Parallel processing--share your suggestions

Hi Experts,
I have a program which is taking long time (min 10days)to run because of 4 millian data.Thing is i am planning to use parallel processing, i have gone through help documents.They have used one Syntax
"CALL FUNCTION func ...STARTING NEW TASK task name "
ans some additions.
What this function module name?.Do i need to create a
"RFC function module" and call my report from this function module.My problem is how to use my progarm and this SYNTAX.
Can any will explain and give some suggestion on it.
Note : I fine tunned this program Max.extend

Hello Murali,
There are many considerations for starting the job in parallel.
1. u should be able to logically break the job for parallel process to handle.
2. When the jobs starts in parallel mode there is no sequence in which they will complete and so should be independant of each other.
3. The FM which is called in CALL FUNCTION func ...STARTING NEW TASK task name should be RFC enabled.
4. In order to process the jobs in parallel ur system should have atleast 3 dialog work process and should have one dialog process free when u start parallel processing.
I am assuming u don't have the FM which is why u are asking what is the fucntion module name. I would suggest u need to modify ur code in such a way that u are able to create a FM which is going to be called in the CALL FUNCTION func ...STARTING NEW TASK task name.

Hi,
I have a internal table that has object references in it. Each item in the table are indepenent of the other. I want to extract info from each object and convert it into a internal table so that i can pass it to an RFC function.
So how can i do this extraction of the info from the objects in internal table in parallel.
To use the STARTING NEW TASK, i created a fn module that is RFC enabled.... then i can't pass the object reference to this module. So how can do this?
Also i read that this function module call will create a main or external session which has a limit of 6 per user session.Is this correct?
If above can be done, I also wanted to restrict the no of parallel processes being executed at any point of time to be 5 or so.

Hi Murugesh,
Parallel processing can be implemented in the application reports that are to run in the background. You can implement parallel processing in your own background applications by using the function modules and ABAP keywords.

Parallel Processing at the time of confirmation

Hi Gurus,
During confirmation of production orders / collective orders (T.Code u2013 CO11 / CO12 / COHV) or through REM Backflush done in Repetitive Manufacturing (T.Code - MFBF), material components get locked, for processing when multiple users are transacting either confirmation of above orders or MM-IM transactions in parallel.
Eg. Goods Receipt for components in stores cannot be made during confirmation by planning production scheduler and vice versa.
As a result, transaction of Goods Receipt making cannot be executed getting error message u201CUser lockedu201D.
Please suggest us how parallel processing can be carried out on same materials simultaneously like working on CO11, CO12, CO1P and MIGO for the same material. System should allow processing parallel with minimum execution time.
Any SAP notes available for this?
Any one faced such issue and resolved this, please share.

Hi Srini,
Normally this should not be a big problem, since it takes just a short time to process automatic goods movements related to production order confirmation (backflush GI, and GR).
But if in your reality it is, then SAP offers a decoupling concept, which results in posponing those movements, and perform them en-mass at a more convenient time when it less disturbs (like after normal office hours). Look in the link for full details:

How to achieve parallel processing in a single request?

Hi all,
I have a method in a Session EJB that will perform some business logic before it returns an answer to the client. The logic it will perform is to collect data from the applications database and two external systems, before sending all data to a third external system to get a response and send it back to the client. Each external system is quite slow so I would like to do all the collecting of data concurrent, parallel processing. How should I handle this? I'm not allowed to create my own threads in EJB's. Can I use MDB in some way? To the calling client this should be a synchronous call...

Usually, the request is received by a component located in the web container, such as by an HTTP request (including Web Services). This component is able to start threads to allow parallel processing. Now, if for some reason the request arrives directly at EJB level and that you cannot move its receiver to web component, I think JMS is not a viable solution because you will switch to asynchronous processing and you have no way to make your EJB wait for the responses while preserving the client request (waiting implies programmatic life cycle management, which is forbidden in EJB container). Maybe a resource adapter (JCA) can bring a solution. A resource adapter acts as a datasource (a datasource is a specialization of a resource adapter) and thus it is a logical way to implement an adapter to an external, eventually non-J2EE, resource, as the name implies :) But I don't have enough knowledge in JCA to be sure of this.

Using BAPI_PO_CREATE1 in parallel processing

Hi experts,
I am using BAPI_PO_CRATE1 in parallel processing to create multiple Purchase Orders. The Programs is creating only one PO (the Ist one) however it should create multiple PO as per the program and data.
For rest of the data it is returning error message saying "No instance of object type PurchaseOrder has been created".
Please suggest how can I fix this issue.

Unable to clone File Adapter receiver channel for parallel processing

Hi Experts,
I am using variable substitution for File - RFC - File with out BPM scenario(using request response, oneway bean).
While i placed the file in the sender FTP folder, the file didnt get picked up, but in communication channel monitoring, i am getting error ' Unable to clone File Adapter receiver channel for parallel processing'.
Can anybody provide me suggestions to solve this error.
Note : without variable substitution , the interface is working good.
Is it due to, i am trying the source structure field in response file adapter?

Maybe there is conflict with a parallel connexion and the bean used to do asynch-synch bridge...

In one of the process chain, we have added the ABAP program. In Backend,the job is running as "BI_PROCESS_ABAP".
I just want to know, same like DTP, can we keep parallel processing for the ABAP programs also. Please suggest.

Also check with BASIS if the memory allocated to run this program has not overflowed and the selections you have in your ABAP program is in small chunks and use variants to run them in parallel OR series

ABAP OO and parallel processing

Hello ABAP community,
I am trying to implement a ABAP OO scenario where i have to take into account parallel processing and processing logic in the sense of update function modules (TYPE V1).
The szenario is definied as follows:
Frame class X creates a instance of class Y and a instance of class Z.
Classes Y and Z sould be processed in parallel, so class X calls classes Y and Z.
Classes Y and Z call BAPIS and do different database changes.
If classes Y or Z have finished, the status of processing is written into a status table by caller class X.
The processing logic within class Y and class Z should be a SAP LUW in the sense of a update function module (TYP V1).
Can i use events?
(How) Should i use "call function in upgrade task"?
(How) Should i use "call function starting new task"?
What is the best method to realise that behaviour?

problem. May be there is a newer way ... but it works.
STEPS:
I asume you have splitt your data in packages.
1.) create a RFC-FM: Z_WAIT
It return OK or NOT OK.
This FM: does following:
DO.
call function TH_WPINFO -> until the WPINFO has more
than a certain number of lines. (==> free tasks)
ENDDO.
If it is OK ==> free tasks are available
call your FM (RFC!) like this:
CALL FUNCTION <FM>

BPM Parallel Process with Exclusive Gateway

Hi,
I am facing issue with Exclusive Gateway in Parallel Process.
Issu is, process always in In-Progress state at parallel Join. I mean process stops at Parallel Join and more over there are no errors in the process. If I delete Exclusive Gateway in Parallel process, the process is going to next level human task through Parallel Join. It means working fine.
I have designed my process in such a way that, 1st task is Human Task ---> then Parallel Split with 2 Human tasks, out of one task performing throught Excusive Gateway and another one is just simple approval. Finally I am merging these two Human tasks using Parallel Join then finally triggerting Approval Human task, and closing the Process.
Appreciate your quick suggestions to fix this issue.

If I delete Exclusive Gateway it is working fine. I have checked step by step tasks in NWA, and every thing goes well.

Parallel process run independently, but do not stop when vi completes

So I posted a problem yesterday about getting 'elapsed time' express vi to provide updates from a sub-vi to the calling vi. It was suggested that I create a parallel process in the sub-vi that will run the elapsed time function at the same time the other processes are running. I tried to implement this idea, but ran into a problem. The elapsed time process is a While loop paralleled with the main While loop in the sub-vi, It updates every second, based on my time delay, and when I view the running sub-vi, the elapsed time indicator is updating as it should. The calling vi, however, is not seeing these updates. I have wired an indicator to the sub-vi icon, but does not change until the sub-vi finishes.
Also, the other problem with the parallel process is that it runs forever, regardless of the other loop finishing. I have tried to wire an or'd bool to the stop inside the While loop, but when I do that, the elapsed time process does not start.
I have tried data binding a shared variable in the project, and then dragging that to my calling vi, but again I get no updates on the elapsed time.
Any ideas????

A VI must finish looping before it has an available output (the terminal on the sub-vi icon). Research how to communicate between loops. What you are doing can be accomplished with Notifiers (that's what I'd use), Queues, or Global/Shared Variables.
Your issues appear to be due to a lack of understanding of the LabVIEW data-flow paradigm. Check out the Producer / Consumer example. Post code here and see if one of us can give more guidance.

Now the question is after providing the links between " Delete index" process and individual loading process (Infopackages),the message I am getting in the checking view is " Too many parallel processes for chosen server " and furthe,r the suggested procedure by system is " Reduce the number of parallel processes in the chain or include sub-chains :
How can I reduce the processes? Is there any alterante method of building this flow to avoid warning messages..
Though these are warning messages ,what is the correct flow of building process chain for this without getting any warning messages.

Based on dependency better you can go for 3 parellel process at a time as what we are doing in our project.
check schedule time for each your process chain which fetchs data from source system (Info Package) and re schedule them which should not execute at a time (make it max 3) and try again

BPM - Independent Parallel Processing

Hi,
i need a suggestion.
Via JDBC Outbound Adapter a BPM receives a multiline element from a database periodicaly . For each row the BPM does a sync rfc call and following a sync JDBC update call back to the database.
Currently i have tried par foreach and foreach, but with a message size of more then 1000 rows the bpm needs over an hour to complete all steps.
What is the best solution for parallel processing the multiline message in the bpm ?

For-Each or Par-For-Each is the only way in your case. But what u can do is, reduce the number of rows. If you have the polling time as 5 mins, then reduce it to 2 mins. So the rows might get reduced.

Parallel Processing in ODI with Unique Requirement

Hi All,
I have a unique requirement. I have a scenerio which i have to run multiple times in parallel with different user inputs.
Eg Suppose user inputs A,B,C then i have to run the same scenerio 3 times with input filter as A B and C respectively in parallel.
If user inputs A,B,C, and D then i have to run the same scenerio 4 times with inputs A B C and D in parallel.
Does any one know a way to achieve this.

I want to increase the parallel processing for pulling the data from R/3 to PSA. I dont find any options available in Info package. Like DTP, is there any options available to increase the parallel processing from R3 to PSA.

Parallel processing in background

Hi All,
I am processing 1 million of records in background, which takes approximately around 10 hrs. I wanted to reduce the time to less than 1 hr and tried using parallel processing. But the tasks run in Dialog workprocesses and giving abap short dumps due to time out.
Is there any other solutions using that i can reduce total processing time.
Please note that i cannot split. I am getting 1 million records from a select query and after processing all those records in SAP, I am sending to XI and XI will post in legacy system.
