Pending update in mac appstore???

Hallo,
There is constantly a pending update in app store of an app that is not installed (never has been, don't even know what it is) on my macbook. The forementioned app is: Nyan cat- lost in space. What should I do to remove the indication?

First of all I want to thank you for your willingness to help me.
Regarding your question, I must admit that I don't remember exactly when this annoying indication appeared. Also I am fairly new to MacOS so I constantly keep adding and removing apps on my mac untlill I find the ones that suit me best. Some apps are downloaded from MAS some from other sources. However I did some research on the forum I found a similar problem (https://discussions.apple.com/message/19810171#19810171) and I believe that this is the source of my problem.

Just attempted to run the update and still rec'd the same message. I also see that there are many others who are havig the exact same problem. How can I get Apple support to look at it?

  • My Air won't do anything, I can't move the mouse and the keys won't respond. It came after an OS update from the Mac Appstore. HELP!

After an OS update, from the Mac Appstore my Air won't do anything.
I updated OSX from the appstore, and I restarted my laptop. Now I'm in the choose profile screen and nothing happends. At all. I can't move the mouse, the keys aren't responding etc.

You should also ask this in the MacBook Air forum. This is the forum for the white and black plastic MacBooks that were discontinued in 2010. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.

  • Mac AppStore App Update

My Mac AppStore told me that I have an update for the Twitter app. When I try to update it brings up the sign in prompt but the Apple ID that preloads is an email address that I have never seen before. When I put in my credentials and hit install it brings up another prompt that says "Unkown Error". Then another prompt comes up the says "We could not complete your request. There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (4)"
I thought if I uninstalled and re-installed it that might do it but it turns out that I don't even have it installed to begin with. So I tried to install it without updating and I get the same problems.
Does anyone have any idea what's wrong here?

Hey I think I found the solution or at least for me. Check out this website
    http://www.ngpixel.com/2011/06/25/mac-app-store-you-have-updates-available-for-t he-other-accounts-bug/
At first I followed the instructions but it didn't work. But when i scrolled down I found Renso''s post, and fortunaetly it did work for me. Hope it will solve yours too!

  • Update iLife '11 via Mac AppStore

I bought a new MacBook Pro from the Apple Retail Store (late 2011 MBP '13) and i signed in with my Apple ID. Now the Mac AppStore shows up with an Update for iPhoto '11 and when I want to install, it says: "Please login with the App ID you used to buy iLife '11. But I only got 1 Apple ID and my iCloud ID. I tried both, nothing happens. Do I have to do something special or resetting permissions or so..?!

    Congratulations!
Everything is great---except when alerted to updates for iMovie and/or iPhoto I'm instructed: "To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it".
NO need to re-purchase. Launch the App Store from the Applications folder or dock icon. Follow as the alert instructed, i.e., sign in with your Apple ID and password. Click on the Updates icon (near the top of the App Store window). The Updates window will list iPhoto and iMovie. Click the UPDATE button for each.
Note: This is based on my experience with having iLife 11 on disk prior to getting a new MBP last July.)
    Hope this helps.

  • Mac Appstore can't find new updates

    Hello,
when there are updates from Apple available, the Mac Appstore on my Macs (iMac, MacBook Pro) can't find them, unless I switch to an admin-account.
Is this behaviour normal? Before Mountain Lion, I could update my Apps from any account.
    Greetings
    Joerg

    Thank you.
But the problem is: Mac Appstore won't even show me that there are updates available, if I'm not running the admin-account. If I didn't read Apple News sites, I wouldn't know and these updates would never be installed, because I usually don't use my admin-account.
Before Mountain Lion, Mac Appstore would show the updates and ask for my admin-password if I tried to install them.
So I guess there is something wrong with Mac Appstore on my system.
    Greetings
    Joerg

  • Updated my mac to mountain lion 10.8.3 and now my app store, mail or facetime won't open. Also, I am not longer able to play videos through firefox. I tried downloading the combo for mountain lion and it refuses to install? Can anyone help me?

updated my mac to mountain lion 10.7.8.3 and now my app store, mail or facetime won't open. Also, I am not longer able to play videos through firefox. I tried downloading the combo for mountain lion and it refuses to install saying that I need to see developer. Whenever I try to open my appstore, mail or facetime it says that the programmes need to be installed and might not be compatible with this version of mac operating system. Can anyone help me?

It's not a bad install of Mountain Lion. I've had the same thing happen to me, but it affected not only Mail, but a variety of other programs including iPhoto and MS Office, where I had to delete preferences, caches, and reinstall the OS as well as the program itself. I'm still having issues with Mail, so I've gone to another program.
Everything was fine upon the initial install. I restarted my iMac about two weeks after the install, and that's when the issues began to happen. I've reinstalled Mountain Lion twice, but the same issues arise.
As I mentioned above, you'll need to figure out which preferences are causing the issue, then reinstall the program, as a fresh reinstallation will do you no good unless you wipe the drive completely.
Here's a thread that helped me with iPhoto:

Slow performance after installing Yosemite on an older Mac is often caused by inadequate memory. Although you can install the upgrade on a Mac with 2 GB of memory, experience has shown that at least 4 GB is needed for full performance.
Select About This Mac from the Apple menu. If you have less than 4 GB of memory, and your model has upgradable memory, install as much as it can take, or at least that much. Any reputable RAM vendor will have a web form in which you can select the Mac model and be directed to compatible parts.
Memory in the MacBook Air is not upgradable. If that's what you have, you should restore the previous system from a backup, or replace the machine. Ask if you need guidance.
The Etrecheck report clearly shows that SylvieRose has a Macbook Pro, not a Macbook Air and that there are only 2 GB  RAM installed.  The Etrecheck report can be very informative if one takes the time to examine it.
    Ciao.

  • Mac AppStore won't even start today!

I was a happy user of mac appstore. I did not use it often, but from time to time. May be once a week.
If I click the icon to start it, it bounces for a while, and then stop bouncing. That's all it does. See the video below.
    http://screencast.com/t/X2owFG3660Q
Is there a solution for this?
Can anyone explain why this is happening?

    Hi,
Quit the Mac App Store if it's open. From the menu bar App Store / Quit App Store. Or Command + Q on your keyboard.
Launch iTunes then from the iTunes menu bar click iTunes / Preferences then select the Advanced tab.

Click: Reset warnings and Reset cache.

Now from the iTunes menu bar click Store / Sign Out.

    Try the Mac App Store.

If you still have problems, follow the paths here.

~ (Tilde) represents your Home folder.
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/Cache.db. Move the Cache.db file to the Trash.

~/Library/Preferences. Move the com.apple.appstore.plist and com.apple.storeagent.plist files to the Trash.

~/Library/Cookies. Move the com.apple.appstore.plist and Cookies.plist files to the Trash.

Restart your Mac. Try the MAS.
If nothing has helped reinstall the MAS by downloading and installing the v10.6.6 combo update available here.

  • Everytime I open the Mac AppStore it says..

Everytime I open the Mac AppStore it says "Unable to find and connect to agent." I can't sign in with my apple ID or download any apps. How do I fix this?

You might want to try this update which is specifically for 2011 iMacs (I'm assuming that is what you have):
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1383
I noticed that there is a notation about fixing bugs in the app store; I would guess that your error message has to do with the background service Storeagent which scans your hard drive for apps to offer you updates and/or other software.
If that doesn't work, I'd suggest calling Apple - take advantage of your warranty.

  • Mac AppStore crashing when Flickr opened in Safari...

    Hi;
I had a strange problem today. Some updates emerged in AppStore so I decided to switch to AppStore and update them. Nothing serious. When I clicked update AppStore srashed with JavaScript error causing memory problems. I restarted AppStore several times but no help. Then I closed Safari with Flickr page opened and try to update it went fine. I think that both of them use same engine. Flickr is using Javascript a lot I think so it can be connected. I will try to reproduce problem when another update will be available or when I will install new application. So far it seems problem can be fixed by closing Safari and Flickr page. Anybody experienced something like constantly crashing application store without apparent reason?
    Marian

I did crash again hard way. Safari stop responding first and then I had been logged off. When I log in back again system (desktop) came back up again till Safari was opened. Then it stoped responding and as AppStore came up it crashed immediately. I was not able to access dock and switch applications. I used Command-Space combination to bring up spotlight and run Monitor. I killed Safari which was not responsive but I was not able to make Dock working. Something went really bad this time. I decided to reboot after that everything started to work fine. Crash report follows:

  • Apps Showing Pending Update in App Store But Can't Upload

I Have several apps that are no longer showing after the recent OS update.   They have been showing Pending Update for a month or so.   I cannot update them because there is no update option.   I can no longer use the apps because they disappeared although they still show in Settings On my IPAD Air.

    Hi Scross0613,
Not sure why those apps are no longer on your iPhone, or why there's no update button.
Have you tried downloading them from the Purchased area or from a computer with iTunes?

  • Suspicious Message at Mac Appstore or what...

Today I entered Mac Appstore and it showed me that I have an update of the Angry Birds. Problem..
         1. I haven't bought Angry Birds for Mac ever.
         2. Just from curiosity I pushed the "update" button and then a message like the picture that I have attached in my message showed up. I'm not the guy from Rumania and I don't know who [email protected] is.
Can you tell me if you understand something or can you explain this picture?
I restarted my iMac and the icon on my dock still showes 1 update, but when I entered everything was corrected and when I pushed "updates" I saw that all my apps are up to date.
Any help? Is there an answer?
    Thank you in advance,
    Kostas
PS. I have a problem of uploading the image but the message was : "Sign in to [email protected] to update applications for that account"
I can sent you the picture by email in case it's needed

The problem is that app that you recently downloaded for free somewhere, instead of buying it from the MAS! That is a pirated app that has been cracked with the MAS receipt for Angry Birds acquired from the listed person's Apple ID MAS account. MAS apps are wrapped in DRM and contain a receipt from the MAS that are encoded with the user's Apple ID. The MAS app on your Mac is reading this receipt in this pirated app and alerting you to an update for Angry Birds because the MAS thinks the receipt is in AB and not a pirated app.
Get rid of your pirated app and you get rid of the problem.

  • Mac Appstore login does'nt work

    Hy,
I own a 13" Macbook Pro Retina with Mountain Lion.
First, I'm Stuck on 10.8.1 because the 10.8.2 update isn't available anymore!
(theres a special one for the Retina, the normal one doesn't work)
    So,
my iTunes account an iCloud account work with no problems.
I'm trying to connect with the same account to the Mac Appstore,
    but it doesn't work.
It tells me: Ein unbekannter Fehler ist aufgetreten. (An unknown error occured)
I created a second user account on my Mac, (saw somewhere to test that)
with the new account I'm able to connect to the Mac App Store.
I also already copied some files from the new account to the main account but without success.
Can anyone help me out or has someone other suggestions?

    Finally found the sollution.
Quit AppStore, enter Terminal an paste the following:
    rm -r ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore
    rm -r ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.storeagent
    rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.appstore.plist
    rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.storeagent.plist
    rm ~/Library/Cookies/com.apple.appstore.plist
    rm -rf ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.appstore.plist
    rm -rf ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.storeagent.plist
    rm -rf ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/*

  • Brand new iMac, Aperture installed from Mac AppStore crashes on startup

I installed Aperture 3.0 from the Mac AppStore yesterday, but it crashes immediately on running, with this message:
    Dyld Error Message:
    Library not loaded: /Library/Frameworks/PluginManager.framework/Versions/B/PluginManager
    Referenced from: /Applications/Aperture.app/Contents/MacOS/Aperture
Reason: no suitable image found. Did find:
/Library/Frameworks/PluginManager.framework/Versions/B/PluginManager: no matching architecture in universal wrapper
I bought my iMac a few days ago. There's a few apps installed, including Final Cut Express 4.0 - installed from CD - which given all the other threads I've read with the same crashing message, may make a difference.
I used the Aperture troubleshooting basics (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3805) - let me explain each step.
    - I just bought my iMac, brand new last weekend, if it doesn't meet system requirements I'll eat my hat
    - It wasn't the first thing I tried, but I have since run a "Software Update" which included updates for both Final Cut Express and Aperture... after they installed, I rebooted and Aperture still crashes on startup with the same message
    - The Aperture first-aid-tools are irrelevant I'm afraid. If I didn't know any better, I'd say they didn't work at all - as holding Option/Command while starting Aperture makes no difference... but I suspect the crash happens before the tools get a chance to run
    - Time Machine backups would also be irrelevant since this is a fresh install (what does "Restore the Library" mean anyway - what library?)
    - Restoring Aperture back to its original settings is irrelevant since I haven't changed any
    - I tried reinstalling Aperture, exactly as described. I deleted Aperture from Applications, went to the Mac AppStore and redownloaded it; rebooted; it still crashes in the same way
Here's more of the message below... and yes, as you can see, I've tried more than 50 times ;-(
If I have to reinstall the OS, I might just as well get a refund. I'd love to solve this, but I seriously hope reinstalling the OS is not required.
I just spent 3 days solving an issue where I couldn't download any apps from the AppStore at all, so please let me sell an iMac to my mother without explaining how long it takes to download 1 app and get it running on a brand new machine !

I believe the second half of the solution addresses what you are experiencing. You don't have to re-install the OS, just try the 10.6.6 combo update:
