Personal oracle7 release 7.3.4
every time i try to install, it stops responding in the middle of installation? is there a patch? or what could be the problem
The installer might not be year 2000 compliant. Download a newer version or set your system date back into 1999 ;-)

Get Person who released PO before saved
Hi Experts!!
We are implementing POST method of BADI ME_PROCESS_PO_CUST. From ME29N when the release happens, and when saved, this badi will be called and I can get the current data like the release status and so on through GET_DATA of IM_HEADER (which is an interface). But I want to get the person who released this. I cannot get this info from CDHDR or CDPOS, as the release is not yet saved but the control is in BADI.
Can somebody help me if there is any way to get the person who released the PO? Is there any FM or BAPI for this?
Your help is highly appreciable.Since the PO is already existing in database by the time someone releases it in ME29N, you can compare the release status (frgke) from the PO with that of EKKO. If it is blank in EKKO and non blank in the PO that is being posted, you know the user in SY-UNAME is the user who is releasing the PO.
Like in the below code that you can put in ME_PROCESS_PO_CUST~POST method
DATA: ls_header TYPE mepoheader,
lv_frgke TYPE ekko-frgke.
ls_header = im_header->get_data( ).
SELECT SINGLE frgke INTO lv_frgke FROM ekko WHERE ebeln = ls_header-ebeln.
IF sy-subrc = 0.
IF lv_frgke IS INITIAL AND ls_header-frgke IS NOT INITIAL.
"SY-UNAME is the user who released the PO

(V7.3) PARTITION VIEWS IN ORACLE7 RELEASE 7.3
제품 : ORACLE SERVER
작성날짜 : 2002-05-17
PURPOSE
Introduction
Partition views are a new feature in Release 7.3 design to provide
better support for very large tables that are commonly found in data
warehousing environments.
The partition view feature offers two primary benefits:
- improved managability and availability of large tables
- improved performance for table scans on certain queries of
these large tables
Explanation & Example
What is a partion view?
An example partition view is:
create view sales as
select * from jan_sales
union all
select * from feb_sales
union all
select * from dec_sales
Each of the base tables (the monthly sales tables) must be identical
in terms of column names, column datatypes, and indexes. These tables
must also have a CHECK constraint on its partitioning column (thus,
the jan_sales table must have a check constraint on the date column
which constrains the date to fall between Jan 1 and Jan 31).
All of these base tables, indexes, constraints as well as the
UNION-ALL view definition are be created by the DBA.
Managability and availability benefits
A partition view greatly simplifies the administration of very large
tables.
Consider the example of of a data warehousing containing a large
'sales' table. Once per month, the DBA loads all of new sales data
into this table. Thus, the DBA would need to drop all of the indexes
on the sales, load the new data, and rebuild the indexes. Since the
sales table is very large, this could be a lengthy operation.
Morever, the sales table is (for most practical DSS application) is
not available while these load and index operations are occuring.
Using the partition view feature, the DBA could load the new month's
data into a separate partition and build indexes on this new partition
without impacting the original partition view. Then, after the new
partition is entirely built and indexed, the DBA could recreate the
UNION-ALL view to include the new partition. The sales partition view
is unavailable for a very short length of time ... only while the
UNION-ALL view is being built. Moreover, because the indexes are much
smaller, the length of time to load and index a new month's worth of
data is dramatically decreased.
Performance benefits of partition views
Any UNION-ALL view (even in earlier releases of Oracle7) can reap the
aforementioned managability benefits; however, unless the UNION-ALL
view offers reasonable query performance, the managability benefits
are useless.
The enhancement in Release 7.3 is to insure that the query performance
on UNION-ALL views will at least equivalent to (and, in many cases,
much better than) single-table access. Note that these performance
enhancements are only effective when all of the partitions have the
appropriate CHECK constraints and when all of the partitions have
identical column definitions and indexes.
There are two basic performance enhancements for partition views:
partition elimination
parallel execution of UNION-ALL views
Certain queries may not require data from all of the partitions of a
view partition. For example, consider the following query:
select sum(revenues) from sales
where sales_date between '15-JAN-96' and '15-FEB-96';
With 7.3's new support for partition views, Oracle will evaluate the
above query using only the January partition and the February
partition; the remaining ten partitions will not be accessed. This
feature is commonly called 'partition elimination'.
Partition elimination is only effective when querying based on the
partitioning column; in this example, the partitioning column is the
sales_date column. But the performance savings can be significant. In
the previous example, the partition view feature results in ten of the
twelve partitions being eliminated from query processing. This could
represent six-fold performance gain.
An additional enhancement in 7.3 is the parallel execution of
UNION-ALL views. All queries on UNION-ALL views can be executed in
parallel (when using the Parallel Query Option). It is very
important to note that the partitioning scheme is absolutely
independent of the degree of parallelism (this starkly contrasts with
many of our competitior's parallel query architecture, in which the
physical data partitioning determines the degree of parallelism).
Oracle will dynamically distribute the data of a UNION ALL view across
all parallel query processes, and partition elimintation will not
impact the degree of parallelism.
Limitations of Partition Views
Partition views do not support DML operations. For this reason,
partition views are most appropriate for read-only applications (such
as data warehouses).
Conclusion
Partition views can be very effective for handling very large tables
in data warehousing environments. The managability of these large
tables is vastly improved, with significant performance improvements
for many queries.

The following query is working on Oracle 8.1.5.1 (result 1 record), but not on Oracle 9.2.0.6 (result 0 record).
We don't have the source to this application, and we then have to solve it on the Oracle side - it looks like an Oracle change/bug ?
I've turned on Oracle tracing to trace the actual sql and also running explain seeing no difference.

Oracle 8.1.5 Memory bug!?!
Hi !
I have a serious problem concerning the use of Oracle as db for upcoming projects.
Current situation:
- Platform: Windows NT 4.0 server
- DB: Oracle 8.1.5
- JDBC: 1.1 which comes with the Oracle 8.1.5
Problem:
- I have developed an ServletBased web-app. which has the capability to upload images (blob) and text into the db and then to stream out the images and write the text from there into a Servlet generated webpage.
After running the app. for about 10 minutes the virtual memory usage suddenly starts rising about 2-10 megs./second.
I have optimized my code and closed every resultset, statement, connection, input&outputstream, etc.
I would say that the application is fairly optimized by now but this crash still happens.
Could someone please confirm that this is actually a known problem with the Oracle db?
I have seen many messages concerning the same problem but so far have seen no good explanations.
If there is no hope for a solution I have to change the db for something else, which is no way a desirable action.

Abap report for PO details including the person releasing the PO last.
Hi gurus,
I need to create a abap report for the purchase order details. I am finding difficulty in getting the last person who released the PO. Can anyone tell me how can I get the person who released the PO last ??
From which table I can get this detail ??Hey hi ,
thanks for your reply,
Actually , I already went through the tables before, but here, there is one scenario listed below which is creating the problem :
1. There are two person related with the release of PO and either of the two can release the PO ( in other's absense ). Now, how to check who released the PO among the two. Here link with the PO is necessary as the person released this PO might not release the next PO.
Thats why i feel the link of the PO must be existing based on release code too. As suppose the organization assign another manager to release the PO, it should not affect previous PO's released by the Old manager.
thanks

PR release strategy issue comes when Line items in PR added by two different persons, PR Release strategy(overall release) not getting triggered.
Release strategy is working fine if i create PR with only one user id.
Both id's maintained in classification.
Is this sap standard behavior??
Created PR 4201001933 line item 10. using User ID - 20061704
Triggered correct release strategy TD QH.
Added line item 20 using user Id - 345045 --- (release startegy gone)
classification Maintained for TD QHWe have a similar equirement since we have cost center as one of the characteristics in PR overall release strategy.
In our case we agreed with Business that the CC in the first PR line item will decide the release strategy. (Or the first CC of thefirst line item in case of multiple account assignment.) We wrote a small piece of code to achieve this, to enter that CC in ceban-kostl.
If your business requirement permits, you may follow this strategy, where user id of the first line item will derive release strategy.

Report for viewing credit limit block released documents
Hello All,
Our client's requirement- credit limit check to be carried out and authorised persons can release the blocked orders.
But is there any report at month end to see how many documents were released and who released them Is there any standard report for viewing these or ABAP has to develop them? VKM2 transaction- released SD Documents would not show any released documents once billing is done i.e, once the sales documents is released it cannot be known who released it and when, how to track this?. so what can be the solution for this? Please suggest
Regards,
RAJDear Raja,
Use VKM4 t code.
You can see both credit released sales orders and deliveries.
Put Overall credit status as D.
You can see how much value was released, when it was released. But with which user id it was released you cant see it.

How to setup a release strategy for store generated purchase order
Hi there,
Does anybody know how to setup a release strategy for store/plant generated purchase order? I have a request from our client, but I never cross this before. Please help and let me know the step with every single detail.
Greatly thank for your help.
Kind Regards,
2teaPlease go thru the below Release Procedure and check whether you have maintained all the settings properly.
PO RELEASE STRATEGY
The release code is a two-character ID allowing a person to release (clear, or approve) a requisition or an external purchasing document. The release codes is basically controlled via a system of authorizations (authorization object M_EINK_FRG).
Use SE12, structure CEKKO to check all the fields available for controlling the Purchase Order.
e.g. If the total value for the Purchase Order exceeds 10,000, release strategy 01 is assigned to the Purchase Order. There is only one characteristic created in this example. For controlling the Purchase Order type, create characteristic for CEKKO-BSTYP and the value NB.
CT04 - Create Characteristic e.g. NETVALUE
Click Additional data Table name CEKKO Field name GNETW and press enter
(for currency dependent field, you are prompt to enter the currency which the system then converts the currency of the Purchasing document into this currency)
In the Basic data (X refers to tick),
X Mutliple values
X Interval values
In the Value data, in the Char. value column, type >10000 and press enter
Save your data
CL02 - Class
Class - Create REL_PUR
Class type - 032
Click Create

In the Same Classification section, click Check with error
In the Char. (characteristic) tab, type NETVALUE to assign your characteristics to the class
OMGS - Define Release Procedure for Purchase Order Type
Release Group - New entries
Rel.group Rel. Object Class Description
02 REL_PUR Rel. Strategy for PO
Release codes - New entries
Grp Code

Release indicators
Release indicators Release Description
0 Blocked
1 X Release
Release Strategy
Release group 02
Rel.strategy 01
Release codes 01
Release status 01
Classification Choose your check values
OMGSCK - Check Release Strategies
(make sure there are no error messages)
Once the Purchase Order is not release, buyers will not be able to print the Purchase Order.
Goods Receipts will be shown with Message no. ME 390 - Purchasing document XXXXXXX not yet released.
In 4.6c, Purchase Order with Release Strategy have a tabs at the end of the Header. This allowed the buyers to check the release status of the Purchase Order.
The person with the release authorization have to use ME28 to release the Purchase Order.

Status profile in sales order Re Release
Hi Experts,
Scenario is like this
Iam using status profile ZETO1 in T.Code [BS02] for releasing sales order once Sales team person creates a sales order VA01. After this Fiance person will release through sales order status in header (i have created status profile and authorisation key
which will be with Finance person)
I have status profile like this step 10 and 20 in T.Code [BS02]
10. created (initail status)
20. released by finance
once finace person release this delivery can happen.(i have used user exit for this)
the problem is if sales team member again make changes in sales order then status of sales order again should go to step 10 then it should be again released by finance person.
whether it is possible to re realese in status profile concept in SD???
please help
Thanks and Regards,
kedarHi
Your requirement can be fulfilled through a User exit.
You write the logic as below, All the data related to statuses are stored in JCDS and JEST tables.
So you can pass the OBJNR from VBAK to JCDS table there you have to get the status for the fourth profile and look for the fields
INACT and CHIND, if for the fouth status if the CHIND is U then there should not be nay modifications
