Outputting multiple variable types from single output vi

Hello,
I am trying to make a vi that takes some inputs (they are not too relevant to my problem) and has a single output.
My problem is that I'd like the output variable type to be left unknown until runtime.
For example, the vi will decide appropriately when to output an integer, string or double variable type.
Furthermore, inside the vi, I need a way to select the appropriate variable type to send, hence I need a way to check the type of a variable (I don't really know how to do that either).
Can someone give me some advice?
Thanks
David

Data types are determined at compile time.  You cannot have a run-time decision for a data type.

  • How to generate multiple idoc's from single appl document

    All,
    Iam looking for a way to generate multiple idoc's from single appl document (sales order). Based on the plant details on line items in the sales order i have to generate multiple idocs, i.e., send one idoc to each plant entered in sales order line items. any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    You can create a Z-program and call Function Module  <b>MASTER_IDOC_DISTRIBUTE</b>.
    You can make a call to this FM to send the Idoc as many times as u have plants in your Sales Order.
    You can call FM <b>IDOC_OUTPUT_ORDRSP</b> to fill the IDoc structure.
    Then u can keep the materials of only that plant for which u want to pass on the information.
    Thanks,
    Utsah Garg.

  • Want to add multiple idoc type with single message type.

    Hi Gurus,
    I have a problem. I want to add multiple idoc type with single message type in WE20.
    How we can do this in WE20 or is there any other way to do that?
    Please help me.
    Thanks in advance.
    Srimanta.

    hi,
    basically in partner profile i.e. in we20 , we add details to the receiver / sender port that we have created using we21.
    so what exactly we do in that is that we first use the message type for those idocs that we have created.
    now based on those message type we create a process code. now this is the reason why you cannot apply several message types with the same name in we20... as process code is unque for each message type.
    so thats why you can only assign the same message name to several idocs in we82 and then in we20 define the process code for that message type.
    it will solve your problem.
    hope this will help you!!!
    Thanks & regards,

    i already change on vov7 as per picture below:
    on VTFL i already configured as below:
    on V/CL, auto batch determination not active
    but when we create an invoice via VF01 > selection list. the open quantity is disabled (grayed):
    can anyone help me, why its still grayed? if there is any wrong configuration please let me know.

    Go VF01, click on selection list button (fn key - F2) and you can modify the quantity there.

  • Create multiple sales orders from single service notification?

    Is it possible to create multiple sales orders from a single notification (IW51)?
    We currently create sales orders directly within transaction IW51 (Create Service Notification).  We kick off the sales order creation by pressing the "SALES ORD." button in the notification screen.  We're now interested in creating a 2nd Sales Order which would tie directly to the same Service Notification.  This is so that we can have the second order assigned to a different account assignment WBS (there are two different parties doing work on the service notification).
    I assume you would have to go to VA01 to create the Sales Order, but am not sure how to tie it directly to the service notification from here.  I treied to do a create with reference, but there is no ability to create with reference to a service notification.
    Do I have to create a second service notification for the 2nd Sales Order for this to work?  I want to avoid doing this if at all possible.
    I'm running SAP R/3 Enterprise
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi,
    go to vtaa- copy controls for sales document to sales document.
    select your combination of order and quotation go to item level. There select value 0(zero) in field positive/negative negative.
    No need to change update document flow.
    After setting zero in copy control that be told on above. create order with respective to the quotation.
    After saving the order.
    go to document flow to see the status in between quotation and order.
    If you placed setting right, then u certainly observe for quotation status will be open. so you can create no. of sales order with respect to that quotation..
    Have a good day..

  • Multiple report fields from single physical column.

    Hi Experts,
    I have a physical table like below. Multiple records for a single customer id. The no of Address_type may increase in future.
    Customer_id     Address_Type         Address
    101                  Primary                   abcdefgh
    101                  Secondary               234oij3mb4
    101                  Billing                      mdmnweoij4
    102................etc.
    My Requirement on OBIEE is to display report as below.
    Customer_ID, Primary_Address, Secondary_Address, Billing_Address.
    101                 abcdefgh            234oij3mb4               mdmnweoij4
    Multiple report fields ( Primary_Address, Secondary_Address, Billing_Address ) are derived from same physical column ADDRESS.
    I tried to duplicate the Address column on the report thrice and added conditions like Address_Type = Primary/Secondary/Billing for those three fields respectively.
    But only of the field is getting correct data and rest of duplicate columns are null.
    Tried FILTER function on OBI Answers, but the function fails saying it should be used only on measures.
    Thought the alternative would be to define multiple logical columns at BMM layer. Created multiple alias for same table at physical layer and correspondingly created LTS for each on a single logical table. Defined Fragmentation/Where conditions.
    LTS1 - Address_Type = PRIMARY
    LTS2 - Address_Type - SECONDARY
    LTS3 - Address_Type - BILLING
    Created multiple logical columns from each LTS like Primary_Address, Secondary_Address, Billing_Address from LTS1, LTS2, LTS3 respectively.
    This time, am getting data for all the fields on the report but getting cartesian result.
    Can someone guide me whether my approach is correct or any other alternate best approach to achieve the desired result.
    Note: I have the data Address on multiple physical rows for a customer, rather Not in a single row. which is causing me problem.
    Thanks...
    Ramchand.

    Hi Srini VEERAVALLI,
    I have lot many other fields in the same report coming from other tables.
    Does the Pivot table option for above mentioned Address fields affect other columns?
    If Yes, Can there be any other alternative? Am thinking of Opaque View at Physical layer to bring all Addresses on a single row.
    Thanks...
    Ramchand.

  • How to use multiple tape drive from single client when I want to backup single filesystem?

    Hello All.
    I want to backup 1 filesystem using 4 tape drives for reducing backup time.
    In case of symantec veritas netbackup, they can user "NEW_STREAM" for multi-streaming backup.
    Please anybody let me know that how to do use multiple tape drive for single client.
    1. Backup Source server : Linux (1 client)
    2. Backup Soucre :      /data1  (500GB)
        -> Current directory structure doesn't have sub directory under /data1, just files present under /data1
    If direcotry struceture has a sub-direcotry like( /data1/aaa, /data1/bbb ), Is it availble to use multiple tape drives?
    3. Tape Drive with OSB : LTO6 * 4 drives
    Thank you.

    You would have to create a different dataset for each sub-folder. If you only have files at the top level folder then even the NEW_STREAM option couldn't be used to split the job.
    Organise it into folders and then create datasets in a client folder such as :
    /usr/local/oracle/backup/admin/config/dataset/Linux/data1_aaa
    /usr/local/oracle/backup/admin/config/dataset/Linux/data1_bbb
    Then in the schedule you just specify the Linux folder. In each dataset you list the hostname and the folder name, such as :
    include host Linux
    include path /data1/aaa
    Now it will create a new job for each dataset and therefore each folder.
    Thanks

  • Reading a multiple record types from a single File using BPEL file adapter

    Hi all.
    We have a requirement where we want to read a CSV file using the BPEl adapter.
    Following is the sample of csv file
    HDR,1,2,3
    ---- First transaction starts----
    TH,1,2,3
    RSD,1,1
    RSD,1,1
    TD,1
    -------Second transaction starts---
    TH,1,2,3
    RSD,1,1
    RSD,1,1
    RSD,1,1
    RSD,1,2
    TD,1
    TD,1
    -------------Third Transaction starts---
    TH,1,2,3
    RSD,1,1
    TD,1
    TD,1
    TD,1
    TD,1
    -------------Fourth Transaction starts---
    TH,1,2,3
    LN,1,1,1,1,2
    -----End of File---
    TAIL
    I have modified the file with some comments to have some clear understanding.
    Basically our file is a transactions file from legacy system & contains mutliple transactions
    First line will be a Header record starting "HDR" & contains all summary details about the file.
    After it is details of all transactions thorughout the day, each transaction begins with record starting "TH".As shown in all transactions above.EAch transaction can have other multiple records like the RSD & TD shown above.
    Our need is to read each transaction from the file & create an instance.How can we configure BPEL to grab the data starting with TH till it encounter's another TH.
    Please advise
    Krunal

    You can't use the wizard to create a schema if a file as complex as this. the good news is that you can create one yourself. What you need to do is create standard xsd that will handle your file, then what you do is add the terminators that determine when a field stops.
    Here is an example, hopefully this provides you enough infor for you to make your own.

  • Pulling multiple variables into a single line?

    There really seems like an easy fix to this, but I'm just not finding it on my own here.
    Here's my setup: I've got four variables that are pulling data from our system: Customer Address, City, State, and Zip - for some silly reason we do not have a single variable for all of these combined.
    As such, I'm trying to include all of thee variables in one field, this is what I've got set up as of now:
    Four Invisible fields that pull this data into the form individually
    One field titled "Customer_Address Line"
    A formcalc line with the following data:
    Customer_Address_Line = CUSTOMER_ADDRESS + CUSTOMER_CITY + CUSTOMER_CATE + CUSTOMER_ZIPCODE
    I've tried various different methods to try to get this to print correctly but in the end I've only managed to confuse myself.
    The best I can get is only the zipcode to print.
    What am I missing???
    Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks

    Radzmar is right .....you  need the concat function to add strings together in FormCalc. Your technique is used with Javascript.
    The object names are case sensitive so make sure you have the right case. Also you can put yor cursor in the script editor wher you want the reference to the object placed, then hold down the ctrl key and move your mouse to the desired field (the cursor will change to a V). Now click on the mouse and a reference will be placed in the script editor.
    Hope that helps

  • [Solved] How to create multiple target nodes from single input node (XSL)

    Hello all,
    I have identified what I think is a bug in the visual XSLT mapper (JDev 10.1.3.3). Here is the simplified scenario:
    I have a source XML file that contains a bill-to address and a ship-to address, something like this:
    <header>
    <bill-to-name>My Customer Bill To</bill-to-name>
    <bill-to-address>123 main street</bill-to-address>
    <ship-to-name>My Customer Ship To</ship-to-name>
    <ship-to-address>567 first avenue</ship-to-address>
    </header>I want to translate it to a target XML file that looks like this:
    <addresses>
    <address>
    <address-type>BILLTO</address-type>
    <name>My Customer Bill To</name>
    <street-address>123 main street</street-address>
    </address>
    <address>
    <address-type>SHIPTO</address-type>
    <name>My Customer Ship To</name>
    <street-address>567 first avenue</street-address>
    </address>
    </addresses>Note that what I am trying to do is to create two nodes in the target (something like a for-each), but where there is no repeating node in the source.
    I was able to do this quite simply with a map like this:
    <xsl:template match="/">
      <ns2:addresses>
        </ns2:address>
          <ns2:address-type>
            <xsl:text disable-output-escaping="no">BILLTO</xsl:text>
          </ns2:address-type>
          <ns2:name>
            <xsl:value-of select="/ns1:header/bill_to_name"/>
          </ns2:name>
          <ns2:street-address>
            <xsl:value-of select="/ns1:header/bill_to_address"/>
          </ns2:name>
        </ns2:address>
        </ns2:address>
          <ns2:address-type>
            <xsl:text disable-output-escaping="no">SHIPTO</xsl:text>
          </ns2:address-type>
          <ns2:name>
            <xsl:value-of select="/ns1:header/ship_to_name"/>
          </ns2:name>
          <ns2:street-address>
            <xsl:value-of select="/ns1:header/ship_to_address"/>
          </ns2:name>
        </ns2:address>
      </ns2:addresses>
    </xsl:template>As long as I only use the source view for the xsl file, this works fine and tests just fine. As soon as I switch over to the graphical (design view), the source gets mangled to:
    <xsl:template match="/">
      <ns2:addresses>
        </ns2:address>
          <ns2:address-type>
            <xsl:text disable-output-escaping="no">BILLTOSHIPTO</xsl:text>
          </ns2:address-type>
          <ns2:name>
            <xsl:value-of select="/ns1:header/bill_to_name"/>
            <xsl:value-of select="/ns1:header/ship_to_name"/>
          </ns2:name>
          <ns2:street-address>
            <xsl:value-of select="/ns1:header/bill_to_address"/>
            <xsl:value-of select="/ns1:header/ship_to_address"/>
          </ns2:name>
        </ns2:address>
      </ns2:addresses>
    </xsl:template>which obviously does not work.
    So:
    1). Should my original map work? If not, what is the correct way to do it?
    2). If the map should work (it does), this looks like a bug in the design view.
    3). If my map should work, is there a way to do this in the design view?
    Kind regards,
    John

    John,
    GUI has limited functionality and hence it does not support all the constructs. If you want to implement soln that is visible in gui follow this steps.
    for-each(bill-to-name)
         create <address>tag
         map concat(BILLTO) to <address-type>
         map value of <bill-to-name> to <name>
         map value of <bill-to-address> to <street-address>
    select the for-each you created - right click -> add xsl node ->clone for-each
         repeat similar steps for mapping <ship-to_name>...etc
    If you still unsure send me the source & target xsd and I will send the xsl your way. You can email me at [email protected]

  • Reading non-standard variable types from file

    Hi,
    I'm currently on a programming course, and I need some help with an excercise.
    The excercise is about adding save, load and undo features to an Infocom style text adventure. The save file must contain three variables: The location of the player (Area), the items the player had (ArrayList<Item>) and the number of passed turns (int.)
    Is it possible to write to & read from file with these type of variables? Or do I have to convert them to Area to String (saving) and from String to Area (loading)?
    Thanks for the help in advance.

    You should probably take a look at Java Serialization (google on that)

  • Bug when attempting to burn multiple CD's from single playlist. Confirm?

    When I attempted to burn a CD from a playlist that was too large for a single CD iTunes asked if I wished to burn it onto multiple CD's. I said yes. It did so except that the metadata was stripped from the tracks. When I tried again, separating the tracks for each CD into their own playlist the metadata was added to each CD without a hitch. So, I believe the issue is caused by having multiple CD's worth of songs in a single playlist but if someone would confirm that would be great. I would test myself but I don't have any Re-Writable CD's and don't feel like wasting another two CD's for the sake of the cause.
    PS- Yes, I checked the "Include CD Text."

    Yes we can confirm that.
    The iTunes feature to burn a single long playlist across multiple CDs has always been problematic and unreliable.
    In general, folks can save themselves a lot of frustration by breaking the big playlist into individual lists that can each fit on one CD.

  • How to parse multiple xml documents from single buffer

    Hello,
    I am trying to use jaxb 2.0 to parse a buffer which contains multiple xml documents. However, it seems that it is meant to only parse a single document at a time and throws an exception when it gets to the 2nd document.
    Is there a way I can tell jaxb to only parse the first complete document and not fetch the next one out of the buffer? Or what is the most efficient way to separate the buffer into two documents without parsing it manually. If I have to search the buffer for the next document root and then split the buffer, it seems like that defeats the purpose of using jaxb as the parser.
    I am using the Unmarshaller.unmarshall method and the exception I am getting is:

    Thank you for your help

    It's just like any other XML parser, it's only designed to parse one XML document. If you have something that concatenates two XML documents together (that's what your "buffer" sounds like), then stop doing that.

  • Passing multiple variables types to Backgroundworker

    Hello everybody ,
    This question has been asked many times , but I will can't make it work, I want to pass (string , serial port object ,and form.label)
    here is my code :
    Public switch As String = "request"
    Public sp1 As New IO.Ports.SerialPort
    Public arg As New List(Of Object)
    Private Sub Gsload()
    arg.Add(sp1)
    arg.Add(CObj(switch))
    arg.Add(label1)
    BackgroundWorker1.RunWorkerAsync(arg)
    End Sub
    Private Sub BackgroundWorker1_DoWork(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.ComponentModel.DoWorkEventArgs) Handles BackgroundWorker1.DoWork
    Dim arglist As List(Of Object) = TryCast(e.Argument, List(Of Object))
    Dim sp1 As IO.Ports.SerialPort = CType(arglist(0), IO.Ports.SerialPort) getdata(arglist(0))
    Dim swt As String = CStr(arglist(1))
    getdata2(sp1,arglist(2).text)
    End Sub
    It is not working , I do not know why
    thnx for your help :)
    Hey :)

    You didn't say what the problem is. I suspect the problem is that the elements in arglist as Objects and you want to treat them as particular types of object.
    What does the getdata method expect as its argument? If it expects a SerialPort, you will need to change arglist(0) to SerialPort.
    getdata(CType(arglist(0), IO.Ports.SerialPort))
    The value you stored in arglist(2) was a Label. If you want to access the Label's properties, you will need to convert arglist(2) from Object to Label.
    Dim myLabel as Label = CType(arglist(2), Label)
    getdata2(CType(arglist(0), IO.Ports.SerialPort), myLabel.Text)
    Hello , Thnx for your answer and sorry my question wasnt clear at all ,
    My problem is that I cannot use the string like this :
    Private Sub BackgroundWorker1_DoWork(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.ComponentModel.DoWorkEventArgs) Handles BackgroundWorker1.DoWork
    Dim arglist As List(Of Object) = TryCast(e.Argument, List(Of Object))
    Dim sp1 As IO.Ports.SerialPort = CType(arglist(0), IO.Ports.SerialPort)
    Dim swt As String = CType(arglist(1), String)
    If swt = "request" Then
    switchdmm(sp1, "Auto")
    End If
    e.Result = getdata(sp1)
    End Sub
    even if swt = "request" it always skip it and execute e.result = getdata(sp1)
