Popup on Jtable

Hi want to get an popup-dialog , no tooltip on a certain column i a Jtable , is this possible and if it is where can i get some examples??

if you would have looked at the online tutorial you would have found an example that brings up a JColorChooser as editing tool for a column .... the first thing, if you search for solutions, should be a look at the tutorial.

    Well guys, voil� my problem...
    I've a Person class, who has some methods to get the person information, like getName(), getAge(), getAdresse(), etc...     I made a lot of tries, but i could not get the solution... The only one thing I could, was to eliminate the columns with zero value in the conf file, but the headers were not in the correct order!... And there's another problem too, when I switch the columnIndex, if it equals to COLUMN_EMAIL = 15 means that JTree is getting the value of the 15th column, but if the user had removed the 2 column for example, the 15th column is not more the email column, it's the 15+1 columns :S... is it clair? I think it's a little difficult to explain, and as you see, i don't speak english very well :P...
    Summary: I would create a class extending JTable with columns configurables, i mean, let the user choose witch columns should be showed... Any idea ?... I can avoid the JTable component, so If you've another solution, it will be ok...

    Your requirement is very general so we can't give you an exact solution, but I can try explaining how JTable works.
    The TableModel is used to store the data. The JTable is used to display the data. When a table is first created using a TableModel a TableColumnModel is created. Each TableColumn in the TableColumnModel maps directly to a column in the TableModel.
    Now what happens if the user moves column 15 to the first column in the table? The data hasn't changed, only the view of the data has changed. So even though the column is in column 0 of the table, the data must still come from column 15 in the TableModel. The TableColumns of the TableColumnModel do the mapping for you so you don't need to worry about the reordering of columns.
    However, if you have some code in your program that accesses the data directly, then you need to be aware of this situation. Fortunately JTable has some methods to make this mapping easy.
    table.getValueAt(...) will get data from the requested column in the view of the table
    table.getModel().getValueAt(...) will get data form the requested column in the TableModel.
    You can also do the mapping between "view" and "model" columns using the methods:
    table.convertColumnIndexToModel(...)
    table.convertColumnIndexToView(...) So what does this mean with dynamic columns? Well, you would build your table normally, then you would remove the TableColumns from the TableColumnModel that the user does not want to see.
    The following example is so code I wrote a while ago that will help in manipulating the TableColumnModel. Right click on the TableHeader to see the visible/hidden status of each column:

  • JComboBox in JTable not refresh automatically

    Hi folks,
    I put a JComboBox in a JTable cell as editor and with a GlassPane over the whole frame. Initially, I got lots of problems in dispatching events to JComboBox. Eventually, comboBox.setLightWeightPopupEnabled(false) seems solve many of them. However, after I called the said API to prevent light-weighted popup in JTable, when I move mouse on popup list or navigate with scroll bar, the UI does not refresh at all. I am pretty sure that all the models except UI has been updated because when I switch to another application and back, the UI repaints with expected appearance.
    Any idea ? Thanks a lot.!

    I think you might be doing this to yourself. This block here:

        }What purpose does it serve? It seems to muck up your table cell editing, including the combobox editing. If you comment out the tce.stopCellEditing() like so:

  • JTable JCombox popup on click in table cell

    What is the recommended way of making a JComboBox that is in a JTable cell popup when the user clicks once anywhere in the cell?
    The popup is actually a calendar that works fine if the user clicks on the spot where the button shows up in the cell but sets the focus in the text box of the JComboBox is the click is anywhere else in the cell and the popup doesn't sho in that case. To get to the popup requires a click on the button.

  • JCombobox with a JTable as Popup

    I will ask if it's possible create a JCombobox that show a JTable instead the popup at the mouse click event.
    I've drew a JComboBox and a JTable under it but I don't know how can I stop the popup menu.

  • JTable cell editor popup

    Hi All
    I created a CalendarPanel, which contains a combobox for months and a spinner for year and grid of JLabels to display dates.
    And, a JTable with a cell which holds a date value. I created a cell editor with JSpinner to increment or decrement date by 1, which is practically not good. So I added a button top popup the calendar and user selects the date.
    Cell editor is a JPanel with a spinner and a small JButton. The click event of this button shows a Calendar (another JPanel) in which we can select the date.
    The spinner in the cell editor and the Calendar are linked to each other so that if user clicks on the spinner to change the date, that change reflects in the calendar also, and vice versa.
    I am able to popup the calendar on top of JTable at appropriate location (exactly below the cell) and when user selects the date it changes the value of spinner and vice versa.
    With this I have two problems.
    1. When user clicks on some other area of the calendar (except spinner) the calendar should automatically disappear. Right now when user double clicks on the date it disappears.
    2. In the calendar panel when I click on combo box to select the month or on the spinner to change the year - table cell is losing its focus and stopping the cell editing, means no link with calendar and the cell. But this is not happening with the label click (I guess this is because JLabels have no focus)
    How can I solve these 2.

    Have your cell editor extend DefaultCellEditor. In the constructor, set the editorComponent to your new calendar component. Add a mouse listener (adapter) to the editorComponent - in mouseClicked, call stopCellEditing().

  • Popup menu on a JTable

    firstlly, I'll say that I'm new swing, so bare with me....
    I need to create a popup table that has two menuItems -
    1. add an item to the list
    2. remove an item from the list
    this popup menu should work on couple of different tables (I have 3 tables so far).
    I understood I should use MouseListeners, is that right?
    when I use the remove MenuItem I need to know which row was pressed. how do I know this? is this information contained in the event?
    I'd appreciate a code sample.

    I am struck at aproblem, I am developing an applet in which I am using TabbedPanes and each tabbed panel has either tables or some key information to display.
    My Problem is, I have a JTable, which has informations related to a perticular record, each record may or may not have some more hidden information. If a record has a hidden information, then the record's cell will contain a message " click here for more information " . after clicking this cell a window will open to show the hidden information.
    I have tried ListSelectionListener and MouseListener to the JTable but nothing is giving me the desired results.
    Please I you could suggest me about this.

    Hi folks,
    I am trying to write a JTable cell validation. Input data in a cell, if failure, prompt message and set focus & editing back to the cell. I've tried InputVerifier() but it doesn't work since I can easily use the mouse click to shift to other cells in the same table.
    What I am trying to do now is to define my DefaultCellEditor. I record the row & index position when getting focus. In the lost focus event, do the validation and set the focus & editing back if failure. Seems it works fine. However, when I randomly click different cells in the table quickly. It prompts:
    "java.awt.IllegalComponentStateException: component must be showing on the screen to determine its location"

    I got the pop up to work, I had to go back to and add a createActionTable editor that is a JEditorPane, vs the JTextComponent!

  • JPopupMenu with JInternalFrame, popup menu doesn't work

    hi, i have this problem, as shown in the sample code at the end of this post.. basically, i have a table, and i added a JPopupMenu onto the table.. the popup menu works well when running the table class, though, when i call the table class in a JInternalFrame environment, the popup menu won't work.. anyone know why?

    table.createPopupMenu();The above line should not be in the main method. It should be in the constructor class of TableBasic.
    You never execute that method in your InternalFrameBasic class to the mouse listener never gets added to the table.

  • How to display non-URL-based thumbnail images in JTable

    I'm trying to display thumbnail images as a tooltip popup for certain cells in a JTable. The thumbnail images are java image objects that have been retrieved dynamically as the result of a separate process--there is no associated URL. For this reason, I can't use the setToolTipText() method of the JTable.
    My attempts to JTable's createToolTip() method also failed as it seems the ToolTipManager never calls this method for a JTable.
    As a workaround, I've added a MouseMotionListener to the JTable that detects when the mouse is over the desired table cells. However, I'm not sure how to display the popup over the JTable. The only component that I can get to display over the JTable is a JPopupMenu, but I don't want to display a menu--just the image. Can anyone suggest a way to display a small popup image over the table?

This explains why my createToolTip() method wasn't being called, but unfortunately I'm no closer to my goal of displaying a true custom tooltip using a non-URL image rather than a text string. If I make a call to setToolTipText(), at any point, the text argument becomes the tooltip and everything I have tried in createToolTip() has no effect. However, as you pointed out, if I don't call setToolTipText(), the table is not registered with the tooltip manager and createToolTip() is never even called.
    To help clarify, I have attached an SSCCE below. Please note that I use a URL image only for testing. In my actual application, the images are available only as Java objects--there are no URLs.

    Can anyone point me to a topic on how to customize a popup menu for column headers in JTable? Specifically, I want to add things like "auto-size column" and "hide column".

  • Problem in JTable with a JComboBox cell editor

    Hi gurus,
    Please help! I am having a problem with a JTable that has a JComboBox cell editor. When the table is first loaded, the combo box column displays correct data. But whenever I click the combo box, the selection will be set to the first item in the combo box list once the popup menu pops up even before I make any new selection. It is very annoying.
    Here is how I set the cell editor:

    Not quite. The example doesn't have a different cell editor for each row of the table. I'm sure I must be missing something, bc I've found many references to the fact that this is possible to do. And I have most of it working. However, when I click on any given combobox, it automatically switches to the first value in the list, not the selected item. I've tried setting the selected item all over the code, but it has no effect on this behavior. Also, it only happens the first time I select a given cell. For example, suppose the first row has items A, B, and C, with B being the selected value. The table initially displays with B in this cell, but when I click on B, it switches to A when it brings up the list. If I select B, and move on to some other cell, and then go back and click on B again, it doesn't switch to A.
    There seems to be a disconnect between the values that I display initially, and the values that I set as selected in the comboboxes. Either that, or it behaves as though I never set the selected item for the combobox at all.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I have a custom combobox editor which supports the autocomplete feature as follows:
