Parameters with report

I need to create a screen that wherein the user would first select parameters eg. Product code, region code, sales_manager. The user would then press a button and this must kick off a report (based on the parameters selected) that can be downloaded into excel.
How do I go about doing this?

A solution to your question is described here

  • How to filter a sharepoint list with report parameters

    Hello there,
    I'm trying to make a sql report on a sharepoint library. I have no problems to connect to the library but i cannot find a way to filter my data source with report parameters. I've searched on the net a lot, found some stuffs about xml but nothing that shows
    how to do it with sharepoint. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi mgarant,
    As you mentioned, by default, we can use xml parameter "query" to filter a SharePoint list from SQL Server Reporting Services. We can also modify the value for the "query" to use SQL Server Reporting Serivces parameters to filter the SharePoint list.
    Below are the detailed steps for your reference:
     1.Change the query string to be a string like this:
    <Query>
    <SoapAction>http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/GetListItems</SoapAction>
    <Method Namespace="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/" Name="GetListItems">
    <Parameters>
    <Parameter Name="listName">
    <DefaultValue>{ADBE55DB-63A1-4C14-9DA0-B1B05C13B4C8}</DefaultValue>
    </Parameter>
    <Parameter Name="query" Type="xml">
    </Parameter>
    </Parameters>
    </Method>
    <ElementPath IgnoreNamespaces="true">*</ElementPath>
    </Query>
     2.In the dataset modification dialog, go to "Parameters" tab.
     3.Create a Report Parameter(e.g. CityParam).
     4.In parameter tab, create a parameter with:
    Name: query
    Value: ="<Query>
       <Where>
          <Eq>
             <FieldRef Name='WorkCity' />
             <Value Type='Text'>" & Parameters!CityParam.Value & "</Value>
          </Eq>
       </Where>
    </Query>"
    Please note, “case sensitive” is required. In this case, the parameter name for "query" must be in lower case. WorkCity is name of a field in the SharePoint list.
    For more information about how to retrieve value from SharePoint list, I would suggest you reading the following article and threads:

  • Passing parameters from report to new page with portlets.

    Hello everyone:
    I have a plsql report portlet on a page that has a column that I would like to pass as a parameter to a new page to populate more portlets. I tried setting up a link but I can't seem to get the value in the column to pass as the parameter. I am a novice when it comes to developing portlets.
    Thanks in advance!

    The link is the way to go (at first). You have to create the link first. Then assign this link to the column that you want to the hyperlink to appear on - this assignment happens on the 2nd tab of the report (Column formatting) by choosing the newly created link in the link dropdown. After you have assigned the link to the column you must edit the assigned link where you can then choose the value that must be passed across.
    The link approach works fine, but there are limitations. I just do all the links in code these days - so in the report select statement I have <a href....>. This gives more flexibility. Ultimately there is the issue of passing parameters to forms: using links (or hand coded) you can pass parameters to reports (if param is also defined as input param with ":") and also forms, but all you can do with a form is to pass param that can be used to uniqeuly identify one record which is the one that will show in the form. Anything else (e.g. pass a param to prepopulate a field on the form) needs an even more complicated solution (:).
    Cheers.
    Anton.

  • Parameters and report on the same page

    I am new to HTML_DB. I would appreciate your help with the following:
    I have html page with items(parameters) and report on the same screen.
    Items are:
    Customer: Select list with Submit
    Invoice No.: Select list - Populated invoices numbers for the selected customer
    Department: Select List
    Prod Month: Date Picker
    Button: Report View.
    Users can select any of the above parameter to create a report. The problem is when I don't select any customer and just select the department or prod month and click on a Report View button, I get SQL error in the Invoice Number item.
    It seems when the page refreshes to create a report Invoice Number items sql query is executing but when it does not find the customer name, it’s giving the error.
    If I select a customer name, the page gets refreshed and the report is generated. I don’t want to create a report when they select a customer. I want them to select the parameters and click on the Report View button to create the report on the same page.
    Thank you.
    Regards,
    Rek

    Sounds like you are building the query string and submitting that and the fact that they leave something out messes up that string...<br><br>If that's the case, you can add validations to the page to make sure they enter in all the appropriate information.<br><br>

  • How to use lexical parameters with Sql Server Stored Procedure?

    Hi,
    I'm developing a BI Publisher report on a sql server database. I need to execute a stored procedure to dynamically build the query by replacing the lexical parameters with the values of varaibles of the stored procedure. With Oracle stored procedures, I have used data template and had reference the varaiable in SP by prefixing it with '&'.
    It doesn't work if I try to do the same thing with SQL server. Is there anyone who has come across the similar situation? Please let me know if anyone has got any ideas...
    Thanks in Advance

    TopLink currently doesn't support multiple ResultSets. Multiple ResultSets support is considered for a future release.

  • International characters in parameters to report, via RWServlet

    Hello,
    I'm having problems passing parameters with Swedish characters (e.g. e, d, v) to my reports, when the reports are accessed from the web using the RWServlet.
    I get no matches for these parameters, but I do when the reports are run in the Report Builder.
    The machine is running SunOS 5.7, and the RWServlet is running in a WebLogic Server.
    The NLS_LANG environment variable is set to AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1 when running the Reports Server and the same encoding is used in the database.
    In the URL used to run the report I specify the Swedish characters using the same encoding (ISO-8859-1), like this:
    http://servername/RWServlet?...&param=N%E4ssj%F6
    Has anyone encountered the same problem, or do you know what I might be doing wrong?

    Encountered the same problem (two years later). Did you ever find a solution?

  • How to pass parameters to reports

    Hi,
    I am a new user to dev2000, i am struck at passing parameters to the reports, i have used lexical referrences, to the where clause, in the query that i have written in reports builder. It created a user_parameter of that where_clause. now i am trying to pass this parameter, from the form to generate a report btw'n dates. please sugest me if there is any other way, or correct me if i am on the right path, here is the code that i am calling from the form.
    DECLARE
    pl_id ParamList;
    --repid REPORT_OBJECT;
    --v_rep VARCHAR2(100);
    BEGIN
    pl_id := Get_Parameter_List('tmpdata');
    IF NOT Id_Null(pl_id) THEN
    Destroy_Parameter_List( pl_id );
    END IF;
    pl_id := Create_Parameter_List('tmpdata');
    Add_Parameter(pl_id, 'WHERE_CLAUSE', TEXT_PARAMETER, 'WHERE SYS_DATE = ''18-JUL-01''');
    --repid := find_report_object('report34');
    --v_rep := RUN_REPORT_OBJECT(repid);
    Run_Product(REPORTS, 'REPORT34', ASYNCHRONOUS, BATCH,
    FILESYSTEM, pl_id,NULL);
    END ;
    I am gettting an error saying FRM-41211: Integration error:ssl failure running another product.
    this error is comming when i try to access for the first time, and
    Starting report REPORT34 [Tue Jul 24 16:35:14 2001] ...
    REP-0110: Unable to open file 'REPORT34'.
    REP-1070: Error while opening or saving a document.
    REP-0110: Unable to open file 'REPORT34'.
    End report REPORT34 [Tue Jul 24 16:35:20 2001].
    this for the next time, with out closing runtime env.
    If i have to use RUN_REPORT_OBJECT how can i pass parameters to reports.
    Another thing i encountered is when i am using RUN_REPORT_OBJECT which is working it shows me the parameter form of the reports and when i click on run report, it is just creating a file under forms directory and asking each time when i run report wether to replace it or not and from where it is calling the printer object and actually nothing is being printed, and every thing is fine with the printer and it is not showing the report out put and it shows end of report in the log file of the background report product.

    For your 1st problem it seems to be a bug in Forms 6i - you can visit this site:

  • Unable to pass parameters in Report Bulder due to single quotes

    Hello,
    I have a problem with parameters in Report Bulder.
    This is the query:
    where task.closed_at between (@Per)
    Then I need have to pass following value to @Per : DATEADD(month, -5, getdate()) and getdate()
    to get following:
    where task.closed_at between DATEADD(month, -5, getdate()) and getdate()
    But I suppose Report Builder put the values to quotes and WHERE looks like:
    where task.closed_at between 'DATEADD(month, -5, getdate()) and getdate()'
    and Builder returns syntax error.
    How can I solve this issue and avoid these single quotes surrounding the value?
    Thank you.

    Hi zotchy07,
    According to your description, you have a report created use Report Builder. You want to select data according to the search condition: task.closed_at within 5, 12 or 24 months.
    Please refer to the following steps to achieve your goal:
     1. In design surface, right-click Parameter and click Add Parameter.
     2. In Report Parameter Properties dialog box, type the name and prompt, set  Data Type to Integer.
     3. Click Available Values in left pane, check Specify Values.
     4. Click Add, set Label to 5, Value to -5.
     5. Repeat step4 above, set Label to 12, Value to -12, then Label to 24, Value to -24, then click OK.
     6. Right-click the dataset you used to retrieve data and open Dataset Properties dialog box.
     7. Click Filters in left pane, click Add.
     8. From Expression drop down list, select closed_at and set Operator to between.
     9. Click the first (fx) button and type the expression like below:
    =DateAdd("m", Parameters!param_name.Value,Today())
     10. Click the second (fx) button and type the expression like below, then click OK.
    =Today()
    In this way, when we preview the report, there are 3 selects in the parameter drop down list: 5, 12, 24. If we select 5 and click View Report, the data within 5 months will be displayed.
    The following screenshots are for your reference:

  • Problems with reports: parameter screen

    I work with Reports Builder 9.0.4.0.21.
    When I open some reports, the screen parameters appears with mode and orientation parameters.
    I don´t want these parameters and I eliminate these parameters in screen and I saved the report, but when I open and run again the report, the parameter screen with these parameters appears again
    May anyone help me?
    thanks in advance
    Beatriz

    Open report in report builder. From report menu, Tools--> Parameter Form Builder, it will open up a window. Scroll down and see if any parameters are checked ( background color of parameter will be in black). click on parameter to uncheck. Press ok, it will open up report editor-paper parameter form. Remove everything on this parameter form (you will only see two parameter form headers, if you have already unchecked everything on the previous screen)

  • No "save data with report"

    Hi
          I have a report with prompts... I saved the report with "_save data with report_". If i didnt do the "save data with report" ,every time I run the report ,its asking for selecting  Prompts.
    My question is
          when i run the report , It should not ask for prompts and I need to fetch the latest data from the database but not the saved data .
    Plz get me out of this situation.
    Thank u

    Hi Dans,
    Purpose of parameters:
    The purpose of creating prompts in the report is to filter  the data as per user's requirement.Whenever you refresh the report it is going to ask for the parameter values as the crystal engine will fire the required query on the database and include the parameter values in the 'where' clause of this query.In the absence of filters report fetches all the records in the databse which can significantly impact the performance of this report.
    Minimum requirement for getting refreshed data:
    In order to fetch the refreshed data (and not the saved one) the query needs to be complete before executing and thus the where clause condition needs to be complete as well.
    To solve your issue:
    In your case,if you want to avoid being prompted then you may hard code the desired filters in the record selection formula(Report>>Selection formuls>>Record) say as in Order_id not in (,,,,,,,) and order_date>'' etc
    Limitations:
    However after hard coding the values you may loose the flexibility of choosing the filter values at runtime.
    If you have any further queries please keep this thread updated.
    Thanks

  • Printing with Reports 9i problem rep-1110 Unable to open file '*garbage*'

    When I try to print from forms9i to reports I got an error like I would be sending garbage in the
    report name.
    - we work with disables roles, so I clear that option, I added ADM role.
    - I change report so I don4t need to send parameters
    But this problem persists.
    Is like when compiling the form it compiles the name of the report wrongly.
    Is this some bug?
    Any idea?

    I have had issues with reports failing to run. My solution was to change settings on the Report App server. I changed the engine parameters to:
    initial engines=2
    maximum engines=5
    minimum engines =2
    maximum job before shutdown (englife)=1
    maximum idle before shutdown=30
    JVM Option= -Xms512m -Xmx512m
    When in the report App server, you should see a page with settings similar to above. Make sure you try these settings in the test environment first (you can change them around then to see what works best).

  • Passing parameters across reports

    Hi,
    Anybody knows how to pass parameters from one report to another using drill across reports?
    I want to feed parameters of a second report (drill across) with values from parameters from a base report where the second report is called.
    Is it possible?
    Luciano

    Hi,
    I don't found a way to pass parameters between reports with Drill Across feature.
    But I can do that using report actions (inserting a button in the view or report) instead of Drilling Across.
    I would like Oracle develop these two functionalities:
    1) Allow passing parameters between reports with Drill Across (today I can only pass fields to prompts);
    2) Allow replacing a view with a report using report actions - as mentioned (today I can only open the report in a new window).
    This two functionalities are complementary.

    Selection Variables
        The following three types of selection variables are currently
        supported:
        o   Table variables from TVARVC
            You should use these variables if you want to store static
            information. TVARVC variables are proposed by default.
        o   Dynamic date calculations:
            To use these variables, the corresponding selection field must have
            type 'D' (date). If the system has to convert from type T to type D
            when you select the selection variables, the VARIABLE NAME field is
            no longer ready for input. Instead, you can only set values using

            The system currently supports the following dynamic date

             Today's date +/- x days

  • Form with report, where some items in the form have been given values.

    Hi, greetings:
    I have a question that maybe silly but annoying to me. I need to provide a form with report, where some items in the form have been given values automatically, and these items (display only) are supposed to show given values in the form automatically.
    I used the APEX form with report. The update and delete worked well. But I cannot show automatic values when insert. By default APEX insert form makes every item null; I tried to give value for two items: P5212_USERKEY, P5212_DAILY_VER_DATE with process before header, after header, after regions and before footer, and computation, or set values of these two items in the branch when user hit create button (submit). It never worked out, the two items always displayed null value, and when I insert, I got "ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into ("TBSBI"."DAILYVERPRODNOTE"."USERKEY")", since I have set up constraint in database that these two columns should not be null.
    Could anyone help on this? any suggestion would be appreciated.
    Sam

    If you have made these values 'Display Only' they would by default not save the session state. Accessing the page items will always return NULL. Did you change the 'Save Session State' option to 'Yes'?
