Pictures and thumbnails??

When I take pictures with the camera on my phone it save 2 copies of the picture. One is the full size version of the picture and one is a thumbnail size of the picture. When I go to download the pictures on to my PC it downloads both copies of the pic's onto my PC. This is quite annoying. Is there away to stop it from taking or saving the thumbnail size of the picture on the camera so it does download onto the PC?
thanks
Ken

    Good afternoon Ken!
I can imagine how frustrating it can be to get and download duplicate pictures. Deleting the duplicates would be worse. From the forum, I see you have a Droid Charge, is this correct? Are you using default camera application, or 3rd party camera application? On default camera, open camera, select big square on the left, (Shooting Mode), then select Single Shot, and take picture. Let's see if helps. Please keep us posted.
Thank you,

do any adjustment badges display on the thumbs ??? chances are you accidentally turned off the display badges option ...
in the manual pages 231 and 243 may be of particular interest ... it deals with metadata overlays and badges ...
keyboard shortcuts 'Y' and 'U' will hide the metadata overlays for viewer and browser views ...

Rebuild the library with iPhoto Library Manager:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 -Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 -Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be untouched for further attempts at fixing or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Insert static picture between thumbnails and sliding pictures

    Hello everybody,
I try to create a fullscreen slideshow behind a static picture with transparent areas in muse ... unsuccessfully!
In the fullscreen background should be the changing pictures.
Over these sliding pictures, one static picture with transparent areas, fullscreen (important!), so that you can see parts of slideshow.
And in the foreground has to be the thumbnails and buttons trigger to control slideshow.
How can I insert a static picture between thumbnails and sliding pictures?
    Thank you!

  • Image content type in Site Asset Image library: The Preview and Thumbnail Preview columns do not display the picture of the item.

I have two different Site Asset libraries.  The Site Asset Picture library has items of
content type picture.  The Site Asset Image Library has items of
    content type image.
    1) I do not quite understand the different between a picture content type versus an image content type.
    2) the thumbnail and preview columns do not display the image in the Site Asset
Image Library.  (the image does display in the thumbnail column of the Site Asset Picture library.)  I expected the image to display in the Site Asset Image Library the same as it does in the Site Asset Picture library.
    Why doesn't it?

I have subsequently found out that our "Site Asset Images" library is a Document Library to which someone must have replaced the Document content type with an Image content type.  I also found out that picture previews/thumbnails cannot be displayed
in Document libraries.  So the problem was the library type, not the content type.
So I simply created a new Picture Library (whose content type = picture) and copied the files into that and the thumbnails displayed just fine!
I bet what led to this is the default "Site Assets" library that is created for a new Team site.  It is just a document library but sounds very similar to the "Assets" library.  I can imagine someone thinking the "Site Assets" library was a standard
container for images, and simply changed the name to better identify the content!
As far as 'image' vs 'picture' content types, I noticed that a new Picture Library contains a content type of 'picture', but an Asset Library contains a content type of 'image' (as well as audio and video).  Although the 'image' content type has a few
more fields than the 'picture' content type (picture content type does not have thumbnail), the actual Picture Library contains pretty much all the same fields, including the thumbnail.  So for all practical purposes, either library type can be used for
storage of pictures.  I am guessing that the Pictures Library which uses the picture content type is for backwards compatibility purposes, and that the 'image' content type is newer, being derived from the new "Rich Media Asset" content type and used
in the new Asset Library which can hold audio and video in addition to pictures.
Microsoft Help also mentioned that a Picture Library has a slide view which an Asset library does not.  So my take on that is that if you want the potential of seeing your pictures as a slide show, put them in a Picture library which is still using
the 'picture' content type of previous SharePoint versions.  If you want to keep pictures organized with audio/video files, then put them into an Asset library which uses the  'image' content type derived from the new Rich Media Asset content type.

  • Pictures and movies moved to sd card by the OS are not accessible by Album or Movies anymore

    Hello all,
I am new to Android. I own a Xperia Z2 and placed in a 64g SD card. As I take more and more pictures and movies with the camera, every once in a while the OS send me a message saying that the main memory is almost full and suggest to relocate files on the SD card.
I accepted a few times just to realise that the Album and Movies apps are not updated. the link is lost and I dont find the tools to help the OS or the apps find the files at their new location.
Using a file manager (File Commander) I can see where the files are now. I can even see a preview by changing the view settings in the file manager but I cant open them. I get a broken link image instead.
Anyone knows what to do to update the apps and get access back to the files ?
    many many thanks in advance
    JFRICHER

I did the procedure three times now ( media storage / force stop / restart ).
Here's what I get: When I open the Album App, the first few hundred images displayed are broken links. If I browse way down the list, I can see a few pictures that are strangely on my sd card.
Still, using the file manager, I can locate all of them manually, see the thumbnail image for every file, but cant open any.
I just tried as you suggested to put the camera storage location back on internal storage, took a new picture and I was able to see it automatically both using Album app and the File Commander App.
    I am clueless. :o(
thanks for your support alexdon :o)

I have just installed Photoshop Elements for a MAC. MY photos were in iPhoto, I have 47,000 pictures and my drive on my Mac laptop is not large enough. I store my photos in iPhoto on an external drive. Can I store all my photos on an external drive when using Photoshop Elements? If so, in what format should they be stored in? I do I move them from iPhoto to the new storage location? How do I call them up in organizer? And how do I call them up to Edit? I do not want to store any pictures on my Apple Mac laptop. I want to store pictures on several external devices.

Yes you can store images on an external hard dive and have them referenced in Organizer. It’s best to export copies to separate folders/subfolders and that will ensure iPhoto does not get corrupted.
Alternatively you could continue to use iPhoto with the Elements Editor set up in the iPhoto prefs as your external editing app. Then there is no need to use Organizer and no need to duplicate your images.
You can then call up photos directly from iPhoto as normal with the additional option e.g.
Double-click on a thumbnail to edit in iPhoto editor.
Control (right) - click on a thumbnail to edit in the elements app.

  • Where are my pictures and what's wrong with iPhoto??

    Hello Apple Support Community!
Since I have updated iPhoto a few weeks ago, it didn't work right anymore.
Everytime I started it, I had to repair the whole libary.
Because I was tired of waiting several hours I didn't use it until now.
Today I wanted to update my pictures and sync it with my iPhone but iPhoto tells
me that it may be used by another programm (I don't think so) or can't be read anymore.
I looked up the iPhoto libary and opend it to see if my pics are still there (Information tells me
that the size is about 25GB) but there is no folder called "originals" and there isn't a single picture in it!!
I have no copies of the pictures and I would be very sad if they were lost...
I'm looking foward to receive your support and your ideas!
    Sincerely,
    Lukas

we actually need details to help
    - all taps are grey, so I can't open "about iPhoto" but the app store tells me that iPhoto 9.5.1 is installed
No place did I suggest opening "about iPhoto"  what I ask you to do was
look in the Applications folder and select the iPhoto application - get info - what version so you have on your computer?
Looking in the App store is not useful - we know that you have a problem and one possibility is that the App store is confused about what you have so you need to provide the requested information following the directions given
and I have no idea in the wrold what you have done or have - first you say that when you try to rebuild the iPhoto library you get
Ad 3) I already tried to do it but the programm tells me that it will start when a libary is available because there is a time machine backup running (I never activated time machine)
    Then you say
    - done, but nothing new happened
What does that mean - immediately after restarting when you
Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your database
what exactly does happen? Are you saying that you get the message that TM is backing up? Or are you saying that the rebuild does not help? Or are you saying something else?
Remember we can not see you or your computer and to help you you need to follow instructions and provide revenant detailed accurate reports to us
    - i found a lot of pictures of the face recognition service of iPhoto!
    Source:
    /Users/lukasschroll/Pictures/Bibliothek iPhoto/Thumbnails/2012/12/07/20121207-223417
Again you are mucking around inside the iPhoto library - I strongly suggest tha tyou STOP doing this
again it is critical that you stop doing this as I previously said
4 - Stay out of the iPhoto library unless specifically directed by an expert to do things in it - there are no user servicable parts in it and it is extremely easy to make a mistake and deestroy it and lose data

  • Gallery in which user can choose pictures and submit

HI, Im a begginer, so please be patient;)
I want to build an online gallery - very simple, only
thumbnails - in which I upload pictures and the viewer can choose
the pictures he wants and press a submit button. This will send me
an email with the names of the pictures chosen.
Appart from that, I would also like to have another option in
which the viewer can select a number of pictures and download them
all at the same time in high quality.
Im even ready to pay for this.. anyone?
    Is all this possible? Thanks!

You might look into a service like imagequix -
    http://www.imagequix.com/ it
is a huge timesaver & reasonable in price. Site visitors won't
even know they've left your site.

  • Problem with scrolling pictures in thumbnail view!!!

In thumbnail view, when I scroll over the key picture, other pictures come up that are pictures NOT from that event, but others.  Anyone know why that is and how I fix it so that the correct pictures scroll?
For example, if I have 3 events, when i scroll over the key picture and ther other pictures that come up are those of events 1 and/or 2, along with some from even 3.
    Any help would be appreciated

Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.

  • IPhoto 6 Missing Pictures and Bigger Library

Please help me if you can, I'm feeling down ...
While I was using iPhoto 5 I discovered there were many missing pictures. Thumbnails were there, but the full-sized images had disappeared. I tracked down most of the originals, and imported them into iPhoto 5 again. Everything seemed fine.
Now, when I upgraded to iPhoto 6, I rebuild my library to ensure everything would be where it belongs. I checked all the optional boxes, to be sure I would not lose those images again. Horrors! Out of 4,500 pictures in my library, approximately 450 full-size images are missing, even thought the thumbnails are still there. Is there an easy way to straighten out this mess, or do I have to track down each image on variouos back-up CDs and re-import them? Please tell me there is an easier way! I don't have that many "extra" hours.
On a related note, with iPhoto's new filing system, I have an excess of folders in my iPhoto library. There's the old folders by year-month-code, and new folders called Original & Modified. My images appear to be in both folders. Is it safe or wise to remove the old folders? Would that save any disk space?
Burned twice, hoping to avoid a third time ...
    -Jerry

    Dear Old Toad-
Thank you for your suggestion. I tried it, but it appears my problem were not related to permissions.
The further I investigated, the more problems I found with my iPhoto library. The most significant was missing images with intact thumbnails. Others included duplicate images in different folders, and duplicate libraries.
Finally, in desperation, I decided to go back to square one.
First, I searched for all images that were less than 1kb, and created a 10-page list of missing pictures. (That is, the metadata was there, but the images were gone.) Then I chose the library with the most intact images, and exported all to a desktop folder. Then I created a new iPhoto library, and imported 6,500+ images as one roll. Now I'm figuring out how to organize them so I can find the "special moments." Once this is done, I'll search my old back-up CDs for my missing images, and import them to my library.
I imagine there is a better way, but I could not figure it out. If you, or anyone else, does know a better way, please let me and other readers know. This problem may be more common than we think.

  • No picture with thumbnails

I've been having a problem with iPhoto and this is a new problem.
When I used to open iPhoto I saw all my pictures in thumbnail form, but for some reason I lost them all.
When I went to my Pictures folder in Finder I was able to get them back into iPhoto.
Now I see all the thumbnails back in iPhoto, but when I click on some of them I get an this !, an exclamation point instead of the picture I clicked on.
After I did this whole process I stupidly trashed all the original pictures thinking they were now back in iPhoto and that's probably why I get instead
    of the picture.
I went into Time Machine and thought I restored at least some of the photos, but I'm still getting .
I thought reinstalling iPhoto would help, but don't know how to reinstall it.
    Hope you can help.  Thanks.
    Peter

Well, I just got all my pictures back.  If you look on the upper right of this page and click on "iPhoto '11 All Photos Lost" and follow Old Toad's directions you'll restore all you photo's.  What a life saver.
You won't get all the data back, but at least you'll have your pictures.
    Thanks Old Toad.

  • I am importing a folder of pictures and they import the same picture?

    Hi,
I am importing a folder of pictures and the picture information is correct but the thumbnails are all the same picture. If I move the pictures onto the time line they are the same picture. I just upgraded from CS3 to CS5. I tried to update the program but it said that Premier Pro CS5 is up to date. I have tried different folders but they import various pictures with incorrect thumbnails and the pictures are wrong also? Is this a program error?

OK everyone, good news. I am not losing my mind
I resized them to 72 dpi at 640x480 (4:3 normal video as specified by the new project. They still do not import correctly under any of the conditions I listed above. This time, I also dragged them from Adobe Bridge to the bin I was working out of. FYI, 300 dpi at 720x480 is EXACTLY the same file size as 72 dpi 720x480. I also have been able to import onsie-twosie photos at full resolution and they auto-fit in the video frame.
I believe many of you were able to fix this problem with the re-sizing work-around, it did not work for me. I have a hard time believing resolution matters when the pixel dimensions are the same. this looks to me like a configuration issue or something wrong with the 64 bit only version for cs5. CS4 works fine on my virtual machine I created to test (this is how I resolved the issue and got my project done).

  • Aperture constantly generating previews and thumbnails and detecting faces

After starting Aperture or scrolling in the browser part of the Split View Aperture starts to generat previews and thumbnails and detecting faces, staling all my work in Aperture for a long time. After a while it is done, but start again if I start scrolling a lot in the browser or restarting Aperture. Aperture does not crash but it is it takes forever to work since it stalls everything. I can also se that after working for about ten minutes in Aperture almost all of my memory is gone. After a freshly restarted Mac I have about 13 GB of memory and after about ten minutes of work it is down to a few hundred MB. After closing Aperture I only get back about 8 GB of memory.
    I have tried the following:
    * Rebuilding thumbnails for all picture
    * Force rebuilding previews for all pictures (Holding down the Option key)
    * Reprocessed Originals for all pictures
    * Repaired permissions
    * Repaired database
    * Rebuilt database
    * Deleted aperture.plist file
All of the above completed without errors, but I still have the same problem. I also tried to un-check “Maintain Previews For Project” and “New projects automatically generate previews” but with no luck (This is off course not a solution but a workaround).
    What else can I do?
    I hav the following:
    - iMac, late 2009
    - 16 GB memory
    - Aperture 3.5.1 (Had the same problem in Aperture 3.4.5 and possibly even before)

Is Aperture more responsive, if you defer the generation of previews by holding down the Shift-key when launching Aperture?
Feels a bit better but still regenerating previews.
Also, have you checked, if Aperture is more responsive, when you are working with a different Aperture library?
I tried creating a new library in two different ways using all pictures from my project "2010" which I know contains pictures that Aperture keeps regenerating previews from. First I exported the project as a new aperture library, but when I opened that new library it also kept regenerating pictures. Next I exported all originals from that project and imported them in a new aperture library and success. No more regeneration of previews. But I don't think it is a solution because I have over 23 000 pictures in my library and I will loose all adjustments, stacks and faces doing this to the rest of the pictures.
As to running out of memory - there have been reports, that "On Screen Proofing" might be causing this, disable it (from the View menu), if it is turned on, see this post:  Re: Aperture 3.5 repeatedly crashes as 'memory full' despite 32GB RAM
"On Screen Proofing" was not on. But to be sure I tried to toggle the menu item but it did not get checked, until I understood that I had to select a Proofing Profile first. After that I selected and unselected "On Screen Proofing", but it did not help.
Do you use any Aperture plug-ins?
I had an old plug-in for exporting to Picasa which I don't think works anymore so I removed it, but it did not help.
Is your Aperture library referenced or managed?
    I have a managed library.
    And where is it stored?
The Aperture library is stored on my local hard drive in the shared directory. I hade plans to share it with other users on my computer but because of these problems I have not gone forward with those plans yet.
