Output on existing file at the begining??

Hi,
I have a problem about outputing.
I want to write some texts at the begining of existing file.
eg... file A
"Hello
then i want to insert some texts at the begining
e.g. insert "YOU"
then file A
will become
"YOU HELLO
any idea?
thank alot

In order to make room for new data at the beginning of a file it is neccessary to shift the original files content towards the end of the file. This cannot be done without copying (read/write) the whole content of the file.
But as you mentioned the term log-file have a look at other log-files written by applications. The newest entry is always at the end of the file. The reason for this is that people encounterd the same problem you have right now.
As a matter of fact, if I read any file with log-entries in my editor I jump to the end of the file right away and start reading the entries backwards from there. People are used to it, just append your log-entries to the end of the file.

  • Is there a way to play an mp4 file at the beginning of a published project only when the project is accessed from a specific site?

    Is there a way to play an mp4 file at the beginning of a published project only when the project is accessed from a specific site?
    A little background info. I use Captivate 7 and currently have over 100 projects that I maintain on a quarterly basis. I publish using the SWF format and upload the swf/htm files to a server where they are then accessed from a few locations (within our online documentation, in our software product, on two different websites). Many of the projects are linked so some will be viewed as a series and others viewed as a standalone video. Each video uses the same template and includes an intro and end slide. Now my organization wants to implement a new intro to all videos (those I publish and those from several groups across the organization). My current intros provide overview material for the specific video so the new intro, which is an animation with audio in mp4 format, would need to be placed at the start of each project. The issue is, the intro adds 9 seconds to every video and in many cases doesn’t add any value (say, if a user accesses the video from within our product or views the videos as a series). I’ve talked it over with my boss and we want to try to add the intro only to videos accessed from site X, not any other location. So now to my question. Is there a way to play an external mp4 file (intro) only when the published project is accessed from a specific site, therefore eliminating the need to update each project? Maybe there's a way to add a parameter or variable to the URL or the html code?
    Thanks in advance for your suggestions. Please let me know if you need additional information.

    AimeeLove,
    I have a solution for you.  You may have to modify the code a little bit based on how long the timeline animation is for your clock.  I based mine on 3 seconds to complete a minute hand sweep around the clock.
    Milliseconds for each point on the clock:
    12 = 0
    1 = 250
    2 = 500
    3 = 750
    4 = 1000
    5 = 1250
    6 = 1500
    7 = 1750
    8 = 2000
    9 = 2250
    10 = 2500
    11 = 2750
    In the mouseover section for 12 o' clock, put this code...
    myVar = setInterval(function(){
         var pos = sym.getPosition();
         if (pos > 0 && pos < 50){
              sym.stop(0);
              clearInterval(myVar);
    },10);
    When you point to the time, the setInterval method loops every 100th of a second and checks the current position of the timeline.  When the timeline reaches the range between 0 and 50 milliseconds (almost impossible to hit 1 specific point), the timeline will stop at 0.  Also, the clearInterval will be fired to stop the loop.
    In the mouseout section, put this...
    sym.play();
    clearInterval(myVar);
    It start the clock again, and it also clears the loop in case you mouseout before you reach the range.
    Make sure that myVar is a global variable so you can clear it from the mouseout section.
    Repeat this for each point on the clock.  To avoid potential conflicts, you may want to use my12, my1, my2, etc. instead of myVar.  I put the milliseconds at the top that you would use as the beginning of the range.  50 milliseconds should be enough to catch it.  So, for 5 o' clock, you would make your range between 1250 and 1300.
    Let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks!
    Fred

  • Saving report output to a file on the server.

    Hi,
    We are using BI Publisher Standalone version 10.1.3.3.1.
    Is it possible to schedule a report to output to a file on the server?
    I want the whole report to be saved as a file on the server.
    This is somewhat similar to bursting to a file system, but, I don't want to split the output.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Nanda

    Yes, use the scheduler and schedule the report,
    do the bursting into FTP or
    schedule the report to run and run it into FTP as a single FILE.
    First option, you need to provide the query , with FTP server name, username, password etcccc.

    As the last post suggests, call Apple and order a replacement original disc for about $17.  They will ask you the model and serial numbers.
    Your retail version of Snow Leopard OS 10.6.3 will not work on that Mac as it requires a minimum of OS X 10.6.7 to boot and operate.
    Another alternative is to again borrow another Mac to install your retail Snow Leopard into an external HD or partition, upgrade it to 10.6.8 and then clone it back to a partition on your MBP.

    Hey,
    Maybe you could integrate this in your code. It will increment the number in the filename every half second.

  • How to play an audio file from the begin.........

    Hello to everybody,
    I am working on a application that is supposed to manage audio file. At the moment I 'm using the SourceDataLine instead of the Clip. But I've got a problem. When the user pushes the Stop button I want that if he pushes Play again the track starts from the begin. I've used the drain() and flush() method but it doesn't work because the track resumes from the point when has been interrupted. Here part of the code:
    @Override
    public void run()
    try
    if(dataline!=null)
    dataline.open(audio_format);
    dataline.start();
    int i=0;
    while((i=audio_input_stream.read(buffer, 0, buffer.length))!=-1 && flag==false)
    if(i>0)
    dataline.write(buffer, 0, i);
    dataline.drain();
    dataline.stop();
    dataline.flush();
    dataline=null;
    dataline.close();
    And also I'd like to know how to navigate through the audio file by a slider or something like that, so how much time is passed.
    Thank you in advance.

  • How do I automatically create a new file at the beginning of a new day, otherwise I only want to append that days file?

    In my robotics application I store my data using "Write to Spreadsheet.vi". I would like to append the file each time I run the program on any given day. On a NEW day I would automatically like to create a new file with a smiliar name and append that file for the day on which it is created. It's easy to do using the "Write to Measurement File. vi" but the text file created is vertical rather than horizontal, so I would like to use "Write to Spreadsheet". Any suggestions?
    Also how to I include my VI as part of this question for others to see?
    Thank you.

    Does the file you are writing have a timestamp in it?  If so you could read the timestamp from the last time it was written and see if the day has changed, handling the name of the file appropriately.  The easiest way to record the timestamp is probably to write the timestamp as the number of seconds that have elapsed since 12:00 am on Firday January 1st 1904 in UT.  The "Get Date/Time in Seconds" function will give you this value.

  • How can I add a .mov video file to the beginning of an existing .mp4 video file?

    I normally use final cut for all of my editing but Im having a lot of trouble converting this mp4 with bad pixelation.

    It has some bad opening titles I need to alter and I need to slap my production logo on the front before I can even think of releasing this again.

  • Saving JSP report output as a file on the application server

    I am trying to determine if it is possible to save a web based JSP report to the file system in the same way you can with a report generated via the rwservlet command. I am specifying DESTYPE=HTML and DESNAME=/home/mydirectory/abc.htm on the command line, but it seems to be ignored. The directory has 777 permissions on it.
    1. Is it possible to save the JSP output onto the file system just like paper based reports?
    2. Where, if any, is documentation addressing this issue? The reports deployment guide appendix lists all the URL parameters that are available to the various rw commands, but nowhere is discussed what params are relavent to JSP reports.
    3. If it is not possible to do this via the URL, does anyone know if I can somehow fetch out the inner HTML from the generated page at the bottom pf the JSP and then write it to the file system using JAVA? I know how to do it via JavaScript, but the reports are run on UNIX. Is there someway I can access the DOM inside the JSP?
    4. Why hasn't Oracle explained this better?
    Thanks,
    matt

    Thanks for getting back to me. But the documentation link below takes me to running rwservlet requests. This was not what I needed. The good news is my most excellent DBA, Manoj Gandhi, found an old TAR in Metalink that emphatically states that what I am trying to do is not possible. See Note:272401.1
    Well, sort of not possible...
    As it turns out it is possible, but you must schedule the report for immediate execution using the rwservlet's scheduling facility. Again, this came to me via my DBA. The TAR for this piece is Note:295420.1. Ignore the rwservlet urlparameter= part as best I can tell it's gibberish. Below is what I did. Substitute your info for the stuff in UPPER CASE and put it all on one contiguous line of course:
    http://SERVER:PORT/PATH/rwservlet
    ?server=REPORT_SERVER_NAME
    &destype=file
    &desname=A_PATH_AND_FILE_FILE_NAME_WITH_EXTENSION
    &jobtype=rwurl
    &schedule=
    &urlparameter=http://SERVER:PORT/PATH/JSP_NAME?userid=USERID&OTHER_PARAMETERS...
    I am not sure why cmdkey= fails when passed in the urlparameter= but I am working on a solution!

  • Selecting existing file in "Save as" dialog isn't adding the extension

    I just bought a new Mac with Snow Leopard to replace my Leopard Mac and have noticed an annoying difference with the "Save As" dialog boxes in every application. In Leopard, I used to be able to select an existing file to overwrite that file. In Snow Leopard, it's letting me select an existing file, but the extension is not being added to the file name, so it's creating a new file with the same name but without the extension. I also don't have the "Hide Extension" checkbox that used to be in Leopard. I have spent all evening looking for this but haven't been able to find anything, which implies to me that I must have some setting wrong or something (or I'm just not searching the right terms, it's hard to know what to search for); anyway, does anyone know what I need to do to change this to act the way I expect it to? Thanks -

    jscher:
    Thanks. The /tmp and home directories are on the same partition as the main operating system. The Downloads directory is actually set up as a sub-directory of the home one but is a symbolic link to a NAS drive. It works fine for other MIME types. It is just when web sites use the application/octet-stream MIME type that I get this problem.
    I checked the permissions and the /tmp and Downloads directories have full read write permissions for everyone. The home directory is the one with the restriction that only I can write to it.
    So, I don't expect that sheds any light on the problem.
    cor-el:
    Thanks. I meant to say in my first post (but pressed the button before it got in) that I actually created a completely new Firefox profile and the problem is still there. Sorry, I should have included that.
    The only difference with the fresh profile is that the "open in default application" isn't available, presumably because no default application has been assigned. The "save as" behaviour is still the same.
    So, if the problem exists in a pristine profile, it looks like there is something deeper wrong.

  • How can I write new objects to the existing file with already written objec

    Hi,
    I've got a problem in my app.
    Namely, my app stores data as objects written to the files. Everything is OK, when I write some data (objects of a class defined by me) to the file (by using writeObject method from ObjectOutputStream) and then I'm reading it sequencially by the corresponding readObject method (from ObjectInputStream).
    Problems start when I add new objects to the already existing file (to the end of this file). Then, when I'm trying to read newly written data, I get an exception:
    java.io.StreamCorruptedException
    at java.io.ObjectInputStream.readObject0(Unknown Source)
    at java.io.ObjectInputStream.readObject(Unknown Source)
    Is there any method to avoid corrupting the stream? Maybe it is a silly problem, but I really can't cope with it! How can I write new objects to the existing file with already written objects?
    If anyone of you know something about this issue, please help!
    Jai

    Here is a piece of sample codes. You can save the bytes read from the object by invoking save(byte[] b), and load the last inserted object by invoking load.
