Passing query across pages

Hi all,
i have an interactive report page based on 3 joined tables, after filtering, ordering and so on i would like to pass the result (source) to another page in order to format all rows and print it.
can i do this in some way?
thanks and regards.

Hello,
You can preserve the where clause. Look here.
Maybe that'll help...

• More than one way to pass an attribute across pages

Hi, I need to pass an attribute (not a parameter) across pages, there seem to be two ways and I tested them, both worked. But I still have doubt.
Approach 1: in a.jsp: session.setAttribute("house",house);
in b.jsp: Object house = session.getAttribute("house");
Approach 2: in a.jsp : RequestDispatcher rd = request.getRequestDispatcher("b.jsp");
request.setAttribute("house",house);
rd.forward(request,response);
in b.jsp : Object house = request.getAttribute("house");
Now my question is: Is it safe to use session to pass an attribute when the value of the attrbute is quite dynamic. I tried to test it, it seemed ok. But I can not convince myself completely.
Anybody can give me some comments on the two approaches? Which is safer, which is better?
Thanks

Both methods can handle dynamic data. The determining question s how long do you need the data for? If you only need the data for the life of the request use the request.setAttribute. If you need to access that data during the life of the session then use session.setAttribute.

• Passing data while navigating across pages

I have a registration page across more than 6 pages.
which is splited as personal details, contact details etc...
I have to store the data as user enter details each page.
But should save the data to database after completion of last page.
How to do we maintain data enterred across pages?
Hope this clarifies. Waiting for earliest reply.
thanks
Regards
priyaps

That answer has to be one of the worst I have seen.
All the data in the request object at the end? What dreamworld do you live in?
The request parameters only last for one request. Every time you submit a page, you send a new request.
In order to retain state over multiple requests you need to use the Session.
Best way to do it is to create a java bean that will encapsulate all the data you need to enter across all the forms. Making it a session bean means that all its values will be retained on the server.
One by one, as you submit the pages, put the values entered on the form, into the bean. If you need to go back a step, you can retrieve the data from the bean to repopulate the form.
At the end, all of the data is stored in your session bean.
Then you can write a method which saves the values in your bean to the database

• Help needed in row selection in Tabular form across pages

Hi,
I have a tabular form report similar to http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:95. I want to select some rows from first page and then use the pagination to get to the next page, select some more rows and hit the submit button for processing. The rows selected in the last page alone are picked up for processing, and the ones selected in the earlier pages are lost. I see the same behaviour in Denes' example as well. I picked a row in the first page and a row in the next page, and then click "Pick Records", i see only the record i picked on the second page.
I did play around with "partial page refresh" setting for the tabular form region, but that does not help.
Is there a way to select across pages in a tabular form?
thanks,
Rams

Okay. I could make this work, but this seems to be a roundabout way for me. In my case I dont have any database related query to get the values, hence the Application level process may not be needed.
When I select the checkbox, i get the value. I am hoping that I should be able to send the value to a javascript function and update the filed value in the function itself. Please see the function below..
function setFileID(pThis) {
var chkvals=pThis.value;
var fldValue = new $x('f_FILELIST').value ;
if (fldValue != 0)
{ $x('f_FILELIST').value= fldValue+'-'+chkvals;}
else
{ $x('f_FILELIST').value = chkvals ;}
This function works fine in making up the list. The issue is, when an already selected row is unselected, the value of the checkbox gets added one more time :) If I detect the checkbox status and subtract the corresponding value, this will be perfect..
Thanks for the link anyway. I am marking this question answered.
regards,
Rams.

• Does CF really auto-decode URL parameters passed to a page?

CF docs and livedocs state that:
quote:
ColdFusion automatically decodes URL parameters that are
passed to a page
(for example, see the URLEncodedFormat tag description, last
sentence of opening paragraph)
However, if you have a url-encoded url parameters, as in
?var1=1%26var2=2 (%26 is url-encoded equivalent of &), and in
your page you try to validate url parameters with <cfparam
type="integer" name="url.var1"> or with isvalid("integer",
url.var1) function, the validation will fail! Apparently, inside at
least this tag and function Cf does not automatically decode url
parameters... it sees the var1 declaration, but sees its value to
be not 1, but 1&var2=2, which surely fails validation against
type "integer"....
This behaviour has been brought up in these forums several
times now, but nobody has been able to explain how this relates to
the CF docs statement... Any ideas, anyone? Is this an expected
behaviour? Are the docs wrong? Does 'parameter', as in "url
parameters", refer only to specific parts of query string and does
not include url var name/value pairs separator? Apparently the same
happens if you have "=" sign url-encoded, too...

I will have to think on this, do some reading and try some
experiments.
But my first thought is that this is expected behavior. I
would
propose the purpose of URL encoding the ampersand(&) is
so that it will
be considered a part of a value, not its usual role of
name-value pair
separator. So in my mind this is the way it is supposed to
work.
val1=1&val2=2 : val1 is 1 and val2 is 2
val1=1%26var2=2 : val1 is '1&var2' or '1&var2=2'
I will have to explore this further.

• Pass aprameters between pages

Hi,
I have HTML DB form calling a complicated report (in Oracle reports).
Oracle reports takes in about 50 parameters.
Each parameter is represented in the form by a list manager or a select list.
I want to design the form in such a way that the items are spread among different tabs/pages on the form and finally call Oracle report for all these parameters passed through different pages.
Could any one help me figure this out? Thanks,

> I have multiple select as one of the item in page 1. In which case,
> these values are stored in the database.
Well, if they are on an HTML DB page, as a result from a DML or SELECT operation, then you can reference their value in HTML DB.
> Then, I can't pass these parameters directly between pages,
> right? Is querying directly from the database the only option?
I'm a little confused here, as I think you may be overcomplicating how HTML DB works a bit.. An HTML DB item can have a number of different sources - one of which is from a database column. If you are intending on updating previously committed data, then you would need some sort of process to fetch the data into the HTML DB items.
If you are using this as a "wizard", and want the user to select 100 different options then commit, you don't need to directly commit your transaction until the user clicks on the "save" button. Every item's value is automatically stored in session state by HTML DB; that's what you can reference from any other page.
Hope this helps,

• Portlet to Portlet Across Pages

Does anyone know the recommended way to do portlet to portlet interaction ACROSS
PAGES? i've seen the 'martini' portlet but this doesnt show how one portlet can
affect another portlet on a different page.
I've tried connecting webflows via proxy nodes (doesn't work right, causes portlet
B to be included in portlet A's page, which will cause errors)
I've started to do a "forward" customization to the portal like the "redirect"
example on dev2dev, but this doesn't work well either.

Heya Kurt,
We did almost the same thing you are trying to do (we had a quick search
input
box in our header instead of a portlet that appeared everywhere).
We implemented it using a tag such as this:
<portal:form event="bea.portal.framework.internal.refresh"
namespace="search"
pageName="SearchResultPage" name="frmBasicSearch" method="GET">
The SearchResultsPage rendered our SearchResultsPortlet. The search
results
portlet's webflow had the refresh event go directly the SearchIP (which
is a bit
weird...but it worked). We did this in Portal 4.0.

after some thought, i think the best way to do this is by doing an actual

• How to keep together Title + table's line across pages

Hi all, I have a question.
I'm trying to create a .rtf template where I have a table with 4 lines and a title <PROJ_NAME>
I need to repeat this table (with all the necessary information - 4 lines) as many times as the projects' names are stored on the DB.
For example: if the employee has 4 projects, on the report I will see 4 times these table and the relative project name as title.
So, the repeating group mechanism works perfectly, but I am not able to control how the table's lines are splitted across pages....
In other words if I have two pages in my .rtf template and I am at the end of the first page:
1) I don't want to see the title on the bottom of the first page and the relative table above on the second page (title and table splitted on two differents pages)
2) I don't want to see the title and a portion of the table on the bottom of the first page and the rest of the table (1,2 or 3 lines) above on the second page (table splitted on two differents pages)
At the end I'd like to see always title and table together even if the page finishes. If the title + table exced the table's vertical border, it has not be splitted, but rewrite entirely (title + table) on the next page.
The syntax is this:
<?for-each-group:G_PROJ;./PROJ_NAME?><?PROJ_NAME?>
TABLE WITH 4 LINES
<?end for-each-group?>Page break
I tried also, reading the forum, to use the paragraph properties (Keep lines together), but nothing.....
Anyone can suggest me something ?
Thanks in advance
Alex

After the for loop,
take a table (suppose A) with one row and one column. In that table insert the Project name tag. Below that tag, insert an inner table(suppose B) in table A with 4 rows and columns you wish. Now select the outer table A(select the whole table), and in the table properties/Row , in the options , uncheck the 'Allow row to break across pages' property.
end the for loop.

• How to build a query across parent and child object fields?

As a part of an Integration Requirement, I need to query Opportunity records that have been Modified after a specific date and time?
Now, Opportunity has a child object called ProductRevenue with a one to many relationship. Is there anyway I can construct a querypage that will fetch records whose Opportunity fields 'OR' its child ProductRevenue's fields have been modified after a specific date and time?
I have tried using the SearchSpec argument, but it does not let me query across child object fields.
For eg:-
ObjOpptyQueryPageInput.ListOfOpportunity.Opportunity.searchspec = "([ModifiedDate] > '01/01/2013 00:00:00') OR ([ProductRevenueData.ModifiedDate] >= '01/01/2013 00:00:00')";
[This above code written in C# thew me an error saying - The object Opportunity does not have an integration component called - ProductRevenueData.ModifiedDate.]
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi,
As far as I know this can't be done at once because you have to consider :
- Every Opportunity and their time-limited ProductRevenues
AND
- Time-limited Opportunities
If you want to achieve this, you have to consider the 2 datasets separately and make your first query :
ObjOpptyQueryPageInput.ListOfOpportunity.Opportunity.searchspec = "([ModifiedDate] >= '01/01/2013 00:00:00')";
but also another query with the restriction on the ProductRevenue Searchspec.
This shouldn't be too hard because the searchspec functionality is present at each level :
- ListOfOpportunity -> Opportunity (the top-level that you used for your query)
- ListOfOpportunity -> Opportunity -> ListOfProductRevenue -> ProductRevenue (the sub-level that you should use for the second query)
Then in your C# code, you merge the 2 datasets and you end up with your expected result.
Hope this helps,
Charles.

Hi,
1. Create a CKF, inside the CKF window create a new Formula Variable --> Right click in left side window on var and say create new Variable
2. Create new variable of replacement path type and reference Characteristic as the TO DATE value which you want to be max.
3. Now drag this new created var to CKF and save.
4. Now create condition with follwoing deatils:
Key Figure              Operator     Value
Max Date(CKF)       TOP N          1
Save and execute your query. This will give you max value for the To Date field.
Hope it works .

• Issue tabbing across page breaks in dynamic form

Hi all,
I have a strange problem that I'm having trouble getting to the bottom of, relating to my dynamic form.
This form grows and shrinks depending on how the user fills it out. I have a questionnaire section where certain questions are hidden or shown depending on previous input.
Things get interesting when I look at the tab order. Sometimes when tabbing forward or backward across page breaks, the focus lands on a spot that I cannot identify. There will be no cursor and I can not type. However if I continue to tab in the same direction, I can see that it is still going in the correct sequence. It just looks like for some reason, in those places, focus is put in the wrong component. But if I type different input into the prior fields (ones that affect the length of the pages) that causes the field to move to different place where it's not adjacent to a page break, and then tabbing to the field in either direction works fine. It seems that only when it's beside a page break, it becomes problematic.
Also, it only seems to be a problem if the field gets moved to be adjacent to a page break AFTER the form is initially rendered. If the field was originally beside a page break by default, then it seems to work fine.
Just to rule out a possible problem with the tab order configuration, I set my from to Automatic tabs, and even went as far as removing all the <traversal> elements from the form.
After doing either of those things, the problem still persists.
Has anyone seen this before?

Hi Eric,
I have seen funny behaviour when tabbing within Preview in LC Designer. It may be picking up a read-only item in the Master Page.
Good luck,
Niall

• Can't drag icons across pages

I uploaded all my iPhone apps and now I'm de-cluttering the mess. Few icons move across pages and the empty pages don't close. I can't move folders across pages at all. What trick am I missing?

It can be done, but from my personal experience it takes a special touch. An easier way would be to connect your iPad to iTunes, open the device, click on apps and you can use your mouse to drag icons from page to page and even create folders, by dropping one app into another (when you do, a name the folder bar opens as well).
