Playing from a URL (Strange problem)
Hello,
I am having this strange problem where when i play a video with JMstudio it plays. however, when i try to play the same video from a url it some what loads and crashes while loading.
Note: I am running a web application in my local server that contains a video. So, i am trying to run the video from this url for example: http://localhost:8080/test/video/sky.mpg

Hi captfoos the strange thing is If i run the video file using the webserver URL then it crashes. However, if i play it by passing an explicit path it plays the video fine. I am just a beginner so don't know much about JMF capabilities.
And this is what i get when running through webserver URL it crashes the JVM.

Video is not playing from rtmp URL
Hi there,
I've a rtmp url with mp4 video link to play in InDesign CC. I'm creating a frame and in media panel selecting 'Place a video from a url', providing rtmp link with mp4 extension but it's giving me error 'Download failed because the URL could not be verified'. But the URL I tested and it plays the appropriate video.
Can anyone help me out to fix this issue ?

T61p won't power up from battery - very strange problem
A couple of days ago I put my computer into hibernation as normal - half an hour later I noticed that my bag was very warm and discovered the computer had turned itself on again. I experimented a couple of times and found that even when I shut down the computer, when I shut the lid, or just randomly, it would turn itself on again. This problem seems to have disappeared after a day, but now I cannot power up the laptop from the battery, only from the ac cable. The battery is working fine - if I disconnect the ac cable after the computer has turned on then it continues to work, and the battery is only a few months old.
Any help would be very much appreciated - I am pretty much baffled by this.Hi francisprep,

I am Completely new to Flash and Flash based development. I
require some help in creating a flash document.
I need to connect to a remote URL file and play the audio, it
is an MP3 file. I have tried some methods but as i am starting from
scratch i do not have any idea and I am stuck.
Basically, i want a simple label like "play" to appear and
when clicked on it connect to a URL specified (probably using
Action script) and play the MP3 file.
I have tried searching the forums and Internet before asking
this question but I did not get any accurate answer.

Very, very strange problem with iPod Touch. Won't play in my car.
I'd understand if I just plugged my iPod Touch into my car and it didn't work. That could mean it's simply not compatiable with my head unit, it could mean the head unit isn't up to date enough for it. However, the first couple of times I plugged my iPod in, it worked perfectly. It charged the iPod, loaded playlists and played the songs without any problems. But suddenly, it has stopped charging and playing songs. It won't even load the iPod anymore. On the head unit it just says it's searching for the iPod, but it never finds it. On the iPod it says it can't be charged on this device.
I have an Alpine head unit and a 3rd generation 64GB iPod Touch. I really don't understand why it would start saying it can't be charged on the device, when I've charged and played songs on it before. I already know it can work on the head unit.Unless I'm missing something Chris, I would think it very important if the Touch was charging from the very beginning. Of course if the Touch was fully charged when you first tried it then the songs would play.
Are you saying that your Touch appears to be playing tracks fine and has a charged battery, it's just that the sound isn't being played through the Alpine? Does it connect via the headphone socket of the Touch? If so, then plug some earphones in to see if any sound is coming out. If it is then it's either the cable connection to the Alpine (assuming it isn't Bluetooth as I'm not familiar with you Alpine or the Touch version you have) or the Alpine head unit itself.
You can very easily determine if the Touch is working and thereby eliminate that as being the problem.
Finally, I'm surprised you don't appear to think that it's important your Touch is being charged as obviously if it's not then after a while it will stop! -
when i play back an mp3 dj mix i,ve burn,t to cd in my car when i turn the engine of and then restart the car the cd starts back from the beginning how do i solve this problem so that when i turn the engine on end off the cd plays from the same place it did before i turned the engine off
It could be that the CD player will only playback "Redbook" CD's from the previous position.
And starts mp3 type CD's from the beginnig.
However.. it's not Logic related.

Strange Problem - All of my preloaded .swf files play at once

I've been getting a strange problem that I haven't been able to debug. I recently developed an interactive audio and video treatment program that users click through in which a master swf file (DTM-Start.swf) uses ActionScript upon first being loaded to load the rest of the program in the background. Here's how the code looks:

So that's the idea. What's strange is that when I load a .swf file compiled with AIR 2.6 (because the user interacts with the movie and a text file is output) it's fine too, but as soon as I add any actionscript, even if it's just a stop() command, to a .swf file compiled with AIR, the DTM-Start.swf loads and then plays all of the movies simultaneously so they're all going off at once. Essentially, flash seems to be ignoring the maladaptIntr.stop() command in the Loaded function, for instance. I just don't understand why adding any Actionscript whatsoever to a .swf compiled with AIR would make my DTM-Start do this. I am very confident this is the issue too, because loading .swf files compiled with the FlashPlayer with action script are fine...AIR .swf files without Actionscript are fine too, it's only AIR .swf files with ANY actionscript that cause this problem....

Note that with this approach you don't need to create a whole new set of logic each time you want to add a new swf to load. -
Iphone6 doesn't play music (have tried obvious things like volume etc and plugged in headphones, connected to a speaker via bluetooth, and tried to play from the inbuilt speaker). Does anyone know what the problem is and how it can be resolved?
You can't buy the part from Creative as a spare.
I'm not sure how compatible other parts might be, but that would be a question for someone who really knows a lot about this area of electronics.
The Creative repair for this is likely to be expensi've, but the problem is most likely a broken solder connection than an actual new headphone socket. So if you know someone experienced in surface mount soldering you could probably get it repaired just with this. -
Strange problem retreiving string from database
Hi,
I am receiving a very strange problem retreiving a string from a database. The database I am using is Access. I am using .getString(COLUMN_NAME) to get the data from the particular record in the result set. The problem is that sometimes it does not seem to get the entire information that is in the cell. I have found that it is completely random on when it will get the entire contents and when it will only get a portion. It seems like once it gets only a portion though, that every other retrieval of the same field on a different record in the result set will yield the same cut-off point. Of course to make my life even more difficult, it is not always the same cut-off point on a different result set.
Has anyone else experienced anything along these lines? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am running out of ideas as to the cause.
Thank youI've printed out exactly what is being retrieved from the fields in question and that's how I narrowed it down to that it has to do with the retrieval of the information from the result set. I've found the exact line of code where I am suddenly receiving only part of the data. And all I'm doing there is just getting the data from the result set. Nothing fancy at all. So unless the result set is becomming corrupt somehow...not sure how that would happen though by just cycling through?

Strange problem with procedure calling from Java!!!
I am using Oracle 8.1.7 Database, Oracle 8i Application server and WInNT platform.
I am facing a strange problem while inserting a String from Java to Oracle database through Procedure. When i am passing the String containing single quotes(e.g "test' and ' and ' end") and without including any escape charactes for the single quotes I am passing the String by the setString() method then the procedure is inserting the single quotes without any problem.
Of course when I am independently executing the procedure thru backend and passing the same String containing single quotes then the error message comes as " quoted string not properly terminated" which is justified,
I have even printed the String in a file through sql on the runtime of the procedure when it is called by Java and then also the String contatins single quotes that is passed through java without any escape characters. This means that procedure is inserting the String into the column without any hassles!!!!!
Can anyone tell me what may be the reason for the peculiar behaviour of Database?

Strange problem with ORA-12154 from only one client
Hi all,
I have a strange problem.
I have three 11.2.0.1 databases on three different hosts.
For simplicity lets say:
Host1: database ovm1a
Host2: database ovm7a
Host3: database ovm8a
I have a database schema in all three databases named EHJ. In all three databases, there are fixed user
database links to the other databases. So EHJ in ovm1a has two links, one to ovm7a and one to ovm8a. The EHJ schema in ovm7a has two fixed user links to the EHJ schema in the ovm1a and ovm8a databases. And the same is true for the EHJ schema in the third database, ovm8a.
If I log into the EHJ schema for each of the three databases, I can successfully select over the database links. I've been using the SQL statement: select count(*) from user_users@dblink_name;
For each of the two links in each of the three databases, the query returns 1 so I know the database links are working properly and I have my networking setup properly.
Now, here is the weirdness.
I have an Oracle Application Server where our Oracle Forms and Reports run. The Oracle client on this install is 10.1.0.5. I've got a tnsnames.ora file setup on this Oracle App server to connect to all three databases ovm1a, ovm7a and ovm8a. I can successfully use the 10.2.0.5 client SQL*PLUS to connect to the EHJ schema in the ovms1, ovms7 and ovms8 databases.
However, (and only when) connected to the ovm1a database from this client, attempts to select over the link throw the famous error: ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
This error happens with both links in the ovm1a database when connected via this one client.
BUT, if I connect using the same 10.1.0.5 client to the EHJ schema in the ovm7a or ovm8a databases, the database links in those two databases are working just fine.
I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure this out.
I've tried using SQL*PLUS from my desktop machine (10g R2 client) connecting to the EHJ schema on all three databases and the db links all work fine.
Any help in trying to troubleshoot this would be greatly appreciated.

Strange problem - WebDynpro DC after importing from standalone WD

project which is not on NWDI and was deployed , working
fine. Now, I created a WebDynpro DC, and I imported the

Strange thing is in the Exception trace, It is says conflicting with the local webdynpro from which i imported to this DC.

Raghavendra PothulaInteresting and Time consumed bug. Here is the answer/solution i have found for this kind of problem.
As VMO id is same for the non-nwdi webdynpro and nwdi-webdynpro(which imported non-nwdi webdynpro), We need to go in Visual Administrator and Undeploy the non-nwdi webdynpro ie., local/WDXyz.

Create Player from a URL that is a servlet
I'm having a really strange problem here.
I wrote a servelet that will return a wav file.

if a access it from a browser, the browser will play the wav
(I set the correct ContentType and length)
if I try to do the same from a MIDP
url = http://myServer/myServlet
Manager.createPlayer(url)
I get an error:
"java.io.IOException: failed to connectresponse does not start with HTTP it starts with: RIFF?/"
RIFF?/ is actually the beginning of the wav file.
it as if the http header is hidden from the Manager.createPlayer
Any ideas ?not sure - but check MIME types of .wav and that your cell really supports .wav playback.

Strange problems on Macbook Pro over past year...
I'm about to do an erase and install after having numerous strange problems on my mid 2009 17" Macbook Pro (Leopard) over the past year, some of which I have opened threads for on these forums.
They are listed bellow to see if anyone wants to give their final two cents as to what is causing them. They may or might not be related.
1) I recently found the "Unknown" user classifications at second from top in the user priveleges for the main Macintosh HD folder and "Local Work" – which is my main folder for work.

4) Some proceses I've seen in the activity monitor that are possibly a little sketchy are as follows:
- "netsessionmac1" ... Akamai playing about?
- "TaskManagerDaemo" ... with "Root" user, ... sounds a bit vague and possible malware according to google?
5) In Skype I get constant warnings of other computers trying to connect from Little Snitch and Virus Barrier. I get so many of them one after they other pausing skype that I can only use Skype with Little Snitch off. I can only use it late at night also as there seems to be more attempts being blocked in virus barrier during the day that I can't even get past the login:

7) Slow Safari/Firefox and internet.
8) I got this strange warning about my IP changing recently when downloading a file:

9) My internet cuts out for large periods of time while the other PC desktop in my house works perfectly fine.

Message was edited by: ScottishengineerI suppose your expanding battery problem could have caused some or all of these problems, but most of them sound like software issues.
If I were you I'd try a few things:
1. boot from your snow leopard install disk and repair your startup disk with disk utility.
2. repeat the repairs until no repairs are reported (the toilet paper principle).
3. repair permissions again.
4. if the problems persist, trash the preferences files for the misbehaving apps.
5. if the problems persist, delete the misbehaving apps and reinstall them.
6. it the shutoffs persist, try a PMU reset.
7. a PRAM reset would probably be a good idea too.
8. if none of that works, archive and reinstall.
there is a freeware utility called applejack that will also do most of this.
Details on all of these will be readily available with a google search. -
Strange Problem in dynamically list population with record group

I am dynamically populating a single list with 2 record groups. I am having a strange problem. All the code are written in 2 seperate buttons. The code of every button is given below.
Button 1 code:-

The code is same here only the sql is different in these 2 buttons. Now the problem point.
when i press button 1, I get the list populated ok. when i try to click on the list item and keep the button pressed the list gets scrolled properly.
when i press button 2 after that i get account names well populated in the same list item as well, but this time, when i keep the button pressed the list does not scroll below as in button 1. It does not even allow to select different item from the list of button 2 code.
I tried to clear cache, cookies, exit browser everything and try to run the button 2 first, but still the problem in button 2 code.
Following are my system details.
windows 7 professional edition.
Oracle database 11g on windows 7
Oracle forms 10g patchset 10.1.2.0.2 on windows 7
Browser Netscape Navigator with oracle jinitiator 1.3.1.22
But this form is run by a client side html file where oracle forms 10g is not installed on windows xp. html file is just referring server url to run the module. The file is run on Netscape navigator browser with oracle jinitiator 1.3.1.22
My question is that is this a bug ? if button 1 gets the list item scrolled, why is the problem with button 2 even though i press it first. Here I am deleting the record group also. after the code is over. Initially I thought this may be the character length problem so I took the maximum character length for that list item as given by the 2 columns in database.
Why is the list scrolling not happening in button 2 but in button 1 with same codes on both ?
Anybody please help me.The problem is the second query. I would guess that the TO_CHAR(co) is not unique for each account, but is the same for the accounts. And as the second item in the select-list is the listitems values, all your listitem-entries have the same value. therefore, of you select any entry, the list will always go the the first entry again.
Adjust your query.
