PL/SQL using google translator
Hi All,
we have oracle 10g 10.2.0.4 version.
we have a requirement wherein we need to pass a description in english and translate it to some 10 languages. For example we will be passing a word HELLO and i need to get it translated it into french,spanish,italian,german,finnish,polish,greek etc.,
Is there any way in PLSQL to do this? we already did some googling and found some topics on this. But couldnt understand those clearly.
So is there any way which exists already to do this? Or can we do this translation within database itself? like no need to disturb google translator instead use nls_lang in our db?
Regards,
Paul

Will I be able to use Google translate app in France? Can I just access Internet abroad? Any directives?
You can check if the app does require internet by going into airplane mode or turning off WiFi and re launching the app. If it does not work, google "offline translater app for iOS".

Since ios 7 I can no longer use google translate in safari. I use this page every day to translate friends Facebook entries. Anyone else having this problem? And is there a fix? Currently it is in my bookmark bar beside Facebook and worked fine until I upgraded top ios 7 a few days ago.
Go to your Google translate bookmark.
Type in a word then tap whatever language.
Make a select for the language to be translated to by tapping Dutch (or whatever language you see in the box all the way to the right. You should see a language menu. -

Cut and paste from Google Translate = garbage
I translated an English paragraph into Japanese using Google Translate. It pasted as little boxes instead of letters in ID4. Can you help?
Thread locked in favor of Cut and paste from Google Translate, which was posted at the same time and has more answers.

Cut and paste from Google Translate

InDesign won't tell you what languages are supported by which fonts. If you tell me what OS you are using, I can tell you what fonts are installed generically by your OS that support these languages. IN CS4, you got a few free fonts that support East Asian languages:
Trad Chinese - AdobeMingStd-Light.otf
Korean - AdobeMyungjoStd-Medium.otf
Simplified/Mainland Chinese - AdobeSongStd-Light.otf
Simplified/Mainland Chinese - AdobeKaitiStd-Regular.otf
Simplified/Mainland Chinese - AdobeFangsongStd-Regular.otf
Also, Myriad Pro will give you Vietnamese support - among many other fonts, but that one is a pretty safe bet.
BUT, if you think that Google Translate is going to give you readable text in all these languages, then you are in big trouble. In particular, the Korean and Japanese are likely to be pretty useless to your readership. Also, your Japanese almost certainly has incorrect line breaks - kind of like incorrect hyphenation in English. (Actually, word breaks in the middle of words without hyphenation would be a better analogy.)
I hope that nobody who can't read English needs to use your document. -
Google translation and navigation issue
I recently created a website for a lawyer. Instead of creating 2 sites (1 in english and 1 in German) we went the cheaper route and just used Google translation to keep it simple understanding it isn't a perfect translation. However, when it translates the there is a few tabs in the navigation that get screwed up. I suspect it is something in my design that I am missing. Can anyone tell why this would be happening?
www.petersonlawhawaii.com (click on the german flag and let it translate and you will see the navigation get screwy)
Thanks!90% of browser rendering problems are caused by malformed code. You have a few errors on your page worth fixing.

To simplify things, you may wish to combine styles into one styles.css file.
Example, you have this embedded style in your HTML document between comment tags:
<!--
@import url("styles.css");
#wrapperbackground #outerWrapper #header .clearFloat #links2 {
color: #FC6;
#wrapperbackground #outerWrapper #header .clearFloat #links2 h2 marquee {
font-family: Times New Roman, Times, serif;
body,td,th {
font-size: 14px;
-->
Why don't you consolidate the green code into your style.css like so?
#links2 {color: #FC6;}
marquee {font-family: Times New Roman, Times, serif;}
body,td,th {font-size: 14px;}
And change the @import URL to a stylesheet link like this:
<link href="styles.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen" />
Oh, yeah. And remove the comment tags b/c you don't need them.
<!--
-->
And when you have a spare moment, take a look at CSS shorthand:

Question about Google Translator with flags for BC website
Hello
I am looking for a solution for my website , I am using Business Catalyst as platform to create the website. I am looking for simple one code/plugin/HTML solution which I can copy paste in the website for the translation. I want to put google translator with flags on my website in the top right hand side. I want to translate my website in 9 languages and want to put 9 country flags on the top right hand side, which translate languages on click event on "same page" , I want the translation must take place at the same page after clicking on the flag. How-ever I successfully integrated google translate with dropdown option but want to integrate google flag translations on my website.
Please let me know what can be done here.
Regards'Don't use google translate, it's the worst user experience you can ever give a user and makes the site look like it was designed by a 12 year old with a grammer problem. Machine translation is no were near anything good for a production website currently and even more so for non latin languages like Japanese, Chinese, Korean etc.
Case and point, throw a few lines of text into google translate, then reverse the translation back to english, you'll see my point. -
Have a issue with Google Translator in my website
Hello I am using google translator on the top of my website to translate the website in various languages but whenever I click on the translator and try to translate it into for example Arabic/Japanese/Hindi and other languages, it don't translate the whole page, it only translate few words, why is like this , kindly let me know and solve this issue please.
Google translate is the world's worst user exerience anyone can put on a website, machine translations are about 50% of the way to actually being readable. I strongly recommend NOT using them. They make sites look very amature.
Just put into google translate
"the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog"
Translate to japanese, cut n paste and translate back to english
"Brown fox jumps over the lazy fast dog"
Now imagine that with import client data. -
I am asking you this because I did not find this problem in any of the other browsers I have (chrome, opera, ie, safari).
I uploaded a simple html file to show this problem here: http://rvyu.com/mKLG
Notice that if you don’t change the language you have no problem changing the value in the select element (the original one with 3 options, not the one generated by google translate) but if you do when you switch values the selected one does not show up.Ok thank you so much, for your timely response.
RESPONSES:
1) When I set up my iMac, I did not transfer any data directly from my windows PC. I simply used the same iTunes login and account. I have access to all of the files via the "Purchased" section of the iTunes store. If I click "Download Previous Purchases" text, I can download ALL of the purchases I have ever made.
2) I have the Apple TV 2, so good news, question answered. I thought maybe it was the Apple TV 1, but it is the Black model, so bam. Good response for you. Well the whole damned reply is an awesome response, just pointing out that one piece of awesome. I stated that it was an Apple TV 2, and yet you were still good enough to figure I could be mistaken, and provide me with knowleedge just incase.
QUESTIONS:
3) So can my iMac not stream the data directly from itunes, without download? Apple TV can, but perhaps that is something among many things that maker it unique, and awesome.
SERIOUSLY.... THANK YOU...
I work in the computer support section for the Military. The only problem is we use Windows , lol. Well that and i've been gone for nearly 6 months on recover. I go back next month though I hope. But working in that field gives me the abilty to judge responses that run inside the same vein. Your response was so awesome that I half thought I might have written it myself. -

Calling google translate from PLSQL using HTTPURITYPE
Hi All,
I am calling Google Translate URL from a Select query as below. This is to convert from English to Vietnamese.
SELECT REGEXP_SUBSTR(tr,'<span id=result_box class="short_text"><span[^>]*>(.*)</span></span>',1,1,'i',1) translated_value
FROM (SELECT httpuritype('http://translate.google.com/?hl=en&layout=1&eotf=1&sl=en&tl='||'vi'||'&text='|| UTL_URL.escape('My text to be converted')|| '#').getclob() tr
FROM DUAL);
The expected result is: (Checked on google.com/translate from web and in the page source the charset was UTF-8)
Văn bản của tôi được chuyển đổi
What I got it is: (Checked the clob returned by httpuritype and the charset was ISO-8859-1)
Văn bản của tôi được chuyển đổ
Please, any help on getting the expected result

How do i get rid of the google translator that keeps poping-up
i dont need a translator for my pages but it seems that google
has forced one on us. I dont have google toolbar installed and google translator is not to be found anywhere in options or other...
But i know for sure that it is javascript, if i turn java off, it gets rid of it but also prevents me from using other pages that use java.
Anyway around this ?????????
ThanksSome pages have a translator embedded in the page code that might get triggered by the ''fr'' in the user agent.
