Physical attributes for index on temp tables (using physical model)

I need create index on temp tables.
When I generate DDL, it includes physical attributes like ‘LOGGING NOCOMPRESS NOPARALLEL’.
I get error "ORA – 14451 (unsupported feature w/temporary tables)"
I’ve to use physical model in OSDM. How do I get rid of physical attributes in DDL for index?

Hi,
Thanks for reporting this problem.
You can remove the LOGGING clause by opening the Properties dialog for the Index in the Physical model and setting its Logging property to the blank option.
However it's not possible to suppress the NOCOMPRESS and NOPARALLEL at the moment.
I've logged a bug on this.
As a workaround, you could do a global edit on the DDL file to remove all instances of NOCOMPRESS and NOPARALLEL.

    Anish,
    Creating tables is likely to be an expensive operation.
    Performance issues can only be considered in comparison to
    alternatives.
    Alternatives include: PLSQL tables, cursors and/or recoding so
    that tmp tables are not required. (One of our consultants reckons
    that sqlserver temp tables are usually used to get around
    limitations in sqlserver, ie slightly more complicated sql
    statements could be used instead of simpler sql and temporary
    tables).
    I would think creating the temp table once during sqlplus would
    be cheaper than creating and deleting it repeatedly at run time.
    Note that EXECUTE IMMEDIATE may do an implicit commit (dbms_sql
    certainly does). This may be got over my using the PRAGMA
    AUTONOMOUS_TRANSACTION; direction which places a
    procedure/function in a seperate transaction.

  • How to specify COMPRESS FOR OLTP on a table in physical model?

    Hi,
    we have licensed Oracle's Advanced Compression and want to use the OLTP compression on some tables. I am looking for a way to specify COMPRESS FOR OLTP on a table in the physical model. So far, I can only set "Data Compression" to YES or NO.
    Are you going to add the "new" compression modes in the next release?
    Thanks,
    Frank
    Version of SQL Developer Data Modeler is 3.1.3.709

    Hi Frank,
    Are you going to add the "new" compression modes in the next release?There is support for compression type (including OLTP) in DM 3.3 EA and you can download it from OTN.

  • Actual Column Name for Index when Function is used?

    Hi,
    We have some indeces where the column in oracle is actually a function in the form UPPER('column-name'). When I query user_ind_columns I get something like SYS_NC0012$ for the column name. Where would I be able to actually query the actual column it's using in the index? So that I can query the exact column name if need be. Don't ask why cause this is a developer asking me this and they are doing some sort of a comparison between indexes between two application.
    Here is the SQL for the Index and the Table associated with it
    create table BATCH_HEADER2
    PAYMENT_TYPE VARCHAR2(17),
    BATCH_TYPE VARCHAR2(40) not null,
    BATCHNUM NUMBER not null,
    BRANCH VARCHAR2(16),
    BATCH_TIME NUMBER,
    USER_LOB VARCHAR2(16),
    PAYEE_TYPE VARCHAR2(40),
    PROGRESS_RECID NUMBER,
    CHEQUE_TYPE VARCHAR2(60),
    SCANNERBATCHNO NUMBER,
    RECEIPTCOUNT NUMBER
    alter table BATCH_HEADER2
    add constraint PK_BATCH_HEADER2 primary key (BATCH_TYPE, BATCHNUM)
    using index
    tablespace FT1_DATA;
    --Inxes
    create unique index FT1DSTINT.BATCH_HEADER2##BYNUM on FT1DSTINT.BATCH_HEADER2 (UPPER(BATCH_TYPE), BATCHNUM)
    tablespace FT1_DATA
    pctfree 10
    initrans 2
    maxtrans 255
    storage (initial 64K
    minextents 1
    maxextents unlimited);

    From Oracle's standpoint, though, it isn't indexing BATCH_TYPE. It's indexing an arbitrary function that happens to take BATCH_TYPE as an input. As far as Oracle is concerned, you might just as easily be indexing an expression that took a dozen column names as parameters, so it doesn't really make sense for Oracle to try to break down anything beyond the function.
    Of course, you could always parse the expression and extract the column name, but I would be dubious that's the right answer... If a developer is comparing indexes between columns, there is a heck of a lot of difference between an index on BATCH_TYPE, and index on UPPER(BATCH_TYPE) and an index on SOME_OTHER_FUNCTION( BATCH_TYPE ).

  • SQL Server 2014 Bug - with Clustered Index On Temp Table with Identity Column

    Hi,
    Here's a stored procedure.  (It could be shorter, but this will show the problem.)
              CREATE PROCEDURE dbo.SGTEST_TBD_20141030 AS
              IF OBJECT_ID('TempDB..#Temp') IS NOT NULL
                 DROP TABLE #Temp
              CREATE TABLE #Temp
               Col1        INT NULL
              ,Col2        INT IDENTITY NOT NULL
              ,Col3        INT NOT NULL
              CREATE CLUSTERED INDEX ix_cl ON #Temp(Col2)

              SELECT 1,2,3
              RAISERROR('Insert Success!!!',0,1) WITH NOWAIT;
              SET IDENTITY_INSERT #Temp OFF;
    In SQL Server 2014, If I execute this (EXEC dbo.SGTEST_TBD_20141030)   It works.   If I execute it a second time - It fails hard with:
            Msg 0, Level 11, State 0, Line 0
            A severe error occurred on the current command.  The results, if any, should be discarded.
            Msg 0, Level 20, State 0, Line 0
            A severe error occurred on the current command.  The results, if any, should be discarded.
    In SQL Server 2012, I can execute it over and over, with no problem.  I've discovered two work-a-rounds:
    1) Add "WITH RECOMPILE" to the SP CREATE/ALTER statement, or
    2) Declare the cluster index in the TABLE CREATE statement, e.g. ",UNIQUE CLUSTERED (COL2)"
    This second option only works though, if the column is unique.    I've opted for the "WITH RECOMPILE" for now.  But, thought I should share.

    Hi,
    I did not get any error Message:

  • For Statement on a table using add.instances - need help

    Hi,
    I made this table in an acrobat form.   The table uses java script to add rows .   The code I used is:
    _detail.addInstance(1);
    There are two fields on this table that I want to evaluate 1)  an index named index1
    and 2) the value named numAmount
    The script I am using to evaluate these to fields is as follows:
    if (form1.Page1.Subform1.Capital1.Capital1.detail.index1.rawValue ==2)
        then
        $.rawValue = form1.Page1.Subform1.Capital1.Capital1.detail.index1.numAmount.rawValue
        endif
    My problem is that I need to nest this if statement inside some kind of a loop.    I want the program to look at my table, determine how many instances the user has added,  scroll through the table and look at index1,  if index 1 = 2 then i want it to return the value in numAmount.
    I just can't get the syntax to work in either form calc or javascript.
    I am trying to write this code using the calculate method on a fourth field located on form1.#subform[2].Table5.Row5.NumericField1
    I have attached the file if it helps.   The table is on page one of the form and the display field is on page three.
    Any help would be much appreciated!!!

  • Can i create more than one attributes for the custom class created using java API

    Hello everyone,
    I have been creating class and its attributes programatically using java APIs, I want to know that is there any way to create multipal attributs for the same class in just one call of API with all the options for each attributes,
    thanks

    You can create a new class and define all of the Attributes at the time the class is created - this is the preferred way of creating classes. Use the addAttributeDefinition() method on ClassObjectDefinition. If you need to add attributes to existing classes, you can only add them one at a time (using the addAttribute() method on ClassObject).

  • Temp tables using an interfaces in ci

    what is the purpose of temp tables in ci while performing interfaces
    any one explain me processing

    Processing a CI messes up SQL cursors I recently discovered. A temp table or a rowset to retrieve the values you're looping over (if applicable of course) can help resolve this issue.
    If you mean App Engine processing in general (as in post above), it mostly is to avoid looping per row and doing the same action over and over again, or to avoid having to put a lot of large tables into 1 query (you could update some of the fields in different steps), for instance support I want to update an amount for each person, then I could have a
    In most cases less performant version:
    DoSelect:
    %Select(EMPLID)
    SELECT EMPLID FROM your query
    Followed by:
    INSERT INTO My_Result
    SELECT * FROM My_Table
    Where emplid = %Bind(Emplid)
    In most case better:
    SQL step:
    Insert into %Table(My_ExmplTMP) (EMPLID) SELECT EMPLID FROM your query
    Followed by:
    INSERT INTO My_Result
    SELECT * FROM My_Table Tbl, %Table(My_ExmplTMP) Tmp

  • MySQL temp tables or Calling Stored procedures in CS4

    I need to filter a result set by username before performing a LEFT JOIN and including OR IS NULL rows. The SQL works from from the mysqli client, by either creating a temp table using  "create temporary table temp_appts select * from..."  Or by creating a stored procedure which contains the same "create temp table" statement, then running my LEFT JOIN statement against the temp table.

    I'm no expert on joins, but I know there were changes in MySQL 5.0.12 that resulted in queries that had previously worked failing. Go to http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/join.html, and scroll down to the section labelled Join Processing Changes in MySQL 5.0.12.

  • Indexing on partitioned tables

    I was wondering if there are any good standards for indexing very large partitioned tables (i.e. what should I index). Also, if there are any good standards for indexing these partitioned tables when running queries that do not include the partitioned column in the query?

    There's no real difference in what you would index, other than maybe a slightly lower requirement for indexing on tha partitioning key column(s).
    You ought to be considering whether you need local or global indexes though, and you'll find a lot of information on that over at http://asktom.oracle.com and in the documentation -- to simplify, OLTP usually uses global indexes and DWH usually uses local indexes. You'll want to understand the pro's and con's or each before deciding on your own situation though.
