People/Group column in Datasheet View with ADFS Authentication.

Greetings,
We use ADFS & NTLM Authentication on our web application, but NTLM is only used to allow search to crawl the farm.  So all users login and use their ADFS account when accessing the farm.  When users are editing a list in Quick Edit/Datasheet
view when they try to edit a People/Group column they get "The user does not exist or is not unique." unless they enter in the full claim. e.g. "i:e0.t|adfs|[email protected]".  The user will then resolve properly.
Has anyone else run across this or know how to solve this problem?

  • Ability to query on all columns from a view with multiple tables

    I have view with 4 tables. view has about 50 columns.
    hypothetically, I want to build a form to give the user an ability to query on any of those 50 columns. user can search on one or more fields.
    what is the best way to write the query to retrieve the results without performance impact.
    please let me know if the question is not clear.

    If you want to permit them to query any of 10 fields with no restrictions, you could create 10 separate single-column indexes. The optimizer would have to try to pick the best of these indexes if you specified multiple search criteria. But since you have a view which presumably means that you've got multiple other indexes involved for the underlying join conditions, you'd probably want/need to combine the column lists of the indexes you're adding for searches with the indexes you've created for joins, which requires looking at the text of the view and figuring out the best way to optimize the 10 single-column searches. Of course, it is possible that the optimizer could chose to do something like a b-tree to bitmap conversion on multiple indexes which could allow it to use multiple independent indexes for your queries, but that's generally not ideal performance-wise.
    All this is a fancy way of saying that there probably isn't a cut and dried answer to your question. You need to figure out the queries you're trying to optimize (say, the 10 single-condition queries) and you need to figure out what set of indexes on the various underlying tables provides the best performance weighing those benefits against the cost on other side of maintenance during DML. Which is going to depend on the text of the view, the underlying tables, the existing indexes, etc.

  • Updatable View with ADF ExecuteWithParams

    Ok, I have spent some time and effort, done searches around the forums but I can't find what I'm looking for; it's time to post here.
    I'm following the "Build an End-to-End Web Application with ADF Business Components and JavaServer Faces" tutorial. I run the search page on that tutorial, setting -Djbo.debugoutput=console flag in the run/debug Launch Settings sections so that I can see more into what the application is doing. When you change the bind variables, the application/form's listener is firing an action to bind the variables again and rerun the sql query that's defined in the SearchOrders ViewObject.
    I decided to write an app from scratch to apply the concepts that I learned through the tutorial. I create a search form, basically following the same steps from the tutorial. My form gets an initial recordset based on the view query, but changing any of the bind variables values will NOT cause the app to rerun the query; filtering is done on the available records.
    I've looked and looked, but I can't find where do I make my Search form rerun the sql query after the new form bind variables have been bound.
    Please help! Thx!

    More on this issue. I created a very simple schema (master and detail table with only two fields on each table; the key and description, and a foreign key field on the detail table with a referential integrity constraint set in Oracle). The I created a mini-application following the same steps (as far as I know) as on my previous application that is having problems.
    Now the master/detail search form works as expected. Is there a bug or patch/update I should be looking to apply to JDev or OC4J? I'll need to step away from the problem because I can't see the solution.

    I have a requirement in which DataSheet view is used to bulk edit or input list items and handle validations while in the process.
    We have validations done in event recievers before creating the list item. But could not provide a pop up or message with summary of all validation errors. these are buiness custom validations.
    Is there a way to custom error handle datasheet view? Is there a way to invoke a UI in context from event recievers?

  • Creating a calendar view with ADF

    Hi,
    I am new to ADF and was wondering what would be the best way to create a page that has a calendar view where each of the dates can be expanded to contain further details. Its this something that can be constructed out of the default JSF or would I have to consider custom JSP pages?

  • Can you make some columns Read/Display Only in DataSheet view?

    I noticed on another posting what appears to be a datasheet view with 3 of the columns in a display mode. Can someone confirm if this is possible?

    This always happens on the column type Multiple Lines of Text .
    And certain columns, such as Created By and Modified, are always read-only. Values for these columns are entered automatically.
    When you open the list in datasheet, click on one the column, if it’s read only, you will see read only in right bottom corner.

  • Issues with the Custom Filter in Datasheet View

    I'm seeing some odd, yet intermittent, behavior while trying to filter columns in datasheet view using a custom filter. After clicking to apply a filter to a column and choosing 'Custom Filter...' a pop-up with regular expressions should appear much like
    the following screenshot:
    However sometimes, usually on a page refresh, this pops up instead:
    I have been able to replicate this sporadically in both IE 8 and 9 against different columns but it's really inconsistent. I can't seem to find any configuration issues or commonality across the clients that might be responsible. Local installations of Office
    are 32bit. I know 64bit has been known to cause some issues. I wanted to see if anyone else has run into this issue at all or perhaps it has been addressed in a more recent CU than what I am running (14.0.6117.5002). Any insight would be much appreciated,

    Hello all
    We get this as well on one computer in the office. It seems to be more of an MS Office issue than a Sharepoint issue specifically the "Microsoft Office List 14.0" ActiveX add in.
    On one computer that has Office 2010, when "Edit in Datasheet" is clicked within a Sharepoint list the MS office list 14 ActiveX is called and the custom filter options appear with the missing combo boxes like in the picture at the top. I've found this is
    reproducible by simply doing:
    1.  Visit a Sharepoint list
    2. Actions > Edit in Datasheet
    (If you click one of the drop downs at this point and choose Custom filter it will open as expected)
    3. Actions > Show in standard view
    4. Actions > Edit in Datasheet
    5. Click one of the drop downs, choose Custom filter and the problem will occur
    The only way to make the option reappear is to close down IE and reopen it. You'll then get one more go with point 1 and 2 above before the problem will reoccur again after changing the view using Actions.
    Anyone using Office 2007 doesn't seem to have this problem however this uses a different version of the control namely "Microsoft Office List 12.0"
    Uninstalling Office 2010 and reinstalling it seems to fix it for a bit but the problem will soon come back. Strangely it won't come back straight away but when it does its easy to reproduce following the above steps.
    Testing this on another computer that just happens to have Office 2010 and Sharepoint Designer 2007 installed the problem does not occur however when the ActiveX is called for the Sharepoint list it just happens to invoke the Office List 12 version despite
    the fact both versions are available on the machine.
    This probably happens because Sharepoint Designer was installed after Office 2010 was installed on the machine so has updated the registry to call the older version which seems to be problem free.

    Microsoft Office List 12.0 = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\STSLIST.DLL
    Microsoft Office List 14.0 = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\STSLIST.DLL

    (KB2760804) - 9th April 2013 and is the newest I could find at the time.
    Edit as I'm typing this: Just found http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2817403 which is dated 11th June 2013 but doesn't mention any fix for this problem.
    I've tried installing the Sharepoint services support components using the Sharepoint Designer installer package as below:
    This includes the STSLIST.dll version 12.0 and updates the registry accordingly so that this component is referenced and does seem to fix the problem.
    Unfortunately for me, when I checked back later the browser had reverted back to using the 14.0 component for reason I can't explain. Perhaps a Windows update came through and "adjusted" the registry settings to use the newer version. Unfortunately any attempt
    at deleting the 14.0 file simply recreates it when "Edit in Datasheet" is choosen.
    It would be great to get a proper fix for this instead of having to try and force the computer to use the older component!

  • How to create ADF BC components like EO from  "View with INSTEAD OF trigger

    I have a "View with INSTEAD OF trigger" on a external schema. is it possible to create ADF EO on top of this view in my local schema?. If possible, then is it possible to insert/update that external table using ADF standard data controls and Application module?. I'm trying to see if it's possible with standard ADF controls without calling pl/sql API to insert/update that external table. any ideas are appreciated.

  • Q : Using column level VPD policies with Oracle Jdeveloper ADF BC ?

    For one of our big customer, we already successfully developped a new java application using Oracle Jdeveloper with ADF, ADF BC and the Virtual Private Database (VPD) with row level policies.
    Our customer has new business requirements that could be fullfilled using column level VPD policies.
    Has someone already successfully (or not) developped a business application using column level VPD policies with ADF, ADF BC on Oracle 10g R2 database and OracleAS 10g (10.1.2) ?
    Is it supported by Oracle ? what are the pitfalls, difficulties, problems you've met ?
    Is it a viable solution and if not, why ?

    my 2 cent:
    if you know how to get the info from the db during run time you should be able to overwrite the frameworks message bundle look to get the description from the db instead of from the resource bundle.
    Or you load all descriptions from the db into a resource bundle and use the keys in the tooltip directly.

  • [Solved] How to update records in entity based on view with distinct

    - I have a relational view of the form:
    SELECT DISTINCT
    FROM TAB1, TAB2, ...- I created instead of triggers for delete, update and insert.
    - I created an entity object on this and an updatable view object
    - I added this to my module.
    - Then I test the view object in the module (module > test), and if I try to update an existing record, I receive the error:
    (java.sql.SQLException) ORA-02014: cannot select FOR UPDATE from view with DISTINCT, GROUP BY, etc.
    So, ADF internally create as select FOR UPDATE cursor to update the modified record and as the error shows, this is not possible on a view with distinct, ...
    Is there a way to work around this error without to rewrite the view?
    I was thinking that there is maybe a way to force ADF not to use the select FOR UPDATE and use UPDATE .. SET <value> WHERE <pk>, or maybe to create a new instead of trigger to catch the select FOR UPDATE?

    As a trigger is executed in the db and not in your app it's really hard to help as you did not give any useful information.

  • Validation on People Group Key Flexfield

    Hi all,
    I have a People Group Key flexfield (KFF) defined with 7 Segments, and I want to make 1 of the Segments (SEGMENT7) Read-Only for a specific set of Responsibilities.
    I have tried creating a Form Personalization for this, but I don't believe you can achieve this using forms personalizations (because you can only reference the entire flexfield as a whole, and not individual segments).
    I have also tried using the Custom Library, and referencing FND_KEY_FLEX.UPDATE_DEFINITION to apply this validation, but I have not been able to get this to work either.
    Finally, I have tried creating a security group and attaching it to the Value Set / KFF Segment but this doesn't quite give me what I need, as this only lets you Include/Exclude specific values and not make the segment Read-Only.
    Does anyone know how to apply this validation to a People Group KFF Segment?

    If nothing else works , you can write a before-update d/b trigger on the underlying table that compares :old.segment7 with :new.segment7 and raises failure if the values differ for the user's logged in responsibility.

  • How to get ADF authentication and authorization working on server

    I am having an issue with deployment & ADF authentication and authorization.
    From the below testing results, you can see that I am unable to log in when I have deployed my app to my standalone server with both ADF security authentication and authorization turned on. I have included web.xml, jazn-data.xml and the page/server error I am receiving.
    When making an attempt to log in I get the following results:
    Running Locally with ADF Authentication:                                           Works Fine
    Running Locally with ADF Authentication & Authorization:         Works Fine
    Deployed to server with ADF Authentication:                                    Works Fine
    Deployed to server with ADF Authentication & Authorization:  Doesn’t Work
    What I have already tried: Removed all anonymous grants, using the same database credentials as the app user, deploying app twice (on the redeploy not including the login credentials & app policies at the application properties). Various modifications to web.xml e.g. welcomefilelist etc

    Then you have to check if the user use use to login are defined in the stand alone server. If you server is running in production mode there is no automatic user or role migration. You have to to this by yourself.
    Once you have check that the users are present, you have to check if the enterprise roles are mapped to the corresponding application roles.

  • SharePoint 2013 - Choice Column with Fill-In enabled Not Editable in Datasheet View

    I have a custom list with a choice column (check boxes) set to allow for fill-ins.  Before it was migrated to 2013, I had a datasheet view and was able to edit the choice field by selecting one of the choices and/or add my own fill-in. 
    Now in 2013 that field is greyed out in datasheet view.  However, all the other choice columns which are NOT set to allow for fill-ins are editable.  I get all the choices with no problems.   The problem seems to be with the choice
    fields that is allowing for fill-ins.  Why won't this work in datasheet view?

    Hi Jenkins,
    It is a by design behavior that the filled-in value doesn’t show up in the list view filter options.
    As a workaround, you can create an extra Single Line of Text column which saves the duplicated value of that Choice column, then filter the text column instead.
    About how to copy value of a Choice column to a text column, you can set up a SharePoint Designer workflow to do the copy job and update the item.
