PDF form, Text hiding is working for only PO Print

Hi,
I  need to hide few text fields based on document type. Javascript is working fine , its hiding text and also not occupying space. But it is working only for PO Print out. The same code is not working for PO Acknowledgement , RFQ or Contract . I have put the code in Initialise and docready events.
Code as below :
if ( xfa.resolveNode("data.#pageSet[0].Page1.IV_DOCTYPE").rawValue == "F" )
this.SF2.presence = "hidden"
SF2 is a floawable subform with two text fields. This is working fine for ME23n , but it only makes invisible and doesnot remove space for ME9A(RFQ) or ME9K(Contract)
Any suggestion would be helpfull, thanks
Regards,
MB

That's a limitation of Apple's AirPrint framework that Adobe Reader depends on.  We are considering an alternate solution that may resolve this issue though.
Thanks for your feedback.

  • Form Personalization is not working for copied Sales Orders

    Hi All,
We have a requirement in Sales Order form, if the order type is "Standard" then Ship method field should be mandatory.
We were able to do this using below form personalization, it is working for new order creation.
When we did the below testing it is not working
Inactivated the ship method and try to copy the order with Standard type the field remains mandatory and null but still it is allowing to book the Sales Order.
Please help to sort out this issue, let me know if it is not clear
    Condition
    Trigger Event : WHEN-NEW-ITEM-INSTANCE
    Trigger Object: ORDER.SOLD_TO
    Condition:
    (:ORDER.ORDER_TYPE not like '%STANDARD%')
    Action
    Type : Property
    Object Type : Item
    Target Object : ORDER.SHIPPING_METHOD
    Property Name: REQUIRED
    Value: True
    Thanks,
    CSK

    Hi CSK,
try it in well validate item trigger.
If that order type is list then you may disable the field in WHEN LIST CHANGED  trigger itself.
    Hope it will work,

I have Adobe Creative Cloud.  How do I edit a PDF form I created at work and e-mailed to my home tablet?

    Hi Val,
I see! Please see this thread: Is FormsCentral part of the Creative Cloud?
Creative Cloud doesn't include FormsCentral, which is why you're being prompted to upgrade. (An Acrobat Pro subscription, on the other hand, does include FormsCentral.)

  • How do I set up a .pdf form to save filled data without having to print the form?

How do I set up a .pdf form to save filled data without having to print the form?  I have provided my clients a lifecycle .pdf form they can use to record data for unique client meetings.  They want the ability to save their completed data whenever they use the form under a unique file name.  I've told them the only way I know how to do this is to print the completed form as a .pdf document and then save it.
Is their a way to save the data to a unique file name without printing the filled form?
Is there a way to reset the form with blank fields after saving? or to add a clear fields button?
    Thanks.

If you reader extend  a pdf using livecycle reader extensions then you can save the filled in data - this is true if you are using Adobe reader to view the PDF's. If you open it in Acrobat then the functionality is already there.

  • PDF form text fields' options change when opened in READER on a MAC.

I created a PDF form using Adobe X PRO. All fields are UNCHECKED for Property/Options/ "scroll long text". I save and distribute the form as a "reader extended pdf/enable additional features" so it can be saved and returned using READER.
When a Mac user opens the extended form in Adobe READER, ALL the text fields change to scroll. When he returns the completed form to me, every text field, even signature and date fields, are changed to scroll text.
What is happening in the transition from PC to MAC?

Preview is the default PDF viewer on the Mac. It should never be used with PDF forms. Just let them know that they should use Adobe Reader. Provide a link or URL where it can be downloaded and let them know that it's free.
There are things you can do so that it doesn't work in Preview, but it involves some scripting. If interested in this approach, post again.

  • PDF forms and how they work with different Reader versions

I'll start this off by giving a little background information and describing a workflow scenario. I work as an InHouse designer for a company that keeps the majority of the employee population always a few versions behind. Fortunately, for us designers they keep us updated, but it doesn't always play nicely when you're saving your PDFs for older versions of Acrobat Reader.
What happens is that I create a form in InDesign, export a PDF, and then create my form fields in Acrobat Pro 9 on a Mac. After saving for version 9 I then take the PDF and test within the Windows environment which our IT is enforcing Acrobat Reader 7. The PDF opens ok and I can fill out the form, but I cannot save. I then open in Acrobat Pro 7 for Windows and then it gives the option to save or make modifications.
My questions really come down to whether or not Reader 7 is doing this because of how old the technology is, or if that would change if our IT would allow Acrobat Reader 8 or 9? Now I've looked at the Acrobat Pro 9 comparison chart and it states "Enable users of Adobe Reader®   (version 8 or later) to fill in and save PDF forms locally." Does this mean that we just need version 8 or 9 and then people can save the form? What in version 7 is causing us not to be able to save? Did that change the technology in some way? I'm trying to figure out if we get IT to upgrade users to Reader 9 if this will solve the issue or will they have to install Acrobat Standard/Pro 9 to save a PDF form?
What other selling points could we make to our IT department that using Reader 9 is a lot better than using Reader 7? Any technology benefits, security or functions?
    Thanks

    ~graffiti wrote:
No version of Reader can save a filled in form unless it has been enabled first.
To enable, open the file in Acrobat then go to Advanced>Enable usage rights in Adobe Reader...
And for my standard disclaimer, if you are going to use the forms in a corporate environment, be sure to study and understand the usage limits for enabled forms (the limit is 500 uses, but there are caveats to that) in the EULA. Mostly the enabled forms are meant for very small time users. If you do not meet that requirement, Adobe sells another product that can enable files for unlimited uses but it costs in the tens of thousands of dollars and is a server side solution.
    Hey Graffii,
I enabled the usage rights and that did help with saving in Reader 7. I am a little concerned about the limit of 500 uses. Let me try and understand you a little better. I have a PDF that has a couple form fields and you're saying that the PDF can only be opened 500 times? I've never heard of restrictions on PDFs before. Does this happen after you place just 1 form field? How do I find out more information? I looked in the EULA, but found nothing.
Also, what does Adobe mean here "Enable users of Adobe Reader®   (version 8 or later) to fill in and save PDF forms locally." Are they saying that you need Reader 8 or later to read a form or that you need Acrobat Pro 8 or later to enable the form feature?
It's all very confusing because one of the features they tout in version 9 is the ability to save forms locally, but once I enable the form I could save it with Reader 7. It's hard to tell if they are referring to Reader 9 or Acrobat Pro 9.
    Thanks

  • PDF Form Text Size

When I fill out a fill-able text box in a pdf form, the information for a number of boxes is longer than the space shown for the answer.  I am trying to find a way to adjust the text size with no luck, too.
How can I make sure the text provided in each text box will show when I save / print the fill-able form?

Only the creator of that form can do that.

  • Create and populate pdf forms from a xml file for follow up information

Forgive my amateurishness, I have a simple .xml that was created with excel with name, address, date of service, age, dob, account #, unit, and business name.  I need a form to be pre-populated with the .xml data but have other fields (mainly Yes/No check boxes) that need to be populated by other users.  This users would then finish filling out the form and return it to me via email.  I have created the form in LC Designer ES2 and created it with Acrobat Pro X.  However when I attempt to import data I can only see the first .xml record.  So my question is, how do I create multiple .pdf forms for each .xml record?  Do I need to use Java within LC Designer?  Or use Adobe Pro?  I am not afraid to attempt to code, (I have many excel programs that batch print to .pdf using vb).
    Thank you in advance

  • Creating spaces in PDF form- text is too close together

Thank you in advance for all of your tips.
I am a novice to Adobe PDF form creator and I need some assistance. I am creating the forms and I have all my boxes set, but the issue is that I can not find where to space the text boxes from the top line to the bottom. (As we would do with the enter/return key) I have the full letter page to fill but when I print the form it's on a 1/4 of a page and I need all the text to fill the whole page. I don't necessary want to enlarge the boxes to fill the space.
Where can I create extra spacing between each top and bottom lines?
    Michelle

Only the creator of that form can do that.

  • :*(  Form buttons don't work for all testers

I created a form in Acrobat 9.1 using Forms> Add or Edit Fields. The form contains action buttons for next page and previous page, to clear all fields, and (with the generous help of a fellow forum member) to print the form and save it to disk. I optimized the form with compatibility set to Acrobat 8.0 and later, then enabled it for Reader. I sent this form to several users for testing.
Those using Acrobat have no problems with it.
Those using Foxit Reader have no problems with the action buttons or the form fields (except that date fields are finicky; Foxit doesn't convert the dates to the correct format the way Reader or Acrobat do). But, the yellow background that I created as a watermark -- so I could make it visible but not print -- is printing. That's not anything that Acrobat can help, but it is a very good reason to not recommend using Foxit. It would create a dreadful shortage of yellow inkjet ink.
Those using Reader 8.0 to 8.1.2 are having several problems. For them, the action buttons don't work... except the "clear all fields" one. The buttons don't do anything; there are no errors, no messages, no activity of any kind except to change color when clicked.
The buttons that don't work are all set up as Mouse Up actions executing a menu item... for example, "Go to page 2" is just View>Go To>Next Page. The "Clear all fields" button is, on Mouse Up, "Reset a form" with all fields selected... so it's the only kind of button that works for Reader users, and it's the only button that doesn't execute a menu item.
Why is there a difference in actions these users can run? If it's a security issue... what possible risk is there in going to the next page, using a button instead of a scroll bar or Page Down key??? I can find no common sense here, especially because Reader users are the only ones barred from these form actions. Everyone else can use them.
-- Also, these testers (Reader 8+) are having problems with the tab order. Some of the radio button groups (which have no more than three options, Yes, No and NA) at first appear to be tabbing correctly, because the Yes option receives focus in the correct order... but randomly, tabbing through several fields, suddenly the No option will get focus... in a radio button group nowhere near the current tab location. Tabbing is rendered useless, then, because these anomalies are unpredictable and it doesn't appear there's anything I can do to prevent this from happening.
It's pointless to delete and re-add the afflicted radio buttons. That has no effect... and the radio button groups are already in the correct order anyway. I don't know how this could possibly happen... But it doesn't happen for the Foxit or Acrobat testers.
    • Why would Reader be the only app that can't use the buttons and can't tab through the fields correctly? I'd think Adobe's own software would work best with their own file format. •
Is Reader 8 the problem --- should those users all update to the newest version? I don't have any Reader 9+ testers yet. Nobody seems interested in it. The testers all assume the problems are MY fault, so nobody's happy with me and no one wants to bother testing the forms because there's always something wrong.
<hair-pulling> I seriously regret upgrading to Acrobat 9.1.  I know other forum members who agree this thing is catastrophically buggy -- I've wasted  weeks trying to iron out all the problems I've been having with these forms, forms that should have been quick and simple to create, and in past versions of Acrobat, would have been. Yet I'm still tearing out my hair over tab order! Worse, I fear I'm close to losing my job for all the time wasted and all the projects I've fallen behind in because of this. <no /hair-pulling in sight>

I have no clue, but it might make a difference depending on the form being produced in Acrobat versus Designer. Acrobat will take you both places and one of them may have an issue with backward compatibility. I have not heard of that, but it is a possibility.

  • PDF Forms in Preview Not working

Using Lion and Preview to modify an existing PDF Form from my company and found that when I fill in a text field with mulitple lines it looks correct until I click to the next field.  At that moment all of the multiple lines compress onto each other into what looks like a jumble of characters.  When I print the filled out form it looks the same.  If I go back into the text field to edit the lines look normal, and again if I click out of the field it compresses the text again.  I tried downloading Adobe Acrobat Reader and it worked fine.  It appears to be a problem with lion's preview feature.
    Entering Text:
    Selecting Next Field:
    Any Suggestions.

I have the same problem where preview squishes the lines together.  It seems it is on 1/2 spacing instead of 1 line spacing.  To correct this I have to double space to get it to look single space.  I created the fillable form in Acrobat X as multiline.
This first screenshot is text typed into the fillable form.
This is the result when I click out of the form - it returns squished.
I add returns and make the form entry double space.
Now the result with double spacing in the filliable space makes it single space.
    Very annoying!
