    hello experts,
    please suggest  me a solution for the following problem :
    I have an internal table with some data.
    how can i create an excel file with that data in Presentation Server.
    Thanks & Regards
    sasi.

    hi,
        u can use FM: 'DOWNLOAD'.
    it will prompt u for destination - just give the requd filename and extension.
    Ex:
        call function 'DOWNLOAD'
             exporting
                 filename                =
                  filetype                = 'DAT'
             tables
                  data_tab                = tb_output
                  fieldnames              = tb_fld_nam
             exceptions

                  invalid_table_width     = 2
                  invalid_type            = 3
                  no_batch                = 4
                  unknown_error           = 5
                  gui_refuse_filetransfer = 6
                  customer_error          = 7
                  others                  = 8.
    where,
             tb_output = internal table having the fields which u want in the O/P
    Ex:
             data:  begin of tb_output occurs 0,
                               name_1(20)      type c,
                               name_2(20)      type c,
                       end of tb_output.
             tb_fld_nam = Field headings :
    Ex:
             data:  begin of tb_fld_nam occurs 0,
                            name(25)              type c,
                      end of tb_fld_nam.
                     tb_fld_nam-name = 'Name 1'.
                     append tb_fld_nam.
                     tb_fld_nam-name = 'Name 2'.
                     append tb_fld_nam.

  • Download SAP data to Excel file in Presentation server

    Hi gurus,
    I need to download SAP data to excel file. for that im using SAP_CONVERT_TO_XLS_FORMAT   function module. I have to download with column header and also date should be in YYMMDD format. Im changing the format in ITAB but when populating to excel leading zero's were removed.(EX. 12102007 is converted to 071012 and it was populated as 71012). can someone explain how to use this function module or give someother solution for this....And if possible explain the parameters of the function module SAP_CONVERT_TO_XLS_FORMAT. Is there any function module for converting date as required format?
    Thanks,
    Amal

    Hi Amal...
    The Problem you are facing is because of Display properties of Microsoft Excel itself. I believe this can not be solver with in SAP. Instead I would suggest you to go for a .csv format. which can also be viewed in Excel.
    In any case if you get to find a different solution for this, I would appriciate if you can share it with me :).

  • Upload an excel file in the server  with a background job

    I am trying to upload an excel file in the server, but i only can upload flat files, i can upload files in local with the function ALSM_EXCEL_TO_INTERNAL_TABLE, can i use this function reading an excel file in the server, or is there another possibility of uploadinging an excel file in the server  with a background job ?
    thanks in advance

    Hi
    First read the file from the server to some temporary place at presentation layer and then open it. And if required, save it to the server afterwards. To read/write files to application server you can use:
    1. Statements "OPEN DATASET/CLOSE DATASET".
    2. There are some FMs for server file operations, like "C13Z_FILE_UPLOAD_BINARY" and "C13Z_FILE_DOWNLOAD_BINARY".

  • How to Append an existing Excel file?

    I am using the jexcel api to write to a new excel file. Each time i run my program, it creates a new Excel File by the name i give it. my code to create the excelFile is as below:-
    File excelFile=new File(workDir+"\\"+fileName+".xls");
    WritableWorkbook workbook = Workbook.createWorkbook(excelFile);
    After this code i write some data to a worksheet in the above mentioned excel file. But my requirement is that I want to create the excel if it does not exist, and if it exists, then the data should be appended to the worksheet in the existing excel file. At present it creates a new excel file and does not append it.
    How can it be done? does anyone have any suggestions as to how can i tackle this problem? please suggest something.

    There is no ready-to-run example, as you are searching for, available.
    This has several reasons:
    - It depends on the version of Excel. Examples for Excel 2007 might not work with Excel 2010 for instance.
    - No one just wants to open Excel without doing anything with it.
    The second point is something, i want to ask you:
    Why do you want to open an existing Excel file at all? What is it, what you want to do after opening it?
    If you have LV/C/C#/VB examples doing what you are looking for, why do you want to have it in TestStand directly, so NOT using existing code (saving time and effort) and basically re-inventing the wheel?
    ActiveX is an interface for remote controlling and embedding applications with/in other applications on Windows systems. It is a PROGRAMMING interface.
    So naturally, examples and tutorials exist for programming languages. Those examples are easily converted to TestStand sequences with a basic knowledge of the programming language and TestStand. Providing links for such tutorials/examples is a valid way to give support to fellow developers because we expect the fellow to have that basic knowledge.
    If that knowledge is not present, i highly recommend to fill that gap.
    just my 2 cents,

  • Download the file in presentation server while the program runs in backgrou

    Hi,
    Usually we will never download the file in presentation server while the job is scheduled in back ground.
    But now i need to do that. I need to download the data in excel file and the same program is scheduling in background.
    Can any one suggest how can we do this?
    Thanks in Advance,
    Ravi

    Hi,
    There is an alternative provided by SAP. The program RFCEXEC has to be installed locally on the PC.
    In SAP R/3 we have to define a destination link to your local PC to the RFCEXEC program. And in the ABAP program we have to invoke the connection by calling the FM  RFC_REMOTE_FILE.
    I haven’t tried this before but a detailed documentation is available in this link.

  • Report Generation tool kit for MS office (Opening an existing excel file and appending to the bottom)

    I don't have any problems creating and filling an excel sheet with data. I use the New Report.vi, Easy Title.vi, and Easy Text.vi to create the file. I then save and dispose properly.
    What I don't seem to be able to do is open the exsting file and append data to the end of the sheet.
    Thanks in advance for your help.
    todd

    Hi Todd,
    You can do this by creating a new Excel report with the existing excel file path wired to the "template" input. Then use "Excel Get Last Row.vi" (located under Report Generation\Excel Specific\Excel General) to obtain the location of the last row. Then use that location to input new data into the file.
    Hope this helps,
    Dan

    Hi Arbind,
    Just realize... when you run it in foreground, you have a foreground to capture the file location. so it runs fine..
    but when you are running it in background, there is no foreground to check that is no gui present... how can it check where the C:\.... location is??
    no need of reading any oss note... just see.. the name is cl_GUI_FRONTEND_service.. its only for front end..
    u need open dataset, read dataset, close dataset kind of things while running in background. or RFCs to read the file... (search SDN).

  • How to get data from an existing Excel file using report generation toolkit

    I'm trying to use the Excel Get Data vi from the report generation toolkit, but i can't figure out how to turn a browsable path into the right type for the VI.  I've tried using the New Report.vi, but that doesn't work unless you use a template.  It won't open an existing excel file and make it an open report to pull data from.
    Essentially, i have a bunch of excel files that have data in them and i want to use a VI to analyze the data.  So, i'm trying to pull in all the data directly from the excel file so i don't have to reproscess them all into text so i can use the more standard spreadsheet VIs.  But to even convert the excel file programtically in labview won't i still need to be able to open the excel file and get the data?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    I C.
    Got it,
    the reason why I can view it using my Excel file because its in .CSV.
    I open Microsoft Excel to open .CSV file.
    But you can also open .csv file with notepad.
    So, you cannot open .xls with Read Spreadsheet File
    I learn something everyday

  • Error while reading excel file from application server into internal table.

    Hi experts,
    My requirement is to read an excel file from application server into internal table.
    Hence I have created an excel file fm_test_excel.xls in desktop and uploaded to app server using CG3Z tcode (as BIN file type).
    Now in my program I have used :
    OPEN DATASET v_filename FOR INPUT IN text mode encoding default.
    DO.
    READ DATASET v_filename INTO wa_tab.
    The statement OPEN DATASET works fine but I get a dump (conversion code page error) at READ DATASET statement.
    Error details:
    A character set conversion is not possible.
    At the conversion of a text from codepage '4110' to codepage '4103':
    - a character was found that cannot be displayed in one of the two
    codepages;
    - or it was detected that this conversion is not supported
    The running ABAP program 'Y_READ_FILE' had to be terminated as the conversion
    would have produced incorrect data.
    The number of characters that could not be displayed (and therefore not
    be converted), is 445. If this number is 0, the second error case, as
    mentioned above, has occurred.
    An exception occurred that is explained in detail below.
    The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_SY_CONVERSION_CODEPAGE', was not
    caught and
    therefore caused a runtime error.
    The reason for the exception is:
    Characters are always displayed in only a certain codepage. Many
    codepages only define a limited set of characters. If a text from a
    codepage should be converted into another codepage, and if this text
    contains characters that are not defined in one of the two codepages, a
    conversion error occurs.
    Moreover, a conversion error can occur if one of the needed codepages
    '4110' or '4103' is not known to the system.
    If the conversion error occurred at read or write of  screen, the file
    name was '/usr/sap/read_files/fm_test_excel.xls'. (further information about
    the file: "X 549 16896rw-rw----201105170908082011051707480320110517074803")
    Also let me know whether this is the proper way of reading excel file from app server, if not please suggest an alternative .
    Regards,
    Karthik

    Hi,
    Try to use OPEN DATASET v_filename FOR INPUT IN BINARY mode encoding default. instead of OPEN DATASET v_filename FOR INPUT IN text mode encoding default.
    As I think you are uploading the file in BIN format to Application server and trying to open text file.
