My question (since the tutorial was written for the release
of Flash 8) is whether taking the AS file from the tutorial's
sample zip file, modifying it, compiling the playerProductInstall
swf, and using it in place of the playerProductInstall generated by
FlexBuilder will cause any problems. If so, does FlexBuilder have a
way to customize this same behavior in its player install swf?

Are you sure you have uploaded everything in the gallery folder to the correct location. It can't find the index.html page.

Problem with IE and pubblishedIntoWall

Hi to all,
   i have a problem with InternetExplorer and CallBack
In my flex code i have :
flash.external.ExternalInterface.addCallback("pubblishedIntoWall", pubblishedIntoWall);
The javascript code:

In both Firefox and Chrome the javascript works in the right way.
In internet explorer the function pubblishedIntoWall is not called.
Have some one got an idea of this problem?

Can someone please tell me why my flex swf isnt appearing in firefox?

Like the title says, could someone possibly explain to me what im doing wrong with embedding this swf? **My code works fine in chrome**...But doesn't appear in FireFox, and it look compacted in IE, like its only set to a 5% height or something.
All I want to do is have the swf scale to 80% width(then i use the margin:0 auto; to center it), then 75% height. Theres a header, small ad at the top, and a footer at the bottom. All while being compatable with Chrome, FF, IE.
Incase possibly this matters..in my Flex Project I set the swf height and width to 100%. I figured since it's being embeded inside the `.mainContainer` div, the swf would then assume its parent(mainContainer)'s width and height wich is set to width:80% and height:75%. **And it does it chrome just fine** but like i said above the swf doesn't appear in FF. I thought maybe i should note this incase it's necessary information to solve this bug.
I didn't think this would be too hard but I can't seem to get the swf to load in FF. I'm seeing the swf making connects to some netConnections and stuff like its there, i just cant see anything.
-What am i doing wrong?
-Is there a better way I should be implementing the swf?
-How can i figure out whats wrong on my own in the future?
(im so used to working in Flash builder on flash projects, the debugging is so simple, informative, and easy to use. With only having access to "inspector" in chrome which never spits out any useful information I feel like im coding in the dark compared to using eclipse)
**EDIT:**
1 more thing I should mention. Pretty much the entire "embed" code provided here was auto generated by Flash Builder. I created .mainContainer around the "embed" code and all the extra divs around it... my header, footer,ect. Without any of my extra content, the swf appears just fine like you would expect it in firefox. SO my point in saying this is i do not think its **literally** the embed code. Because that embed code works in FF. It's just how im implemented my header, and div around this flash content that seems to break the code in FF for some reason.

Thanks to those of you who have responded. It is just frustrating because I absolutely love this phone. I just was shocked to see these ever changing colored vertical lines and sometimes just light grayish stripes throughout my screen. They come and go. Constantly changing, sometimes disappearing and then showing up again in a different app or simply when I pick up my phone after leaving it sit. The problem is where to start? I'm thinking straight to the nearest Apple Store on Monday morning.

Ie9 flash object not showing when wmode is set

I'm searching and searching but do not find any solution for this.
We're having a flex web application that is working fine until now. We're using until recently the google maps flash api, unfortunately this is already deprecated and will disappear completely in september 2014. Therefor we moved the whole integration to the js v3 api, which is working fine. The whole thing is an overlay over the application, since everything is moved to js, I added the property wmode to the object in html and set it to opaque in order to be able to layer everything. It's working fine for most people, but some (including my boss) are seeing a blank screen. Seems that nothing happens (although the swf loads), and I can not figure out why. Same browser (ie 9 or 10), same flash player version (11.6.xxx). Browser cache cleared, flash player cache cleared...
Somebody having a clue? Removing the wmode-property solves the issue, but then I'm not be able to get my map on top of the application.
The swf is definetly loading since I see calls made to the server in order to login etc. It's also not a flash player issue. The swf-file is directly accessable and rendering if done so.

This means that the SWF is written so that it only works when
embedded in a web page. When you add the SWF to the stage as a
stand-alone display object using addChild() it is not being hosted
in the web page.
You have 2 options:
1. Modify the SWF code (if possible) to remove the
ExternalInterface requirement. You can write code in your AIR
application javascript to subscribe directly to events from the SWF
using addListener() and call functions directly on the SWF object
(Flash/Actionscript is not my primary development environment... so
if I have gotten the terminology wrong I apologize, but I HAVE
written a flash application that worked as I describe). My SWF
actually works embedded in HTML or not using the code "if
(ExternalInterface.available) {
ExternalInterface.addCallback("setIsPlaying", setIsPlaying ); }"
2) Somehow add a HTMLLoader in a new child window (with
transparent = false) to the stage as a new child. I have not yet
figured out exactly how to do this, so If anyone can provide
information on how to do this, I too would be appreciative.

Flash not running in FF but runs in IE and Chrome

Hello:
I am having an issue with Flash not running in Firefox but it is running in IE and Chrome. The main url is http://www.mcafee.com/us/campaign/network-security/virtualized-data-center.html on which there is a section called "ROI Calculator". The download button links to a flash program which opens up

What about embedding it yourself?
Create empty HTML file, download swfobject.js: http://code.google.com/p/swfobject/downloads/list
And use this block of code. Of course, change name of swf file, width and height. Unpack swfobject.js right next to the html file.

How do i resolve Error #2032 ?

I am using the following code to launch SWF file. When i launch the page, getting "Error #2032" from GUI.
Could you please advise if any changes needs to be done in the following file?
Do you think this is environmental issue?

I have received feedback from Parallels and have a resolution for this issue.
1. Uninstall and re install Parallels Tools.
2. Change Direct X setting to Direct X 9.
3. Disable Vertical Synchronization.
4. Increase Video memory from 256 to 512 GB.
5. Restarted Windows and check the resolution.
After preforming these steps, the correct video driver is installed and I am no longer experiencing the video issues any longer.

In the example, loadMonitor.swf executes measurement function, and loadPlayer.swf executes playback function. But I found measurement cannt capture any netstream info.
The articlesaid they should belong to the same security context, but I cannt find more info about the description, could you help me? Thanks a lot.

Its true as you said the type coercion exception occurs since you have not overridden the clone() method. But the thing here you should note is even though there is a type mismatch of the event type the property enteredText still exists on that event Object except the type of Event is normal flash Event.
Hope you understood..Since the event you dispatched is infact a event with enteredText property...
Just to let you know as you are giving a presentation on events. I would like you to highlight one point in your code...so that you can share..
If in your dispatchedEventHandler() method if you dispatch the event with innerContainer instead of parentComp then your application will go into a Event dispatch recursion overflow error which means that your event gets dispatched and listened infinite times.

Thanks for that, I had a brainfart and forgot you can have the properties defined in that manner. I changed it but it still wasn't working which made me realize I had to change the backgroundColor property on the view in Away3D. I realized this after trying the params for the class and then not adding the view (which had a white bg) and then i looked at the docs and bam, there it was. Thanks!

Hi, those technologies are so cool but I failed to run the sample:
- I am using Maven 3.0.2.
Runnung mvn build from the latest source code from trunk "....cairngorm3\samples\todo>mvn install". I got the error relating to "unable to transacoding"
D:\Java\workspaces\misc\cairngorm3\samples\todo\todo_flex\todo_flex_shell\src\ma
in\flex\com\adobe\txi\todo\shell\skins\ApplicationHeaderSkin.mxml: Error: unable
to resolve '/assets/todoLogo_big.png' for transcoding
D:\Java\workspaces\misc\cairngorm3\samples\todo\todo_flex\todo_flex_shell\src\ma
in\flex\com\adobe\txi\todo\shell\skins\ApplicationHeaderSkin.mxml: Error: Unable
to transcode /assets/todoLogo_big.png.
I shift the assets folder to src/main/flex. It got compiled then I can deploy succesfully into Tomcat 6. But I still get empty screen.
Do I have to do something else like "run db script", "create DB schema" ?
Note: my adt.jar is from flex_sdk_4.5.0.17855
