Photo Stream does not do videos. For videos, you must import to your computer. You can use iPhoto to import them.

HT4505 I see my scanned picture in image capture but how do you get it to iPhoto?
I can see my scanned picture in image capture but how do you het it in iPhoto or on your desktop?
Hello:
It has options to "scan to..." If I scan using Image Capture, I scan it to the desktop (jpeg). If you want to get it into iPhoto, open iPhoto and import the picture.

How do I upload from a Sony HDR XR150E camcorder
How do I upload film clips from a Sony HDR XR150E camcorder with 16GB internal memeory. Supplied software is PC only. It has a USB and HDMI port. When I connect everything no icon appears on the desktop. I would just like to get it onto the computer and free up the memory to be able to use the camera again. I am running Final Cut Pro 6.06.
Don't know this camera, but on the panasonic hmc150 if you want to mount the cameras memory on the computer you have to push a button on the camera. I imagine there's something similar on your camera. You might try checking the manual.
Also, more than likely, the camera also has a function to delete clips or reformat the drive. -
How to upload pictures from a Sony Camera
I have a Macbook pro with Snow Lepoard and I have 2 digital cameras, one uses an SD card (not a sony) and I uploaded those pictures with ease. I am having trouble uploading my pictures from my sony memory stick, and have used the adapter and still the SD card slot does not let it in, or does not read it.
I am doing something wrong or are sony pictures just not compatible with a mac
thanks. You have an SD card slot adapter that takes Memory Sticks?
I would recommend getting a USB card reader for the job. It seems to me that there are at least two generations of Memory Sticks - make sure the adapter you have supports the Memory Stick generation you have. -
I've tried many different options including calling Apple Customer Support and talking to them for over an hour troubleshooting the issue. They couldn't do anything. I also called Sony who failed as well. Somebody please help me out. Thanks!
Hello whatif95,
Sorry to hear that you are having trouble importing video from your Sony HDR-CX550. I found an article that provides some information specific to your camera and iMovie '09:
iMovie: Importing both HD and SD content with Sony HDR series cameras
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1793
For versions previous to iMovie ’11 v9.0.1, including iMovie ’08, ’09, and ’11 (v9.0 only):
To import the AVCHD content from the camera when MPEG-2 content has also been recorded, you must first import and erase the MPEG-2 content from the camera. You should then be able to import the AVCHD content.
I hope this helps!
Best,

I am unable to download pictures from my Sony Cybershot to my iMac, I have tried using the USB port as well as simply inserting the memory stick into the slot. I have been able to do this in the past as recently as a few weeks ago.... Help please..
Thanks Eric for responding.
I checked and it does not appear in the Applications folder.
I tried yesterday on an ethernet connection with a download speed of 2 Mbps but, unfortunately the connection died(It happened from the ISP end, which is out of my control) in between after which there was no trace of the download that happened for so long(till the internet connection death).
One more serious query which I am unable to understand. If the internet connection, dies in the midst of the download is in progress why is it so that the state does not persist and one has to restart the entire process again. Is there no solution for this?
I tried so many times and its the same case after some amount of download it vanishes. So many unsuccessful attempts. I am ****** off now. Is it not possible to see Mavericks? Why does different machines of Apple behave differently? Somewhere it goes smoothly and somewhere like my mine. Why did not Apple release a non apple store version? Is this not a bad sign of letting the users struggle when something is being offered for free?
The reason I asked as whether we can download the .app of Mavericks is that, there are so many applications that I have downloaded web and have installed. All that works fine. Can't we do the same here? You download a copy of Mavericks installer application and upload it for me in Google drive or like online storage places which can be downloaded and used by me? Help me understand.
Thanks again. -
I uploaded pictures from a second camera and my iphoto created a second library, how do i get back to the first library? Can anyone help?
I have no idea what you did or what happened - but I can assure you that loading from a different camera does not create a new library
So you need to supply information and someone here will assist you in sorting this out and figuring out what you really did
What version of iPhoto do you have? What version of the OS? Why do you think that a second library has been created? What do you see when you launch iPhoto with the optipon kep depressed and use the select library option? Where is your iPhoto library normally?
Anything else you can tell us that might help?

My computer is no longer allowing me to import video from my Sony HDR camera.
My computer is no longer allowing me to import video from my Sony HDR camera. I don't know if it is the operating system or the version of imovie or what. I also have imovie 06 and I was always able to import into it and can no longer do that either.

This is probably due to a similar issue to a browser redirect. -

Importing HD from a Sony HDR-CX7
Apologies for this crazy question, but the last time I was using iMovie was over a year ago (version 08). There were two problems with importing HD footage from my Sony HDR-CX7: (1) iMovie didn't correctly compress it, and the file size(s) ended up being huge; (2) iMovie didn't handle the 5-channel audio correctly and I ended up with only 1 channel (iMovie 08 wouldn't mix down 5-channel to stereo correctly (on the fly)).
The way I dealt with the first problem was to spend thousands of dollars on external drives for storage of the files.
The way I dealt with the second problem was this: for every single clip I downloaded from my camera, I had to: export it to Quicktime, delete the clip in iMovie, fix the sound in Quicktime, re-import it back into iMovie.
Does anyone know if this stuff has been fixed?
Thanks for any info!Damon Curtis wrote:
Does anyone know if I can get the video off the card and into something like Quicktime without using iMovie?
I assume you are using AVCHD video... I have never used this format before, but I bet you could mount the disk on your computer and open the video files in something like MPEG Streamclip (free). You can then export it from that program how you wish. (Although exporting to Apple Intermediate Codec would probably be the fastest option for HD.)

Out of the box Iomega 1TB drive, I don't know how it is formatted. Just plugged it in an started using it.
You can mount the disk on your computer, then open Disk Utility. If you select the disk partition (partitions are indented), the disk format is on the bottom of the window along with other information. -
How can i take Better pictures from my Sony Cybershot DSC-HX9V like DSLR?Kindly Best Settings...
Taking better pictures on an HX9v isn't something you can just 'do'. It takes learning and creativity.
Understanding how the camera works, and having a good imagination to use it.
Look at phone cameras for example, amazing photos.
If you're talking about image quality, that is, less noise, crisp sharp photos, etc, compact cameras in general just won't match the DSLR.
If you're talking about photos that look stunning, again, learn how to use the camera, and be imaginative (creative)
I have a couple of articles to understand the basics to a camera (I really need to find the time to add more) on my website:
http://d3studio.com.au/
One thing I'm definitely lacking on there is composition, and that's something you can learn on YouTube - compositions in a photo is very important when you're first starting out.
Put your 9v onto M (manual) mode, and try out the different things - learn how the camera works, think about what you want to shoot, and then do it.
Good luck. -
i am having trouble with downloading videos from my Sony HDR-XR160 video camera. iMovie doesnt open up when i connect the camcorder. any suggesions?
Looking up your camera online, I found it is capable of 1920 x 1080 Full HD 60p Recording. It's the 60p (60 frames per second Progressive) that's the problem I think. iMovie '11 will do 60i (Interlaced). You might need to convert it from the format the camera currently uses into another format to get it into iMovie. Read more about it on this link here: How to import 60p footage From that message thread comes the recommendation to use ClipWrap to convert the camera's video clips now that they are in 60p:

Use ClipWrap to rewrap to QuickTime. Import the files. Edit in either 59.94 or 29.97. The latter if you want to use the high frame rate for slomo -
Problem with importing movies from my Sony HDR-SR5
Having trouble importing movies from my Sony HDR-SR5. The computer is reading HD camcorder but Iphoto is coming up and not Imovie. I don't have any still pics and SD movies. When I go into imovie camcorder does not show up. Any suggestions?
Did your "Camcorder" ever worked with iMovie? If so, what version were your running?
What version of iMovie are you currently running: iMovie 8.0.5 or iMovie 8.0.6?
What version of the OS are you currently running: 10.6.2 or 10.6.3? -
