PL/SQL web services - WSDL file generation weirdness

Hi there,
I am using JDeveloper 11.1.1.3.0 to generate web services from PL/SQL packages.
I noticed a strange behavior regarding the generated xmlns mappings in the WSDL file. Sometimes it is generated like this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<wsdl:definitions
name="CSOHSServices"
targetNamespace="http://apps/CSOHSServices.wsdl"
xmlns:wsdl="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/"
xmlns:tns="http://apps/CSOHSServices.wsdl"
xmlns:tns0="http://apps/CSOHSServices.wsdl/types/"
>
<wsdl:message name="CSOHSServices_getAssetsIwResponse">
<wsdl:part name="result" type="tns0:XxpoCsoHsAssetRecUserArray"/> <==== HERE
</wsdl:message>
...Then, if I re-generate the web service, without changing anything, it is generated like this:
<wsdl:message name="CSOHSServices_getAssetsIwResponse">
<wsdl:part name="result" type="tns:XxpoCsoHsAssetRecUserArray"/> <==== HERE
</wsdl:message>
Note that instead of tns0 the type attribute now points to tns.
I have other code that relies on the xmlns mappings and I have to keep changing it to reflect what is generated. This is driving me crazy!
Any explanation why this happens and/or how to fix it so the WSDL is always generated the same way?
Thanks
Luis

Thanks for your answer, Timo.
After briefly googling the term ojdeploy I found out that it is a utility for "building and deploying applications via the command line without starting JDeveloper" - exactly what I need actually.
What I have just tried is to create a build.xml from my project. It worked. In build.xml I found information like compile java source file and copy to a certain directory. I have already seen similar information in .jpr and .jws (how a WAR is created, what are the names of deployment descriptors, how the war is packaged to EAR and so on).
But the starting point of my development are not the java sources but a pl/sql package -> the java sources and deployment descriptors are created by Jdev like described in the first post. Still, I haven't found an ant task for creating java and deployment descriptor from pl/sql package (don't know if it works also with pl/sql sources?).
(1) Could you please provide a hint where to search for all ant tasks shipped with jdev? Or I rather expect that those ant tasks are generated depending on user input...
(2) Is there an ant task for the function pl/sql to java like described in the first post? Just noticed that in jdev 11.1.2.3 the name of the dialog differs that in the first post -> first post referencing 11.1.1.6. In 11.1.2.3 the name is "Publish as JAX-RPC Web Service..." when right-clicking on a DB package.
(3) If there is no such ant task and jdev is doing the magic internally via a java class, is it a way to call such a function via console? I assume a shipped jar needs to be unzipped...
Thanks in advance for any hint.
Kind regards,
Anton

• Web Service WSDL File Generation

hello everybody, I have an outbound interface with sender soap adapter to work as a web service, I tested it by generating the wsdl file in the integration directory, and I tested it with altova xmlspy and it works really fine, but now I have a problem another aplication needs to call the webservice, but when they try to import the wsdl file it turns out that in their system they can only import rpc files and not document style files, is there a way to generate a RPC file from an xi interface, or is there a third tool to do this conversion, or what needs to be done, has anyone found this problem before??? thanks in advance.

Hi ,
As far as I am aware of ...
3 SOAP encoding styles are there :
SOAP Remote Procedure Call (RPC) encoding, also known as Section 5 encoding, as defined by the SOAP 1.1 specification and later defined in SOAP 1.2 as RPC encodings and conventions
SOAP Remote Procedure Call Literal encoding (SOAP RPC-literal,) uses RPC methods to make the call but uses an XML do-it-yourself method for mar-shaling the data.
SOAP document-style encoding, also known as message-style or document-literal encoding.

• Web Services wsdl file

I am creating a web service from LabVIEW 2009, but I need a wsdl file to be able to query from the client end.
Does LabVIEW 2009 allow me to create one automatically?
If not can anyone help point me in the right direction for creating one.
A.

punkmonkey: Could you explain what you mean?
Currently LabVIEW still creates a WSDSC file which really doesn't conform to the WSDL standard.
This is primarily due to the fact that our websites are based on RESTful architecture, where as you would likely need to be SOAP based in order to get a WSDL file.

Hi Rama,
I used JAX-RPC with WSDp 2.0 first i created my interface then implemented class then i have used the wscompile to generate wsdl. then i packed with jaxrpc-ri and web.xml in a war file, this raw war file i used to generate my original final war with the help of wsdeploy command.
I deployed this file on tomcat its showing the service but while clicking on wsdl link it throws the above exception.
Please let me know any thing else u want to know i can fwd my sample war file also to u.

• Testing PL/SQL Web Service Error

I've generated a web service using JDev 10.1.2, ran it in the embedded OC4J Server. I then generated a stub to test it with, browsed to the web service wsdl file in the original project, and ran the stub. The stub project returns the error:
SOAPException: faultCode=SOAP-ENV:Protocol; msg=Unsupported response content type "text/html", must be: "text/xml". Response was:
<HTML><HEAD><TITLE>500 Internal Server Error</TITLE></HEAD><BODY><H1>500 Internal Server Error</H1><PRE>java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError:
I'm not sure what I should be looking for to track this down. Is it a bug in my stub, or in my web service? In order to keep things simple, the stored procedure only takes a few strings, and I've double-checked the values and order of parameters I'm passing. Anybody have any ideas?

I got this figured out, just blew away my projects
and started over, and it worked. Now that I've got
it working in a test environment, how do I get it
into production? Is Oracle's AS the only AS you can
use to deploy a PL/SQL web service?The OrindaBuild Plugin for JDev 10.1.2 writes Java classes to run PL/SQL that work with Apache Axis 1.1 and should work with almost any web service toolkit.

• PL/SQL web service: question about stub

hello,
I'm currently learning how to work with PL/SQL Web Services.
I have a question about stubs. The point is, I can deploy a web service to the OC4J server and it works. It also works when I create a stub following the WSDL I made with creating the PL/SQL web service. If I go to the endpoint in my webbrowser, the functionality is the same, with or without using a stub.
My question is: what is the function of the stub?

A stub is leveraged by a client application to communicate with a corresponding server side object (in this case, the web service implementation). If you think back to CORBA or RMI applications they follow a similar pattern.
In the case of a web service you would use the stub to write a client application that could invoke the methods of the remote service and return the responses as java data types. The methods the stub class offers are the same as the methods of the web service interface. It's a common way for providing RPC like functionality.

• PL/SQL web service - how to use XML schema to define inputs/outputs?

Hello,
let us say I want to publish a PL/SQL web service. The package spec that I want to expose is:
CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE myWebService AS
FUNCTION loadResults(
username IN VARCHAR2,
password IN VARCHAR2,
resultData IN XMLType)
RETURN XMLType;
END;When I use JDeveloper's wizard to publish my PL/SQL web service, the resulting WSDL contains this:
<schema
xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
xmlns:wsdl="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/"
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
xmlns:soap11-enc="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/"
xmlns:tns="http://uk/co/weatherbys/aapws/AAPWS.wsdl/types/"
targetNamespace="http://uk/co/weatherbys/aapws/AAPWS.wsdl/types/"
elementFormDefault="qualified">
<element name="loadresultsElement">
<complexType>
<sequence>
<element name="username" type="string" nillable="true"/>
<element name="password" type="string" nillable="true"/>
<element name="resultdata" nillable="true">
<complexType>
<sequence>
<any/>
</sequence>
</complexType>
</element>
</sequence>
</complexType>
</element>
<element name="loadresultsResponseElement">
<complexType>
<sequence>
<element name="result" nillable="true">
<complexType>
<sequence>
<any/>
</sequence>
</complexType>
</element>
</sequence>
</complexType>
</element>
</schema>It is specifying that anything at all can be passed in and out from the two XMLType arguments, which is fair enough: it has no way of knowing what I am expecting and what I shall return.
My question is, how do I tell JDeveloper that actually I want either or both of those XMLTypes to conform to a particular XML schema?

You cannot format the date as a string, unless you do the conversion on the PL-SQL side, before you use it in your WebService mapping. It should be handled as a string.
The only way to convert the XML from SOAP, using this encoding, into literal XML is to apply XSLT to the payload. Not sure why you would like to do this, as the payload should be consumed by another SOAP-awared stack.
Hope this helps,
Eric

Ok, this sounds like a known bug ( Bug 5908689 ) in 10.1.3.1, but this was specific to non-Windows platforms. Are you on Linux/Solaris or any other platform? It might or might not be the same problem you are hitting but it does seem quite close (can't say for sure without a close investigation, I am afraid!)
In any case, this bug is fixed in the 10.1.3.4 patchset (besides quite a few other fixes and enhancements) - so would recommend you to first apply the 10.1.3.4 patchset and retest. The patchset is available on My Oracle Support (formerly Metalink) under Patch 7272722. Or you could go a step ahead, and apply the 10.1.3.5 patchset (Patch 8626084) instead which is the latest patchset for OracleAS 10.1.3.x.
