using Oracle BPM studio, when login to workspace only username, not need password
    So the project don't secured.
    help me!
    thank's

    What kind of help do you need? Are you running into errors? Do you need the link for the installation documentation or software download?
    Although Studio has a small runtime environment database (Derby) and Tomcat, these are only used for rapid testing. Studio's end user Workspace looks the same as Enterprise, but as you have seen - it is limited to the number of concurrent users and the Workspace login only has a user id field and no password because it is only used for rapid and iterative testing. As a result, you cannot and should not use Studio's Workspace as your production environment.

    Here's where you can find all of the Oracle BPM 10g documentation: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13154_01/bpm/docs65/index.html
    Oracle BPM Studio 10g
    Oracle BPM Studio is the integrated development and test environment where business analysts and developers can create, document and simulate process models, integrate services, create business rules and logic and create end user interfaces. Projects built in Studio can be deployed to Oracle BPM Enterprise. Although Studio has a small database (Derby) and Tomcat environment, these are only used for rapid testing. Studio's end user Workspace looks the same as Enterprise, but is limited to the number of concurrent users and the Workspace login only has a user id field and no password because it is only used for rapid and iterative testing. As a result, you cannot and should not use Studio's Workspace as your production environment.
    Oracle BPM Enterprise 10g
    Oracle BPM Enterprise is the production environment. At its heart, it has an engine that manages and executes the business services according to rules in the designed process models. The platform supports high-availability, fail-over and backup capabilities for mission critical processing. The engine is J2EE compliant or can run separately on a standalone JVM. When run on a J2EE application server, the Engines can be clustered.
    Work item instance information is automatically persisted in the Engine's database tables as the instances flow through processes.
    Orchestrated processes running on the engine are automatically exposed as Web services and executed across both internal and external processes and other applications.
    Oracle BPM Enterprise engines are managed through the Oracle BPM Process Administrator Console. This is a web-based client that enables administrators to monitor and administer the Engines remotely.
    The Oracle BPM Enterprise engine is exposed via both a Java Process Application Program Interface (PAPI) and a web service API (PAPI-WS).

  • Running Oracle 10g Enterprise Edition: Multicore or MultiProcessor

    I have the option of running Oracle 10g Enterprise Edition on a SunFire v480 (4 x 1.2 GHz UltraSPARC III) or a Sunfire T-2000 with a 1Ghz 8-core processor. Assume both machines will be running Solaris 10 as the operating system and have comparable amounts of RAM.
    What would be the best choice for performance, and why? Does Oracle 10g have any optimizations that enhance it's ability to run on a multi-core or multi-processor system, or is that mostly dependent on the OS itself?

    Each (dedicated) oracle connection has its own process, plus all of the background processes. This means they will benefit from multiple cpu/core architectures. Assuming that the multi-core solution appears to the OS as multiple processors, it will be the best solution since you have the most CPU power. Be sure to check the licensing rules for multi-core processors, there are some special rules about them.

Where all the roles and participants maintained. I have oracle BPM enterprise integrated with Weblogic server.
    Please help!!

    Download the "Oracle BPM Enterprise Administration Guide" PDF from http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13154_01/bpm/docs65/index.html.
    Take a look at pages 10 - 17. Page 17 describes how to create a new role in Enterprise.
    Look at page 22. This describes how you can match the abstract roles (roles created in Studio) to real roles (roles created in Enterprise described on page 17).
    In development, I'll usually just select the "Smart Publish" option as I'm publishing the project. This automatically creates a new real role on Enterprise and automatically matches it to the abstract role created in Studio while you're publishing your project.

  • Need steps to configure BAM and DATAMART for Oracle BPM Enterprise

    Hi,
    Need steps to configure BAM and DATAMART for both Oracle BPM 10.3 Enterprise Standalone and Oracle BPM 10.3 Enterprise Weblogic.
    Configurations like BAM Updater Service, Process Data Mart Updater Service, Start Up / Shut Down of the service etc.
    I am referring : http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/bpm/bpm10gr3technicalarticles/BPMConfiguringAndTroubleshootingBAMAndDataMart.pdf

    Hi,
    To add system to solman:
    Go to SMSY and define:
    1) Server --> host name, IP etc
    2) DB --> DB details
    3) System --> R3, Netweaever etc, assign proper components, products
    4) define and assign logical components for the system defined in step 3
    5) generate RFC destionation to the satellite system
    6) Provided you have the necessary trusted authorization and if the RFCs are generated successfully then your task is done. Else you'll have to troubleshoot.
    Once this is done, you need to goto SOLUTION_MANAGER and define
    1) new solution
    2) make necessary inclusion in Solution Landscape Maintenance
    3) include logical component
    This completes the system setup for you.
    For CCMS agent configuration, refer:

    This tells me you are using a 3rd party or locally developed Java Bean to perform some type of print function. Is this correct?
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: java.io.IOException: open HTTP connection failed.Does your printtext.jar Java Bean need to open an HTTP connection in order to print?
    Have you been able to print in the past using this Java Bean? Where did you get the Java Bean?

    Honestly, you need to list the following minimum information when you post a question; it gives us all or most of the information we need to help you and it eliminates the need for us to ask for this information. Please always include:
    * Forms Version (eg; 10.1.2.0.0 not 10g)
    * Java Version

  • /dev/shm on Oracle Linux 6.x to run Oracle 11g R2 - manual configuration?

    Hello
    We are building a server to run Oracle 11g R2 database (11.2.0.3 x64) on Oracle Linux 6.2 with UEK R2.
    Our preference is to use AMM to have Oracle 11g R2 manage memory. We may impose some minium SGA and PGA memory allocations but basically aim to use MEMORY_TARGET to manage overall memory.
    By default Linux makes the size of /dev/shm ~50% of server physical RAM, as far as I can tell.
    Here is the /etc/fstab entry created by the installation:
    tmpfs /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0
    Given this Linux server will only run Oracle 11g R2 database and some monitoring software, almost application code will run on the server. The application code will run on the separate application server and is Java based.
    Can I change the */etc/fstab* entry for /dev/shm to manually increase the size to take up ~80-90% of the server physical RAM ? Is it a good idea?
    The server is 64-bit, the RAM = 64 GB, so I am thinking to manually make /dev/shm to be = ~55GB, leaving ~8GB for other purposes.
    Right now it's about 32GB (50%?) if I leave the /dev/shm 'defaults' on.
    many thanks

    thanks,
    I have read the doc (what little there is on this topic).
    I have asked on the database forum......
    just FYI - below is the proof:
    SQL> show parameter mem
    NAME                    TYPE     VALUE
    hi_shared_memory_address     integer     0
    memory_max_target          big integer 4G
    memory_target          big integer 0
    shared_memory_address     integer     0
    SQL> show parameter ga
    NAME                    TYPE     VALUE
    lock_sga               boolean     FALSE
    pga_aggregate_target          big integer 1600M
    pre_page_sga          boolean     FALSE
    sga_max_size          big integer 3G
    sga_target               big integer 1600M
    still does not work.
    And I cant change memory_max_target = 0 because I get error on startup:
    SQL> alter system set memory_max_target=0 scope=spfile;
    System altered.
    SQL> shutdown immediate;
    Database closed.
    Database dismounted.
    ORACLE instance shut down.
    SQL> startup;
    ORA-01078: failure in processing system parameters
    ORA-00843: Parameter not taking MEMORY_MAX_TARGET into account
    ORA-00849: SGA_TARGET 3221225472 cannot be set to more than MEMORY_MAX_TARGET 0.
    BUT if memory_max_target is > 0 then alert log says hugepages can not be used
    it feels like catch-22.....
    thanks

    thx,
    Mihai

    I understood that 11.1.1.3 installs over 11.1.1.2. I download 11.1.1.3, runInstaller of 11.1.1.3 on the same SOA_HOME as 11.1.1.2 and installer finished without errors. I'am not aware if other "things" should be installed/configured. It seems that WizzardController didn't change the version of what it writes in its logs.
    (that pb with the config.sh - create domain - was present also in my 11.1.1.2 installation; that is the reason I installed the upgrade to 11.1.1.3 - just to try to resolve somehow this issue).
    thanks,
    Mihai
