Output Suppression With COMPUTE/BREAK used
I'm having trouble getting a SQL script to suppress ALL output if there are no rows returned. I am using COMPUTE/BREAK to compute and display some counts and sums and I need them to appear when rows are returned.
I am using a UNIX shell script to monitor the creation of an output file from the SQL script (I use the SPOOL command in the SQL script). If output (report) is produced, I send and e-mail to the user and if there is no output I would like to NOT send the e-mail.
I use this method successfully with other SQL scripts that do not use the COMPUTE/BREAK functionality.
When I use the COMPUTE/BREAK commands and there are no rows returned, I still get the row headings, title and the 'sum' and 'count' labels but obviously no data.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Just like "count(*) from ..." always returns a row, so does compute.
You may run your query first to see if it is going to return any rows. If so, you turn on spooling and run the query again. If not, you exit sqlplus.

Boy, you are not kidding, I was running both the cloud and CS6, and I was ready to throw in the towel.
I have changed computer's twice now, have a solid state hd, (which I love) with 10 terabytes on externals, I run NOTHING except adobe's stuff on my HD now, and only one version of it, and it runs like a dream.
So, I updated the OS to win 8.1, updated my peripherals,
I dumped CS6 (hated to, but for some reason my 3D won't work on it, it works fine with the cloud) but in CS6 the software was turning it off after adobe's last update.
I've made a virtual machine for my development environments which do not play well with adobe's stuff.
My rule of thumb has always been double what the manufacturer states is required for RAM, but imho, with my current upgrades: upgraded to win8.1, and other peripherals, spent two weeks changing stuff over and it's about 100 times better than trying to run CC and CS6. - No kidding, the change is astronomical
But for anything PC I'm way over powered, and for Adobe, I'm still underpowered.
Next, I'll just get a mac for Adobe, and stick with my pc's for ms/CentOS. Too, it seems like since the cloud was initiated Adobe is rolling out the updates faster and changes without warning. The processor/3D issue, I had no warning on it, just woke up one day and "no more 3d" :S
But I do love the cloud, so, guess there's got to be some dark lining to it. <g> -

I require list of words with hyphenation breaking used in English:US dictionary. I have reviewed in InDesign supporting files in my local folder but I couldn't get. Can anybody assist?

MasthanInDesign uses Proximity dictionaries for most languages to verify spelling and to hyphenate words. You can add words to each dictionary to customize it. You can assign different languages to text, and InDesign uses the appropriate dictionary to handle spelling and hyphenation.
There are possible breakpoints the dictionary will consider and then show up in the InDesign , if you want to know between which two syllables Indesign’s dictionary prefers to hyphenate, and what other possible breakpoints the dictionary will consider.
Choose Edit > Spelling > User Dictionary.
In the Language menu, choose a language. Each language contains at least one dictionary. If you want the word to be added to all languages, choose All Languages.
In the Target menu, choose the dictionary where you want to store the word. The Target menu lets you store the changes in an external user dictionary or in any open document.
In the Dictionary List menu, choose Added Words.
In the Word box, type or edit the word to be added to the word list.
Click Hyphenate to see the word’s default hyphenation. Tildes (~) indicate possible hyphenation points.
If you don’t like the hyphenation points, follow these guidelines to indicate your preferred hyphenation of the word:
Type one tilde (~) to indicate the best possible hyphenation points, or the only acceptable hyphenation point, in the word.
Type two tildes (~~) to indicate your second choice.
Type three tildes (~~~) to indicate a poor but acceptable hyphenation point.
If you want the word never to be hyphenated, type a tilde before its first letter.If you need to include an actual tilde in a word, type a backslash before the tilde (\~).
Click Add, and then click Done. The word is added to the currently selected Dictionary List.
Note: Remember that hyphenation points interact with the hyphenation settings in your documents. As a result, the word might not break where you expect it to. Control these settings by choosing Hyphenation in the Paragraph panel menu.
By default, hyphenation and spelling exceptions are located in user dictionary files stored outside the document on the computer where InDesign is installed (dictionary file names end with a .clam or .not extension). However, you can also store exception lists inside any InDesign document. In addition, you can store word lists in an external user dictionary, in the document, or in both. The location of existing dictionaries appears in the Dictionary preferences. -
Connect E63 with computer and use Internet on hand...

I would like to know if we can connect our mobile handset - E63 with the desktop and have access to Internet on E63 using the internet connection active / available on the desktop?
Eg: I have an image or a word file on my E63 that I wish to e-mail using the Internet browser. I would like to connect my E63 with my desktop / laptop using the data cable or bluetooth dongle and use the Internet connection available on the desktop ( when I do not have internet available on my E63) and then e-mail the image or Word file using the browser.
If yes, please let me know the complete procedure for the same?

Message Edited by loverspoint4 on 09-Sep-2009 05:30 PMI've done it through WLAN. My Mac is connected by cable to the internet and I just set it up to share the internet connection via Airport (Apple's Wireless Network). Then the phone detects it as WIFI and off it goes. (a bit slow, though).
But I'm thinking you mean connecting to a PC via data cable. I've heard someone do this with a Windows Mobile smartphone. Not sure if the S60 can be tinkered enough to make it work. (have a look see at www.modaco.org) -
Hi Everyone,
I have a program that sends information(analog output) to lab windows cvi in the form of a text file or user input.
The program runs on the computers that I have the field point explorer and lab windows cvi installed on. In order to run the program without always installing labwindows/cvi and field point; I wanted to create an executable file that could be load on another computer.
I used the create distribution kit part of labwindows/cvi to do this.After creating the distribution kit, I then installed it
to another computer.
My user interface appears on the screen, when the user clicks on the exe. file, but no data is sent to the field point module. I know that the data is being read from the user and textfile because in it appears in the uir.
The following are some details about the problem:
1. On another computer without labwindows/cvi and field point explorer not installed - no data is sent to field point module
I know this because a current is being read on the current meter connected to field point module.
My questions are the following:
1. What are the possible reasons for the data not being sent to the field point module?
2. Do I still need to create an iak. (Installing Field point Explorer) file stored on any new computer that I install my created distribution kit file too?

1) If you do not install FieldPoint Explorer, the FieldPoint Server is not installed so there is nothing on the target computer that knows how to talk to the FieldPoint system.
2) Yes, you need an IAK file on the target computer. Assuming the settings (i.e. com port#) are identical you can simply include the iak file as part of the distribution.
3) You also need to include as part of your installer the file "fplwmgr.dll". If this file is not installed, your program will not be able to access the FieldPoint Server. Alternatively, this file is installed automatically if FieldPoint Explorer detects LabWindows/CVI or Measurement Studio Development versions on the target computer or if you choose to do a custom FieldPoint Explorer installation and
choose to provide LabWindows/CVI support.

I can't answer to all your questions, however I can tell you that:
2) The directory where to put the report file is specifiend in a file named
<serverName>.conf
in the sourceDire property

that you can find under ORACLE_HOME/reports/conf
3) The URL is

5) In IE you have only to set the previous URL in the address bar.

I found an old Applie ID on a computer I use infreqently with an old IPod. I do not have the password for this AppleID. When I use the procedure to reset the password, I cannot receive the email as my email address has changed from the original used with the Apple ID. How can I get the reset information sent to my current email addres so I can establish a new passwod for this Applie ID?
FR Tecmobility is wrong, sure he means well but what he suggests will not work - signing out of iTunes Store and back in will have no effect on iCloud. Try the steps at iOS 7: If you're asked for the password to your previous Apple ID when signing out of iCloud
You may need to contact apple tech support if none of the password change methods work for you. Ask for Account Security. They will need to verify identity, to ensure you are who you claim to be. If that goes well, they can send a password rest e-mail to any e-mail you desigate, so make sure it is one you can access. Then reset the password. Then you can delete the iCloud account (needs the password to turn off find My Phone/Activation lock)

Lion 10.7.2 On both mac book pro and iMac, both with Lion 10.7.2, obtain repeated iCal event notifications from calendar or address book. Cannot turn these off. They repeat several times per session and every time computer is used. How to diagnose this?
First, uninstall "SuperTV" (whatever that is) according to the developer's instructions. It isn't working and it's filling the log with noise.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application.
Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Post the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message. When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
PLEASE DO NOT INDISCRIMINATELY DUMP THOUSANDS OF LINES FROM THE LOG INTO A MESSAGE. If you do that, I will not respond.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.
Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful. -
I bought my own laptop (Macbook Pro) and set it up and am using wifi that my parents use on their computer. Everything was working great until I wanted to put my itunes from the desktop to my laptop. I used my Mom's sign on of her apple id and since then when I log on to my laptop it says another computer is using my ip address...what do I do? Thanks!

Does the symptom occur with more than one Wi-Fi device?
Wi-Fi issues may be related to the network in question or they may be related to the Wi-Fi computer joining that network. Usually, if other computers or devices (such as the Apple TV or iPhone) are able to get on the Internet without issues, then your Wi-Fi router is probably fine.
If you only have one Wi-Fi device, proceed with this article.
Make sure your software is up-to-date.
Install all software updates available for your Mac.
If you use a third-party Wi-Fi router, check with the manufacturer to confirm that it has the latest firmware installed. If an update is available, follow the manufacturer's instructions for updating the firmware.

Check your connections.
Some networking issues may be caused by loose or disconnected cables. Verify that all Ethernet and power cables connected between your modem and your Wi-Fi router are correct. If you have phone service through your ISP, power cycling your modem may interrupt that service. Ensure that you have alternative means to contact your ISP (such as a cell phone) to avoid unnecessary delays in restoring your Internet or phone service
And if this does not get the network connection going again I would use the troubleshooting from down the bottom in the section labeled Symptom: My Mac does not connect to the Internet.

To update your phone requires using the latest version of iTunes, on your computer, as well as Internet access. The update to iOS 5.0 or higher is an erase/restore deal, so you not only have to make sure all of the content, currently on your phone, is on your computer and accessible, you need to update iTunes first, have Internet access, then update your phone. There is no way around this fact. You could go to an Apple store or use another computer, but you run the risk of losing all of your data it you do that.

USB2 is glacial, as I/O interconnects go. And USB2 disks have been known to fail, or sometimes to drop back to USB1 speeds, too. FireWire 800 is substantially faster than USB2, but still not as fast as the internal drive connections can provide.
Put another way, start varying your configuration, and see which configuration changes (still) have the problem, and which don't. -

How to Suppress Report Total When Using Sum on Columns & Break Formatting
I need to know how to NOT show the report total line when using the sum functionality with a break in a report.
I am summing two columns, a debit amount and credit amount. I am breaking on the first column which is the level of a hierarchical query. I want to see something like this:
Parent Record xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Parent Sum $$ $$
Child Record xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Child Record xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Child Sum $$ $$
However, when I run the report, I also get a report total line under the child sum which is really meaningless for this report.
I have also tried creating this report as an interactive report. When applying the sum on the two columns, I do get the sum totals on the break only - no report total - however, it is reversing the order of the hierarchical query results putting the child records first and the parent records second.

I don't think that there's an easy way to "switch off" the Total line on a report. The nearest I could suggest would be to either hide the entire row or colour the text so that it's the same as the background - either way, the total is calculated but the user won't see it.
If you put something like the following into your report region's Region Footer:

The above code is based on the report and region templates that I'm using here: [http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=267:147] (Theme 18, "Report Region" region template and "Standard" report template). Your report may use different templates, so the first two lines on the code may have to change. #REGION_ID# would be replaced with the region's ID value (which would be "R" followed by a long number). As long as you can identify the HTML tag that uses this ID value, you can then get to the actual table that contains the data as it would be a TABLE within that tag - the [1] above is the second table within the region. In some instances, you may have to use "region_#REGION_ID#" as the starting point.
