PDDoc Save Problem

I have a script written in VBA (Outlook 2003, Win XP, Acrobat 9) that works on one machine but not another. The problematic part is the PDDoc.Save with which I'm saving the file to a new path and filename.
When it doesn't work the PDDoc.Save returns True as if it DID save but no PDF is produced and the name of the open PDF doesn't change.
Again, this works on one machine but not another and I've been unable to figure out what the difference.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Ken

I've posted the question to the SDK forum, though I'm not sure why this would fall under the guise of the SDK and not just scripting.
I mentioned in the initial post that the Acrobat version is 9, 9.4.3 to be exact, on both machines. I've also since tested it on a third machine and, again, it worked just fine.
The code is pretty straight forward:
    Set AcroAVDoc = Acro.GetActiveDoc
    Set AcroPDDoc = AcroAVDoc.GetPDDoc
    WasSaved = AcroPDDoc.Save(AcroSave.WebOptimized, CheckPath$ & PDFName$)
I've double and triple checked all the parameters and they're correct when the PDDoc.Save is executed so I'm at a loss as to why it's not actually doing anything.
Is there some sort of setting in Acrobat that might be preventing the scripting from saving the file?
Thanks again

  • Weird save problem Word 2004 using OS X 10.4.x

    We have major problems saving Word documents using Mac OS X 10.4.x on a server volume. What really makes it odd is that the problem only occurs in the afternoon. The problem has only been reported by users trying to save using Microsoft Word 2004.
    When the problems occurs it is not possible to save or save as on the server volume - Can not find volume. The volume is available on the desktop. Saving the file on the desktop works fine.
    Mac OS X 10.4.2/10.4.3/10.4.4 with all updates installed.
    Microsoft Office 2004 Swedish with SP2 installed.
    It is a Windows Server 2003 with MacShare IP 9 installed. We've had the problem for some time and have replaced the server during that time, the save problem still remains though. It makes no difference with or without MacShare IP installed.
    Anyone have any ideas how to solve this one?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
    When dealing with Windows environments, I find it best to save the files as archives before sending them over to Windows environments. The file naming conventions differing by operating system, and the formats of what get sent sometimes can get corrupted when moving from system to system. This I found especially true when saving to a PC formatted flash drive. To make a file an archive, save it on the Mac first, and the control mouse click the document in 10.3 or 10.4. The contextual menu brings up a create archive. It has been my understanding than 10.4's archive format is more compatible with Winzip and 10.3 more compatible with GnuZip, both of which you can find clients for under Windows. Both 10.3 and 10.4 have the ability to open these documents directly when saved as this format.

  • PDF 'File Save' problem in Firefox

    Using Firefox browser, when I select a PDF file that opens in a new window [rather than a new tab], save it and close the window, the AcroRD32.exe process is not stopped.  If I then open another PDF file in a similar manner, it can not be saved.  Each time you close a PDF window, you have to go to Task Manager and stop the AcroRD32 process before being abl;e to save a subsequent document.  This does not happen with IE.
    Using Reader 10.1.1 and Firefox 8 on a Windows Vista32 system.

    Same bug i see in Opera browser. PDFs doesn't saves without stopping AcroRd32 process. And save dialogue doesn't appears when clicking links (even if web browsing function deactivated in adobe reader settings)...
    Apart from this File Save problem, there is more strange things while browsing PDF online, like "blinks", hangs, image dissapear, suddenly lags without any reason, browser crashing and more...
    So, because adobe reader prevents to download PDFs, and because it works very buggy with online browsing, especially if website uses adobe flash to show PDFs, the only right solution i found is uninstalling adobe reader. After that File Save problem was gone!

  • How to tell PDDoc.Save() to use CombatibillityLevel 1.4?

    My application is using OLE to open PDF Files in Acrobat 9 and store them optimized for fast web access, again. Unfortunately, Acrobat stores the files as PDF 1.7 even if they were PDF 1.4 before.
    Is there any possibility to tell Arcrobat 9 to use PDF 1.4 (no matter if generall configuration or OLE command)?
    I´ve already tried to set the compabillty level in the distiller configuration but it seems, that PDDoc.Save always ignores these configurations.

    ok, thank you very much. It seems I have to look for a third party tool to convert my PDFs to PDFs with fast web access enabled. Just one last question: Is there a way to configure my Acrobat Installation to always save any pdf in PDF Version 1.4 (like the CombatibillityLevel Setting in Distiller)?

  • PDDoc.Save doesn't save on 1st (and sometimes 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc...) try, but saves eventually

    Basically, I have a List of files to import to my C# program from a directory.
    The C# program opens the files in Acrobat X, runs a plugin on them, and once the plug in has completed, it saves the files to another location.
    AcroAppClass mApp = new AcroAppClass();
    AcroAVDocClass avDoc = new AcroAVDocClass();
    AcroPDDoc pdDoc = new AcroPDDoc();
    if (avDoc.Open(fileToOpen, ""))
        pdDoc = (AcroPDDoc)avDoc.GetPDDoc();
        mApp.MenuItemExeute("My plugin name");
        bool saved = false;
        while(!saved)
            pdDoc.Save((short)(PDSaveFlags.PDSaveFull | PDSaveFlags.PDSaveCopy | PDSaveFlags.PDSaveLinearized | PDSaveFlags.PDSaveCollectGarbage), saveFileName);
            if(File.Exists(saveFileName)
               saved = true;
           else
               Console.WriteLine("Save failed");
    The while(!saved) loop runs anywhere from 1 to x times. x has been has high as 10 times, or as low as 2, but never 1.
    Why may this be?
    I have full Administrative access to the drive, the files and the folders. The INTERESTING point is that eventually, after executing the PDDoc.Save command multiple times,
    the file does end up saving, but this can't be correct operation, right?

    BarlaeDC, the plugin edits the annotations in the document to update the links to URI annotations instead of standard Launch annotations.
    Is there a way to get a report back from my plugin to my calling application so that it knows when the plugin is completed doing its job?
    Bernd, application requirements by the client do not permit saving through the plugin. They want the C# code called through even another program, and need the C# to report back to it about the save.

  • Dreamweaver 2014.1 Build 6947 (Mac) - save problem

    I updated to latest version yesterday and now have a problem when I save files which shouldn't happen on a 2012iMac saving to a thunderbolt drive - and didn't happen before updating.
    When I save a file i get to watch the (very pretty but boring) spinning top for a longtime. If the 'Force Quit' window is open it shows Dreamweaver 'not responding'. Mostly but not always Dreamweaver decides to respond again.
    Same site, same settings, same HDD as before the update.
    IMac: 3.4GHz i7 32GB RAM
    OS X: 10.9.5
    What have you broke?

    Hi Nancy,
    It seems it's a bug, so I will go back to the previous vetsion. Thanks for
    the link!

  • PdDoc.Save()

    I am having trouble saving a pdf. I'm using the SDK in C#. My project just grabs a bunch of pdf files and merges them.
    I have added a COM reference to Acrobat.
    I open the first one manually using avDoc, then with pdDoc.
    Then I loop through the rest of the files and append them to the first doc.
    After I am done merging, I try to save by using pdDoc.Save(), but for the first argument nType, I can't get any value to work in there. I tried putting PDSaveFull, but that didn't show up in intellisense and it gave me an error, then i tried to put 1, but that just returned false.
    Am I missing some other reference? Or am I just doing something completely wrong?

    After playing around with it more, I got it. Thanks =)

  • About the validity of CosObj after PDDoc save

    I know that a CosObj will be invalid after PDDoc save with linearize or full save.
    But I'm not sure that CosObj is still valid after save with increment.
    By now I use the CosObj after increment save is OK,i just want to confirm that this is OK.
    Any advice?
    Thanks.

    lrosenth wrote:
    You are removing the CosObj from an Array and then saving the changes incrementally.  That means that the object is still in the PDF but "unattached" to anything (I am assuming) so it is now marked as free in the xref.
    BUT then you want to reattach it back to the same array?   Are you going to save again?  Don't understand the workflow involved....
    Yes, you are right. I want to reattach it back to the same array.Only one precondition:not want to create a new CosObj.
    After that, save again.

  • Read only / save problem when multiple user accessing PDF

    When accessing a PDF-file from a network location (where multiple users might have the file open simultaneously) I have noticed a problem.
    First of all you will not get notified when opening the file that it is open elsewhere, there is no "read only" mode in this case.
    Secondly (and worse) is the fact that the person having opened the file first is prompted to save it under a new name when she/he is saving changes since "file is open elsewhere".
    This works quite the opposite of what most Windows applications do.
    Is it a problem in version 7 and 8 of Acrobat only?
    I have heard from the support previously that it might be unsupported functionality to use network drives for editing. Is that true?
    If you are doing updates after a review but want to share the outcomes of the review this quite annoying...

    I agree, and I have seen the same points as well, but...
    During the update process after the review many reviewers are looking at their comments and how they were handled during the review meeting and at the same time the authors (yes, for documents such as a requirement specification there will be more than one author) are doing the updates to the original document.
    We are also updating the PDF with the changes made by adding new replies to the comments and also changing the status of the comments once more.
    The logical approach when opening a file is not to display a text box, but to add the information in the title bar of the program. That way you do not add an extra step to the people who only want "read only" access.

  • ITunes album art screen saver problem

    Hi, recently when I use my iTunes album art work as a screen saver the albums have a purple tint to them. It hasn't always been like that so if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

    Just thought I'd let you know that you're not alone. I've tried everything i could think of to fix this problem. The only thing that worked was re-installing the os
    and not messing with the settings. But that's not really an option. I only found that out because i got a little delete happy while screwing with my mac.
    2GHz Core Duo 1GB RAM 60GB HDD White MacBook, 1GHz 768 RAM 40GB HDD 12" PowerBook G4, 1.1GHz AMD 386RAM 30GB HDD Windows XP JEDDY-3   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

  • Album artwork/screen saver problem

    I having a similar problem too like most on here, but it has a slight twist to it. This is just recent happened to me and I am not sure if any other people on here has experienced it. I was adding some music and my iTunes loaded the music into my library. Then all over sudden it decided to just crash, I didn't think nothing of it. Tried to reopen it crashed, crashed, and crashed. I started panicing so i restarted the computer, but that is when i released what happened.
    I didn't notice this small problem until my album artwork slide show screen saver started.Somehow or way my iTunes has lost all over its Album artwork in it's folders, BUT.... it's still there on the albums and so forth. So what is the deal? I scanned for viruses i came up with none and I verified the DISK and reparied it everything was okie. But right as I was scanning for viruses the 1st time the whole OSX crashed. Which was the reason see if the HFS Volume 1 had problems but it did not. So has anyone experienced this problem yet? Or is it telling me I should move on and get me a new Mac soon?

    If you post the problem in a new discussion with a new title, someone will be able to help you out. I doubt you need a new computer, try everything and with some luck you will be OK. There are others who will be able to get you quickly fixed right, I am not the best at the problems you are having.
    Cheers, SZ

  • 6280 screen saver problem

    i have a 6280 since the past monday and today i realised that the screen saver isn`t working, although it`s enabled in the Display menu. i tried to restore the phone to the factory settings and the problem persists. you know, at all nokia phones, after a while, the screen turns black and it displays the clock and maybe the date. mine doesn`t do this either.
    can please someone help me!?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    you won't believe it . it was the network . when there is no network the screen saver doesn't work. try yourselfes to see if it's true .

  • Read(Load)/Write(Save) Problem

    I have a form that is filled out by people and I want to save the information in a text file. I have done that well at least I think with the Save code. My problem is when I go to load the text file (.CMM file for my program), nothing happens but it does print out my File Loaded message in the console. Any idea where I am missing something? The getter and setter methods all seem to be correct...
    private void SavePrefs() {
              File SavePrefs;
              // get filename:
              fc.setDialogTitle("Select Filename For Site Data");
              int result = fc.showSaveDialog(f);
              if (result == JOptionPane.OK_OPTION) {
                   SavePrefs = fc.getSelectedFile();
                   // default file extension ".CMM"

         }

    Hi sch,
    i've been figuring out what is the problem and i think i found it.
    Your saving the data with this.
    data.println("CLOSE YEAR="+_SitePropPanel.getCloseYear());
    data.println("OPEN YEAH="+_SitePropPanel.getOpenYear());
    //data.println("COL RATE = "+_SitePropPanel.getCollectionRate());
    data.println("GAS RECOV STATE="+_SitePropPanel.getGasRecoveryState());
    data.println("SITE CLOSED="+_SitePropPanel.getLandfillClosed());
    when trying to System.out the loadData (properties) you can see clearly that it prints out like this
    CLOSE=YEAR, OPEN=YEAH, etc etc
    so obvouisly your not setting correctly.
    it works this way.
