Pictures in labview

Is there anyway to open a picture in labview without getting a white background square shape around it?

Hi recneps,
you should set transparency in your pictures. Using PNG may help too:
Using a PNG with proper transparency settings…
(Setting the picture indicator (or atleast its background) transparent may help too!)

  • Taking a picture in LabVIEW with USB camera

    Hello:
I am trying to find a way to use a Logitech USB camera (or potentially a different USB camera - perhaps a more expensive Edmund Optics camera) to snap a picture in LabVIEW. I have NI Vision software installed as well as the IMAQ USB extension for Vision, but I'm not sure where to go from here. All I need to be able to do is to snap a photo within LabVIEW and have LabVIEW save it onto the hard drive. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Brad

    Hi Brad,
Some of the information in the thread linked above may be out of date.
Check out this article [Acquiring Images in LabVIEW Using a USB or an IEEE1394 (FireWire) Camera] for some advice on how to snap your pictures. If you already have the NI-IMAQdx drivers, you should be able to use these for acquisition (as long as the USB camera is DirectShow compliant).
If you do not have the NI-IMAQdx drivers, but you do have the Vision Development Module you will be able to download the Vision Acquisition Software which includes these drivers. The vision acquisition software can be found here: http://www.ni.com/nisearch/app/main/p/bot/no/ap/tech/lang/en/pg/1/sn/catnav:du,n8:13.79.7820,ssnav:s...
    I hope this helps!

  • Why am in not getting a picture in LabVIEW?

The problem that I am having is that I get a picture in MAX but I do not get a picture in LabVIEW. I can't even get any information comming in on the U8 pixel readout. Nothing seems to come in. I don't know why. I have a KLI-2113 Tri-linear image sensor. It is a line scan camera. I can see that the IMAQ board is doing something because if I don't have it on and I try to start the VI "Acquire Image and Save Pixels Without Vision.vi", I get an error, no external pixel clock message. I know that it recognizes the board. I don't know why I get an image in MAX but not in LabVIEW. Can anyone help me out?

You mentioned that you are able to acquire images in MAX, but not LabVIEW. What type of images are you looking at? Are they 8-bit or 16-bit? The issue may be that the image comming in from your camera is 16-bit, so no info would be displayed for the U8 (8-bit). Try the attatched example and see if you have any better luck- It allows 16bit images as well. If your image comming in is 12, or 10 bits, it is still stored as a 16bit image, but it is stored as the lower bits, so it may be necisarry to shift the bits as well.

    Hello Tchaou,
Taking a look at the VI that you have attached, it appears
that you are only working with one image.
Are you acquiring the images in VBAI and passing the files through to
your LabVIEW code?  If you are acquiring
from both cameras in LabVIEW, first you will need to create two separate
buffers with unique names using the “IMAQ Create.vi”.
If you are using analog cameras with our 1409/1410 frame
grabber, I would take a look at the LL Scan Multiple Channels.vi in LabVIEW.  This can be found in the Example Finder using
the task search under Hardware Input and
Output >> IMAQ >> Low-Level folder. You should be able to
modify this example to fit your application.
If you are using firewire cameras you can use one of the
basic Grab/Snap examples for the IEEE1394 or IMAQdx driver and duplicate the
code for your second camera but remember to use a unique buffer name for this
second buffer.  I hope this helps.  Please let us know if you would like further clarification
    or assistance.

  • I have errors trying to get a picture with LabVIEW.

On the property node, there are a whole bunch of different choices that I can choose from if I right click the node. I know that the camera is capable of supporting up to 32 bits of pixel data. I have a PCI-1424 IMAQ card and a Kodak KLI-2113 board I changed the camera chice to Linescan but I don't know what to wire it to. I also tracked down some VI errors, but I don't know why they are happening They are in red. The main VI the Color Snap in picture control.vi goes has errors in the IMAQ Attribute.vi and the IMAQ Configure Buffer.vi. I mean there are errors all the way down, I just went to the 2 deepest Sub Vi's where I found the errors comming from. You have to click on the specific ones I s
ent you to see all info for those ones. For some reason it doesen't come up if you just go in the main VI the Color Snap in picture control.vi
Thanks for any help you can give me.

    Andrew,
I do get an image on MAX, and I don't know if the KLI-2113 board is supported by NI, but it works in MAX and with the Kodak board driver that I had. Even with the Cohu driver that is imported with the NI software, I can get an image on MAX but still do not get one through a VI. Any ideas?

  • Labview pda module: how can I resize image dynamically in an application?

    Hello every one,
I am currently working on the development of an application on a PDA (brand Nomad) and whose OS is Windows Mobile. So I am using the PDA module of Labview 8.6.My problem is the following one: in my application I would like to be able to load images (thanks to their path) in pictures indicators. I load images with the labview “function PDA Image File Load.vi” and then my problem is that images don’t fit with the size of the indicator, and so I am only able to see the left top corner of the image…Of course, I would like to see the entire picture, but I don’t know how I can modify or resize a picture with the PDA Module, where most of the property nodes (zoom factor, scrollbars…for picures) are not available.Has someone ever faced and fixed that problem?? Any help would be really appreciated!!   PS: Attached is one part of my application!

  • How to create an interactive rectangular grid in labview.

Hello everyone I want to create a grid in labview in which If I click in any block it should change colour and say it changes from intially white to red, than blue. And I want to save the data representing the colour like 0, 1, 2 , 3 to an array. Can anybody help me, where should I start with?? Can you please direct me towards any example.
    Solved!

Ah sorry, the posted VI has an array of pictures instead on an array of picture rings as I suggested. Thus my reply does not apply directly.
I recommend a array of picture ring indicators, since there is only a small set of possibilities.
You coulds use code similar to the one shown in the link of this post:
A full featured 4x4 Tic Tac Toe Game
Alternatively, you could make the entire grid as one big picture.

  • Problem in placing controls and indicator on imported pictures

    hi.
i have a problem in placing controls and indicator on imported pictures on labview front pannel.
when i place a control or indicator on imported picture ..the control or indicator don't stay at the top of picture but go behind the picture...
kindly tell me what to do to avoid this....as complete project has been made and now i have to place all controls and indicator of front pannel on to a picture.

The Front Panel is built in layers. Each new control or decoration you add is placed in the top most layer.
To change this, select the picture, click the "Reorder" button (that's the rightmost button in the row of buttons on the toolbar, the one with the 2 arrows forming a circle), and select Move to Back. Your picture will be moved to the background and your controls will be in front of it.

  • LabVIEW 8.5 high-speed camera

    Hi,
    I'd like to take many
high-speed images with a camera, and save them to a disk, or my computer's hard drive. I congfigure the camera (it is a Pulnix TM-6740cl camera) with the Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX.) I take the pictures with LabVIEW. I've found an example program in LabVIEW that is close to what I want; it was written by two members of this forum, N_Holmes and reut. The only differences between that program, and
the program that I'd like to run is that I need to be able to change
the shutter speed of the camera (although I believe that I can do this
with MAX), I'd like to be able to change the target
directory (for some reason, if I change the directory with the reut
program, the camera only takes 1 "frame" and stops), and I'd like to be
able to save a file for each frame taken by the camera (I can only get
the reut program to save 1 file.) I have LabVIEW version 8.5. If you
could help me out in any way, then that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi Bolin,
I'm using an NI PCI 1426 with NI-IMAQ, 18MB. Thanks for your previous help. I've actually worked on the program, and I got the camera to take multiple pictures. I also incorporated a part in the program that decodes the raw bayer image that this camera outputs.
I do have some other questions, though. First of all, I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "trigger." I use the computer to take the pictures; MAX configures the camera, and LabVIEW sends the signals to the camera to take the pictures, and then saves them on the computer. Also, I know this is probably a bad question, but I'm not 100% sure where in MAX I can look to find out what framerate I'm acquiring at. I'd like to acquire pictures at the camera's maximum framerate, which I believe is somewhere over 1000fps. I tried many different methods in order to capture at the maximum framerate, and the best option seemed to be at the settings: manual shutter, shutter setting 0, 4X4 binning. However, my pictures were of extremely poor quality, and they were very dark.
Also, where can I go in MAX to change the shutter speed? I've tried changing the shutter control setting and the shutter setting number; I just want to verify that this is correct.
Thanks again for your help! Once I can figure out how to make these pictures take at maximum speed, and at the best quality, then I can finally start on my project!

  • Import pictures to block diagram

    Hi,
I am having trouble figuring out how to import usable pictures for labview, when i insert the picture it only shows up in the front panel. I can not edit it, or use it in anyway. I need the picture to show up in the  block diagram too so i can work with it.
    Thanks

Read your PNG file into a picture indicator using the following simple code.
Now you can right-click the image terminal and turn it into a diagram constant. (Or create an indicator on the pink "image data" wire and turn it into a constant.

  • Display image in Labview

    Dear all!
Would you like to help me, it's urgent! Thanks a lot.
I have a trouble when inserting pictures into Labview front panel.  I write Labview to simulate like a racing car game, using DAQ kit, PCI 6259.
The program is ok. But, at first, I set the position for 2 cars according to the origin cordinate (0,0), eg. car1: (800,350) (for right side), car2:  (700,350) (for left side).  When I'm starting on the right side, it keeps the initial set position:  (800,350) of car 1. after that, I turn left, and the car2's position is (0,0).
If I started on the left side, it also like that. This means that the car 2 will be kept the initial set position: (700, 350), after turning right, the position of car 1 at this time is (0,0).
I have aldready checked, reseted position values after each loop and set again for 2 car positions. So, it can not run.
This is a simple program, just you while loop and if else condition.
Please help me, it's important for me in this month.
Thank you for your help. Hope to be replied soon!
    Best regards.

Thank you for your help! But now, I already fixed this problem. Because I forgot to connect wires for 1 of cases.
Now, I would like to ask how can I put the sound in the VI. Please, see the attached file, it only can run with 1 sound file. If I want to run 2 sound files in 2 cases, it has an error. Please help me!
Thank in advance! See you reply soon.

  • How do you rotate a Tiff picture without using Vision Development software?

    Hi:
Does anybody know how to rotate a TIFF picture in Labview if I don't have the complete Vision Development package?
I do have the limited Vision Acquisition software that allows me to do some basic manipulation but not rotate.
The pic is a binary string.
    Thanks

Especially easy are the simple rotations (90, 180, 270 degrees)
    see: http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&view=by_date_ascending&message.id=235791
But arbitrary rotations are not that hard either:
    see: http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=BreakPoint&message.id=748#M748
(you could even use bilinear interpolation for extra fidelity since the pixels don't map 1:1 for arbitrary rotations, , see http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&view=by_date_ascending&message.id=166566#M166566)
