Photostream grayed out on Windows 7 64-bit

Hi -
Photostream was working for me from Dec, 2011 - March, 2012. Then, suddenly it stopped working and no photos were getting "pushed" to my Windows 7 64 bit machine from my iPhone. I searched on Google and tried many fixes. One of the fixes was to uninstall/reinstall iCloud. After doing this, Photostream is now grayed (greyed) out on my Windows iCloud control panel. I have tried everything to get it to come back on but nothing works. Please help!

Well, I've never gotten this to work even with the iOS6 but I did find a solution. I completely uninstalled iCloud from my computer and turned it off on my iPhone. I use Carbonite to back up my Windows computer and now Carbonite has a mobile app that backs up all photos and videos from your iPhone to Carbonite. So, between Gmail which is syncing my mail, contacts, calendars and Carbonite which is backing up my photos and videos, I don't need iCloud. Thank goodness because clearly there is no support for it.

You may have to see about using the Recovery HD partition to attempt to erase and restore useful function of the capacity lost to the former Windows installation.
And you may have to backup your contents outside the computer to do it. Disk Utility on the Mac OS X historically has not been able to touch a BootCamp created partition; so if BootCamp cannot remove it, then you have to see how to do the equivalent of a reformat of the entire drive (less Recovery partition?) then reinstall your OS X. Maybe from internet recovery, then get your applications, etc from the Mac App store, etc.
A complete system clone of your OS X on an external HDD would be another method to restore after reformat, of the portion you want whole again, not necessarily the space where Recovery may live.
    There may be (an)other way(s).
    Perhaps someone with recent experience
in this matter can reply & discuss options.
With my antiques, they almost know what I want before I tell them.
Hopefully yours will after you talk to it awhile.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Option to extend partition is grayed out in windows 2008 R2

Option to extend partition is grayed out in windows 2008 R2

    Ok, so let's sum-up:
    - You want to resize your Windows system partition (say C: )
    - you failed resizing using Diskpart
    - you failed resizing using a third-party server running Windows 2008 and its disk management tool (diskmgmt.msc)
    - you failed resizing using Dell Extpart ...
    - You have no credit to buy some EaseUS/Acronis/Partition Magic ... stuff
    Then the only reliable (and last) solution you have is using Linux GParted, regardless your Partion is physical or virtual;
    - if your partition is physical, good for you, boot on the Gparted CD and that would do the trick... just resize, that's a 2 mn Job.
    - if your partition is a vmdk disk (VMWare), so you have to tweak your VM forcing it to boot on the GParted .ISO file (to do so: press the F2 key very quickly, as soon as the VM starts). From there, go to the Boot Option of the VM BIOS and select the CD-ROM
    as the primary boot disk.
Reboot your VM, now it will automatically boot on GParted, and there you are : you CAN resize your Volume this way, it does work, the procedure is the same as if you resized a physical partition. When done, select 'Apply' and shut down your VM.
In VMWare, go back to the boot option and remove the Gparted  "ISO" file from the boot menu (this will let Windows boot again).
Start your VM... Logon Windows... and now you can see your partition is successfuly resized.
    You are happy, great Job!

  • Adobe Paper Texture Pro! Extension Grayed Out in Window

I installed this Add-On via my CC membership. It says in my CC Desktop APP that it is installed.
But when I open PS CC the "extensions" menu is grayed out under windows - where I was told to find from the Adobe Add-On page.
I've done all the trouble shooting suggestions with no luck!

    Hi Jonathan,
I installed the Kuler Panel PS CC 2014 and the menu access for extensions in PS is still greyed out   [WINDOWS:EXTENSIONS]  I also added Dodge and Burn ... nothing shows, juts the greyed out 'Extensions' menu option.  I've waited, waited more, restarted and restarted again .. still nothing.  I reinstalled the Extensions Manager .. still nothing.  The Add-ons show in the Add-ons page as installed .. ie they have a remove option button .... this has been the case since 29th June.  I tried everything afresh today, and nope, nothing.

  • How can I customize Firefox to eliminate the function where the browser grays out the window in order to highlight a question box?

Ever since I upgraded from Firefox 3 (which I waited so long to do because I couldn't customize the newer Firefox the way I wanted to) to Firefox 14.0.1, I have had a problem.
I guess that one of the websites I visit is trying to imitate Windows, where the background becomes grayed out whenever it wants you to concentrate on a response box. So when I am on a third-party email site (Inbox.com), and delete a message, when the message box pops up to ask me if I really want to delete the message, the background becomes grayed out while the response box is displayed. This never happened on that site when I used Firefox 3, and I would like to prevent this from happening.
I have tried to manage this with an add-on (Element Hiding Helper for Adblock Plus), but it won't allow me to select the grayed out part of the screen the way it does with unsolicited "pop-ups".
Is there a Firefox setting or an add-on I can use to keep the background from becoming "grayed out"?
    Thank you

    Thanks for responding.
It isn't that there is anything grayed out that I need to see, just that it would be a preference of mine to not have the graying occur. It didn't happen in build 3.
It's just that something about the graying strikes me as "bossy", and since it's my computer (and I should be able to control it as I please), it irritates me.
To answer your other post, I don't want to upgrade to build 20. Actually, I would rather return to 3, just to keep things like this from happening.
In version 3, I also had more control over the autocomplete function on some websites. I'm not talking about the autocomplete that fills in forms or passwords, but the autocomplete that occurs when you type in a search box on a website. I had eliminated almost all occurances of autocomplete by using various different things, until I got Firefox 14. Now I have to put up with it on a few sites, including one that I use often.
Every time I get a newer version of Firefox, I have to accept more and more things that I don't want to have in my browser.

  • 5.0 LE Crop tool grayed out in Windows XP???

I've been using Photoshop 5.0 LE for many years on a Windows 98SE system. I recently installed it on my Windows XP system and it works great - except that the crop tool is grayed out - meaning I can't use it.  It doesn't matter if I open a new project or open an existing image.  It's still grayed out.  Is this a known issue?  Is there a patch to fix this?

You may get an answer but that version is pretty ancient.
You could try running the application in compatibility mode by right-clicking on the .exe file and under Properties > Compatibility pick an earlier OS.

  • Why is Photostream grayed out, not available, in iCloud Control Panel?

I have uninstalled iCloud Control Panel, rebooted, reinstalled, several times. Always the same result.

I am beyond sick of this problem!!!  Spent nearly a whole day last week uninstalling, reinstalling, settings, more settings, closing down, opening up yadiyadiya..........Thought Id sorted it - well for one day!!  And here we go again!!!!  As soon as I find an alternative method of posting photos I will discard icloud completely.  Apple help is no help.  I dont want to read any more notes, fixes, information which isnt effective or which Ive already tried.  Its clearly a total sytem failure and I for one am sick of it!!!

  • Grayed Out Thumbnails In Lightroom 3 Using Windows 7 (64 bit)

I just installed Lightroom 3 on a new Win7 64-bit HP computer. I imported some photos and it appeared to go OK, but all the thumbnails in the Grid View and in the Film Strip are grayed out when in Library. They is also no image displayed in Develop. If I mouse over any thumbnail in Library, however, the file attributes are displayed, so I know the images are there. I can also see the thumbnails in the Web module.
I also installed Lightroom 2, which ran fine on my 32-bit, but its thumbnails are also grayed out in 64-bit. Do you suppose this is a 64-bit problem?

Right your are, Beat. I'm planning on getting a Spyder3, but in the meantime
I thought I would try running the Windows monitor calibration procedure
    (partly described below).
    Kind regards,
    Ron
Calibrating your display helps to ensure that colors are represented
accurately on your monitor. In Windows, you can use Display Color
    Calibration to calibrate your display.
If you have a display calibration device that came with other software,
consider using the color measurement device with the accompanying software
instead of Display Color Calibration. Using the calibration device with the
accompanying calibration software that often comes with it can help you get
the best color on your display. In general, using a color measurement
instrument to calibrate your display will result in a better calibration
compared to the results of doing a visual calibration (which is done in
       Display Color Calibration).
Display Color Calibration is not available in Windows Server 2008 R2.
       1.
       Click to open Display Color
    Calibration.<shortcut:%25systemroot%25\system32\dccw.exe>
image: Administrator permission required If you're prompted for an
administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide
       confirmation.
       2.
In Display Color Calibration, click Next to continue

  • File-Export grayed out in CS4 Photoshop 64-bit

Is it because no 64-bit export modules are available?
    Thanks, Dave
I am running on Windows 7

D'oh. I would probably have figured that out if the items under Export were grayed out instead of the Export option itself.
    Thanks for the reply, Dave

  • How to remove bit Defender Anti-Phishing Toolbar 2.0, tools grayed out.

I have tried to remove Bit Defender Anti=Phishing Toolbar 2.0 from the Tools menu but the removal button is grayed out. Is there a way to remove it manually? I no longer use Bit Defender, it is removed from my computer. I am using Firefox 3.6.11. I am using Windows XP Home Edition.

Do you still have a BitDefender directory in program folders, usual location is C:\Program Files\BitDefender\
If the directory still exists, the uninstall did not complete fully. BitDefender recommend downloading the uninstaller and running it again. You can get the uninstaller from http://www.bitdefender.com/uninstall
If that does not work, you can try manually removing the toolbar. Do you have a folder called C:\Program Files\BitDefender\BitDefender 2009\FFToolbar
The "BitDefender 2009" part will vary depending on the version of BitDefender installed. If that still exists try deleting the contents of the FFToolbar folder.
BitDefender is likely to have added an entry to the Windows Registry, if you are happy with editing the registry you can remove the entry, for details see the "Windows registry extension" section of http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_add-ons
'''Warning: Only edit the registry if you know what you are doing, making an error in the registry can cause serious problems with Windows, it may even prevent Windows from starting.'''

  • Transferred itunes library from Windows XP PC to new Windows 7 PC. plugged in 3rd gen Ipod. Ipod icon appears along with playlists, music etc. Songs are grayed out and won't play. Please help!

I recently transferred itunes library from windows XP PC to new Windows 7 PC. The transfer was successful, however when I plug my 3rd gen Ipod Nano into the new PC, the Ipod icon appears along with the music, playlists, etc. The songs are shown but are 'grayed out' and wont play or sync. The 'Devices & Printers' window in new PC shows icon for Ipod driver & is OK. The icon for the Ipod appears but depicts a delta shaped warning icon that states that the Ipod is'not operating properly'. Tried troubleshooting. The troubleshooting message states the the Ipod is 'disconnecting'. Can you help me with this problem?

Then, I dropped the entire itunes file from the old PC (XP) into an empty external drive.
That "itunes file from the old PC"?  Is that the iTunes folder, from the old PC, that was in the user home folder's Music folder?
All of the library, playlists, etc. from the ipod as they always have been are shown, by they are 'grayed out' and will not open or play.
That's on the iPod, correct?  Are all of your old playlists in iTunes, from the old PC, still there in iTunes on the new PC?  Are the songs in iTunes still playable?
This document provides the steps to transfer a complete iTunes library between two computers.  See the section called External drive.
iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer - Apple Support
There are many steps, but this is a summary.  (1) On the old PC, consolidate all of your iTunes data into the iTunes folder.  (2) Copy this iTunes folder to the external drive.  (3) On the new PC (that has iTunes installed but NOT running), replace its existing iTunes folder with the one from the old PC (on the external drive).  When you run iTunes, it uses the iTunes folder from the old PC, and it should look like iTunes on the old PC (with all the playlists, ratings, play count, etc.), and your iPod will see the iTunes library as the same iTunes library (because it is the same library).
If you did something different, and the old PC is still accessible, you may want to try it using the method from the linked document.

  • Why is the "Show my windows and tabs from last time) option in Options- General is grayed out and will not let me restore previous sessions?

After updating to Firefox 6, the option in the Options-> General section to "Show my windows and tabs form last time" is grayed out and will not allow me to set it. If I go to the Firefox homepage, the option does not appear, nor does it appear if I go under the History or Firefox tab.
I tried to follow the directions on this website on the Session Restore page, but that seems out of date or just not helping.
I even went to the about:config (about:session restore does not work) and there was nothing I saw that would work

Firefox 6 seems to change your settings in Tools Options Privacy to "Never remember history". Once you change this to "Remember history" it will restore your previous session, as long as the setting in Tools Options General Startup is set to "Show my windows and tabls from last time"
Bad idea Mozilla - installing 6 should pick up your settings from 5. This problem will confuse many users.

  • I have Windows 8.1 on my PC. Ever since downloading the latest version of i Tunes 11.1.4 it will not recognize any of my i Pods (3). Never had any problems syncing until this latest version of i Tunes.Manual sync is "grayed out", any ideas ? Thanks

I have Windows 8.1 on my PC. Ever since downloading the latest version of i Tunes, it will not recognize any of my i Pods (3) and therefore am unable to sync any music from my i Tunes to the i Pods. I've tried all the obvious things like resarting the PC as well as the i Pods tried different patch cables but the i Tunes software will no longer recognize my i Pods. I have automatic sync selected, but I even tried to manually sync by clicking on devices under File but the sync icon is "grayed" out. When I look under Preferences and click on devices the serial numbers of my i Pods appear and are correct but again will not recognize the i Pod when plugged in to the PC. Bottom line I'm dead in the water....appreciate any suggestions....thanks
