Passing values from multiline container

Hello Gurus,
I am new to workflow and I have a requirement wherein I have a multiline container element (DiscDocStatus of type EDISCDOC-STATUS) filled with the status values.
If all the values in container DiscDocStatus are 10 or 11, then I need to execute certain steps (step A and step B) and if any other value than 10 or 11, then I have to wait for 10 days and then do step A and step B.
Could you please how to do it?
P.S. I know...I am asking tooo silly thing...but do not have any option but to ask...apologies....

In that case you can try as below & i checked the same. it works for me..
1. Create a block step in your workflow... In local container tab of block step create a single value container element which has
data type as line type of your multiline container...
Say for eg: your multiline container has datatype as (char10) with multiline checkbox enabled then create this container element in
local container tab with datatype as (char10) without multiline checkbox (ideally you can compare multiline container as internal table
and this single line container as workarea)..
2. In control tab of block step do the binding from multiline container to single line container. Leave the Block type dropdown in control tab as standard.
3. Put a condition step within block with condition as single line container NE 10 and NE 11. (So in case the multiline element has even a single value which is not 10 or 11 then workflow control will enter this condition). Place a container step in outcome True of condition step to set a flag variable as X (Note: Create this flag variable in workflow container)
4. Now outside the block again put a condition step which checks whether this flag variable is set as 'X' (if it has value X then it means that multiline container has atleast 1 value other than 10 & 11. If not it means all values are either 10 or 11). So If flag is X you have to wait for 10 days and then do step A and step B. If not you can execute steps A & B. For waiting for 10 days you can go for requested start deadline which will send the workitem to the inbox of approver only if the mentioned time period/deadline (in your case - 10 days) expires.

I hav a requirement as below...
1) In a Bus. Object, there is a method with a parameter which is Multiline.
2) When I execute it directly from Bus. Object, I am able to populate any no. of lines to the multiline parameter & execute it. It is working correctly.
3) Now I have created a task for the same Method & used it in my workflow.
4) I want to pass multiline values to the parameter from workflow.
5) I dont have any internal table being filled in the previous steps. I directly want to assign variables or constants to it.
How can I do it????

I am also facing same type of problem. i am new to workflow. i am using using FM sap_wapi_write_container. to write into the container. but here my problem is i don know wat is the element name to refer to the value. if i give any element naem its taking as separate element & not as the same multiline container. i hope u will be able to assist me since u have worked on the same type of problem.

How to send message from multiline container to same webservice or bus. sys

Hi All,
I want to send message from multiline container to a syn web service sequentially.
I am getting that multiline container after a transformations step (1: n mapping).
where i dont known what will be the value for n (number of message in multiline container). This will vary; depend upon input message to BPM.
Scenario is like this.
1. Receive step
2. Transfromation to 1: n
3. Want to send message from multiline container to a web service (business service),default loop and block step doesnt give desirable result.
any help will be appreciable

Not necessarily.
When you use block step in ForEach mode, you can select the container variable from:
- a receiver container;
- an interface container;
The line element can then be either a receiver or an interface.
The problem is that for this to work, the interfaces need to be async (since they are to be used as containers) and hence you won't be able to make your scenario work.
But again, explain why your scenario with loop step didn't work.
The only gap here is how to determine the number of loops (defining the counter variable value). But that can be easily solved if you include a new message with occurrence 1 as a target message of your mapping and as a container in your bpm.
This new message needs only 1 single field, that should be filled with the number of messages you've created in the mapping (you could use count standard function, f.ex.).
In your bpm, make sure to pass this fields value into the counter container right after your transformation step.

Custom Rule - Problem in passin values From Rule Container to WF Container?

Hi Guys,
I am having hard time passing values back from my custom rule. I have created a custom rule to determine the agents in PFAC which takes in the Person number as import element of container. It determines the Manager as agent and I am passing Managers Person Number back to workflow. If he dont approve the Request then it will be passed to his boss. In this case I will pass this imported Mangers Person number back to rule so that his boss will be determined as agent. I have created ZRULE function module. I am passing value back from Rule container to Workflow Container using following code.
swc_set_element ac_container 'SUPERPERNR' lf_super_pernr.
I have created a element SUPERPERNR on rule container and workflow container as well .The problem is in the Rule container I am not able to create SUPERPERNR as export parameter. The tick mark is grayed out and there is no option for setting it as export.
My question is do I have create a Export element on Rule container or Not? If i just write the code
( swc_set_element ac_container 'SUPERPERNR' lf_super_pernr ) will it set the value in WF container? In my case it is not setting. I have to bind the values from rule container to WF container and if My rule container element is not allowing me to click the tick mark as export how can i pass value of of rule container back to WF Container?

     Same scenario I have developed in my system. This all steps I did in my system.
1) Created a Z function module which takes import parameter (Parameter name = 'EMP') in the
    format 'US100123'.
2) This in turn fetches back the supevisor or boss as an export parameter (Parameter name = 'BOSS') in
     the format 'US100245'.
3) This function module is attached to a BUS object(SWO1).
4) While attaching this function module to BUS object you need not do any manual coding it is done
    automatically.
5) Implement, release and generate this BUS object.
6) Create a new variable in your workflow (Parameter name = 'ZSUPERVISOR') for storing the value
    which is returned by the Z method.
7) Create a new task.
8) Put in your BUS object name, then your Z method name, select background processing checkbox.
9) Press save, it will ask for transfer of missing elements, select yes.
10) Then you will see a green button below your Z method name click on it.
11) Top portion contains your Z method variables, below to it you have the import parameter window in
      this window you should have &EMP& -> &EMP&., below to import parameter window you have
      export parameter window in this window you should have &BOSS& <- &BOSS&. (This is method
      binding).
12) Now click on enter button then click on back button it will generate the task binding automatically
     just press yes.
13) Now click on binding exist button.
14) Here you have the Workflow container variables as well as the system container variables.
15) In the import parameter window left portion is for your workflow variables and right portion is for your
      method variables. In my case i had sent workflow initiator and fetched his supervisor. The Import
      parameter binding was &WF_INTIATOR& -> &EMP&. and the export parameter binding part was
      &ZSUPERVISOR& <- &BOSS&.
16) Save the task and run the workflow.

how do I pass values from a workflow to a step (Form) - approve form?
I am using a customized table structure as my data source (FORMCONTAINERELEMENT) but am stuck on how to access the data when i get to to the screen painter's flow logic... What am i missing? Can you give me a step by step example. the ones i see on the net are input fields that update the screen... nothing that shows value being passed from the outside.
I need to pass an exisitng value in the workflow into the form for approval of the the assigned agent.

         Create a method just before the form step.This method should populate the values for the fields maintained in the form.
         Pass the values populated from this method to your customized table structure (data source).In other words, you have to pass all the values to the workflow container.
        To the step, pass this workflow container by binding.In the control tab of form step, you have to do the binding.

I think he meant the global namespace.
You set a :global_your_name_here to a value and that value is available in your entire application. See the help file section on the global namespace for more information.
Forms parameters are parameters that you form picks up from the outside when it starts. The calling entity must supply them in the URL or they will be set to null. You set them up in the object navigator in the Parameters node.

I am Automating STATSPACK reporting by modifying the sprepins.sql script.
Using DBMS_JOB I take the snap of the database and at the end of the day the cron job creates the statspack report and emails it to me.
I am storing the snapshot ids in the database and when running the report picking up the recent ids(begin snap and end snap).
From the sprepins.sql script

could it be the begin_ and end_ Colums of your query?
Seems SQL*PLUS hs parsing problems?
try to fetch another column from that table
and see if the error raises again.

Í have a scenario where i need to pass value from Crystal Report to a Business view's parameter.

I guess you got the picture wrong. User_id is not a report_level parameter .
In Data Foundation, below query is used..
select Acc_Number, Account_Group,User_id from Accounts where user_id={?User_id}
where in {?User_id} is the BV parameter...
The Filter was a solution. But it takes long time to Query all the data from DB and then filter at BV level.
How do i pass the CurrentCEUsername to {?User_id}
Value should ve CurrentCEusername always. so that query will be
select Acc_Number, Account_Group,User_id from Accounts where user_id=CurrentCEusername
It will restrict the data pulled from DB to BV .. right?

Did you write the perl program? Can you change it? Or are you trying to interface to something that already exists? This will limit your options, of course.
Anyway the first option is simple. The java program does this:
System.out.println("This is a line of input.");The perl program does this:
while(<>)and in that block, $_ is assigned to each line of input.
Then you can invoke both like this:
$ java MyJavaProgram | perl MyPerlProgram.pl
