OWB-Workflow fails with RPE-01008, RPE-01009

Hi!
I migrated a project from OWB 9.2.0.4 to OWB 10.1.0.2 and created a simple workflow calling a procedure, an OWB mapping and a function in exactly this order. The procedure does nothing (select user from dual) the mapping copies the contents of one table to another and the function should insert a record into a table. The "do nothing" procedure works fine (it gets an OK in the OWF-Monitor), he mapping copies the required data into a different table without any errors. In OWF-Monitor, the function look like it was executed, but when looking in OWB Audit Browser I get RPE-01008, RPE-01009 error messages. The function did not insert the required data.
I tried to create a small test project in OWB in order send it to Oracle Support, but an identical workflow in the test project works fine without any errors. All objects of the workflow perform like programmed.
Has anybody experienced a similar behavior? To me it, there is no difference in the project. Migration worked without any errors. The OWB 9i connected against 9.2.0.5 database and OWF 2.6.2, OWB10g uses a 10g database with OWF 2.6.3.
Hope anybody can help!
Regards
Michael

well ....
Could it not be that the upgrade process cleared out the problem, since the process does touch the runtime repos?
We have had similiar problem on our installation, but that came up after moving from 10.1.0.2 to 10.1.0.4
But moving to the lastest version was a very good idea, and will help us to be better ready when the long awaited "Paris" walks into town

  • Automator Workflow Fails with Cryptic Error Message

I'm updating an Automator workflow for OS X Lion that I initally developed and used, without issue, in OS X Tiger. The workflow asks for a name, creates a folder for the name, takes a digital image with a Nikon D50 connected to the computer, and saves the image to the new folder. This aspect of the workflow works fine.
I then have a prompt asking if we should take another. If the user says "yes," the script should take another image and save it to the folder. This is where I run into an issue. When I attempt to add another "Take a Picture Action" into the workflow, I get the cryptic (at least to me) error message in the attached screenshot.
    Here's the text:
"Cannot update for observer <AMWorkflow 0x400458ac0> for the key path "parameters.name" from <TakePicture 0x403e3b0a0>, most likely because the value for the key "parameters" has changed without an appropriate KVO notification being sent. Check the KVO-compliance of the TakePicture class."
The language of this error would seem to indicate a bug. Any thoughts on a fix or the means to report to Apple?

The subject of this post is a bit misleading. The workflow wasn't failing while I was running it, but rather when I was editing it and trying to include another 'Take a Picture' action in the same workflow.
The workaround I found was to use a 'Loop' action on the 'Take a Picture' action. It's a bit more elegant and doesn't require multiple 'Take a Picture' actions in the same workflow.
Nonetheless, what does this error message mean?

  • OWB import fails with corrupted repository error

    Hi,
Please anyone can suggest a solution for the below problem. I am trying to import set of changes done in development through a Colllection into acceptance. But it keeps failing due to the 'Corrupted Repository' error.
The OWB Version is OWB 11.1.0.7 which is upgraded version (from 11.1.0.6). I have also compared the SAP_FTP and Background values which are same (10007) on PROPERTYDEFINITION_V.
Also we have run the repository clean up scripts which reported no issues. But still the error is reported. Please help.

    Good morning,
When importing MDL file you should have an log file generated. This log file is usually in the same directory as your *.mdl unless specified differently. In the error you posted there is a JOU_JOU_FK and I think this is the corruption. Find the mapping using this table associated to this JOU_JOU_FK and drop the mapping first. Check the log generated from the import it may specify the mapping to drop.
I import my (collection) mdl's with TCL scripts and I generate errors log or completion log. This way I can track my deployment to other environment and see if all mappings were deployed and compiled properly. The first part of the log mentions if the MDL imported properly then I performs a validate on it. If i received and error during import the log will list the mapping.
example: Error at line 8,624: MDL1261: Error importing MAPPING .....
Sometimes if I have many mappings to drop. I may receive an error log and have to include the mapping to be dropped in my TCL script.

  • RPE-01008 and RPE-01009 when executing flatfile mappings

    Hi all,
I'm experiencing problems when executing a flatfile mapping on a large source file. My source-file is around 450Mb in size and contains around 2,5 Million records. When executing the generated SQL*LOADER control-file by hand all works fine. When executing the generated control-file through OWB on a smaller file also no problem occurs. But when executing the mapping on the large file the following error's are raised:
RPE-01008: Recovery of this request is in progress.
RPE-01009: Completion of this task could not be completed due to an earlier system failure.
    (See also log below)
I'm using OWB 9.2.0 on Solaris, but the problem occurs on a Windows2000 platform also.
Does anyone know what could be going wrong? Or is there anyone experiencing the same problem?
    Thx! in advantage!

Was just checking http://blogs.oracle.com/warehousebuilder, and noticed "david.allan" quite a number of times... sort of implies you're one of Oracle's current OWB guru's/program mgrs/some other role.
Back in 'the olden days" (i.e. the OWB9.0.3 days, mid 2003 onwards - for me anyway) it was Mark van der Wiel, Jean-Pierre Dijcks, Igor Machin and Nikolai Rochnik providing answers on the OWB forum.
For various reasons, only JP remained in the OWB team (and maybe even that has changed now...), since I haven't been a 'frequent flyer' since Dec2007, I lost track of that.
Even with a number of faithful developer contributors, it's good to now there are still some 'insiders' active on the forum :-)
    Cheers, Patrick

  • OWB 11gR2 - ORA-01017/ RPE-01008

    OWB 11gR2 - ORA-01017/ RPE-01008
    =======================================
I am using OWB 11gR2 (11.2.0.1) on Win XP 32 bit. We applied the suggested patches for our earlier issues.
We changed our database passwords. We tested our locations via location navigators/Control center. We did not get any errors. We are able to see the data for tables defined under modules on OWB design center.
We tested the defined DB LINKS via SQL Developer. Testing was OK .
We tried to deploy the mappings, we are getting
    *•     ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied*
*•     RPE-01008: Recovery of this request is in progress.*
I reviewed earlier posting, where some suggested to re-register the locations. Is it the right approach?
We have number of mappings worked OK before changing passwords.
What are the steps to resolve this issues?
We know that locations are linked via DB LINKS defined in database. How does changing passwords impact DB LINKS in database?
What is the recommended approach to change database passwords, when we work with OWB?
    What is happening here?
    Thanks in helping.

Thanks in for your reply. Is it a issue with in OWB?
This issue was raised in earlier versions as well. Are there any plan to fix this issue?
Do we have any standard script to work with in this situation?
I did not find any impact of DB LINK access in database level. I am able to simulate the situation using SQL, but it is working.
I am curious to know, what does OWB do differently with DB Link to cause this issue.
Is it a difficult issue to fix?
    Thanks in helping.

  • RPE-01008 & RPE-01009 during Process flows execution

    Hi,
I run a daily process to refresh my warehouse. This process is made up of a fairly large process flow package that calls up to 40 processes. I often get the RPE-01008 & RPE-01009 errors. Like I was advised previously, I checked the <OWB_HOME>log directory and got the following extract:

I will really appreciate as prompt answer as it is impacting on timelines.
    Thank you.
    Warmest Regards,
    Ademola Rotimi,
    EDW, MTN Nigeria.

I see the out of memory error which suggests that the runtime service is running out of memory. You can try to increase the memory allocated to the RTS.
To stop/start the runtime services manually, please execute stop_service.sql or start_service.sql from <OWB HOME>\owb\rtp\sql directory. You must run this from the runtime repository DB user. To check the status of the runtime service, please use the service_doctor.sql script in the same directory.
To increase the runtime memory, first stop the service by running stop_service.sql from the runtime repository schema, then editing the file <OWB HOME>\owb\bin\win32\run_service.bat (for Windows systems) or <OWB HOME>/owb/bin\win32/run_service.sh for unix systems. In this file, please change the parameters at the bottom. Instead of:
    ${JAVAEXE} -Xms64M -Xmx256
    put
    ${JAVAEXE} -Xms256M -Xmx1024
or as much as the platform memory allows.
    Regards:
    Igor

sorry for the delay but it's because of the holly-days
I'm using OWB and a local server (vsftpd) for testing purposes and yes i restarted my computer after editing the file, i even tried to change the values in my script but with no results, i started to think that the script is not the issue, i configured OWB according to its official documentation & I'm a little confused...
here's the content of my log file after pressing the start button:

  • No way to publish a workflow, I get this error: System.InvalidOperationException: Operation failed with error Microsoft.Workflow.Client.ScopeInactiveException: Scope ... is not in an active state. Its current state is 'Unregistering'

    Hi,
I'm using Project Server 2013 and I'm not able to publish a workflow in SharePoint Designer 2013, I get this error:
System.InvalidOperationException: Operation failed with error Microsoft.Workflow.Client.ScopeInactiveException: Scope '/SharePoint/default/d7feb9ea-ccb2-4ec3-8f89-2a45b6cf3777' is not in an active state. Its current

The thing is that I transferred the databases from a Prod.Env. to the Test Env. and from that moment on the Test Env. stopped working (only workflows), then I
was thinking that maybe the workflow is not working in the Test Environment because when I transferred the databases from Prod Env to Test Env I didn’t transfer the databases related to workflow, I only transferred:
    WSS_Content
    PWA_ServiceDB
    But I didn’t transfer:
    SBGatewayDatabase
    SBManagementDB
    SBMessageContainer01
    WFInstanceManagementDB
    WFManagementDB
    WFResourceManagementDB
I didn’t transfer them because, before, when I transferred DB’s in version 2010, these DB’s were not needed, as the workflows were done using another method.
So, I tried to create a new workflow in the Test Env. but there is no way, I always get that error.
I've tried to Register again the workflow, and the result looks ok, but it doesn't solve the problem:
    Register-SPWorkflowService
    –SPSite "http://whatever/PWA"
    –WorkflowHostUri "http://TestServer:12291"
    –AllowOAuthHttp -Force
Do you know how to solve this issue or have an idea to give me some light?
Thank you for your help and regards,
    José Espases

Looks like you haven't defined the WF scope or the site where you are trying to deploy the workflow to isn't included in the scope

    Hi,
For a better troubleshooting, I suggest you to do as follows:
    1. On server side you can access the Workflow.asmx from IE to make sure there are no problems in code logic.
    2. On client side you can also access Workflow.asmx from IE to see if it returns error.
    3. Check the link below:
    http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg02092.html
If you want to operate the workflow in Client-Side,  we can use Client Object Model in SharePoint 2010 to achieve it.

  • Workflow Manager - Add-WFHost fails with "Could not load file" error

Hello! I'm not sure that its Sharepoint related topic but..
I'm trying to install Workflow Manager using Powershell. I'm successfully created ServiceBus farm, create namespace, Add-SBhost etc. Also, i created WF Farm using New-WFFarm.
Now i'm got SB Configuration and try to add my first host to WF Farm using standard cmdlets:
    $SBClientConfiguration = Get-SBClientConfiguration -Namespaces 'WorkflowDefaultNamespace'
(it successfuly gives me some endpoint definitions)
    Add-WFHost -WFFarmDBConnectionString $WFFarmDBConStr -RunAsPassword $ServiceAccountPassword -EnableFirewallRules $true -SBClientConfiguration $SBClientConfiguration -CertificateAutoGenerationKey $CertificateAutoGenerationKey
    where
$WFFarmDBConStr is typical connection string, i also used this to Get-WFFarm with no errors.
$ServiceAccountPassword and $CertificateAutoGenerationKey are secure strings.
But trouble appears with SBClientConfiguration, cmdlet returns error:
"Cannot validate argument on parameter 'SBClientConiguration'. Could not load file or assebly 'Microsoft.ServiceBus, Version=1.8.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=<SomeTokenSymbolsHere> or one of its dependencies. The system cannot
    find the file specified."
What file it tries to load? I've installed all WorkflowManager binaries with
webpicmd /Install /Product:WorkflowManagerRefresh key and don't know, what can be cause.

    Hi lehus,
According to your description, my understanding is that you got an error when you configured Workflow Manager using PowerShell.
Please try to use the following PowerShell command, compare the result:
    Add-WFHost -WFFarmDBConnectionString $WFFarmDBConStr -RunAsPassword $ServiceAccountPassword -EnableFirewallRules $true -SBClientConfiguration $SBClientConfiguration
    –EnableHttpPort -CertificateAutoGenerationKey $CertificateAutoGenerationKey
    -Verbose
    Check your process as:
    http://lennytech.wordpress.com/2013/06/02/configuring-workflow-manager-1-0-using-powershell/
In addition, whether you could install and configure Workflow Manager with Workflow Manager Configuration Wizard. Please have a try as:
    http://prabathf.blogspot.com/2013/02/installing-and-configuring-workflow-for.html
    I hope this helps.

  • OWB Workflow Help

Im conducting a proof of concept using OWB Workflow version 2.4. To give some background, the objective is to run numerous dependant SQL scripts that in effect hand craft the ETL process, at a pre-scheduled time, that provide logging and re-starting functionality.
With the distinct lack of publications and documentations Id appreciate any feedback anyone may have on the following:
    1) Is it possible to restart a process at a step midway through the flow. For example the 3rd SQL Activity step out of 10 may have failed and instead of starting over, its a requirement to re-start the step that failed.
    2) I've read that Oracle are rumoured to be de-supporting the workflow functionality, if so then what is their proposed method of scheduling and controlling ETL jobs.
    3) Can a log file generated by the SQL Plus activity be attached to the failure or success email activity?
Any input would be appreciated, also any pointers to OWB publications or documentation, other than the Oracle manuals of course.
    Thanks in advance
    James

We have been working towards something similar, and the approach we have settled on is as follows:
    1) We have added our own runtime-audit tables which track the most recent process flow run date, final status, and the completion status of each mapping. So, a new run can see if a) this run is a restart, in which case we set our max date for drawing data over to be the run date of the last run, and b) what mappings ran succesfully. This way, a function called needs_to_run(mapping_name varchar2) returns a true/false answer to see if a given mapping needs to be executed on this run. The logic is pretty simple
if run_type is full_run or (run_type is restart and nvl(last_run_status,'FAILURE') of this mapping is 'FAILURE')
    then
    return true;
    else
    return false;
    2) We do not use mapping objects in the process flows. We will only use SQL*Plus objects that do something like this:
    variable exec_return_code;
    declare
    retVal varchar2(30) := 'OK';
    begin
    if needs_to_run('ThisMapping') then
    ThisMapping.main(retVal);
    end if;
    :exec_return_code := retVal;
    exception
    when others then
    :exec_return_code := 'FAILURE';
    end;
    exit :exec_return_code
So that each mapping will check first to see if it needs to execute before running thus skipping over fully completed mappings in the case of a restart. As to emailing log information, we currently do that in our post-mapping procedures in the event of a failure rather than logging to file and then attaching to email. We also have a last step that emails a summary of our audit info for each mapping run - but again this is all done inside pl/sql rather than spooling to file.
Anyway, just some ideas to toss your way. And no, we haven't yet got it all completed and working yet, but it is coming along nicely and none of our individual proof-of-concept tests have provided us with any show-stoppers thus far.
    Cheers,
    Mike

  • OWB / Workflow integration problem

We have a OWB 11g installation running on Windows 2003 64-bit Server.
We have 2 OWB databases, one design repository and one runtime repository.
Workflow is installed and configured on the runtime database.
Oracle Workflow Location is set to the runtime repository, and checks out ok.
OWF_MGR user is also created in the OWB Design Center, although Oracle documentation is very unclear on this; only stating that
    +"6. Create a Workflow Proxy User.+
+When the Workflow instance is remote from the database hosting the Warehouse+
+Builder repository, you need to create a proxy-user.+
+Within the database hosting the repository, use SQL Plus to create a user and grant+
+it the OWB_USER role as a default. This enables the remote OWF instance to+
+connect to the services provided by the Control Center."+
We're able to deploy Process Flows from the design repository to the runtime rep, but when we try to execute them through workflow, the warehouse builder browser reports the following 3 errors:
R+PE-02075: Oracle Workflow failed to process the execution request for Activity LOAD_FP_INDEX:START1. This may be because dependent objects have not yet been deployed.+
ORA-20002: Failed to call "PFFPVSL_WB_RTI_WORKFLOW_UTIL".initialize. Please check that "EXECUTE ANY PROCEDURE" privilege is set and that the OWB Runtime is available. ORA-20009: User OWF_MGR does not have access to the workspace with name:OWBRTREP and owner:OWBRTREP. OWF_MGR must be registered to access the workspace by the administrator or owner of the workspace
    WB_RT_WORKFLOW_UTIL_11G.Execute_Start(PFFPVSL, WB_IK_20090213_135803_19093, 366, RUN) Wf_Engine_Util.Function_Call(WB_RT_WORKFLOW_UTIL_11G.EXECUTE_START, PFFPVSL, WB_IK_20090213_135803_19093, 366, RUN)
We've done the EXECUTE ANY PROCEDURE on the OWF_MGR user. The OWF service_doctor.sql script reports that "There are errors in one or more PL/SQL packages and functions", but fails to say anything else - everything is loaded and seeded correctly.
But what we notice when comparing with our working 10g installation, is that the runtime repository target user (OWBRTREP) is totally empty of tables, views, procedures etc on the new runtime database, whereas it has about 250 tables and lots of other objects on the 10g installation. This user is created through the OWB 11g design center, so why is there such a difference? Has something gone wrong when creating the runtime workspace?
(It was created with the Repository Assistant, which we had some trouble with on the 64-bit server, but after some work it now seems to run ok, exiting with success message after creating workspace user.)
    Regards,
    -Haakon-

    Haakon,
Lets assume you have two databases with OWB Repository A installed on database A and OWB repository B installed on database B.
Repository A - your Design repository
Repository B - your Runtime repository (this is your target schema / database)
I hope you have control centre service running under Repository B and you have installed OWF schema (usually OWF_MGR) under repository B.
I hope in your repository A you have created a new configuration and new control centre to point to repository B and that configuration is active.
Now logon to repository B using repository owner login and add OWF_MGR and other target databases as your target user under SECURITY/USERS.
Create similar users under repository A.
It works for us in OWB 10g but i dont know about 11G might be something related to WORKSPACE concept.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Sam.
