PL/SQL report errors: ORA-01422
Hi all,
(before i you read i would like to say i have searched the net for this error code but nothing shows up like this problem..)
I am getting an error problem when i select certain Schemas from a list on an apex app. page, it only works for some schemas not all..
When i select one schema, it is supposed to display one row.. when i select [ALL] it is supposed to show them all.
It does work if i select '[ALL]' from the select list (p3_schema_name), just not for every single individual one.
the error code:

Hello Ashleigh,
Based on your code, I'd start by running this piece of SQL via command-line (thru SQL Workshop, SQL*Plus, Toad, etc.), replacing &P3_SCHEMA_NAME. and &P3_DB_NAME. with values that are currently causing the routine to fail and see if it returns more than one row. I don't know your data, but DISTINCT and GROUP BY are typically used to return multiple (though grouped/summarized) rows. It appears to be the only statement that would cause the error your seeing (more than one row being returned into single variables).
select distinct DDH_DB_NM, max(DDH_SCHEMA_NR)keep(dense_rank last order by ddh_runstart_td) AS "PATCH" from &P3_SCHEMA_NAME..ddl_log@&P3_DB_NAME.db_link GROUP BY DDH_DB_NM;I'm actually surprised that the code runs at all. I didn't think 'execute immediate' would know what to do with substitutions indicated as "&something." (I've typically seen that when substituting in dynamic HTML/Javascript code but maybe I'm learning something new). But since you already have vServer2 and vSchema2, I'd be more apt to code it as:
vStmt2 := 'select distinct DDH_DB_NM, max(DDH_SCHEMA_NR)keep(dense_rank last order by ddh_runstart_td) AS "PATCH" from ' ||
vSchema2 || '.ddl_log@' || vServer2 || '.db_link GROUP BY DDH_DB_NM';Hope this helps,
John

PL/SQL function body returning SQL - report error:ORA-01403: no data found
Hi,
I am working on Application Express 4.0.2.00.06, and 11G database.
I have a problem with classic report area of type - PL/SQL function body returning SQL query. Query works if I define region area as - Use Generic Column Names (parse query at runtime only), and does not when I define it - Use Query-Specific Column Names and Validate Query.
I am getting error:
report error:ORA-01403: no data found
This is my query that is returned from function, and displayed with htp.p, and it works ok and returns data in SQL Developer and SQL Workshop (in Apex).

As you can see, I even tried with workaround that I found on the previous post on the forum, and that is to put /* select 1 from dual */ to start query.
Any help would be appriciated./* select 1 from dual */ SELECT SIFPRO, NAZIV, VODITELJ, DATPZA,SUM(DECODE(TJEDAN,'2010/46',BRDJEL,null)) as "2010/46" ,SUM(DECODE(TJEDAN,'2010/49',BRDJEL,null)) as "2010/49" ,SUM(DECODE(TJEDAN,'2010/50',BRDJEL,null)) as "2010/50" ,SUM(DECODE(TJEDAN,'2010/51',BRDJEL,null)) as "2010/51" ,SUM(DECODE(TJEDAN,'2010/52',BRDJEL,null)) as "2010/52" ,SUM(DECODE(TJEDAN,'2011/01',BRDJEL,null)) as "2011/01" ,SUM(DECODE(TJEDAN,'2011/02',BRDJEL,null)) as "2011/02" ,SUM(DECODE(TJEDAN,'2011/03',BRDJEL,null)) as "2011/03" ,SUM(DECODE(TJEDAN,'2011/04',BRDJEL,null)) as "2011/04" ,SUM(DECODE(TJEDAN,'2011/05',BRDJEL,null)) as "2011/05" ,SUM(DECODE(TJEDAN,'2011/06',BRDJEL,null)) as "2011/06" ,SUM(DECODE(TJEDAN,'2011/07',BRDJEL,null)) as "2011/07" ,SUM(DECODE(TJEDAN,'2011/08',BRDJEL,null)) as "2011/08" ,SUM(DECODE(TJEDAN,'2011/09',BRDJEL,null)) as "2011/09" ,SUM(DECODE(TJEDAN,'2011/10',BRDJEL,null)) as "2011/10" FROM (SELECT * FROM PMV_PLAN_TVRTKA) GROUP BY SIFPRO, NAZIV, VODITELJ, DATPZA ORDER BY SIFPRO, NAZIV, VODITELJ, DATPZA

It is difficult to tell you the exact solution with the given information.
please create a sample on apex.oracle.com that helps us to investigate the problem and give you appropriate solution.

I have a form which uses a customer form/report, drop downs etc..
the debug shows it running this statement
...Execute Statement: begin begin SELECT distinct initcap(RTRIM (LTRIM (e.surname, ' *0123456789-/:.?,'), ' *0123456789-/:.?,') || ', ' || RTRIM (LTRIM (e.first_name, ' *0123456789-/:.?,'), ' *0123456789-/:.?,' )) empname, e.ID bulk collect into wwv_flow_utilities.g_display,wwv_flow_utilities.g_value FROM dms.dms_employees@dmsprd e, dms.dms_employee_contracts@dmsprd ec WHERE e.ID = ec.emp_id and e.surname like '%%' AND :p75_date BETWEEN ec.start_date AND NVL (ec.end_date, :p75_date) AND e.brh_id = 3654 ORDER BY 1; end; end;
Then says
"report error: ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small"
Any Ideas?

A select list is limited in size. I am not sure what the limit is but that is definitelly the case.The maximum size for the HTML generated for a select list is 32K.
86 options sounds on the low side to be hitting that limit, but there are other concerns to this as well. Scrolling through hundreds/thousands of options in a select list is a pain for users, and huge select lists produce bloated pages that impact load times and network bandwidth. That list of around 200 countries you find on many sites is about the sensible maximum length for a select list.
You should use popups.Indeed. -
The oracle application express environment is created by installing the HTTP Server on the windows server and the application express 3.2.1 components on the 11.1.0.7 oracle database on UNIX. The installation is successfully and have not seen any issues during the installation. After completing all the steps, when tried to login and click the application builder or workspace components, I see the error message
report error:ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character to number.
This error message is seen on most of the pages when trying to accessed and not able to understand the reasons behind it. Its a brand new environment setup and not even presented to developers to test it.
Below error message is always seen when trying to access most of the components like application builder, schema comparison and some other tabs. Please advice

Edited by: user589320 on Jun 9, 2011 5:17 PMI think its better you use APEX 4.x version ratherthan using old version.
You will get more features and some bug fixes and also it's easy for you to get some help when you need.

We face the above error in HTMLDB (APEX) application Ver 3.1.0. This occurs when we try to display more number of rows/records in drop-down list (LOV in tabular forms). We are able to display 200 records in LOV. When the list of records exceeds 230, we face the below error
report error:ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
the values listed in LOV are from tables (one of the columns in table)
Could anyone give us a solution?Hi
As you are using a tabular form, you could actually do the following:
1 - In the tabular form column's attributes, set the following:
Display as: Select List (query based on LOV)
Display extra values: Yes
List of values definition: SELECT null d, null r FROM DUAL
2 - Add a new page item and set it to generate your select list
3 - Create an HTML region with no template and use the following for its source:
<script type="text/javascript">
function loadList(c, l)
var s = document.getElementsByName(c);
var lItem = document.getElementById(l);
var lLength = lItem.options.length;
var k;
var j;
var x = lItem.innerHTML;
var v;
var o;
var z;
for (k = 0; k < s.length; k++)
z = s[k];
v = z.value;
z.options.length = 0;
for (j = 0; j < lLength; j++)
o = new Option()
o.value = lItem[j].value;
o.text = lItem[j].text;
z.options[j] = o;
z.value = v;
if (z.selectedIndex == -1)
z.selectedIndex = 0;
loadList("f05", "P1_MGR");
</script>
(Change "f05" and "P1_MGR" as appropriate to your column and your new page item respectively)
Now, when you load the page, the select list contains a null entry plus the entry already on the database. The javascript kicks in automatically, loops through every entry in the "f05" column, copies the existing value, replaces the select list with the new page item version and sets its value to the copied value.
Your new page item could be in a DIV tag that has a style of "display:none" to hide it from view.

Hi everybody,
I have two Distinct Databases on two distinct servers. (Oracle Ent. Release 10.2.0.3.0 on AIX 5.3). After I install the latest patch last week, One of the APEX installation has some problems on Home>Application Builder Page. The error message is very random and
report error:
ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: NULL index table key value.
When i change the view (details to icons), everything goes to normal. This error message is reflected some of the pages (report region) of some of my applications randomly. When it appears in a report region, i deselect the order method of the region, the result is normal.
But the other APEX application on the other instance has no problem. It is a bug? or Should i re-install the APEX instance?
Thank you for your interest?

PLSQL function body returning an sql report returns ORA-01403 No Data Found
I am on APEX 3.1.2.00.02 and Oracle 10g.
I am developing a report with SQL Query (PL/SQL function body returning SQL query) type. But on running the report I am getting
report error:
ORA-01403: no data found
Region Source
declare
qry varchar2(32767);
begin
--Procedure call
my_pkg.get_query(qry);
htp.p(qry);
return /*select 1 from dual */ qry;
end;
Procedure
PROCEDURE get_query (V_QRY OUT VARCHAR2)
IS
qry varchar2(32767);
begin
qry := ' select name
, max(decode(to_char(service_date,''Mon-YY''), ''Jan-09'', value, null)) as "Jan-09"
, max(decode(to_char(service_date,''Mon-YY''), ''Jan-09'', value, null)) as "Feb-09"
from MY_TABLE
group by name ';
V_QRY := qry;
end;
The query will be enhanced later to add more months and year based on user parameters once I am successfull in running report on this.
I wish to use Query Specific Column names. I have seen this suggestion from Scott in a number of threads to use /*select 1 from dual */ with query but not working in my case.
Can someone please suggest what can I do to make it working?
Regards,
AmirFirstly, have you unit tested the procedure (namely, within the SQL Workshop, SQL*Plus, SQL Developer,etc, etc.) to see if it produces the right output in the first place?
If you have, and the query string generated is valid, try assigning the output to a page item (thus allowing you to view it in the session browser) or even pass the procedure output into the debug window (with the use of the wwv_flow.debug function). This might reveal some state or session change which is causing it not to return.You might find this easier to achieve if you change from a 'procedure and out parameter' combination to a 'function returning string' approach.
Alternatively, try re-creating the report in a new region - occasionally I've come across weird bugs with report regions which resolved themselves in this manner. -
Report error:ORA-06502:character string buffer too small. urgent!!
Hi guys,
My APEX version is 3.0.1.00.08, my application run on my test environment, but on PROD environment, it raised the error:
report error:
ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
In this page, on the left is a tree, the right side is a tabular form, when I click one tree node, it will pass the current node id to the form and the form will display the children data. When I click some tree node, it will raise the ORA-06502 error, but when click some other nodes, it is correct. I don't know why. And on my test environment, it has no this error, the test environment has same version with prod environment, only has less data in database. Could you help me???
I searched in forum, someone says it's LOV problem, if it's LOV problem, all the nodes should have error, why click some nodes are ok?
Thanks !
JessicaI don't think it is related only to the number of rows but also to the content of the rows. So, counting only the number of rows doesn't say anything about if it is going to work or not. My question: can't you filter those entries? Making a choice between 250 entries in a tabular form isn't a simple task. Using popup-key LOV instead would also be a solution. However, if you use popup-key LOV be aware of the fact that you need two index numbers for those.

Report error: ORA-01403: no data found.
Hi,
I was getting a following error and not able to figure it out.
Here what I have:
I have a page where I have 3 regions and out of them, there are 2 Html conditional regions
and one SQL updatable report. Also, I have a validation to validate a field on the tabular form
based on one field on the HTML region. The validation works fine but it also throws following error :
report error: ORA-01403: no data found.
Code:

v_office_id number;

SELECT count(id) into v_office_id from dar_asd.asd_office;
if (:P299_ROLE_TYPE_ID = 1 and apex_application.g_f30.COUNT = v_office_id ) or
(:P299_ROLE_TYPE_ID = 2 and (apex_application.g_f30.COUNT < v_office_id
and apex_application.g_f30.COUNT >= 1) ) then
return null;
else
RETURN 'Error: '||'Not a valid office selection.';
end if;
EXCEPTION
WHEN NO_DATA_FOUND THEN
RETURN 'Error: '||SQLERRM;
end;
Thanks.Marc,
Thanks for the reply.
It is derived columns i.e. Use Query-Specific Column Names and Validate Query. The select statement returned by the stored procedure function will allways have all list of columns in select list. But the report displays allways some fixed number of columns in the secod region and remaining will be dependent on the check boxes and lov items selected in the first region. For e.g. if the select has 20 columns. Out of this, let's say 8 will allways displayed and remaining 12 will be displayed depending on the check box and lov items defined for them in the first region. I mean if 3 check boxes are checked and if the user selected some value from lov for the corresponding check box items, then the report will display 8+3 = total 11 colums. And the lov values selected will be used in the where condition of the SQL.
How can I go to the report attributes? I can go to page definition, but I am not finding report attributes here. Please let me know...
Thanks,

Report error: ORA-20001: Error fetching column value
Hi,
I try to build a tabular form with 1 column as "Select List (Query based on LOV)". This select list should display round about 1.100 rows in the LOV ordered by name. So I got the error: report error:
ORA-20001: Error fetching column value: ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numerischer oder Wertefehler: character string buffer too small
When I try tho define this column as Popup LOV (Query based LOV) only the the ID of the attribute and not the display value appeares in the row. The LOV it self displays the display number and not the the ID. I want to see the display value in the column of the particular row and the LOV and return the ID to the record by insert or update as it is normal in LOVs of form regions.
This lot of rows in the LOV is necessary because it is a part to develop formulas like (number_of_acquisitions - number_of_old_parts)/100 or so. The most formulas will be more complex. In the database there should only be the ID as reference to the attributes.
Please help me to display the attribute bases on LOV in every particular row.
Thank you
SiegwinIn Apex 4 there is now a column type "Popup Key LOV (named LOV)" which is exactly what you are looking for.

SQL*LOADER ERROR 비교 (ORA-2359, ORA-1401)
==========================================
PURPOSE
SQL*LOADER 를 사용하는 경우 ORA-2359 ERROR가 나는 경우와
ORA-1401 ERROR가 나는 경우를 비교한다.
Examples
table 의 desc가 다음과 같다고 가정하자.
SQL> create table test5(a varchar2(1000));
이 경우 delimiter 가 comma 인지 position 으로 구분되는지에 따라 error
message가 달리 나타난다.
1) ORA-2359 : field in datafile exceeded maximum specified length
load data
infile test.dat
replace
into table test5
fields terminated by ','
(a char) 로 실행 시 발생.
---> a char(1000) 으로 하면 error 해결이 가능하다.
2) ORA-1401: inserted value too large for column
load data
infile test.dat
replace
into table test5
fields terminated by ','
(a position(1:2000) char)
---> 이 경우 a position (1:1000) char 로 하면 해결 가능하다 .
* 참고로 + , - 기호와 comma 를 load 하기 위해서는 decimal external을
사용한다. (a position decimal external (10))
