Page break in Smartforms

hello friends,
I'm displaying the following data in the smartforms main window.
line1
line2
line3
line4.
sometimes line 1 displays on page 1 and then the rest of the data in page 2.
I need to print all the 4 lines on the same page without any split.
I know this can be achieved in Script by using Protect endprotect but how to do it in Smartforms?

Hi,
Create a file folder and keep put the line items in it. In the folder you have protect check box . Just check it.

Page break for Smartform with multiple main window on pages

Hi Experts,
I have a requirement for printing 3 pages. The difference among the 3 pages is the main window part.
The main window contains not only internal table, also complicated texts like payment instructions etc.
The requirement is in each page, the data in internal table should be changed, also payment instruction should be changed accordingly.
e.g:
Main Window of Page 1
Part 1 for Internal table
VAT on ITEM ------- 4O-------60,00------0.00%-------EUR
Part 2 for Payment Instructions
Texts for Page 1
Main Window of Page 2
Part 1 for Internal table
VAT on ITEM ------- 5O-------60,00------0.00%-------EUR
Part 2 for Payment Instructions
Texts for Page 2

Part 1 for Internal table
VAT on ITEM ------- 6O-------60,00------0.00%-------EUR

At first, I was using only one page 'Page1' with a variable page_no = 1 as default value, and use program line page_no = page_no + 1 as counter. when page_no = 2, use command for force page break to 'Page1', then under the command, change the internal table and payment instruction texts. when page_no = 3, ...
But I encountered an error saying:
Runtime Errors GEN_BRANCHOFFSET_LIMIT_REACHED
Short text
Jump distance is too large and cannot be generated.
So I created 3 pages, with different main window M_window1, M_window2, M_window3 for each page. In page1, after printing the M_window1, page_no = 2, use command to go to page2, but page2 is never printed. I think this is because only one main window can exist in a smartform? but why smartform allows creating individual main window for different pages? what's the use of such main window?
By the way, what's the use of command for force page break? only work for one main window in a smartform?
Getting back to my requirement, I think I should still use one page and command for page break. I am trying to solve this.

Now I am using 3 pages: Page 1, Page 2, Page 3.
Page 2, Page 3 are copies of Page 1 with main window renamed as second window: mw 2, mw 3.
I also created 2 command nodes in main window of page 1: cmd 2, cmd 3.
cmd 2 is for page break to Page 2, cmd 3 is for page break to Page 3.
The second window mw 2, mw 3 in Page 2, Page 3 can be displayed.
Even though, I still can't understand how main window of pages (not 1st page) can work.

How to determine page break in smartforms...

if my output exceeds more than one page...then i have to print CONTINUED in first page...
how can i do that? pls help me..

i couldnt control the page break...i can display 14 lines in my main window....even if my document contains only 14 items, all the 14 items r displaying in the first window....then it is trigerring page break....displaying nothing on main window of second page, not even table header....
i tried to increase the height of main window......if my doc contians more than 14 items , then 15 items will display on first page..
even then if my doc contains exactly 14 items ...then its displaying 14 items in the first page and trigerring a page break , displaying nothing on second page....
pls help me...

To insert a page-break you have to Create a Node Called COMMAND.
Here you can Specify a Different PAGE as next page if u want.
Smartforms: protect lines in main window.
It was easy with SAPscript, but how to do it with SF's. For 4.7 version if you are using tables, there are two options for protection against line break:
- You can protect a line type against page break.
- You can protect several table lines against page break for output in the main area.
Protection against page break for line types
- Double-click on your table node and choose the Table tab page.
- Switch to the detail view by choosing the Details pushbutton.
- Set the Protection against page break checkbox in the table for the relevant line type. Table lines that use this line type are output on one page.
Protection against page break for several table lines
- Expand the main area of your table node in the navigation tree.
- Insert a file node for the table lines to be protected in the main area.
- If you have already created table lines in the main area, you can put the lines that you want to protect again page break under the file using Drag&Drop. Otherwise, create the table lines as subnodes of the file.
- Choose the Output Options tab page of the file node and set the Page Protection option. All table lines that are in the file with the Page Protection option set are output on one page.
In 4.6, Alternatively in a paragraph format use the Page protection attribute to determine whether or not to display a paragraph completely on one page. Mark it if you want to avoid that a paragraph is split up by a page break. If on the current page (only in the main window) there is not enough space left for the paragraph, the entire paragraph appears on the next page.

How to code subtotal of itemlines for page-break in SmartForms in 4.6C?

There's no functionality in SmartForm 4.6C in order to make a subtotal at a page-break.
Can you please tell me how to code in the SmartForm to catch the page-break and put the subtotal?

A page break to a new page occurs as soon as the processing of a page is finished and
i. The output control of the main window has not yet been completely processed or
ii. A manual page break was executed in the output control of the main window or
iii. The page does not contain a main window

Table in main window with page break in smartforms

I want to print data with heading and items in tabuler form (grid form) using table with PAGE PROTECTION in main window in smartform.
if you would say staight way to use Table or Template under FOLDER with page protection, will not work.
So, it is little bit tricky. So,if any body have a proper solution please help.

Table footer when page break in smartform

I put a table component into a loop control, and in the table footer, there are some texts in several lines and a command component.
the problem is that, when there's not enough space to print the whole table footer texts in one page, the extra part of will be output in the next 2 pages.
for example, I suppose there are 3 pages totally. and for the first page, it's all right about the main window. when there's no enough space, the footer is still output, the rest is printed on the 2nd page. but on the 3rd page, the footer texts in the 2nd page is output again and followed main windows on the 3rd page.
Could anyone help? Thank you in advance.

In smartforms
Right click->create->flow logic->command
In the conditions tab : give the condition for a particular filed so that a page break should trigger .
In general attributes tab : tick the go to new page cehk box and selexct the page from the drop down list .

in that wiki just change the command window condition with a local variable say
w_count = 5
in the program lines window
increase the counter.
w_count = w_count + 1.
if w_count > 5.
w_count = 1.
endif.
this will definitely solve the poroblem

Displaying Page Number in Smartforms

Hi,
I'm doing a page break in smartforms by date. In my output, the page number displays Page 1 of * (instead of Page 1 of 11) but when it displays 2 digits for the field SFSY-PAGE, it displays the total number of pages. (e.g. Page 10 of 11). I used the system fields (Page sfsy-page of sfsy-formpages). I just want to ask if any of you has an idea or have experienced this kind of error. Your help is highly much appreciated. Thanks!

Smartform issue with page break

Hi All,
I have an unusual issue with page break. Here is my scenario, I have a group of items in my table main area and for each group there is sort of header that prints. Similarly there are multiple groups needing a header whenever there is a new group printing. So far it prints fine. But whenever there is a page break and when items from the same group also print on the next page the same header needs to print on the top of next page similar to how the header area repeats on each page. Unfortunately I did not see any page break event for table main area.
Here is an alternative I have tried but having issues: I have created two rows for this group header one printing from header and another printing from main area. Whenever there is a page break the same group header prints as part of the header and on the rest of the page it prints from the main area. But in a particular scenario, there is a new group starting at almost bottom of the page but as there is not enough space left on the same page (page protection) jumps to next page. In this case there are two group headers printed one coming from the preivous page main area and another coming from the next page header. I hope my explanation is clear enough to understand.
Please suggest if there is any basic feature of smartform that I have missed out can solve this issue or if there is another alternative you can think of. I appreciate your responses.

I was able to solve this issue on my own.
Instead of checking for a page break on header line I am using a flag that is prepopulated in the table. I set this flag whenver a new group of items starts. If the flag is set I print it from the main area and if it is not set I print it from the header. This helped in avoiding the multiple header lines..

Smartforms: no page break between last line item and footer in table?

Hello All,
my smartform has FIRST and NEXT pages. I would like to avoid a page break between last item line of a table in MAIN window and the footer of the same table.
Here is how it looks currently.
Output of FIRST page, MAIN window, table ITEMS:
1.line item
2.line item
3.line item
4.line item
page break
output of NEXT page, MAIN window, table ITEMS:
1.footer line
2.footer line
I would like that if a footer does not fit on FIRST page, it would be displayed on NEXT page with last item line.
It should be like this:
output of FIRST page, MAIN window, table ITEMS
1.line item
2.line item
3.line item
page break
output of NEXT page, MAIN window, table ITEMS
4.line item
1.footer line
2.footer line
Any ideas?

Do you mean line item text or your want to print footer text?
If your trying yo display some footer text, then you either place a footer window or you can create a table inside your main window and place text under the footer of the table, then it will display the text without any page break.
If it is item tem.
Then you need to build additional logic. As we cannot guess, the total number of item text upfront.
Example: if page1 can hold 15 line items, check whether your header and item can fit in page one else call a new page by placing a condition FLAG = "X".

Smartforms: Page break in main window

I am working on a smartform that has a loop in the Main window which finally shows a table with serveral rows. I would like to have a page break if one group of lines doesn't fit on the page anymore.
I did some research on that and found the following solution:
Protection against page break for several table lines
- Expand the main area of your table node in the navigation tree.
- Insert a file node for the table lines to be protected in the main area.
- If you have already created table lines in the main area, you can put the lines that you want to protect again page break under the file using Drag&Drop. Otherwise, create the table lines as subnodes of the file.
- Choose the Output Options tab page of the file node and set the Page Protection option. All table lines that are in the file with the Page Protection option set are output on one page.
I did all this and activated the form. But when I go the generic output issue to see the form, following error message comes up:
Output could not be displayed (it may not be complete)
Any ideas why this is happening? (If I delete the folder with the "page protection" mark, then it is working fine again..)

Hey Anne,
If you are getting the error as soon as you check the box for page protection, it indicates that its not placed at correct position.
I think you placed the folder at a wrong node. I placed the folder under the main area of the table and placed the row types under the folder. Then i checked the folder for page protection.
Its working for me. I am working in ECC 6.0. I dont know if we have that provision in 4.6 C.
Create the folder under the main area of the table node.
put the row types under the folder and check the box for page protection.
