PDF Documents not uploading correctly to web

I have been struggling today with an issue I've encountered with my documents that I made in Illustrator, then had them uploaded to the web. The document displays big squares around all the paths in my document, containig text and gradients inside them.
When I open the document on my laptop, using adobe reader, it displays correctly, with no hassles, but when I upload them to the web, or even drag and drop the document in to my browser, these big squares appear. I'v etried different PDF settings to try and fix this, but it's not working and as a temporary solution, the document was uploaded as a PNG.
The document itself isn't linked to any =thing, it's just a document that opens when you click on the web button to view it, and then you can download the pdf document from the website.
What coulld cause this issue?

SUCCESS! I tried the following this morning. I opened the .ai file in Adobe Photoshop, I set it to not downsample when saving as PDF. Then I opened the PDF in chrome and it displayed correctly, as you can see. But is this the only solution to such a problem as this?

You can't believe the time I spent to solve this problem before calling Adobe for help. My Apple Care policy expired a month ago . As I use Photoshop Elements, I was not charged by Adobe for their help on the telephone.

I have a new L series notebook and its great. The only foible I can think of is a message I keep getting when I try to shutdown. There is a message box that says "One or more PDF documents are open inside a web browser. If you exit adobe reader now, those documents will be closed. Are you sure you want to exit?".
The thing is I do not have any PDF's or web browsers open at the time! Can you help me please?

Believe me its nothing serious the same happens on my notebook from time to time
Usually the PDF files can be read with the Adobe Acrobat reader. This application service runs in the OS background and this message can appears if the Adobe Acrobat reader cannot close the background process automatically
I have solved this tiny problem by removing the acrobat reader from the system. After new reboot I have reinstalled it again
Now the message does not appear and all runs like a dream ;)

You can download PDF files from iWork's page to a mac, but you can't upload from mac. Also, you can't use iCloud like MobileMe's iDisk. Most document formats on your mini can't be copied to iCloud. Use Dropboc instead.

Internal Links in HTML Document Not Working Correctly in PDF

I have an HTML document that contains internal links (basically a Table of Contents). When the document is displayed in a browser, the internal links work correctly. However, when I use Acrobat 8 Professional to create a PDF version from the HTML source, the links don't go to the correct place when clicked. It almost appears that they are off by one, e.g., link 7 goes to anchor 8. I can send the source document for you to look at if you email me at eharris -at- synnovation.com. I am not expert in HTML and perhaps the links/anchors are not done correctly when I create the HTML document. Does anyone have any ideas on this?

This one has the same problem. For instance, "Anchor1" as <a name="Anchor1"> appears 13 times. I am sure that your problem is that Acrobat is going to the last occurance that is just before the first one. As I scan through the file I find similar results for all of the anchors. When I used Tidy, it reduces about 1350 errors to about 474, but that is still not too good. The validator is flagging a lot of identical IDs as well as unrecognized attributes (like ONSELECTSTART). The attributes correctly accepted by body are

as listed on htmlhelp.com for HTML 4. There may be some new ones in HTML 5, but I did not check.
I am not looking at all of your HTML in detail, but there appears to be a lot of unneeded things based on the error messages from the validator. Many browsers will let you display the stuff (even Acrobat), but there may be errors that crop in when you do not expect it or on some other browsers that the one you check. Thus again, you should use a validator. If you are only off a few tags that might be fine, but when it is in the 1000s, there is an issue. It would also be good to break your page up into parts. It is good practice on web pages for each page to be not much more than one screen. That is often exceeded, but 59 screens of info (on my screen) is a bit much. The TOC is definitely needed in that case, but just was well go to a sub page just as well and make the info easier to track. A PDF (as you are trying to get) could be made of the entire system for those that want it all in one bit. Bill

Pdf documents not added on web pages

Hi!
I've got problems adding pdf documents in iWeb.
I'm doing it the way I've always done it:
I insert some text (or a picture) and activate a hyperlink (linking it to a pdf document). I then save and upload the web pages via ftp to my webhost.
This has always worked in the past.
However, now, when I visit the website and click the link to the pdf document I just get a 404-message saying the requested file can't be found on the server.
Any suggestions?

Have you tried publishing you site to a local folder and launching it in the browser by double clicking the index.html file to see if the link works in this version of your site?
Doing this will let you know if the problem is in iWeb or with FTP. If the local version works then the problem is with FTP. If not then you need to troubleshoot iWeb.
Its better to use a hyphen instead of a space in a URL.

How to save a Pages document to upload to the web

I have created a document in Pages '08. It was designed for print (11" x 17") and 2 pages long. I saved it both as a pdf and as a png file but the file size is too large to put on our website (maximum 10 mb). How can I save this file with a reduced file size to upload to our web page?

I am looking in Pages '09, it is possible that is somewhere else in Pages '08 or was only introduced in Pages '09. Look through all of your Menus and in your Pages '08 User Guide.
If it is not there, follow through the other advice which is crop and reduce your images to 72 dpi resolution, preferably as .jpegs, or replace where possible with .pdf vectors both of which form smaller graphics files.
The best solution would be to reconstruct your document asa proper web page so the parts load individually or make a link to the larger .pdf file for people to download.

There's actually an easy streamlined way to do this using Acrobat.com. Here are the steps:
1. Log in to Acrobat.com with your Adobe ID.
2. On the left, you'll see a navigation menu that includes the item "Import and Edit". Click that.
3. Choose the .doc (Word) file you want to convert and upload it to Buzzword.
4. After making sure that it looks the way you want it to, go to the top menu (still in Buzzword now, not the organizer where all your files live) and click the document menu. There will be an option to "Export" - choose that.
5. When prompted to select filetype, choose "Adobe PDF" and press OK.
6. It'll save to your desktop, so now you have to get it into your acrobat.com organizer. To do that, close the Buzzword document by clicking the little "x" in the upper right corner, under the Sign Out button. This'll get you back to your organizer, where you can choose "Import" from the left nav menu again. This time choose your new PDF file.
7. Select the file icon in the organizer and click the Share button. Or, select Share from the file context menu.
8. Select Allow Anyone With A Link To Share This Document to set the document to open access, and then click Copy Embed Code. The necessary HTML code to embed the preview is copied onto the clipboard.
9. Open the HTML file and paste the code into the file. The Flash previewer can display any file type that you can convert to PDF.

Getting and Printing A PDF Document From R/3 Using Web Dynpro

I would like specific information on getting and printing a document residing R/3 using web dynpro. My environment is Netweaver 04s SR2, an it will not include ITS or the ABAP stack. It connects to remote R/3. I will not be using Adobe Interactive Forms.       I only need get/render/print the doc. My question is in 3 parts.
1) Getting the PDF from R/3
     a) In terms of the RFC ABAP module, how should it return the pdf (a table?)
     b) How should the document be stored within the Component Controller context
         for display.
2) Converting the R/3 returned binary into a form that is renderable within
    Web Dynpro. (Does the Form UI Element Require it to be converting and if so
                          what is the best way to do this)
3) Printing the PDF from the corresponding iView in the portal. (If I am using the
    form ui element to display it, how can printing be initiated in the portal)

In webdynpro there s a fecility to convert the general data to PDF by uisng th InterativeForm UI Element.
This for u need to do the following things.
1. Need to configure the ADS(Adobe document services) in your VA(Visual Admin).
2. Once ADS is configured we can utilize the UI element Interactiveform It has contain the Adobedesigner by using this we can design the PDF and binding with the model nodes.
3. Develop the Function module in the r/3 side and import into WD side and those are created as Model nodes and we canutilize in the 2 step.
4.When u run the application u can display the pdf with how u design ur PDF form.
This is generally doing the PDF by using PDF.
Or do u think any other way post ur issues.

PDF document not loading

I am trying to figure this issue out. I have an updated version 11 Internet Explorer that will not properly display Adobe PDF documents. I have included a screen shot to show what it looks like whenever I try to load a pdf doc.
I have tried to load the pdf locally (stored on the drive) and on the web. Both fail to display the pdf. I have re-installed Adobe Reader in an attempt to solve this issue. Still no luck.
Hopefully someone here can help me with this issue. Running Windows 7 Professional.

Attaching a PDF document to an order from Web

Hi,
We have a requirement to attached a PDF document to an order in SAP from a web front end (its a custom web application written in cold fusion). We currently create orders from this web application which talks to SAP via XI. I know that using the "Services For Object" option in SAP GUI we can upload external document. Is there a BAPI that can be used to send the document from WEB to be added as an attachment on the order?

ArchiveLink is a service integrated in the SAP Web Application Server for linking archived documents and the application documents entered in the SAP system.
Linking documents according to content guarantees long term easy access to the documents. From the screen of the application document, you can directly display the stored document that is associated with it. You can also use attributes to search for documents. This replaces time consuming processes such as making copies of originals, searching for procedure-related information, etc.
There would definitely be content repository which will be connected to SAP through archivelink. Pls confirm the same with Basis.

PDF's not importing correctly

I am using CS5 on iMac 27" quad.
I am trying to import a PDF into Photoshop.
But it is not importing correctly.
The PDF is a label template, which prints perfectly from the PDF.
But when I import it into Photoshop, the dimensions change.
So the text boxes for the labels don't align up correctly to the label sheet.
The top label is OK, but the boxes keep moving to the right, so that top label in column 5 is a 1/4" off to the right. The labels seem to be "traveling."
Vertically, the same thing is happening.
Row #1 is OK
but by the end of the page, Row #5 is 3/8" off the page.
I have disabled all printing options: no auto-center; no fit to page; no scaling.
The printer software should not be adapting the document at all.

Documents not printing correctly

We recently upgraded our marketing department from CS4 Design Standard to CS5.5 on to CS6 and now a printing problem has cropped up, starting in CS5.5.
When printing a document with a lot on it most of the graphics are missing. The only way to get the document to print correctly is to export to Acrobat and print from there. I thought it might be a post script driver issue so I updated it to latest one available, even trying the universal driver, but the issue still remained. I then tried the PCL driver, this seemed to fix the issue, everything prints but it doesn't print very well with boxes showing all around the images. Also using the PCL driver has caused issues with other unrelated software so I'd prefer to use the Post Script driver.
I have printed the problem documents from my computer using a different printer with no problems but I am in a different state so that doesn't help them much.
InDesign is version 8.0, the OS is Vista SP2 and the printer is a Ricoh Aficio MP C5000 using a PCL6 driver.
I can supply an example if that will help at all, any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated as it's driving our design team nuts.

I can print to a different printer, but still a Ricoh, from a different computer using the same file and same version of InDesign with no issues using the Ricoh universal PS driver. I may try the universal PS again in just in case.
I did manage to find some small print that said genuine Adobe Postscript 3;

I'll do some more testing from other PC's to the same printer as not everyone has reported similar issues, though I don't know if thats using InDesign specifically or other CS programs.
Your suggestion to print from a PDF isn't the first I've come across so if worse comes to worse that may be the way to go.

Screen is open in Black PDf Document & not in Windows Explorer

Firefox's built-in PDF viewer is not as full-featured as Adobe's viewer and does not always handle advanced PDF layouts correctly. If you haven't already, try switching your PDF viewer in Firefox using the steps in this article: [[How to disable the built-in PDF viewer and use another viewer]].
Also, to make sure your Adobe viewer is up-to-date, I suggest opening your stand-alone Adobe application (either Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader) and using its Help menu > Check for Updates. Keeping the software up to date will help protect you from attacks that use specially crafted PDF documents to break into your system.
