How can I print (into a physical book) a photo journal created by iPhoto using iPad?

I think I worked out a clunky but workable way to do this.  There is an app for iPad called PhotoSync.  It is not free for the iPad but free for computers you want to sync with.  Install it.  When you edit photos in iPhoto on your iPad make sure to save them to Camera Roll.  PhotoSync will take the edited pictures from your iPad that have been saved into Camera Roll and will move them to your computer in batch (so long as it is on the same wireless network) where you merely import them into iPhoto or whatever software you use, and you can build a book for print.  The secret is to save the pictures into Camera Roll as you edit them, there is no batching function into camera roll, so doing it afterwards is tedious.  It actually works quite simply and because PhotoSync is free for computers, you can transfer photos to any computer that has downloaded the free software that is on the same wireless network - works great to get pictures to kids' or spouses computers.

  • Changed ipad id online but its not changing it on my ipad..

hey i changed my ipad id online but its not changing it on the ipad. how do i do that? as of now i cant even update the apps becasue the id and password dont match

Try logging out of your account on your iPad by tapping on the id in Settings > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores on iOS 6+) and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' the account on it

  • Some photos will not sync from iPhoto to iPad

I could REALLY use some help. For starters, here is what I am working with:
iPad3, 64 Gigs, 32 gigs free, up to date iOS
Mac Pro with OSX 10.8.3 and iPhoto 9.4.2
The main problem is that some photos can not be synced to my iPad. I have done this for years using iTunes. When I am in iTunes, I can see the albums where the photos are supposed to be. But often, the number of photos in the folder is listed as zero. Other times, the number is less than the number that is actually in the folder on my Mac. Syncing or Applying does not find and move the seemingly invisible pictures. The photos on my Mac are in JPEG format, and can be seen and emailed and edited, etc. on my Mac. I just cant get my iPad to see them and sync them. To say the least, this is problematic, I use my iPad show my craftwork photos to clients, and I can't get some newer photos put on the beautiful handheld iPad.More (potential) pieces of the puzzle:
the issues seem more frequent with new photos. Old albums seem stable and transferable
I have done some things like clearing ALL photos off my iPad, restarting it, then moving the albums back on to the iPad using iTunes. Didn't help
iPhoto on my Mac does sometimes exhibit some crankiness. It tends to crash if I choose Info on any photo. Sometimes it loses photos I have imported. Sometimes it duplicates some photos in a folder.
I have tried restarting my Mac, have done disk diagnostics, have zapped PRAM, repaired permissions.... all sorts of things like that
A few weeks ago, I backed up my iPhoto library to another drive, then run a couple of the options in the Rebuild iPhoto Library menu. None of that helped.
I think there may have been a few other anomolies in the last few months, but the ones above are the things I can remember
Any help would be super kind of you. I am a Mac user since the very original 128k 1984 Mac. And I have figured out a lot of minor problems in all those years. This one seems so mysterious and intractable. And is really putting a kink in my use of the iPad.
    Thanks in advance, Peter

didn't try the reboot but when I took my first picture wit the iphone camera then all photos showed up in 'photos' album along with 'camera roll'

  • Trying to sync photos from iTunes (via iPhoto) to ipad and iPhone. The  Photo tab does not show up and no sync occurs

Trying to sync photos from iphoto to ipad and iphone.  Photo tab does not show up in itunes under devices.

    I had a similar problem (https://discussions.apple.com/message/24525903#24525903)
The solution in my case was to start iPhoto and let it update the library, even thu itunes was set up to sync with Aperture.

  • Photos not visible in iPhoto v8.1 (iLife 09)

I've copied my iPhoto library to a new computer and even though all pictures are in the library, about half of them are not visible in iPhoto v8.1 (iLife 09).
    • Only 74 events of 219 are visible.
    • Picture count on new computer is 2752 and 7709 on old computer in iPhoto
    • iPhoto on older machine is v7.1.5 (iLife 08)
    • New albums have been created on new machine that must have disappeared during previous iPhoto updates.
    • Photo library size is 3 GB larger on new machine
    • Running 10.5.8 on older machine and 10.6.1 on new machine
I've played with "Hide Photos" and no change.
Any one has any ideas how to correct this?
    Thanx in advance.

Just an update on this...re-copied and I'm having the same issue. Here are some additional testing I did.
    • Updated iPhoto to v8 (iLife 09) on the original machine (G5 PM) and no issues.
    • Copied updated Library to new machine (iMac 3.06) and still same issue. Its running iPhoto 8.1
    • Updated iPhoto to 8.1 on G5 and I'm encountering the same issue as the iMac. Only see 74 events out of some 220 events and 2752 pictures out of 7100 pictures.
Conclusion - iPhoto 8.1 (iLife 09) messes up something in my photo library.
TD - thanx for your quick feedback.
BTW - just got notification that a new iPhoto update, 8.1.1, is available! Going to try it and update the results here.

  • Photos not appearing in iphoto after sync

Some of my imported photos from my iPhone 4 are not showing up in iPhoto.  The import was successful and I deleted them from my phone when prompted.  Could they be somewhere else on my computer?

I have the similar issue with iPad 2. I initially could view all the photos on the photo gallery via iphoto app, but from a few weeks back I cannot see all the photos shown on the photo gallery via the iphoto app for ipad. I have also got issues with albums created on the photo app which are showing pics from different albums all merged on the iphoto view page. Could someone help?

iPhoto from iPhone or iPad does not at this time sync with iPhoto on the Mac.

    Hi
Yes I draged some of the pictures from the finder and made a new folder called photos, but when I look for the photos in the finder under itunes they are all still there.
It is strongly advised that you do not move, change or in anyway alter things in the iPhoto Library Folder as this can cause the application to fail and even lead to data loss
Now, to recover the situation you have two options:
    1. Return things exactly as they were or
    2. Restore an up-to-date back up or
    2. create an populate a new library.
To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.
Assuming that you moved those files to make the easier to find, There are three ways (at least) to get files from the iPhoto Window.
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
To upload to MySpace or any site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. If you're using Gmail you can use THIS
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser. Or, if you want to access the files with iPhoto not running, then create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use THIS
The change was made to the format of the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves. If you're willing to risk database corruption, you can restore the older functionality simply by right clicking on the iPhoto Library and choosing 'Show Package Contents'. Then simply make an alias to the folders you require and put that alias on the desktop or where ever you want it. Be aware though, that this is a hack and not supported by Apple.

  • Photos not visible in iPhoto 6

I'm a Mac newbie, and haven't been able to figure out the following situation.
I transfered all of my .JPG files from my PC to the 'iPhoto Library' using my home network.
Problem: I can't seem to see any of my pictures using iPhoto or other applications that are iPhoto compatible.
Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

    Hi Asing,
If you manually put your photos into the iPhoto Library folder in the Finder, Then that is your problem. they need to be imported into iPhoto for iPhoto to see them.
Drag them out of the iPhoto Library folder to the desktop, then drag them into an open iPhoto viewing window.
    More info for you!
--First thing to know and remember is this...Do not drag any images, folder of images into the iPhoto Library in the Finder. Images have to be imported into iPhoto within the application. Do not scan images and save them into the iPhoto Library folder in the Finder. Save them to another location such as the Pictures folder or even the desktop. You can then import them into iPhoto.
If you have already put files/folders in the iPhoto Library folder in the Finder then you will also find out that if you try to import them into iPhoto you will get an error message. No worry, just drag them to the desktop and import from there.
--All images that you import are shown in the library view. You can choose how you want to view, by rolls, by date, by rating, etc. When you put images in an Album, slideshow, book, etc, you are actually just putting pointers to those images in the library. You are not adding more images. If you delete an image from the Album it will still be in the library. If you delete an image from the library it is deleted from iPhoto's database and your hard drive (unless you have it backed up somewhere else)
--You have a folder of images on your hard drive and want to import them into iPhoto. Drag the folder of images into an open iPhoto Library window and the folder of photos will be copied into the library, resulting in a new roll with the name of the folder. You now have two copies of those photos, the ones in iPhoto's database and the ones on your desktop. You can keep the ones on your desktop that you just imported as backup or you can delete that folder.
-- you scan a picture/pictures and save it in a folder. You cannot scan directly into iPhoto or the iPhoto Library folder in the Finder.
You want all your photos in iPhoto so you import them into iPhoto.
Now you have two copies of that picture/pictures, so you can delete the originals that were in the scanned folder and keep the one/ones that were imported into iPhoto.
-- You download pictures from your camera into iPhoto.
There is now one copy of each of the pictures. (DO NOT HAVE IPHOTO DELETE THE IMAGES FROM YOUR CAMERA! DELETE THEM MANUALLY WITH THE CAMERA-if something goes wrong with the import and they are never imported and then they are deleted from the camera you might end up losing those images)
You want to change something about a picture you imported, such as
cropping it or changing the size, or changing the orientation.
Once you do that to a picture, you now have two copies of the picture
in iPhoto, the original and the edited one. The edited one will be in the library organize view. The original is packed away in an Original folder in your iPhoto Library folder under the date of the roll. You can always revert to the original by control clicking on the photo and choose "revert to orginal" You will not have this choice if you used iPhoto Diet to get rid of the Originals.
(a quick note on cropping within iPhoto...when you are in edit mode, you automatically will be in the crop mode with cross hairs to highlight the crop area. To finish cropping you must click the crop button and then go back to library view and your cropped picture will be there.
3.You want to use Photoshop or another graphic program to edit a picture in your iPhoto library.
You can open up prefs for iPhoto and choose "when double clicking on
photo ..do" choose "other" and select Photoshop. Now you can edit all
pictures in your iPhoto library in PhotoShop by double clicking. If you save the photo with the same name and as a flattened file it will be saved right into iPhoto and you will see the changes. If you don't want to save it into iPhoto then do a "save as" and save to the desktop. You will then have the original photo still in iPhoto and your new edited photo on the desktop.
Or, with iPhoto open, you can drag a picture from the library window
to your desktop (you see a + sign on the pic you are dragging). You now
have two of the same picture, one in the iPhoto library and one on your desktop. You can open up the one on your desktop in any graphic program and work on it. The one in iPhoto stays the same. You can also share/export the picture/pictures to your desktop or folder to work on them or do batch processing, etc. You will still have the originals in your iPhoto Library.
Or, you can open up the ~/Pictures/iPhoto Library/folders and option drag any
picture out of the folder to your desktop. Notice that you will see a plus sign while dragging the photo. This is copying the file to your desktop
I would advise anyone not to do this as they might forget to use the option key and drag the photo out. Next time you open iPhoto the photo will be missing.
Two Apple kbs for you to read
Don't tamper with files in the iPhoto library folder
    About the iPhoto Library folder
Don't forget that in Library view you can Control click on any picture and get a contextual menu with many options. One is to revert to original.

  • Any way to change the iPhoto (iOS/iPad) slideshow speed?

Using iPhoto on iPad, there is a slideshow feature, but I can't find any setting for the duration per slide? Is it possible to change this at all?

    Hi Léonie
Thanks for your suggestion. I had also found that Settings option.
However, the Photos app has a major drawback compared to iPhoto: when output via the HDMI external adapter, it uses the default (utterly idiotically infuriatingly inappropriate) TV underscan, so it doesn't fill a Full HD screen. iPhoto is more sensibly designed and doesn't underscan, so photos are shown full-screen.
So I find myself apparently caught between two Apple apps that both have obvious, glaring deficiencies!
I wonder if Apple software engineers EVER examine real-life product usage or even talk to actual users.

  • IPhone photos not seen in iPhoto - iPhone and iPhoto out of sync

Normally when I connect my iPhone 3Gs to my iMac, iPhoto '08 opens and my iPhone is recognized and all photos on the phone are shown in iPhoto, ready for import. However, my iPhone and iPhoto now seem out of sync. Without my iPhone connected, I opened iPhoto and it shows my iPhone in the device list; instead of showing photo thumbnails on my iPhone, iPhoto displays empty boxes where the photos would ordinarily be. When I connect the iPhone, iPhoto continues to show the empty boxes, rather than the photos on my phone. When I try to import one of the "invisible" photos, I get an iPhoto error message: "The following file could not be imported. (The import failed.)" How can I correct this behavior so that I can import iPhone photos again?

    Try trash the following file
    com.apple.ImageCaptureNotifications.DeviceDiscoveryDatabase.501
    from HD/Library/ Caches
    and restart your mac.

  • Photos not visible in iPhoto

I have uploaded some photos to iPhoto and when I wanted to move them into a folder iPhoto crashed and the photos are now not visible. I checked my files and the photos are there in jpg format. When I try to import them I get an error message that the format is not recognized and that the photo is already in iPhoto. Does someone have any idea what I could do to get the photos back into iPhoto?

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Photos not deleting in iPhoto

Photos are not deleting in iPhoto library. When I select a photo and hit delete they photo does not delete and the next photo is highlighted. I've tried to drag photos to the iPhoto trash but that doesn't work either. I was having similar problems when working in the iPhoto library on my Air and had to rebuild the library/thumbnails. It also will not merge two Events together. This was the same problem I had before I rebuilt the library. This worked for a little (an hour) while but am now having the same issues. I am syncronizing my libraries with Chronosync but haven't ran into this problem before. I'm using iPhoto 9.

I am in the process of organizing all my photos (around 24,000), starting to name Faces, merging Events, rating photos, and deleting photos. After I work a while I run into this problem above.

  • Why are my new iPhone 4S photos not displayed in iPhoto?

I have just started using a new iPhone 4S and have taken photos that will not display in iPhoto.  My previous iPhone 3GS worked fine, but now the image files from the new iPhone 4S show as dashed outlined files with the file numbers showing. But when I try to import them, they are indicated as unreadable. What is the problem and what's my next step?

Type "iphone not recognized in itunes" into the search bar at the top of this page by "Support" and read the resulting help articles.
