Page Design is invisible when i using  ADF

hai guys
I am in a begining level jdeveloper.
When i am using ADF in my jdeveloper , my JSPX Screen Design disappears, although when i run my application its working(no Problem). But I am not able to view or edit in my DESIGN view. If u have any idea pls help
Thanks

I had this issue once.. it was a while back now. It only used to occur when created a new Application.
From memory, I removed my Jdev Home and created a new one scratch.
Before you do this, make a copy of the home, or just move it somewhere else rather than deleting it.

  • Validation messages in JSF (when not using ADF faces)

    I've spent some time with JDeveloper 11 and would like to use it on an upcoming project. I have to target IE 6, so I won't be able to take advantage of ADF Faces. Instead I'd like to use the ADF Business Components with a standard JSF interface so it can be used by people still running IE 6.
    I've created a Business Component from a database table and can bind a JSF HTML Creation Form by dragging the appropriate view from the AppModule in the Data Controls pane. However, when I attempt to submit the page without all the fields being valid I get the following validation error message:
    j_id__ctru2:j_id__ctru6: Validation Error: Value is required. j_id__ctru2:j_id__ctru6: Validation Error: Value is required.
    I've tried making this more descriptive, but editing the error message in the Validation Rules section of the Business Component has no effect. What's the best way to convey a meaningful validation message to the user when not using ADF Faces?
    Also - I'm still very new to JDeveloper. Since I won't be able to rely on my users having Internet Explorer 7, would you recommend I stay with JDeveloper 10? The examples and documentation I've seen so far for JDeveloper 11 appear heavily biased towards using ADF Faces so I'm starting to wonder how much support is there for using plain old JSF.
    Thanks for your time!

    Hi,
    if you are completely new to this then I suggest to use JDeveloper 10.1.3 and ADF Faces in there. Its good to use with IE6 as well. Currently we do have more tutorials available for this release than for 11, which for this reason is a better choice for someone new to this

  • Design question about when to use inner classes for models

    This is a general design question about when to use inner classes or separate classes when dealing with table models and such. Typically I'd want to have everything related to a table within one classes, but looking at some tutorials that teach how to add a button to a table I'm finding that you have to implement quite a sophisticated tablemodel which, if nothing else, is somewhat unweildy to put as an inner class.
    The tutorial I'm following in particular is this one:
    http://www.devx.com/getHelpOn/10MinuteSolution/20425
    I was just wondering if somebody can give me their personal opinion as to when they would place that abstracttablemodel into a separate class and when they would just have it as an inner class. I guess re-usability is one consideration, but just wanted to get some good design suggestions.

    It's funny that you mention that because I was comparing how the example I linked to above creates a usable button in the table and how you implemented it in another thread where you used a ButtonColumn object. I was trying to compare both implementations, but being a newbie at this, they seemed entirely different from each other. The way I understand it with the example above is that it creates a TableRenderer which should be able to render any component object, then it sets the defaultRenderer to the default and JButton.Class' renderer to that custom renderer. I don't totally understand your design in the thread
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?forumID=57&threadID=680674
    quite yet, but it's implemented in quite a bit different way. Like I was saying the buttonClass that you created seem to be creating an object of which function I don't quite see. It looks more like a method, but I'm still trying to see how you did it, since it obviously worked.
    Man adding a button to a table is much more difficult than I imagined.

  • Java script in jsff page is not working when deployed as adf lib jar

    hi,
    We have a ViewController Project with a several jsff pages that has javascript references to a .js fiile in the same project.
    When run in the same app, the javascript functions are invoked correctly.
    but, when deployed as an ADF-library and consumed in a diff application, not several components' javascript is invoked.
    Input Text Components javascript is almost always invoked. But, javascript on radio buttons or table are not invoked.

  • The new version of Pages in Mavericks crashes when I use spell checker.

    The new Pages in Mavericks crashes each time I use spell checker.  I have to Force Quit each time I use spell.  I've been using Pages for many years with no problems.  This is a first.  I don't know if it relates to Mail's spell checker problem I've also been having since upgrading to Mavericks.  In Mail, some words that I commonly misspell (like hte for the) are no longer corrected when I send mail.  Anyone else have this problem?  Any workarounds or clues as to how to fix the issue?

    Many features have been removed from Pages 5 see:
    iWorkTipsnTricks Forum
    Meanwhile it probably is best to continue using Pages '09 if that is possible and if you are unhappy with Pages 5 give it a review and rating in the App Store.

  • How do I adjust the printing preferences? all my pages print in miniature when I use Firefox and try to print from a webpage.

    I cannot print from any webpage, including my hotmail account, without the page printing at about 20% of the normal size. If I use Explorer, I have no problems with printing.

    Well, I tried your suggestion, and it did increase the font size, but it will only print within the top half and about the middle 1/3 of the page. So, to print something that should fit on one page, it would take 3 to 5 pages....I tried looking at the margins and they were all set to 0. changing them to 1 inch didn't help...any other suggestions?

  • When to use ADF Caching and/or Coherence?

    Looking for a high level answer to this question... basically what is best practice?
    Given that I've found virtually nothing that mentions these two items in the same breath, I'm wondering if the question is even applicable!
    If there is overlap, at what point do you "move" to Coherence.
    Presumably the two are not mutually exclusive either?
    Any experience of this? Problems or wins perhaps?
    Thx
    .Stuart

    Hi Henry,
    Whether you want the file to be on the presentation server or on the application server is a choice that you have to make.
    If your SAP system is linked to some other system and that system sends data to the SAP system in a file format, then it would be FTPed to the application Server of your SAP system.
    This is one common scenario.
    If you put the file on the presentation server, then the program which accesses the file cannot be run without a user sitting in front of the screen, logged on to the SAP system. this means that a file on the presentation server cannot be processed in background.
    Application server is also preferred in case the data in the file is huge. If such a file is loaded from the presenation server, then it may take a long time to get uploaded and then it has to be processed. This may lead to time-outs in many cases. If the file is on the application server, then since you can process it in background, you will never have the problem of the progrma timing out.
    Also, having a file on the presentation server leads to the assumption (and not a totally untrue one at that) that the data in the file is actually user-specific. At least it is (certainly) determined by the user.
    Hope the point is clear. If not, get back.
    Regards,
    Anand Mandalika.

    </f:view>
    => at the begin of the page an empty table is rendered; below the data table is rendered and below the inputText
    It think it should be possible to layout the page with HTML template text and use ADF Faces tags.

    As of EA12 (and EA13) <afh:body> is what is known as a "rendersChildren" tag. It needs to do so in order to support partial-page rendering This means that template text inside it needs to be wrapped inside <f:verbatim>.
    For later releases of ADF Faces, I've filed an enhancement request to loosen up this restriction for <afh:body>.

  • For everyone facing unexpected the JBO-25014 error using (ADF) BC

    Hi,
    I think I might have a hint for everyone facing JBO-25014 (Another user has changed the row with primary key oracle.jbo.Key) errors during updates.
    I noticed that during updates, we got unexpected behavior: we have a table with an update row trigger defined on it, where we set values for some columns. During updates via ADF BC (we work with JDev 10.1.3 SU3 and JHeadstart 10.1.3 build 78 against Oracle 8.1.7.4, 9.2.0.7 and 10.2.0.1) we noticed that the value of one of the fields updated via triggers was emptied, although the update could in no way hit the logic for this field. So I reproduced the behavior in the Application Module Tester and also reproduced it in SQL*Plus using a PL/SQL procedure: the problem occurs because of Oracle's RETURNING statement, which is used in ADF BC for fields that need refresh after insert of update. We seem to hit bug 4515623: "Update...RETURNING with a trigger can produce corrupt column data".
    This should be solved in RDBMS 9.2.0.8 (not there yet) and 10.2.0.2 (already released). I still have to test whether 10.2.0.2 does solve our problem, but I thought I would let you know in advance. Maybe someone can test before I can (I have to set up a 10G DB first, since I work with 9.2.0.7),
    Toine van Beckhoven

    Here is additional info on this behavior. I was able to install a 10G DB (10.2.0.1) where I could reproduce the problem. After that I installed patch 10.2.0.2 and tried out it the bug was solved. However: the bug is solved, but not correctly, a new bug is introduced which is still a major problem when you use ADF BC on top of tables with Before Update triggers (but as you can see below, with update triggers containing conditional logic!). So this is really a database problem, but with impact on applications using the refresh after update property in ADF BC! The new bug is known as bug 5115882.
    Here is the script I used to pinpoint the problem (I highlighted the things that really show the problem):
    DROP TABLE test_ts;
    CREATE TABLE test_ts (test_ts_id INTEGER PRIMARY KEY,
    status SMALLINT NOT NULL, someotherfield VARCHAR2(1), edittime DATE);
    CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER test_ts_time

    -- always update edittime
    :NEW.edittime := SYSDATE;
    -- only update someotherfield conditionally (when status=1)
    IF :NEW.status = 1
    THEN
    :NEW.someotherfield := 'Y';
    END IF;

    I am affraid we need to look at workarounds, because we rely heavily on before update triggers in the DB with conditional logic. I do not really want to change my triggers (for example removing conditional logic...). And it seems that waiting for the Oracle RDBMS to really solve this problem is not viable either (I saw notes that it will be solved in 11G, not in 10 or 9!).
    Anyone from the ADF development team that recognizes this problem and is able to verify that this really is a RDBMS problem? The testcases above run on every DB version as a regular user (for example SCOTT) with some create privileges),

    Dear Experts,

    I have build 2 simple page templates, let say template0 & template1 which template1 using template0.

    Is there any wrong?

    When I used it at the first time, no any strange behavior occur.
    After ... (I don't exactly when), it give me the same view in my designer.

    Hi...
    Thanks for asking....
    As I put in my post before, I include template0 in my template1, as seen in template1 (AHM001):
    <af:pageTemplateDef var="attrs">
    *<af:pageTemplate viewId="/template/AHM000.jspx">*
    I use AHM000 inside AHM001. I use this approach to build many template based on one basic design.
    Actually, I don't think the problem is in page template usage because as I submitted paralel to Metalink, I've already not called template0 in template1 but I copy template0's contents to template1.
    Unfortunately, page designer show small view and below error messages still occured.
    *Jun 7, 2009 10:25:20 PM ComponentMetadataHandler _error*

    org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: <Line 115, Column 51>: XML-20100: (Fatal Error) Expected 'EOF'.
    Fortunately my application can be run already altough the error message still logged.
    Many thanks,

  • Problem in ADF Tree When I use 2 Tree in a Page with same View Object !

    Hi everybody,
    I use JDeveloper 11.1.1.5 and ADF Faces in UI . I have 2 tree in a page that they are from same Updatable View Object but diffrent instances in application module . When I change an attribute value from one of them in manage Bean programmatically , both of them change??!! in my case I put a checkbox in nodeStamp, when user click on checkbox, title of row must change but title in both of them change?????
    I think it is a bug.
    please help me. Thanks

    >
    so what is diffrent to use same view object instances in page or multiple instances when we need ??
    >
    Actually, this depends on your use case. suppose you have a view object with a bind variable, and you want to display to tables on the same page but with different query result depending on the bind variable, in this case you have to create two view instances.

  • How to access Parent page UIComponent from inlineFrame using ADF javascript

    Hi,
    My application includes an <af:inlineFrame component on the top portion of the page. It contains a table with delete option for the end user. Requirement is after user has deleted all the records of the table and table has no records to display, inlineFrame needs to be made invisible so that the bottom portion content of my page will get stretched fully and has more visibility to the user. Hence when user click on Delete button of the table, after delete operation, I am planning to check the row count and write javascript to client using ExtendedRenderKitService to make the inlineframe invisible.
    Question:
    1. What is the right ADF javascript API to access the parent page and work with its components. I came to know we can call using 'parent.document.getElementById' but I want to know correct ADF's javascript API.
    Thanks in Advance
    Raghu

    The way you suggested didn't help me.
    Yes.. This inlineFrame content is also a part of the same application only. The reason why it is kept in inlineFrame is it is an ADS implemented table. ADS is able to push the data to the table provided we should keep the application idle. If I keep on working with the application (i.e. request/response happens because user works with the bottom portion content of the page), ADS is not able to push the data to UI. Keeping the ADS implemented table in a top portion still but inside an inlineFrame has solved this problem.
    Given below my page design
       main.jspx
       ======
       <af:form id="f1"....
           <af:inlineframe source="faces/page/employee.jspx" />
       </form>
       employee.jspx
       =========
       <af:form id="f2"
        </form>
                 In the employee.jspx only I have delete button and javascript which is suppose to find the parent page (i.e. main.jspx) and to work with inlineframe component to make it visible/invisible based on whether table gets records or no records. (This javascript call will happen with the help of ClientListener set for the ADS implemented table with event type as propertyChange) Intention is to check the row count of the table during every javascript call and to go to parent page, find the inlineframe, make it visible or invisible.

  • Question on "Master Detail page using ADF" sample

    I downloaded the "Master Detail page using ADF" sample application. I modified editDepartment.jsp page to include the Commit button as follows:
    <html:submit property="event_Commit">Save and Commit</html:submit>
    When I go to edit a department record and click on the new "Save and Commit" button, I SQLed the DEPARTMENTS table and noticed that the edits were not commited. I also restarted the embedded OC4J server and still get the same results. For some reason, the department view object contains the modification but the entity object doesn't. Why?

    Scott,
    My colleague suggested a workaround, which is to explicitly include the detail table's id in the master table's partialTargets list. So, for example, in MasterDetailDP.uix, changing:
    <table model="${bindings.DepartmentsView1}"
           id="DepartmentsView111"
           partialRenderMode="multiple"
           partialTargets="_uixState">to:
    <table model="${bindings.DepartmentsView1}"
           id="DepartmentsView111"
           partialRenderMode="multiple"
           partialTargets="_uixState EmployeesView312">...will cause the detail table to be updated when sorting the master table.
    There is some question about whether sorting a table should actually cause the currently selected row to change - we're still discussing this point.
