Passing a generated value to an applet

Hi,
I was wondering how would I pass a value which is selected by a user from a drop-down menu on a webpage to another different webpage with an applet in it which is then used as a parameter to the applet.
Any help would be good
Thanks!

You can actually pass values directly to the applet via LiveConnect. It uses JavaScript to do its "magic". Try googling for LiveConnect.

  • Passing array values to an Applet from JSP

    Hi,
    I have a JSP page in which I've arrays that are populated from a DB. I want to pass these array values from the JSP page to a Applet in the same page. Is it possible ?
    Any help will be appreciated.
    :-) Praveen

    Then the answer is no. The Applet doesn't exist until it is instanciated by the browser so the JSP running on the server can not pass Java Objects. You can either set up a javascript array, set the parameter tags in the HTML Applet tag or have the Applet open a URLConnection back to the server.

  • Passing null/empty values from a actionscript VO to a Coldfusion ORM object

    This is the situation.
    If you have an actionscript VO that binds to a Coldfusion ORM object via the RemoteClass metadata and some of the values are not set, null, or empty strings and you pass it from Flex to Coldfusion then the Coldfusion deserialization barfs saying the values are not acceptable date values (for type="date") or valid emails (for validation="email") or other such validations, even if required="false" on the property.
    For instance, if you have the following actionscript VO:
    package vo
        [RemoteClass(alias="com.companyname.Person")]
        [Bindable]
        public class Person
            public var person_id:Number;
            public var last_name:String;
            public var first_name:String;
            public var email:String;
            public var created_date:date;
         public function Person() {}
    And you have the corresponding Coldfusion component:
    <cfcomponent displayname="person" output="false"
        alias="com.companyname.Person"
        schema="dbo" persistent="true"
        table="PERSON">
        <cfproperty name="person_id" type="numeric" fieldtype="id" validate="integer" required="true" column="PERSON_ID"/>
        <cfproperty name="last_name" type="string" column="LAST_NAME" required="true"/>
        <cfproperty name="first_name" type="string" required="true" column="FIRST_NAME"/>
        <cfproperty name="email" type="string" validate="email" required="false" column="EMAIL"/>
        <cfproperty name="date_created" type="date" required="false" column="DATE_CREATED"/>
    </cfcomponent>
    Then if you pass the actionscript VO as is to Coldfusion, the deserialization complains that you do not have a valid email or a valid date for date_created.  This is bad, bad, bad.  Essentially if you have a validation of certain types (email being one) or a date property, or probably some other cases, then you essentially can not make it not required, it automatically makes it required because the Coldfusion serializer considers null/empty values as invalid dates or emails.  But the serializer should not care for values that are not required, there has to be a way to pass null/empty values to these data types, but apparently there's not.  If you pass an empty string ("") you still have the same problem.  I know Coldfusion does not have null values, but there has to be a way to do this, otherwise it defeats the purpose of having required="false" and some kind of validation on the property.
    There seems to be two ways around it.  One is to override the implicit setters for the properties on the Coldfusion side and check for 0 length values yourself, then set the property if it is not, or create your own validation routine.  I ended up creating my own validation function since I didn't want to have to write a setter function for everyone of these cases and I can pass back user friendly validation messages.
    Have other people encountered this problem?  How have you gotten around it?  Thanks.

    I realize that I didn't clarify that I am using ColdFusion
    for getting the data. This class was generated by the Create CFC
    wizard in Flex Builder.
    package com.generated
    [Managed]
    [RemoteClass(alias="components.generated.clients.Clients")]
    public class Clients
    public var clientid:Number = 0;
    public var clientfirstname:String = "";
    public var clientlastname:String = "";
    public var clientaddress1:String = "";
    public var clientaddress2:String = "";
    public var clientcity:String = "";
    public var clientstate:String = "";
    public var clientzip:String = "";
    public var clientphone:String = "";
    public var clientemail:String = "";
    public function Clients()
    }

  • How to pass multiple MDX values for a single parameter into a drill-through report?

    I'm thinking this will be an easy question for any experienced SSRS/MDX developers, at least I hope so!  I've created a report that gives the user the option to choose viewing data for the current/active week, or YTD.  Depending on which link the
    user selects, the report simply calls itself and needs to pass in the parameter value for Active week.  If it's active week, the parameter value will simply be "true".  If it's YTD, the parameter value needs to be both "True" and "False" so the current
    week's data is accounted for as well.  I've set everything up except for the final step, and I have no idea what to type into the Value field below.  I've tried different things: false, as you see below (it errors saying I'm missing the parameter
    value), the value in MDX format: =[School Dates].[Active Week].&[True] (it said I was missing a bracket), a 1 instead of the word true (again, missing a parameter value).  Nothing is working.
    So my question is kindof two-fold: 1) how do you pass in the value at all and 2) more specifically, how do you pass in multiple values (both true & false) ??

    I'm sorry for being so dense, but I'm not quite following, although what I've tried makes me think if I can follow you, it will work :)
    To answer your initial questions, you are correct with both your assumptions:
    1) detailType is the parameter that specificies YTD/Weekly, this is a "report defined" parameter that I am using to determine which Row Group to display (either YTD or Weekly)
    2) SchoolDaysActiveWeek is the parameter that is being set to either true or false -- this is a field in the cube that states whether that record is for the current week or not
    So in following your instructions, well that's the problem I'm not quite following :)
    1) When you say Delete the SchoolDaysActiveWeek parameter from the report only, do you mean to mark the parameter as Hidden?  If so, I've done this.
    2) I'm not quite sure where to use the statement you provided me.  You said to put it in the dataset, but I don't know which dataset.  I assume you mean the "main" dataset (as opposed to the hidden dataset that gets generated when you mark a field
    as a parameter).  If this is the case, the only place I could see that would allow you to use such a statement is in the Filter section of the properties.  I tried this, and it did not generate any errors, but it also kept my report groups from displaying
    -- it just showed a blank report, so I think it probably wasn't bringing back any rows to populate them with.
    I also tried going into the Expression section for the SchoolDaysActiveWeek parameter in the second screenshot and placing the statement there.  When I did this and ran the report, I would get the following error:
    The 'SchoolDaysActiveWeek' parameter is missing a value
    So what am I missing!?
    Also, thanks for taking the time to respond!!

  • How can i pass the Input value to the sql file in the korn shell ??

    Hi,
    How can i pass the Input value to the sql file in the korn shell ??
    I have to pass the 4 different values to the sql file and each time i pass the value it has to generate the txt file for that value like wise it has to generate the 4 files at each run.
    can any one help me out.
    Raja

    Can you please more elaberate., perhaps you should more elaberate.
    sqlplus is a program. you start it from the korn shell. when it's finished, processing control returns to the korn shell. the korn shell and sqlplus do not communicate back and forth.
    so "spool the output from .sql file to some txt file from k shell, while passing the input parameters to the sql file from korn shell" makes no sense.

  • Passing multiple integer values as parameter in SSRS

    Hello,
    I am trying to pass a comma separated multiple integer value parameter in SSRS report and it errors out complaining that it is not able to convert the nvarchar value to datatype int. But it works fine when I pass a single value. Here is the code I am using
    for the report and I am stuck at passing multiple values.
    SELECT
    id,count(*) as cnt
    from table
    and ID in (@id) group by id
    eg: if I pass 10,20,30 then I would get error however if I pass 10 then it works fine
    Is there a different method to pass multiple integer values?
    Thanks for your help.

    A comma is, of course, a textual character and not an integer, thus the error you are getting. Multi-value parameters can be used for this.
    Select "Allow multiple values"and set data type to Integer. Multi-value parameters deliver the values as an array. The query interface is smart enough to convert them to the proper syntax (comma-delimited) automatically so a statement like:
    WHERE Field IN (@id)
    where the parameter has an array of values {1, 2, and 3} is interpreted as:
    WHERE Field IN (1,2,3)
    You do not need to manually convert it in a transact SQL query. That is not the case for displaying the value array in your report. If you wish to display the array (described above) in your report as "1, 2, 3", you will need to use a join expression:
    =Join(@id, ", ")
    As DJ described, the other part to a multivalue parameter is the Available values. These can be set explicitly but given your example, I think it would be best to create a new dataset that retrieves a distinct list of the IDs that can be retrieved, perhaps
    something like:
    SELECT DISTINCT GroupName, GroupID
    FROM table
    WHERE [criteria]
    Set the available values to use this query with GroupName (or whatever user-friendly field you choose for your dataset) as the label and the id as the value. The label field should be something the the target report user can easily identify the correct group
    using.
    If you don't want to or can't use a multivalue parameter for some reason then you will need to manipulate your parameter value prior to consuming it in your query. When you add the parameter to the TSql query and save the dataset, SSRS adds it to the Parameters
    property of the dataset. Open the dataset properties and select the parameters tab. You should see your parameter in the list. click the expression builder (fx) button next to the value and enter this expression:
    =Split(@id,",")
    Note that the second element of the expression is the delimiter. If your text input has comma-space as a delimiter (1, 2, 3 vs 1,2,3) then that element must include ", ". My example just has comma so if you use that with a string "1, 2, 3"then
    the resulting array will still have 3 elements but the 2nd and 3rd elements of the array will have a preceding space which will cause your dataset to error with the same error. As long as there are no non-numeric characters in any of the elements, the split6
    will create the text array, SSRS will dynamically generate the correct "IN"syntax (comma separated) and SQL will convert the elements from VARCHAR to INT on the fly.

  • How to Pass a HEX-Value to AdobeLifeCycle (TA:SFP) .

    Hello all,
    how to pass a HEX-Value to print a BLACK RIGHT-POINTING TRIANGLE?
    I want to pass a HEX value to AdobeLifeCycle (TA:SFP).
    This is done as follwoing:
    *-- Variablen
    DATA hex(2) TYPE x.
    SET BIT: 01 OF hex TO 0,
             02 OF hex TO 0,
             03 OF hex TO 1,
             04 OF hex TO 0,
             05 OF hex TO 0,
             06 OF hex TO 1,
             07 OF hex TO 0,
             08 OF hex TO 1,
             09 OF hex TO 1,
             10 OF hex TO 0,
             11 OF hex TO 1,
             12 OF hex TO 1,
             13 OF hex TO 1,
             14 OF hex TO 0,
             15 OF hex TO 1,
             16 OF hex TO 0.
    The HEX-VALUE ist u201E25BAu201C from the codepage 4110 = BLACK RIGHT-POINTING TRIANGLE, (use TA:SPC to see it).
    I set the HEX-VALUE before i call the PDF-OUTPUT:
    move hex to ls_frmglobal-hex. u201E(the field ist defined as u201ERAWSTRINGu201C)
    Then i call the Output;
    Now call the generated function module
    CALL FUNCTION fm_name
      EXPORTING
        /1bcdwb/docparams = fp_docparams
        frmglobal         = ls_frmglobal
        frmisu            = ls_frmisu
        frminf            = ls_frminf
        connections       = connections
        t_sums            = t_sums
      EXCEPTIONS
        usage_error       = 1
        system_error      = 2
        internal_error    = 3
        OTHERS            = 4.
    The result is u201E25BAu2018 instead of the BLACK RIGHT-POINTING TRIANGLE.
    Can any one have a idea what is goning wrong?
    I know how to print a Triangle on the Designer the quetion is how to pass the Hex-Value from a different codepage than the Stanndard codepage which we use.

    All I want to know is how to use the RE class tocheck

    Correction:
    If the data is numeric, it can be matched using a hex,
    or octal representation for the regular
    expression. for instance, the numeric value 6 will be
    matched with either of the following regexes (hex,
    and octal, respectively). Read the API for

  • Passing a default value to the master block and do the auto query

    Hi
    My problem is i have a MD FORM to which i have to pass a default value and do an auto query so that when i run the form the form should open with this default value and do the query and get the details.
    I tried many things like trying to set the value of the column using p_session.set_value and then calling the same form using wwa_app_module_link by using the value in the condition but every time unless i press the query button i did not get the values.
    Now i don't know what to do.
    My portal version is 3.0.7.6.2
    Some body please help me
    thanks
    Sreedhar

    I don't think this works for 3 parameters, but I know it will work for 1. Maybe you can do something with it.
    1. Create a link to the destination component (YourProvider.YourLink)
    2. Use the code below to use that link to pass the value of a form field to the destination component. 'FieldName' is the field on the destination component you want to query, and '_FieldName_cond' is the condition. This creates the destination URL.
    3. wwa_app_module.set_target(l_url) will send you to the URL you generated.
    l_url := PORTAL.wwv_user_utilities.get_url('YourProvider.YourLink', 'FieldName', v_YourParameterValue, '_FieldName_cond', '=');
    portal.wwa_app_module.set_target(l_url);
    I'm not the best at this, but this works for me in most cases.

  • Pass Select list value to URL as a parameter

    I am trying to pass the selected value from a select list via a button to a URL.
    &P_VALUE=&P_VALUE.
    P_VALUE is set to USER SESSION.
    It shows as prevous session value. If I show the the session value is not set to the selected value.
    If I call a PDF report via a button, it displays the correct value and the session values is correct.
    If I select the button for the URL again, is shows the previous value.
    When I go back to the form and call select the button again, the correct parameter is passed to the URL.
    Any Ideas?
    Thanks,
    Jerry

    If you use substitution at the time, the button gets generated, you don't have the new value - the button is generated with the rest of the page, and then later the user changes value of the select list. You have two choices:
    1)Use Select list with submit - and transfer the user to second page using branch (which get's calculated after submit when select list has already the new value)
    2)Use Javascript to catch the onChange/onClick event of SelectList, read the current value and do the redirect from JavaScript.

  • Passing current row values as parameter issues.

    JDeveloper - 11.1.1.6
    JHeadstart - 11.1.1.4.26
    Weblogic - 10.3.5
    I am having trouble passing parameters from a table to a popup.
    I have a master group that contains a detail group, within this detail group I have created a group region. This region is meant to show remarks for the current details table record.
    In the details group (table layout) I have specified as the region "depends on" item a textInput field so that when I click the context area I get the popup.
    The remarks group (in the popup) has a composite key comprised of three attributes that exist in the detail table. What I need to do is pass these values as parameters to the remarks group.
    Here is what I have done so far:
    1. Created parameters on the top level remarks group - names match parameters set in region
    2. Created a "query bind parameters" string with the necessary VO bind variables.
    3. In the detail group where the region exists I have created the parameters that I am trying to pass TO the remarks group.
    My problem is that the parameter values that I am trying to pass to the region/remarks group are not being filled correctly. For parameter values I have tried:
    #{row.bindings.attributeName.inputValue}
    #{bindings.DetailGroupNameAttributeName.inputValue}
    #{bindings.DetailGroupNameTableAttributeName.inputValue}
    Many, many others
    These attributes exist and are editable in the table.
    All I want to do is pass these three values from the detail table (per row) to the remarks group. What am I missing? What EL expression will give me the per row values I need? I know there is a lot of material out there on this, but I seem to have tried them all, I don't know where I've gone wrong.
    Thanks...

    I think I have figured this out...
    I am a bit embarrassed but it turns out that the bindings for the variables I was trying to pass were not being generated. I forced it and now things seem work as expected.
    Is there some sort of bug in JHS that would cause the bindings not to be generated? I don't understand because the fields are all visible and update-able in my table. Why would some bindings be created, but not these?
    I'd like to understand what where I went wrong.
    Thanks!

  • Re-using expression-generated values to input into other expressions (read-out)

    Hi there everyone. I was wondering if there is a way to 'capture' expression generated values and either buffer these values or re-using them directly in other expressions. I am trying to track rotations of parented layers, which are generated from the DuDuf IK expressions. Getting the rotation through a pick-whip will always return zero, of course; but as After Effects is able to physically show the expression generated value as a number, I guess it should also be able to output this number somewhere as a (buffered) digital value to be re-used somewhere again.
    Anyone ideas?

    Hi Dan, good to hear from you. I know, it sounds that easy. I'll try to explain this thing with a little more detail. If I can find a way to tackle this challenge, it will save me about 60 hours rendering each time this job passes my desk.
    I have a standard (5 sec.) comp with four lines of text in just one font with a fixed size and everything. As explained before, I run a script that generates between 300 and 400 copies of this comp, giving each new comp a logical and unique name, ánd... replacing the contents of all text lines in every copy of the comp. Now the first line of text is easy: just a number. It's left justified and the layout is always correct. The second, third and fourth line are actually a few people's names (the whole comp is actually a crew title for participants in the Dakar rally), where every name is followed by a three-character nationality abbreviation, like USA, or GER or FRA and so on. You must understand that the comp is built up in seven independant text fields, of which each one gets its content automatically through the mentioned script from an Excel sheet. Now here is the problem:
    The designer who created the layout for the titles wants to have the three-character nationality abbreviation exactly one character space BEHIND the name in every title. Ofcourse, the name (set in its own text field and AE layer) is pretty variable in length, so the position of the nationality field that comes right next to the name field, needs to be automatically adjusted in accordance with the name field length. To determine this position, the designer wrote (or adapted) an expression that samples the 'image' of the preceding name title, thus finding the rightmost white pixel (the titles are all simply white on black) and thus, with a certain offset, generating the right basic position for the following title.
    Now I thought I checked thoroughly for a possibility to extract the rightmost 'bounding box line' of a title in another video layer in AE somehow, and I couldn't find it; whereas you mention this can be done. If that is really possible, it would save my day...
    All I ran into was that text layers are always comp size (thisLayer.height and thisLayer.width always give 1920x1080 in an HD comp, no matter how small the text in the text layer) and therefore it seemed impossible to me (and the man who wrote the expression probably) to get any useful info concerning the characters positions and bounding boxes etc.
    So: how can this be done? How can I measure directly what the position value of the rightmost pixel of a line of text is and pass that on to another layer's position? In that case I can work around the time consuming sampleImage expression.
    I'm sure someone is going to send you a big bottle of wine on this one .... :-)

  • Unable to pass report column value to url in select statement. Please help

    Hi all,
    I am trying to pass the report column value as follows:

    '#KEY#,'#NUM#','9' ELSE null
    END Attachment
    from tableA
    {noformat}
    But, I am not able to figure out correct sysntax to pass these column values. Can anyone give me some help. I appreciate it.

    Suma,
    If you're trying to generate a column with a URL, try something like the following:
    select key, num,
    case when Attachmentcnt(KEY) != 0 then
    'f?p=&APP_ID.:91:&SESSION.:'' '':NO::P91_KEY,P91NUM,P91_PREVPG:'
    || tableA.key || ',' || tableA.num || ',' || :P91_PREVPG
    else NULL
    end
    FROM tableA;
    But the best way to pass these would include checksum values against the values of your parameters (to make sure a user doesn't hack them). You'll need to check the Apex User manual for details - See "Understanding Session State Protection".
    Good luck,
    Stew

  • Passing/setting parm value

    I have a multi-row page that has an "edit" link button on it (set to the rec_id of the row).
    I want to set a global variable value when the "edit" button is pressed so that I can access the value from another page. I could not seem to figure out a way to do this from a link vs a button.
    Any ideas?

    hey scott--
    as you've found, those link generator popup screens only support the passing of 10 htmldb item/value pairs. if ever you need to pass more than 10 values via the url, you can simply change your link's "Target type" field to "URL" and enter those values manually into the "URL Target" field using our f?p= url syntax. having said that, i thought i should mention that i've yet to see a good reason to be passing so many htmldb item values through the URL. that's kinda why our generators only support 10 values, actually -- 10's a lot as it is. not to assume too much, but you might want to rethink your implementation a little and try to pass only the values you need to pass.
    the two issues you noticed (the error when you provided more than 10 vals and the fact that you couldn't select application level items in those popups) were bugs, and i've just logged them. as mr.spadafore said, though, you should be able to set application level items w/o issues via the URL. just enter those name value pairs into those Branch Action fields manually to get around the popup issue.
    hope this helps,
