Plus and Min Date

Question

Hi,
i want to make a library system
but having problem with date
for example borrow date is 29/4/03 i want to add 7 days so the return date will be 6/5/03
and i want to check how many days i late return the book
for example i return at 9/5/03 thats mean i late for 3 days
how do i get that

Something like:

  cal.setTime(formatter.parse(startDate));
  cal.add(Calendar.DATE, 7); // add 7 days to get return date
  final String returnDate = "09/05/03"; // the return date (3 days late)
  final Calendar cal2 = Calendar.getInstance();
  cal2.setTime(formatter.parse(returnDate));
  final float day = 1000*60*60*24; // number of milliseconds in a day
  System.out.println("Difference in days = " + ((cal2.getTime().getTime())-(cal.getTime().getTime()))/day);
} catch (ParseException pe) {
  pe.printStackTrace();
}The difference between the 2 dates is a bit dodgy because of daylight saving etc.
