Pl/sql and record groups

i am trying to populate a combo box with a record group. i have the following code:
BEGIN
POPULATE_LIST('LSTTEST','MODMAIN.RGPCBO');
END;
MODMAIN is the name of the form where the record group is.
the combo box is not displaying any records.
is there an easier way of doing this?

Instead of populating combobox manually,
do the following which is easier:
First create a block , create item which is combobox time and assign name of database column of which value has to be populated.
This will definetely solve ur problem...

Magoo, you don't ever need to use Select from Dual. And the loop is completely unnecessary, since Dual always returns only one record. This would be much simpler:

Hierarchical Tree Data Query/Record Group Question

I need help with Hierarchical Forms right now. I'm currently trying to implement a hierarchical tree to display the different items in different categories. I have been reading up on it for the past few days, and i do not understand a few things.
What is the difference between a data query and record group? they seem the same to me.
How does the XX = prior XXX work? i understand that this is what connects the parent to the child.
How do you determine what depth the node is? its done in the record group/data query, but how do i decide what level it is dynamically?

Thanks! I am unable to create a table specifically for the tree because i am using tables that have been ported live and are in use. My question about levels is how do I know which depth the node is. For example, i have a category called Information Technology and a category item called Business Informatics. I want to know how to decide that the Category(information technology) is on level 1 and the Item(business informatics) is on level 2.

And i do know how the Connect By XX = prior XXX works in the data query/record group.

Sql expressions in Forms 4.5 Record Groups

I have a record group that was asked to change, and when I change it I get an 'Unhandled exception error in icrg 102' and then a Frm-12001. I've tracked it down to a view that uses a function call to format a address line. If I put the function call in the Sql statement in the record group forms will not except the statment. I believe that the Record Groups were created in Forms 4.0.

Help: SQL to select closest points within groups of records grouped by time

I need help to find an SQL for efficient solution for the following problem:
- I have 20 buses circling on one bus route and their locations are reported every 10 seconds and recorded into a spatial table “bus_location” with “bus_loc” as SDO_GEOMETRY type.
- Each bus location record there has a msg_datetime column with the time when the location was recorded.
- Buses circle the bus route 8-12 times, from A to B, then from B back to A, then new loop from A to B, and so on.
- I have 3 timing points in spatial table “timing_point” with “tp_loc” as SDO_GEOMETRY type.
- A bus will pass each timing point 8-12 times in one direction and 8-12 times in the other direction, while making loops on the bus route.
My task is: for each timing point, for each bus, for each trip direction (A-B or B-A), find the closest bus location to that timing point.
Example:

I tried to use SDO_NN and I can get closest bus locations, but how to find the closest bus location for each pass? Or how to identify a groups of bus locations which are together within 2-3 minutes and to find closest record for each of these groups of locations?

Yes, the problem is one of analytics not spatial. Here is another go that should be independent of year/month/date/hour/minute
as it does all its math based on an absolute number of minutes since 1970. I round to 5 minutes but you could round/trunc to any
particular interval (5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes etc)

Creation of Record Group and LOV at run time

Hello All,
I have been stuck by this...I have two text items on which LOVs have been placed.Selection of one depends on selection of other.I can dynamically create a record group but how to create a LOV dynamically to populate it with the dynamic record group been created.
For more visualization consider that filtering of data takes place in one lOV based on the other LOV been provided.

I don't think you can create a LOV dynamically, but you can repopulate a pre-existing one, which should allow you to achieve the same goal.

Referencing Record Groups in a PL/SQL Library program unit

I want to move a program unit into a PL/SQL Library. I know how to reference data items from the form, but how do I reference a record group? Here's the code sample:

I tried creating the group the way you suggested but it does not seem to work because of 'UNION' in the query.It says unable to create rcord group.Did you anytime use the 'UNION' option while creating record group.
While creating record group at design time also you cannot use UNION with dual.

Static record group and lov problem

hi all,
1)I created a form module
2)created a basic datablock based on empno and ename from emp table.
3) created a static record group ,where i specified the column name as col1,provided the values as 1 ,2,3,4,5 etc
4) created an LOV and assigned the above record group to the LOV
5) then assigned the lov to the emp.empno item in the datablock emp....
when i run the form .....i get the list of values message on the console (bottom end of the window) ....
but I am not able to see the LOV when i press the cntrl L or see it from the edit menu command ?
what must be the problem ?

May be you don't set LOV's "Column Mapping Properties". After setting the properties correctly you will be able to display LOV.

Record Group and From-Clause Datasource

I need to do several complex queries (read-only) for my form. Original I used From-Clause datasource but, as the requirement changed, there are some limitations. I would rather no do anything dynamically if as all possible because there are over 20 such queries which makes the code difficult to maintain. I wanted to be able to reference block items in the query.
I'm thinking about using Record Group query instead. What are the differences in capability between Record Groups and From-Clause Datasource?

That's exactly the problem I have. I don't want to use LOVs so I've been thinking about how to visualize the record group data using data blocks. Perhaps I'll just go with dynamically building the From-Clause.
I've looked into stored procedure based blocks a bit; it was confusing for me. Are the stored procedures stored in the database or are they defined in the form?

Record groups and LOV

I have a question regarding LOV's.
I have 2 fields dept_code which is a checkbox and field2 which is an LOV displaying the employee names based on the dept_code selected.
My record group has a query like this -
SELECT empname FROM emp WHERE dept_code IN(:parameter.P_dept_code). p_dept_code is char.
If the user enters multiple department codes then my p_dept_code should contain commas and single quotes for each department like this ('m10','m20')
In which trigger do I do this coding and how do I do it?

The key-listval does'nt seem to firing.
When I run the form the lov comes up but displays the value 2 which is from the default record group(select 1 "dno", 2 "ename" from dual).

Recording, grouping and playing an action...I am stumped!

First I will start by mentioning I am working with CS6. Recently I have been recording a few actions that I like to run on a lot of my photos. Before I am done recording these actions I like to group them. Here is where the problem comes into play however...First time I play the action it shows up perfectly in the layer panel. The 2nd,3rd attempt an so on, the action that is grouped (the same action or another grouped action) will show up all jumbled in the layers panel. Sometimes the adjustment layers show up outside of the group while others the group appears to have "eaten" the first group of actions I ran. Am I missing something why cant I stack the actions I have written?

SCOM 2012 R2 Management Servers and SQL Server Availability Groups

My team is in the middle of rolling out a brand new install of System Center Operations Manager 2012 R2.
I have set up a SQL Server Availability group that is spread across multiple subnets and installed the initial management server per
here.
As I have gone through attaching new management servers, I have noticed disturbing behavior. When the AG fails over to another node, the management servers will lose connectivity unless I either recycle the service or it fails back to the original
node. This is not a security issue as I have set up permissions. It says it cannot connect to the database anymore at all.
Has anyone else seen this behavior? Is there a setting I am missing somewhere?

Disabling Sound Devices (Playback and Recording) via Group Policy?

I am using an HT-Omega Claro II soundcard which has multiple playback and recording options once installed. For this specific configuration, I want to be able to disable all the unwanted options (including things like the standard PC speakers) in such a
way that only an administrator can make modifications to the available devices. Is there a way to do this via a GPO? I know that via the Sound control panel I can (and have) disable the options I do not want to be available, but there are some users who are
saavy enough to be able to find them and re-enable, which is creating problems for some of the applications that need to be used.
Any input on how to rectify this is greatly appreciated.

I dont think there are sound specific GPO's. If you want to disable the sound, you can disable the sound service from GPO :

Strange Problem in dynamically list population with record group

I am dynamically populating a single list with 2 record groups. I am having a strange problem. All the code are written in 2 seperate buttons. The code of every button is given below.
Button 1 code:-

The code is same here only the sql is different in these 2 buttons. Now the problem point.
when i press button 1, I get the list populated ok. when i try to click on the list item and keep the button pressed the list gets scrolled properly.
when i press button 2 after that i get account names well populated in the same list item as well, but this time, when i keep the button pressed the list does not scroll below as in button 1. It does not even allow to select different item from the list of button 2 code.
I tried to clear cache, cookies, exit browser everything and try to run the button 2 first, but still the problem in button 2 code.
Following are my system details.
windows 7 professional edition.
Oracle database 11g on windows 7
Oracle forms 10g patchset 10.1.2.0.2 on windows 7
Browser Netscape Navigator with oracle jinitiator 1.3.1.22
But this form is run by a client side html file where oracle forms 10g is not installed on windows xp. html file is just referring server url to run the module. The file is run on Netscape navigator browser with oracle jinitiator 1.3.1.22
My question is that is this a bug ? if button 1 gets the list item scrolled, why is the problem with button 2 even though i press it first. Here I am deleting the record group also. after the code is over. Initially I thought this may be the character length problem so I took the maximum character length for that list item as given by the 2 columns in database.
Why is the list scrolling not happening in button 2 but in button 1 with same codes on both ?
Anybody please help me.

The problem is the second query. I would guess that the TO_CHAR(co) is not unique for each account, but is the same for the accounts. And as the second item in the select-list is the listitems values, all your listitem-entries have the same value. therefore, of you select any entry, the list will always go the the first entry again.
Adjust your query.
