Paging a data table with input text fields
I've created a datatable with input text fields so that contents can be edited. I have 'save' and 'cancel' buttons on the page so that changes can be saved or abandoned. That seems to work fine.
However, I have a problem with paging. If I modify an input text field, page to the next page in the datatable and then page back, the modified input text field reverts to the original entry in the database. Does anyone know how I can preserve this change (without issuing a commit) until the user clicks on the save button?
Here is a snippet of jsp with datatable.
<h:dataTable binding="#{DocTypeDetail.doctypeMetadataTable}" headerClass="list-header" id="doctypeMetadataTable"
rowClasses="list-row-even,list-row-odd" rows="5" style="left: 240px; top: 312px; position: absolute"
value="#{DocTypeDetail.doctypeMetadataTableModel}" var="currentRow">
<h:column binding="#{DocTypeDetail.column2}" id="column2">
<h:inputText binding="#{DocTypeDetail.textField1}" id="textField1" value="#{currentRow['name']}"/>
<f:facet name="header">
<h:outputText binding="#{DocTypeDetail.outputText5}" id="outputText5" value="Name"/>
</f:facet>
</h:column>
<h:column binding="#{DocTypeDetail.column3}" id="column3">
<h:inputText binding="#{DocTypeDetail.textField2}" id="textField2" value="#{currentRow['value']}"/>
<f:facet name="header">
<h:outputText binding="#{DocTypeDetail.outputText8}" id="outputText8" value="Value"/>
</f:facet>
</h:column>
<f:facet name="header"/>
<f:facet name="header"/>
<f:facet name="header"/>
<f:facet name="header"/>
<f:facet name="header"/>
<f:facet name="header"/>
<f:facet name="header"/>
<f:facet name="header"/>
<f:facet name="header"/>
<f:facet name="header">
<h:panelGroup binding="#{DocTypeDetail.groupPanel1}" id="groupPanel1" style="display: block; text-align: center" styleClass="list-paging-header">
<h:commandButton action="#{DocTypeDetail.doctypeMetadataTable_firstPageAction}"
binding="#{DocTypeDetail.doctypeMetadataTableHeaderFirstButton}" id="doctypeMetadataTableHeaderFirstButton"
image="resources/paging_first.gif" immediate="true"/>
<h:commandButton action="#{DocTypeDetail.doctypeMetadataTable_previousPageAction}"
binding="#{DocTypeDetail.doctypeMetadataTableHeaderPreviousButton}" id="doctypeMetadataTableHeaderPreviousButton"
image="resources/paging_previous.gif" immediate="true"/>
<h:commandButton action="#{DocTypeDetail.doctypeMetadataTable_nextPageAction}"
binding="#{DocTypeDetail.doctypeMetadataTableHeaderNextButton}" id="doctypeMetadataTableHeaderNextButton"
image="resources/paging_next.gif" immediate="true"/>
<h:commandButton action="#{DocTypeDetail.doctypeMetadataTable_lastPageAction}"
binding="#{DocTypeDetail.doctypeMetadataTableHeaderLastButton}" id="doctypeMetadataTableHeaderLastButton"
image="resources/paging_last.gif" immediate="true"/>
</h:panelGroup>
</f:facet>
</h:dataTable>
I know by now you must have figured it out. If not you might want to try keeping the backing bean in session instead of request scope.
Hope that helps,

How Can i send the data entered in Input text fields to e-mail?
Iam Jennifer, Iam having a doubt in Flash, I hope that you
are going to solve my problem, Iam taking 3 Static text fields as
Name, Age and Country and besides each and every static text fields
i have taken 3 input text fields with different instance names,
when i enter my Name, Age and Country details in the input text
fields and after entering those details if user clicks the submit
button the data should be send to some mail address, is it possible
Im not so good at action script, but i hope that any one can
help me...
Iam attaching the action script code also, please find the
attachment below, the actions are given to button.
Attach Code
Btn.onPress = function ()
mail_lv = new LoadVars();
mail_lv.dummy1 = "";
mail_lv.subject = "Details";
mail_lv.message = "hi";
mail_lv.username = "name_txt".text;
mail_lv.age = "age_txt".text;
mail_lv.country = "country_txt".text;
mail_lv.onLoad = function ()
trace("Sent successfully...");
trace("mail_lv.subject = " + mail_lv.subject);
trace("mail_lv.message = " + mail_lv.message);
mail_lv.send("mailto:[email protected]", "_blank");The names of your variables, "name_txt", for instance, should
NOT have quotes around them. Use:
mail_lv.username = name_txt.text;
mail_lv.age = age_txt.text;

Emailing data found in input text fields
Hi,
I have a simple form that users fill in various "input" text
fields like "Name", "Email", etc... now all I want is when the
click on the "send" button, it should automatically send an e-mail
to "info@...".
I got it to enter the proper recipient email address and
subject but there's not content. What am I missing?
Thanks,
PhalconheartThanks for the prompt reply.
Just to clarify (programming is not my primary function...
far from it)
Yes, just opening the clients e-mail program and populating
it with all the variable info he's selected is fine.
so, in your code:
url ="mailto:[email protected]?subject=Message
Subject&body=First line of message.%0ASecond line." + "%0A" +
"Third line.";
1) what does the "%0A" do exactly?
2) do I simply replace where you wrote "First Line of
message" with the code "variables.item = itemChoice.text;"? and so
on and so forth?
Thanks,

I am trying to use the binding tag for a inputText field... The value of the text Field is a hashmap, in which the key is equal to the binding variable i have used
<h:inputText id="ug" binding="#{userBean.ugclassCode}" rendered="true" value="#{userBean.finalUghm}" styleClass="numericalignRight" />
This is the first time i m trying binding to an inputText so please let me know if this method is correct... and please let me know if there is any other method to accomplish the same.
Thanks in advanceMaybe you misunderstand the binding attribute ..
Two ways to get it work:
Way 1:
JSF 1<h:form id="form">
<h:inputText binding="#{MyBean.inputText}" />
</h:form>MyBean 1 private HtmlInputText inputText = new HtmlInputText();
private Map inputValues = new HashMap();
public HtmlInputText getInputText() {
inputValues.put("key1", "testvalue1"); // test
inputText.setValue(inputValues.get("key1"));
return inputText;
public void setInputText(HtmlInputText inputText) {
this.inputText = inputText;
}Way 2:
JSF 2<h:form id="form">
<h:inputText value="#{MyBean.inputValue}" />
</h:form>MyBean 2 private Map inputValues = new HashMap();
private String inputValue;
public String getInputValue() {
inputValues.put("key2", "testvalue2"); // test
inputValue = (String) inputValues.get("key2");
return inputValue;
public void setInputValue(String inputValue) {
this.inputValue = inputValue;

Generate input text fields dynamically on clicking a image with adf??
Is it possible to generate input text fields dynamically on clicking a image with adf??
The functionality to add and remove text field from UI with ADF??Yes, you can dynamically add components to a page.
[url http://www.nearinfinity.com/blogs/michael_bevels/dynamic_forms_using_jsf.html]Here is an example - it demonstrates with ICE Faces components, but the concept is the same for any type of component, including ADF

How can i validate current row input text field like required.
Hi All,
jdev 11.1.2.1.0
in my use case i have drag drop one viewobject as a adf table. and in table i have also add one extra input text field which is not based on
vo.
now i want to validate current row input text field not null when i commit row.
but when i using required property true. it worked for all row in table. problem is that i want only current row input text field validate not all
thanks,
ManishWhen the user tries commit the data by clicking on the button -- For that button, have the logic in the actionlistener method to check if the additional input field is NULL or NOT.
If it is NULL, show an error message using FacesContext.addMessage() API.
Thanks,

Hi,
I have a table with many LONG fields (28). So far, everythings works fine.
However, if I add another LONG field I cannot insert a dataset anymore
(29 LONG fields).
Does there exist a MaxDB parameter or anything else I can change to make inserts possible again?
Thanks in advance
Michael

It solves my problem. Thanks a lot. -- I hardly can believe that this is all needed to solve the bug. This may be the reason why I have not given it a try.

Since explicitely specifying all values for an insert is a good idea anyhow (you can see directly, what value the new tupel will have), you may want to change your code to this.

You are right. This table looks a bit strange. The story behind it is: Each crystal report in the application has a few textblocks which are the same for all the e.g. persons the e.g. letter is created for. Principally, the textblocks could be directy added to the crystal report. However, as it is often the case, these textblocks may change once in a while. Thus, I put the texts of the textblock into this "strange" db table (one row for each report, one field for each textblock, the name of the report is given by "ztb_nameofreport"). And the application offers a menue by which these textblocks can be changed. Of course, the fields in the table could be of type CHAR, but LONG has the advantage that I do not have to think about the length of the field, since sometime the texts are short and sometimes they are really long.
(These texts would blow up the sql select command of the crystal report very much if they were integrated into the this select command. Thus it is realized in another way: the texts are read before the crystal report is loaded, then the texts are "given" to the crystal report (by its parameters), and finally the crystal report is loaded.)

The customer still has Win98 clients. MaxDB odbc driver 7.5.00.26 does not work for them. I got the hint to use odbc driver 7.3 (see [lists.mysql.com/maxdb/25667|lists.mysql.com/maxdb/25667]). Do MaxDB 7.6 and odbc driver 7.3 work together?
All Win98 clients may be replaced by WinXP clients in the near future. Then, an upgrade may be reasonable.

In the first MaxDB version I used, schemas were not available. I haven't changed it afterwards. Is there an easy way to "move an existing table into a new schema"?

Problem with long text field.
Hi all,
I have a problem when I try to concatenate two fields.
It seems the new field only is 254 characters long?
Here is my syntax:
data: w_long_text(1000).
clear w_long_text.
loop at iline.
concatenate w_long_text iline-tdline into w_long_text separated by space.
endloop.
I'm sure the text is longer then 254 becuase I can see the text in an Activity in the Sap Crm system.
Best Regards
FrodeHi thomas
wat i would suggest you is better take an internal table with long_text(255) field .
data : begin of it_text occurs 0,
long_text(255),
end of it_text.
clear : w_long_text,it_text.
loop at iline.
concatenate w_long_text iline-tdline into w_long_text separated by space.
<b>it_text-long_text = iline-tdline.</b>
append it_text.
clear it_text.
endloop.
and when displaying the text keep that in a loop and print it.
This way u can display the whole text irrespective of the char length.
Reward points if helpful

Strange behavior with hidden text field for drill down
Hi All,
I am pretty sure I know the cause, just not sure how to work around...
I am trying to create a drill down report just like in the App Dev guide, and I have done everything the same as the example (2 times, once to follow the guide, and now on my app). The only difference is that I am using a text field rather than a numeric field as the link. This shouldn't be a problem (I wouldn't think) except that the text I NEED to use has '<==' in the middle. So when I check my session state var's, this is what I see:
CHPAG0SC_MAILCDN_000000047_ CHPAG0SC_MAILCDN_000000047_ <==20060525101642
When what I should see is:
CHPAG0SC_MAILCDN_000000047_ <==20060525101642
So I think that I am gettting duplication because of the characters, but again I don't know how to solve it.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
CoreyHi Scott,
I am trying to create a drill down report similar to the one in the app developers guide. I have a query on pg 1 that includes the required text field as the link. When I click the link, I get an error on pg 2 - which is trying to use the value from pg 1. I did check and saw that even though I set this value in session state (I thought that was what happened when I assigned the 'name' and 'value' in the column link), it is passed in the url, which is where I figured it was breaking. As stated, I need to use this text value as it is the only unique key for the data (currently - this is a data validation step (not an ApEx validation), where users are handling issues with data uploaded from a csv).
My current process is as follows:
1. User uploads 2 csv's
2. Proc moves (from wwv_flow_files) and parses csv back into records and inserts into temp (all varchar2) table(s).
3. User is displayed 3 'reports' - for each type of validation required - from the stage/temp table
4. User would click on the 'Edit' link (like the drill down sample) to see more details about the record.
5. Once the user is done with these reports, they would click another button to 'process' the data (move it into base tables)
Because the text field is always unique, I figured I wouldn't create a sequence for this like I have for the 'base' (destination) tables.
I didn't know that I was using a 'get' rather than a 'post', but of course it is a link, not a button - so I should ahve known better.
Is there a way to do this without adding a sequence generated id for each, or is that just the quickest way?
Thanks again,
Corey -
Is there a way to print the check register with the Text field
Hi,
Is there a way to print the check register with the Text field and also each item's Text field?"
When we enter a invoice we enter a generic text on the Basic Data tab then enter a "+" on each individual line item which in turns defaults to the generic text. Just wanted to know if the check register could draw in the individual line item detail where we can enter text that relates to just that line item. Sort of like the MIR7 draws in the detail for each item.
Kindly help me in full fill the above requirement.
Thanks
SunithaHi,
Can any one help me on this issue?

R4 EA: Error loading a table with an XMLTYPE field
When I try to view the data in a table with an XMLTYPE field I get the following error in R4 EA Version 4.0.0.12 Build MAIN-12-27. This works in 2.2 and 3.0.

The table has the following definition:

Still no response?
I am having same issue when querying a table with XMLTYPE.
How is your XMLTYPE stored in the DB, as a CLOB or as a BINARY XML?

How to allow input text field to accept more than one "specific" answer.
Hi,
I am working for something and trying to create a type-box-based quiz for one of my classes, where an input text field can change it's border color if 2 or more words from an accepted word list is inputed.
For example, Say a list has possible answers: R,G, B, Y for the question "Name 2 colors".
I want to create an input text box where the border of the box will change color if any 2 letters (in the above list) are entered into it.
I've tried setting up a variable NumberSuccesses and setting it so that the number increases by 1 for each letter entered e.g.
if (Ex.text == "R");
NumSuc = NumSuc +1; // the var NumSuc has already been defined earlier in the code
If (Ex.text ''G")
NumSuc = NumSuc + 1
if (NumSuc == 2)
Ex.borderColor = 0x0000FF
but that didn't work.. and I tried doing it with another function which I use for multiple input boxes like if there were boxes A, B, C. I could set up a general function where if the correct answers were entered into A, B, an C respectively, only then will say, a checkmark show up using a
EnableCheckmark (); type function. Not sure how to do it if it's the same text input box though. Also just tried adding it into the same function re.
If (Ex.text == "R" + "G")
Ex.borderColor = 0x0000FF
.. Does anyone know what else I can do?The solution of Nishu with Evaluation Logic:
//These Are the Possible Answers
var solutions:Array = new Array("A","B","C","D");
function testInput(_inputText:String):Boolean
//the delimiter could also be a comma, here it is a space

How to add comma and dollar sign that places automatically in input text field
I have this ROI calculator which has several text input field
on frame one with calculate and reset buttons. When a user enters
numerical values in the text field, and jumping to the next field,
I want the input text filed be updated with dollar sign and with
comma.
Next when they hit "ENTER" key or click "Calculate ROI"
button, all the input text fields on frame 2 as a result of
calculations be updated with dollar sign and comma. I also need
that once the comma sign is assigned then it would not add any more
even if user presses the button. Can someone help me in
this?If you want to Set the Comma when you Switch to next Text
Field
Use onKillFocus / onSetFocus Functions.
to restrict multiple comma, Before Adding comma use
myText.text =
myText.text.split(",").join("").split("$").join("");
So this will give you the value without Comma and Dollar
symbol, Now add the Comma and dollar.
or you need to use a Flag for onChange Event.
