PocketMac SynManagerOEM Warning:
Merging local records with device records failed. Will not continue.
Well, so it failed, but I can't figure out what the problem was or how to fix it. Any suggestions?

The error message is obvious . As it suggests you need to set ANSI WARNINGS to ON for making it work.
And for your error you need to double check the lengths of each of the involved character based fields against the values they receive and make sure they've sufficient length to hold up to the maximum value they can get. There's no other short cut for that.

Does anyone had issue (ORA-00001: unique constraint) while invoking DBAdapter Merge (Insert and Update) to a table
which having a primary key of combination of 3 fields?
My table is :

The detail of bindFault from BPEL is:
ORA-00001: unique constraint (TS.SYS_C0013840) violated
Exception occured when binding was invoked. Exception occured during invocation of JCA binding: "JCA Binding execute of Reference operation 'merge' failed due to: DBWriteInteractionSpec Execute Failed Exception. merge failed.
This fault happened when i want to update CONV_RATE for a particular record in DB.
For example, a record in DB (LOCAL_CURRENCY = 'EUR', FOREIGN_CURR ='USD', DATE_MOD= '20110101',CONV_RATE='1.5') is updated to new CONV_RATE='1.6'.
My environment: SOA Suite 11.1.1.3, DB target Oracle 11g.
Any hints are most welcome.

I am having a similar problem. Trying to perform a merge on DB2 AS400 from BPEL. The table has a composite key with 6 fields (JD Edwards table):

When trying to call DB Adapter merge operation for an existing record I get the following error:

Mail merge fails if too many characters?

It seems that if included (imported from Numbers file by merge) field is too large, the result is a blank.
Is this true .. or is it failing for another reason?

moving text fields from Numbers to be printed by Pages .. if the text contains a single quote (") the result is blank.

I am using InDesign CS6 (8.0.1)
I created the CSV by downloading it from a Google Spreadsheet as a CSV. I confirm with the Terminal that the character encoding is utf-8 usnig the file command.
Problem detailed
I am trying to import a CSV file (utf-8) with Data Merge via the Select Data Source... command with Show Import Options checked. When viewing the Data Source Import Options dialog, I set the following options—Delimiter:Comma, Encoding:Unicode, Platform:Macintosh. I leave Preserve Spaces in Data Source unchecked. It fails to import any variables and produces no error message. I have tried other CSV files as well (created TextEdit, Espresso, etc.) and it seems that InDesign will not import any files if Unicode is specified as the encoding, no matter which other options are specified.
Can anyone else confirm this?
Importing as ACSII works, but obviously does not display my content correctly.

OK. I think I might have a positive answer for you.
I was getting lost in the upper ASCII characters you showed. In your test file I never could see any--a case of not seeing the trees for the forest.
Your quote marks are getting dropped in your test file. Now, this may or may not affect other factors but it does in some further testing. I believe ID has an issue with dropping quote marks even in a plain ASCII file if the marks are at the beginning of a sentence and the file is tab delimited. Call it a bug.
Because of all the commas and quote marks in your simple file, I think you should be exporting from Google Docs' spreadsheet as a tab-delimited file. This exported file has to be opened in a text editor capable of saving it out as a UTF-16 BE (Big Endian) type of file.
Also, I think you are going to have to use proper quote marks throughout, or change them in the exported tab-delimited file. Best to have a correct source, though.
Here is your sample ZIPped up. I think it works properly. But then again, I think I might be bleary-eyed by now.

PS CS6 HDR merge failed to output image.

I started from Lightroom 4 and did a merge to HDR. All the images opened in Photoshop CS6 HDR. (Unlike CS5 there was only one tab called Untitled HDR) The HDR control panel opened up and I edited the highlights shadows and removed ghosts. I clicked to finilize the process. The panel closed and I find myself looking at a PS CS6 screen with no image open at all. I went to LR4 and looked around. There was no stacked image. There was no imported image. I sorted all edited images. It was not there. I went back to PS CS6 and and tried again only I changed 16bit to 8bit. Still nothing. I had Google Chrome running and nothing else. I am using a iMac running 10.7.5 with 4 gigs of ram. Nothing ran slow. Everything ran smoothly and/or quickly.

I just opened Adobe Aplication Manager and saw an update for PS CS6. I just became an Creative Cloud member a week ago. I hope this update corrects the problem!?!

Office for Mac 2008 - Mail Merge fails under Lion

I have upgraded to Lion and have Office ofr Mac 2008.
Since the upgrade to Lion I cannot use the Word Mail Merge as it cannot find the convertor from Excel Workbook to text... everything worked fine till I upgraded to Lion

Yes, but Mail Merge is not a feature of Lion. It is a feature of Word. Since it is a Word feature that is "broken" then as mentioned, you should be asking in the Microsoft forums.

HTML Email Merge Fails

Hi All,
I'm running windows 8.1, And office 2010. My email merge from Word 2010 to Outlook 2010 works as a plain text and attachments but not as HTML.
Can someone please let me know how to fix this issue.

Topology Merge Failing between OCS 2007 and Lync 2010

A brief about the issue. I read
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg412949.aspx which tells to run
Set-CsSipDomain -Identity fabrikam.com -IsDefault $True to make additional domain as default domain.
Want to know the exact procedures before I need to follow without affecting the existing set up before merging the topology again.
We have OCS 2007 in production where abc.company.com is primary sip domain and company.com is additional sip domain.
Recently installed Lync 2010 with primary sip domain as company.com and abc.company.com as additional sip domain.
Tried to merge both the topology after installing CU and OCS backward compatibility tool on Lync 2010 and it ended up with below error.
System.Management.Automation.CmdletInvocationException: The value of default domain in “Office Communications Server 2007” / “Office Communications Server 2007 R2” is “abc.company.com”. The value of default domain in Lync Server 2010
is “Company.com”. These values need to be equal before you continue merging the topology.

Run on the Lync Front End
Set-CsSipDomain -Identity abc.company.com -IsDefault $True
This won't impact any existing users on Lync tied to company.com sip address space.
Then launch the Lync Topology builder again, you should see the updated default SIP domain.
Run the OCS Merge again, after decommissioning OCS switch the primary domain back to company.com (if you switch the sip domain prior to decommission and need to run merge again, you'll have to set-cssipdomain)

Do you have the VCS, MCU, and endpoints setup to use multiway? Unless all three are configured properly, it won't work. See the VCS Admin Guide, pg 270 for details. The Multiway Deployment Guide will provide step by step instructions to configure each component.
If you have each component setup correct and you still can't get it to work, can you explain in detail what is or isn't happening?

Need help in restricting a result set from a UNION in MERGE

Would really appreciate if anybody could help me out with the issue I am facing with the below statements (I am new to Oracle ):
merge into table_name_1 p
using
select p_key, value_1, value_2
from some_tables
UNION
select p_key, value_1, value_2
from some_tables
UNION
)t
on (p.p_key = t.p_key)
when matched then
update table_name_1 with value_1 and value_2
when not matched then
insert table_name_1 with p_key, value_1, value_2;
Now, the union of all those selects gives me distinct values and it works most of the times but when I get values like below, the merge fails:
p_key-----value_1-----value_2
100-----25-----50
100-----NULL-----50
I browsed the net and understood the reason behind this: the result set becomes ambiguous and merge doesn't know which row to insert first and which one to update.
Now, my requirement is: I could have any of the below scenario/result sets from the union and I need only 1 row per p_key -
result_set_1
p_key-----value_1-----value_2
100-----25-----50 ***************need this row
100-----NULL-----50
100-----NULL-----NULL
result_set_2
p_key-----value_1-----value_2
100-----25-----NULL ***************need this row
100-----NULL-----NULL

So, I basically need a way to restrict the values that I will get from the UNION of all those selects to fit the requirement above, hope I was able to explain the issue I am facing.

In all cases the goal is to find an order by value that will make the row you want be first.
The query I gave is calculating a priority for each row by adding up values showing whether each column is null or not null. The case statements check whether each column is null and need to be added up to give a total priority value.
Value_1   Value_2   Priority
Not Null Not Null 2 + 1 = 3
Not Null Null      2 + 0 = 2
Null      Not Null 0 + 1 = 1
Null      Null      0 + 0 = 0
The priority value ends up being a bitmap showing whether each value is null or not null. I think that reflects my mathematics background.
Another way of getting the same result (suggested to me by your asking why it needs the "+") would be to use two CASE expressions as separate order by items:
select p_key, value_1, value_2 from
(select p_key, value_1, value_2, row_number() over
          (partition by p_key
           order by case when value_1 is null then 0 else 1 end DESC,
                    case when value_2 is null then 0 else 1 end DESC
          ) as rn
from (your UNION query here)
where rn = 1
A third way is to use a more complex case statement:
select p_key, value_1, value_2 from
(select p_key, value_1, value_2, row_number() over
          (partition by p_key
           order by case when value_1 is NOT null and value_2 is NOT null then 1
                         when value_1 is NOT null and value_2 is     null then 2
                         when value_1 is     null and value_2 is NOT null then 3
                         when value_1 is     null and value_2 is     null then 4
                     end ASC
          ) as rn
from (your UNION query here)
where rn = 1

I have a simple SOA composite which reads XML files and posts data to a database table using a database adapter. I would like to perform a merge operation but I keep getting this error in the log -

We are at first hand struggling with DB adapter problem getting down everytime. Don't know the reason why.
DB adapter is in down state and when trying to make it up gives below error:
"weblogic.application.ModuleException: weblogic.connector.exception.RAException: Jndi Name is null or empty."
I just created a simple sync process using DB adapter (custom select) and deplyed successfully. I hope jndi name is not to be configured in weblogic-ra.xml file.
This is the first time we are using this JNDI name (eis/DB/calvindb).
Any inputs will be appreciated.

Mail Merge to PDF

I am using Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Pro to send a merged word document to a list of email receipents.
I have created two word files, the first works fine but the second I always get the error message that "Acrobat PDFMaker was not able to mail merge the document".
The only difference between the two files is that the second has some additional merge feilds. Although it doesnt appear to relate to any specific additional field (no matter which field I add, as soon as there is a new field the merge fails).
Does anyone have any suggestions about what might be causing the merge to PDF to fail?
FYI, I can complete the mail merge in word no problem, and I can mail merge and email to receipents in word no problem. (The end result I am after is to send out to the email receipents a PDF file rather than an editable word doc).

I've had this same problem with one word document and I think I figured out what is going on, at least in my case. I'm using Word 2003. I tried a test of one merge record, and it worked, but when I tried to complete the entire merge, it failed. After trying several times to no avail, I noticed that the first word in my document had the red spell check underline, even though the word was not spelled wrong. When I placed my mouse cursor in front of the first letter of the word, the font information said "ZWAdobeF" and the size was 1. After I deleted this and tried the merge to e-mail through the Adobe plugin, it worked flawlessly. After the merge was completed however, that font reappeared in front of the first word in my document.
I hope this helps some people out there.
Also, I'm using Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional, Windows XP SP3.

Providing users the ability to Merge using a DAT file under Windows 7

Our organization uses older software that uses Word Templates with Merge Fields, pulling data out of a SQL database. The software itself is old and out of date, but still works under Windows 7. The problem I am having is that the software will
place its own macros inside of Normal.dot to properly merge fields using the Word Templates.
Each Merge document accesses the application folder and goes into a sub-folder to access a file called WORDDATA.DAT that is the data source for the merge. Each workstation has their own WORDDATA.DAT file stored locally in C:\APPLICATION\temp\
In XP (we never used Vista), the proper way to get these merges to work was to do the following:
1. Provide Power Users (see below) with Modify rights to the main APPLICATION folder and propagate those rights down to all files underneath of it (including WORDDATA.DAT). We also had to remove inheritable permissions from the root drive (C).
2. Add Domain Users to Power Users group (for some reason the merges on XP would not work without this) so that anyone logging onto the machine could merge.
3. These templates required the Low security setting for macros in Word for the merge to work properly.
The problem I am facing now is that I cannot get the merges to work properly under Windows 7 Pro without giving the user Administrator rights on the local machine. This is obviously not a good idea. No matter what I try, nothing seems to work.
I've disabled UAC on these machines. Given Full Control rights to the application folder and all sub-folders and have even gone so far as to make the user the Owner of the application folder. But no matter what I do, the merge will not work unless
the user is added to the local Administrators group. I've also noticed strange behavior with WORDDATA.DAT, where it will not relinquish the Read-Only attribute. After running 'attrib' and stripping it of Read-Only and System attributes, the file
reverts to showing Read-Only in the properties. I don't know if this matters or not, but it appears as if Windows will not let anyone modify that file completely.
Does anyone have a suggestion for a workaround? Keep in mind, 1. Disabled UAC, 2. Running the application under Compatibility Mode for XP.
I realize we are using outdated software and this can cause some issues of course, but the basic principle of merging documents works. It has nothing to do with the application itself IMO but seems to be more of a security issue.

I guess I'm completely out of luck on this issue huh? The basics of the problem are simply that unless the user is added to Administrator local group on the Win7 machine, when the merge runs and has to use WORDDATA.DAT, it cannot and the merge fails.
Add the user as an admin and it works but this leaves our systems vulnerable, particularly with users who are happy to just double-click on any old attachment without checking it first.
