Pass info from safari to X11 application

Hi,
I am wanting to pass some data from a web page (viewed using Safari) to an X11 application and I was wondering if anyone can suggest how to do this ?
The data in question is ascii text and represents a script which is passed to a molecule viewer (rasmol running under X11) which then displays the appropriate molecule. The web server sending the data gives it a unique mime type. The X11 program needs to be invoked from the command line to specify the name of the script file which is sent. Under other unixs (IRIX and Linux FC3) it is possible to have the browser activate a shell script which sends the text to a temporary file, then executes the X11 program. I have the shell script set up but can't assign the mime type for it (I tried RCDefaultApp which won't allow the selection of a shell script in its mime type setup). I've also tried this with FireFox 1.5 but it doesn't seem like the mac version handles the passing of data like it does on Linux. Any other suggestions ?

Hmm, I doubt you'll be able to what you want directly from Safari.
Do you have to interact with the data via the browser beforehand, or could you just pass the url pointing to the data to a command line tool like curl instead?
I'm a little fuzzy exactly what workflow you're after so apologies if I've got the wrong end of the stick

I have an application using HTTPService that pulls
information from a XML file and displays an image and text within
the window depending on the selected item. The image and text

file, but I cannot figure out how to pass the link to the button.
I have tried to create a function, but the URL isnot passed
to the broswer. The application tells the browser to go to
"{data.link}" at the local server, not the actual URL.

IMac freezes when opening finder from Safari or other applications to import files

Hello,
I have an iMac late 2013 27inch
When I'm in Safari and want to upload a picture or file from the HDD, finder opens but then there is the rainbow circle and the whole Safari freezes.
Same with other applications like Prezi.
I don't know what to do !!
Maybe its because of Dropbox?
Please help.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

How to pass info from jad to jar

Hi,
When reinstalling an application into a mobile (at least nokia or motorola modern mobile versions) teh mobile ask you if yo uwant to save old data. If you choose yes the RecorsStore keeps exactly the same, no one variable is re-writed. So how can I know in teh code I mean if the application has been installed again? I mean, when launching teh application , I want that my code reconice if thee application has been installed one , 2, 3 or whatever times. How can I do that? Maybe pasing a paramenter from teh jad to teh jar during the installation?

Can't Paste Info From Safari 4 to Mail

I can select text in Safari 4 (the info shows up on the Clipboard) but I cannot paste directly into Mail with out first pasting it into a text editor. Nor can I drag and drop the text into Mail.
Any thoughts?

one of the many bugs in Safari 4. it's beta software after all. nothing to be done about it but wait for it to be fixed by Apple.

Passing arguments from jnlp file to application

Hi,
I am using a jnlp file to launch an application. This is working perfectly. Now I want my application to get some custom properties for making an rmi connection . The only place where I must specify this is in the jnlp file which is dynamically generated. The dynamically generated JNLP file contains:

<property name="abc.rmi.adapter.port" value="5050"/>
<property name="abc.rmi.adapter.servicename" value="abc/RMIClientAdapter/"/>
This does not work.
However, according to sun only certain types of properties are supported by jnlp for security reason. Is there any way to get over this and have my custom properties. Any help will be appreciated.

If you are trying to use RMI, you probably need all-permissions allready.
for applications requesting all-permissions, all of the properties set in the jnlp file will be set as system properties before the applications "main" is called.
If you are not using <security><all-permissions/></security>, then only specific trusted properties, plus any begining with "javaws." or "jnlp." will be allowed.
For properties you just need to pass to yourself, just append "jnlp." to the front of them.

Passing parameters from AdfFacesContext to EBS applications.

I have a requirement where I need to pass some parameters from a .jspx page and need to access these parameters from EBS controller classes. We have tried to instantiate WebAppsContext passing .dbc parameter file and by validating the login in the backing bean class. Can someone please confirm us if this is the right way to do this or there are any alternatives? If I pass some parameters in session object following the above steps should these parameters be gettable from EBS controllers?

What you are doing is the correct method, But the .jspx, First get the root Applicatin Module and initialize the apps context.
Then you can use the parameters from appscontext.

Can I pass info from a frame to another and paint with the new info.

How do I get info from Active Directory and use it in my web-applications?

I borrowed a nice piece of code for JNDI hits against Active Directory from this website: http://www.sbfsbo.com/mike/JndiTutorial/
I have altered it and am trying to use it to retrieve info from our Active Directory Server.
I altered it to point to my domain, and I want to retrieve a person's full name(CN), e-mail address and their work location.
I've looked at lots of examples, I've tried lots of things, but I'm really missing something. I'm new to Java, new to JNDI, new to LDAP, new to AD and new to Tomcat. Any help would be so appreciated.

By this time you probably have already solved this, but I think the problem is that the Search Base is relative to the attachment point specified with the PROVIDER_URL. Since you already specified "DC=mycomp,DC=isd" in that location, you merely want to set the search base to "". The error message is trying to tell you that it could only find half of the "DC=mycomp, DC=isd, DC=mycomp, DC=isd" that you specified for the search base.

Pass parameters from JSP Dyn Page to WDJ Application

I am trying to pass parameters from my JSPDyn Page to WDJ Application.
I am using NWDS 7.1 EHP1
My code is :

      EPCM.doNavigate
    ('ROLES://pcd:portal_content/Himanshu.Himanshu/TestDynUIApp?DynamicParameter="hkparam%3Dqwertyuio"');
This method is being called on click of a button.
hkparam is the parameter in question.
The JSPDyn page is an iView and the WDJ application is a page and both have been assigned to a role.
In the properties of the WDJ Page, I have removed DymanicParameter from "Do not Forward These Parameters To Web Dynpro" property.
However I am getting null as the value of hkparam in my WDJ application.
The code used is :
IWDRequest request = WDProtocolAdapter.getProtocolAdapter().getRequestObject();
       String param1= request.getParameter("hkparam");
What seems to be missing here.
Please help.

Try this code.
EPCM.doNavigate("ROLES:portal_content/Himanshu.Himanshu/TestDynUIApp?hkparam=Dmypass1123")
if the parameter is hkparam and the value to be passed is Dmypass1123. You need not change any design time property of the WD page, and WDProtocolAdapter should retrive the parameter.

Passing data from one bsp application to another

Hi,
I have few queries that most of you would have done in ur projects:
1. I want to pass data from one bsp application to another:
eg based upon selected row of table view which populates material no and descriprion to another application which open the entire material master data.
Now, i have both the pages in diff bsp applications in place but unable to pass the selected material code to the second bsp application.
Had it been two different pages of same application I was able to achieve it with set parameter()
2. To stop the application from reprcessing the data:
eg: Suppose I have a bsp page where user fill details of a customer and on submitinng the details a customer is created in background and the entire page is disabled by my code. Even now if the user press refresh (F5) button then another customer gets created in the background. So basically i want to avoid the reprocess of the onSubmit event

Opening pdf's in applications from safari - ipad

When opening a pdf in an application from safari (i.e. pdf expert, goodreader) the pdf name does not show correctly. Is there a way to properly create the pdf or open it differently to keep the name in the application?

Hi Gerard
You'll need to use at least Adobe Reader 8.1 with Safari 3, otherwise, Safari crashes. To install Reader 8.1.3, go here. At the site, click on the drop down selection menu and choose "Power PC 10.4.3 - 10.4.10". Otherwise, Adobe points you to Reader 9 instead of 8.
Before installing Reader 8, go to your HD>Library>Internet Plug-ins folder and move to the trash the existing Adobe PDF plug-in. This way, you're ensured of a clean install of version 8.
After the install, and prior to opening Safari, I suggest you go to your Applications>Utilities folder, open Disk Utility, highlight your HD and select "repair permissions".
Post back and let us know if that stops the crashes.
