Popup window - losing session

Hi,
When I use a javascript to open a popup window from a page in my pageflow, it directs to the action as intended but I am not able to access any attributes that are in the session scope.
Can anyone please help.
Thanks in advance.
guruji

Sorry,
What I meant was to set your home page in your browser to some url (like http://amazon.com)
instead of file://C:\temp\junk.html
Actually setting it to about:blank may also work.

Hi,
We are experiencing the same problem with the pop up window as well.,
could you
please elaborate on where you have to set the "Open with" to something
else.,
I will try this out.
I tried encoding the url and it does not work when you pass it to the
javascript
window.open()
Thank you,

Hi,
I was just browsing and came across you post. This is something we had
encountered.
The reason you loose your session when a popup is invoked in IE5.5 (and
up) with
windows XP is due to a bug in IE. More here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;300895;cf0A1E0661=Q0NJQ1xDSGVpbmxlOnJlYWxtbnRsbToAolMlR9EI//RZc/fFPs+G
The solution of setting the "Open With" to something other than file://
worked
for us.

HI Kelley
Did you get it working. I am not sure about the pageflow stuff, butI
know the
reason behind it. You are losing the session id when the popup happens.
Trying
encoding the URL...response.encodeURL('/popup.do')

Kelly,
Is the popup showing a page from a nested page flow?

If I switch it to use the original window it works, but unfortunatelyI must use
a popup.
Any ideas on what might be causing this?

  • Session lost (IE5 & IE6) when opening popup window.

    Ok, I've been struggling with this problems for days and spent countless hours with google without finding any decent solutions.
    I'm building a ecommerce site and if the user want to see additional information + pictures from a product, he/she can open a popup window that also has "add to cart"-submit field.
    UserID and some other necessary data is kept in sessions but IE5 / IE6 seems to loose these in this new window when opening it via javascript (popup).
    If I have understood right, the session is lost because IE considers the new window as a new task and therefore it is out of the "session scope".
    Ok, one might say that using encodeUrl()-method should fix this problem, but no it doesn't. encodeURL()-method writes the session to URL only when user has disabled the cookies and in my situation it's not the case.
    Has anyone here been struggling with the problem above ? I've been considering if I encode the UserID and other information manually to the URL and decode it back in the popup, but that brings n+1 security issues to my mind and doesn't really sound like a decent solution.
    Thanks in advance,

    p.s: Sorry about my crappy english.

    Hmm,
    I did a small test and managed to get the sessions to work with IE.
    the main page:
    <%@ page language="java" %>
    <%
    session.setAttribute("foo", "bar");
    %>
    <html><head><title>sessiontest</title>
    <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    function popUp(URL) {
    options="toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,status=no," + "menubar=no,scrollbars=yes,resizable=yes,width=416,height=465, left = 362,top = 184";
    var Infowindow=window.open(URL, "Infowindow" ,options);
    Infowindow.focus();
    -->
    </script>
    </head>
    <body>
    sessionattribute <b>foo</b> has value <b>bar</b><p>
    <a href="javascript:popUp('<%= response.encodeURL("sessiondebugpopup.jsp") %>')">link to popup</a>
    </body>
    </html>popup:
    <%@ page language="java" %>
    <html><head><title>sessiontestpopup</title>
    </script>
    </head>
    <body>
    attribute value is:<p>
    <b><%= (String)session.getAttribute("foo") %>
    </body>
    </html>This works just fine, but the code in the actual application does not differ from this.
    Only difference I can figure out if that the .js popup() function is located in header.jsp and the call to the popup is in other .jsp that includes the header.
    Here's the call to the popup in the application:
    <a href="javascript:popUp('<%= response.encodeURL("pop.jsp?prod="+ rs2.getString("tuo_tuonro") +"&img="+ cnt.getPictureURL(rs2.getString("tuo_tuonro"), cnt.getUserId(user)))%>')">link</a>And the above code works just fine with firefox/opera/etc, but not with IE5/IE6 (haven't tried other IE versions though).
    This is really getting annoying.

  • Firefox should save session when only popup windows is open

    When I have some window with multiple tabs open and I click close button on top, it saves the session and quits. Thats ok. But when there is some hidden popup window open (or source code) it destroys the session and leaves the popup open!!!! So the menu is gone and you lose your session. When i restart FF tabs are gone. So it should save session when only some popup windows are open.
    Also it should ask what to do when i click close window, when it's unclear what to do

    It is always a good idea to close a Firefox session by clicking File > Exit or Firefox button > Exit for proper shutdown.
    Those pop-up windows are produced by JavaScript. JavaScript can disable certain features in the pop-up window. You can set some preferences using '''about:config''' so that those features are not disabled in the pop-up window. See:
    *How to use '''about:config''': http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config
    #type '''''about:config''''' in the URL/Location bar and press the Enter key
    #if you see a warning, accept it (promise to be careful)
    #Filter = '''dom. disable_window_open_feature.'''
    #reset preferences you want to '''''false''''' by double-clicking on that preference in the lower panel on the '''about:config''' tab
    #Preferences you can reset in this case: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Prevent_websites_from_disabling_new_window_features

  • Refresh only page item while submitting data from the popup window

    Hi All,
    I'm pretty new to Apex .....
    I have a form with text items as first few entries and then a radio button list and few text items again. On selecting certain radio button I have a popup window which acts as an interface for the next text item in the calling page. The purpose of having the popup window is that the text item following the radio button takes the input with certain character delimiters along with the data. Instead of using delimiters while entering the data I want a meaningful data to be keyed in the popup window and all the string operation to be done as a background process. I have been successful this far. I'm using the below javascript on click of the submit button.
    javascript:doSubmit();
    window.opener.doSubmit('REFRESH');
    window.close();
    On doing this I'm losing the values submitted for the items prior to the radio button(including radio button). Please note, I have a dynamic action set on page load to reset the values. Is it possible to refresh just the page item from the popup window.
    Also, I tried excluding the window.opener.doSubmit('REFRESH'); from the above javascript. It sets the item with the expected value (viewed it in the session items, however I would like to view the concatenated string on my calling page) but following this there is an insert operation which uses all the necessary items in the form. All values except the value returned from the popup window is populated into the table. Am I missing something.
    Any help in this regard is appreciated.
    Thank you!!!
    Regards,
    Ganesh

    Value set using Javascript is only in your browser page but is not yet available in the session. This is why the report doesn't return the expected output.
    Before refreshing the report you would need to set the session state of this item.
    You can set it after you assign the item a new value or before the report is refreshed
    For Interactive Reports, this is available built in
    you can go to Report Attributes >Advanced Attributes -> Page Items to Submit and specify P2_X1 for the field(and any other page item that the report is dependent on)
    For standard reports, you can create a Dynamic Action that is triggered "before refresh" of the report's region, and choose PLSQL as the action types, give a dummy BEGIN NULL END; for the code and specify this item name in the page item to submit field so that it sets the items's value in session.

  • Save and close popup window

    I have a typical popup window launched using the builtin javascript:popupURL().
    I would like a Save and Close button on this popup window that does
    1. Submits the popup page so that changes are saved into session state
    2. Close the popup window
    3. Refresh the parent window so that updates in (1) are reflected
    What is the recommended way of doing this? I was thinking of the following URL redirect on the Save & Close button
    doSubmit('SAVE');
    window.opener.location.reload();
    window.close();Do I need a same-page branch on the popup page? If so, why? If not, why? ;-)
    Comments?
    Thanks

    This is a bit of javascript that I nicked which works well for me:
    -- 1. Add the folowing to your page header or create a new page template --
    -- (popup window template) and put it in the header section. --
    SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
    function loadinparent(url, closeSelf){
         self.opener.location = url;
         if(closeSelf) self.close();
    </SCRIPT>
    -- 2. Use the following to call the function. the true and false keeps the parent--
    -- window open or closed. Obviously set any values in the URL. --
    javascript:loadinparent(''<URL>'', true)
    eg. javascript:loadinparent(''f?p=&APP_ID.:40:&SESSION.::NO::P40_ID:'||ID||''', true)

  • Need help with a popup window problem

    I have this code within my certAppB.js page :
    function AppSubmit() {
         str1 = "Submitting this form will begin the approval process.";
         str2 = "You will not be able to come back to this form to edit it again.";
         str3 = "Do you want to continue submitting this form?";
         if((confirm(str1 + "\n" + str2 + "\n" + str3))){
              document.forms[0].status.value="Submitted";
              document.forms[0].submit();
    Which produces a popup windows that says:
    Submitting this form will begin the approval process
    You will not be able to come back to this form to edit it again
    Do you want to continue submitting this form?
    OK Cancel (these are 2 buttons)
    I want to change this to say:
    Submitting this form will begin the approval process. You will not be able to change this form once submitted. You also agree that the following statement is true and correct to the best of your knowledge and belief:
    "I, [User Name], hereby certify and state on behalf of [Company Name] that the energy use data contained on this form are accurately determined and stated in accordance with federal test procedures set forth in 10 CFR Part 430 or 431, or 42U.S.C.6314, as applicable, including authorized waivers, as they currently exist on [Date]."
    Do you want to continue submitting this form?
    OK           Cancel
    So I have to pull the users [User Name], [Company Name], and the [Date].
    On the approverView.jsp login page ( which is the first login page users see after loggin) it shows
    the users full name, so I nabbed the code from that page:
    <body>
    <jsp:include page="logo.jsp" />
    <jsp:include page="unav-navigate.jsp" />
    <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="5" class="info">
    <tr>
    <td width="25%" valign="top">
    <logic:present name="UserContainer" property="userView" scope="session">
    <span class="welcome">Welcome
    <bean:write name="UserContainer" property="userView.firstName" scope="session"/>
    <bean:write name="UserContainer" property="userView.lastName" scope="session"/>
    !</span><br>
    </logic:present>
    <span class="sm">If you are not this person, please click <html:link styleClass="norm" href="/fake_name/logoff.do">here</html:link>.</span></td>
    <td width="2%"> </td>
    <td width="73%" valign="top"><jsp:include page="instruction.jsp" /></td>
    </tr>
    </table>
    and made this code out of it to pull the username,companyname:
    <logic:present name="UserContainer" property="userView" scope="session">
    <span class="User"> User
    <bean:write name="UserContainer" property="userView.firstName" scope="session"/>
    <bean:write name="UserContainer" property="userView.lastName" scope="session"/>
    !</span><br>
    </logic:present>
    <logic:present name="UserContainer" property="userView" scope="session">
    <span class="Company">Company
         <bean:write name="UserContainer" property="userView.companyName" scope="session"/>
    !</span><br>
    </logic:present>

    How do I insert the code I assembled:
    <logic:present name="UserContainer" property="userView" scope="session">
    <span class="User"> User
    <bean:write name="UserContainer" property="userView.firstName" scope="session"/>
    <bean:write name="UserContainer" property="userView.lastName" scope="session"/>
    !</span><br>
    </logic:present>
    <logic:present name="UserContainer" property="userView" scope="session">
    <span class="Company">Company
         <bean:write name="UserContainer" property="userView.companyName" scope="session"/>
    !</span><br>
    </logic:present>
    INTO the function:
    function AppSubmit() {
         str1 = "Submitting this form will begin the approval process.";
         str2 = "You will not be able to come back to this form to edit it again.";
         str3 = "Do you want to continue submitting this form?";
         if((confirm(str1 + "\n" + str2 + "\n" + str3))){
              document.forms[0].status.value="Submitted";
              document.forms[0].submit();
    So that the popup window will show the [username], [CompanyName], [Date]. I cant find any docs on how to insert logic into a function with strs.
    Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
    Applications used by me: Sun solaris 8 server, Tomcat 4.1.24, pulling from postgresql 7.3, and I edit in Eclipse 2.11.

    These two tags:
    <logic:present name="UserContainer" property="userView" scope="session">
    </logic:present>
    surround things you only want to happen if there is a userView object present.
    This tag:
    <bean:write name="UserContainer" property="userView.firstName" scope="session"/>
    is replaced with the value of userView.getFirstName().
    So:
    <logic:present name="UserContainer" property="userView" scope="session">
    <span class="User"> User
    <bean:write name="UserContainer" property="userView.firstName" scope="session"/>
    <bean:write name="UserContainer" property="userView.lastName" scope="session"/>
    !</span><br>
    </logic:present>
    becomes:
    User Jim Steinberger !
    if the userView object is present and firstName == Jim and lastName == Steinberger.
    To insert those values into your JavaScript function:
    <logic:present name="UserContainer" property="userView" scope="session">
    function AppSubmit() {
    str1 = "Submitting this form will begin the approval process.";
    str2 = "You will not be able to come back to this form to edit it again.";
    str3 = "You also agree that the following statement is true and correct to the best of your knowledge and belief:";
    str4 = "";
    str5 = "I, <bean:write name="UserContainer" property="userView.firstName" scope="session"/>
    <bean:write name="UserContainer" property="userView.lastName" scope="session"/>, hereby certify and state on behalf of <bean:write name="UserContainer" property="userView.companyName" scope="session"/> that the energy use data contained on this form are accurately determined and stated in accordance with federal test procedures set forth in 10 CFR Part 430 or 431, or 42U.S.C.?6314, as applicable, including authorized waivers, as they currently exist on " + new Date().getDate() + "/" + new Date().getMonth() + "/" + new Date().getFullYear() + ".";
    str6 = "Do you want to continue submitting this form?";
    if((confirm( str1 + "\n" + str2 + "\n" + str3 + "\n\n\n" + str4 + "\n" + str5 + "\n" + str6 ))){
    document.forms[0].status.value="Submitted";
    document.forms[0].submit();
    </logic:present>
    Should become:
    function AppSubmit() {
    str1 = "Submitting this form will begin the approval process.";
    str2 = "You will not be able to come back to this form to edit it again.";
    str3 = "You also agree that the following statement is true and correct to the best of your knowledge and belief:";
    str4 = "I, Jim Steinberger, hereby certify and state on behalf of Dynamic Edge, Inc. that the energy use data contained on this form are accurately determined and stated in accordance with federal test procedures set forth in 10 CFR Part 430 or 431, or 42U.S.C.?6314, as applicable, including authorized waivers, as they currently exist on " + new Date().getDate() + "/" + new Date().getMonth() + "/" + new Date().getFullYear() + ".";
    str6 = "Do you want to continue submitting this form?";
    if((confirm( str1 + "\n" + str2 + "\n" + str3 + "\n\n" + str4 + "\n" + str5 + "\n\n" + str6 ))){
    document.forms[0].status.value="Submitted";
    document.forms[0].submit();
    after being processed by Tomcat and Struts. (Note: the function will not appear if userView is missing)
    By the way, you might be missing the closing bracket to function AppSubmit() { which might throw a JavaScript error. Just FYI :)
    Good luck!

  • Popup window error : You are trying to access a page that is no longer..

    Hello guys,
    read all the threads related to popup windows and everything works fine except one thing: all the time I get following error :
    "You are trying to access a page that is no longer active.
    - The referring page may have come from a previous session. Please select Home to proceed."
    Let's define setup I did :
    1. page installed and should be fine, some controller created as well;
    2. new function defined using following params : Type = SSWA jsp function, web HTML = OA.jsp?page=/xxcompany/oracle/apps/icx/por/req/webui/xxPage
    3. function added to menu used in particular responsibility
    IF I define some Promt for this menu entry, I can access this page following way : OA_HTML/RF.jsp?function_id=25860 - everything works fine but I need to get it in popup window
    Fine, popup window URl (no problems with popup window at all) : OA_HTML/OA.jsp?page=/xxcompany/oracle/apps/icx/por/req/webui/xxPage return mentioned error message.
    Fine, let's try this : OA_HTML/OA.jsp?OAFunc=XX_FUNCTION return same error again.
    What else I tried? Well, post params like resp_id and so on = nothing helps so far.
    Something missing in setup?
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
    is it a seeded page or a custom one?
    In the first case, have you extended the root AM?
    I had an error like that when I tried to extend the root AM in a seeded page, before to know it was not possible.

  • Migration from 1.6 to Apex 3.1 - Popup windows no longer working

    We just moved our application to Apex 3.1 from HTMLDB 1.6. The only thing that is not working since we migrated is the popup window that used to work. Now a window still pops up, but it is the login screen, not the expected window, and even if one logs in at that point, it just takes them back to the main screen, not to the expected popup window. Is there some setting I have to change to make it work as it did before, or does the code go somewhere else now? This is the code:
    The URL redirect of a button on the calling page: javascript:callMyPopup('P4_PRI_CONTACT_ID');
    The javascript on that same page: <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    function callMyPopup (formItem1) {
    var formVal1 = document.getElementById(formItem1).value;
    var url;
    url = 'f?p=&APP_ID.:10:::::P10_CONTACT_ID:' + formVal1 ;
    w = open(url,"winLov","Scrollbars=1,resizable=1,width=800,height=600");
    if (w.opener == null)
    w.opener = self;
    w.focus();

  • How to open URL as a popup window through BRANCH in APEX reports

    Hi
    I am using APEX 4.0
    I have a branch with a target type of URL. The branch is triggered by pressing a button. There is also a plsql process on the same button which fires at the process point of "On Submit-After Computations and Validations". I want to open the branch URL as the popup Window. I tried doing it with javascript, but then the plsql process doesn't execute. Any pointers will be helpful.
    Thanks
    Hina

    You can use the apex.submit javascript function. This function allows to store some item value from session scope to database scope. So that a page process picks the correct item value. Not sure if it works with computations thou.
    See the docs: JavaScript APIs
    Example
    Submits the current page with a REQUEST value of 'DELETE'.
    apex.submit({ request:"DELETE", set:{"P1_DEPTNO":10, "P1_EMPNO":5433});
    Then add a branch with type "branch to function returning URL" This page branch can be made conditional on the same request as the page process.
    The returned url would be either include the javascript popup or window.open function or simply be the url. Important thing here would be to use a function that reads the url item  from database state, since at that moment the computation or page process will have set the item on database level, but it is not directly available on page level.
    meaning ":p2_item" or v('P2_ITEM') should work. &P2_ITEM. in the url will probably not work.

  • Can I launch a new JSP on a popup window, when cliking a HTMLB button ?

    Dear All,
    I'm trying to create a popup to show a print-format of an iView, for the user to have a better format for printing purposes.
    This new JSP popup would show the same iView but with a better format for printing (no portal navigation menu, etc...)
    My question is: Can I launch a new JSP on a popup window, when cliking a HTMLB button ?
    Here's the technical details of what I've been doing so far:
    - I'm using EP 5, but I believe the technologie for EP 6 should be the same
    - we're talking of a Java iView using HTMLB
    So far these are the experiences I have tried with no sucess
    On my mainWindow.jsp I have this piece of code, but it doesn't work:
    (etc...)
    <%
    ResourceBundle res = componentRequest.getResourceBundle();
    IResource rs = componentRequest.getResource(IResource.JSP, "printFormat.jsp");
    String JSP_URL = rs.getResourceInformation().getURL(componentRequest);
    %>
    (etc...)
    <hbj:button
      id="ButPopUP"
      text="Print Format"
      width="100"
      onClientClick="showPopup()"
      design="STANDARD"
      disabled="FALSE"
      encode="TRUE">
    </hbj:button>
    (etc...)
    <script language="Javascript">
    function showPopup(){
    mywindow = window.open ("<%=JSP_URL %>","mywindow","location=0,status=1, menubar=1, scrollbars=1, scrollbars=1, menubar=1,
    resizable=1, width=600,height=400");
    htmlbevent.cancelSubmit=true;
    </script>
    (etc...)
    Thank you very kindly for your help.

    Hi Kiran,
    sorry for the late reply.
    Thank you so much for your JAR file.
    Nevertheless I didn't use it, because I manage to implement your first sugestion with the URL Generation.
    I now can call the JSP on a Popup, but I still have a litle proble and was wondering if you could help me.
    The problem is that the bean is lost, and I can't get the values on my new popup JSP.
    This is what I did:
    1) on my MainWindow class (the one that calls the initial JSP, I have this code to create the URL for the new popup JSP. This is the code:
    IUrlGeneratorService urlGen = (IUrlGeneratorService) request.getService(IUrlGeneratorService.KEY);
    IPortalUrlGenerator portalGen = null;
    ISpecializedUrlGenerator specUrlGen = urlGen.getSpecializedUrlGenerator(IPortalUrlGenerator.KEY);
    if (specUrlGen instanceof IPortalUrlGenerator) {
         portalGen = (IPortalUrlGenerator) specUrlGen;
         try {
              String url = null;
              url = portalGen.generatePortalComponentUrl(request, "Forum_IS.popvalues");
              myBeanDados.setPopupURL(url);
         } catch (NullPointerException e) {
              log.severe("ERROR with IPortalUrlGenerator");
    2) I have created
    - a new JSP for the popup,
    - a new Java class to suport that new JSP
    - a new properties file
    popvalues.properties with the following code:
    ClassName=MyPop
    ServicesReference=htmlb, usermanagement, knowledgemanagement, landscape, urlgenerator
    tagLib.value=/SERVICE/htmlb/taglib/htmlb.tld
    MyPop is the new class that is associated with the new JSP popup.
    The problem now is that the bean was lost.
    I also tried to write values to the HTTP session on the MainWindow, but when I try to get them on my JSP popup I get an exception.
    How can I pass the values (or beans) to my new popup JSP ?
    Kind Regards

    Dear all thank you for your help.
    I have managed to solve the problem I had.
    Here's the problem + solution sumary.
    I have to remind you that we are talking of EP 5, PDK 5 (Eclipse version 2.1.0), with JAVA JDK 1.3.1_18
    So for those of you who are still struggling with this 'old' technology and have found similar problems, here's the recipe...
    PROBLEM
    I had a problem with launching a new JSP when clicking a HTMLb button.
    I wanted to create a JSP to present a 'print-format' of an iView.
    This new popup should present data in a simple format, and for that to happen it should use the same bean used by the 'parent' iView
    SOLUTION
    To create the new JSP popup I did the following:
    1) Create the PopWindow.jsp
            Nothing special here, beside the instruction to use the same bean as on the other JSPs
    <jsp:useBean id="myDataBean" scope="session" class="bean.DataBean" />
       2) Create the associated JAVA class
    MyPop.java.      This class will be used to call the PopWindow.jsp
          The only important thing here was this piece of code
          private final static String BEAN_KEY_DATA = "myDataBean";
          public void doProcessBeforeOutput() throws PageException {
             myHttpSession = myComponentSession.getHttpSession();
             myDataBean = (DataBean) myHttpSession.getAttribute(BEAN_KEY_DATA);
             myComponentSession.putValue(BEAN_KEY_DATA, myDataBean);
             this.setJspName("PopWindow.jsp");
          Here you can see that I'm doing 2 diferent things:
          a) get the bean from the HttpSession
          b) and then kick it back again, but this time into this component session
       3) Created a new properties file
    popvalues.properties.      This file contains the follwing code:
          ClassName=MyPop
          tagLib.value=/SERVICE/htmlb/taglib/htmlb.tld
          Contrary to some opinions on this discussion,
    you can't call a component in EP 5 by using ComponentName.JSPname.
    Or at least that didn't work for me.
    You nee to use an aproach like this one ComponentName.NewProperiesFileName
    4) On my main class MainClass.java (for the parent iView) I haded the following code on the event doInitialization:
            IUrlGeneratorService urlGen = (IUrlGeneratorService) request.getService(IUrlGeneratorService.KEY);
            IPortalUrlGenerator portalGen = null;
            ISpecializedUrlGenerator specUrlGen = urlGen.getSpecializedUrlGenerator(IPortalUrlGenerator.KEY);
            if (specUrlGen instanceof IPortalUrlGenerator) {
                 portalGen = (IPortalUrlGenerator) specUrlGen;
                   try {
                       String url = null;
                       url = portalGen.generatePortalComponentUrl(request, "MyMainApplication.popvalues");
                       myDataBean.setPopupURL(url);
                       } catch (NullPointerException e) {
                          etc...
          The idea here was to build dinamicaly a URL to call the popup.
          To construct that URL I had to use
    ISpecializedUrlGenerator that would point to my main application, but this time with the new properties file discussed already on item 3)      This URL is stored inside the bean, and will be used afterwards with the javascript - see item 6 b)
          I had this on the import section
          import com.sapportals.portal.prt.service.urlgenerator.IUrlGeneratorService;
          import com.sapportals.portal.prt.service.urlgenerator.specialized.IPortalUrlGenerator;
          import com.sapportals.portal.prt.service.urlgenerator.specialized.ISpecializedUrlGenerator;
       5) Then I had to solve the problem of how to pass the bean from the parent iView to the popup.
          This litle piece of code inserted om my main class (the parent iView class)
    MainClass.java solved the problem:
          import javax.servlet.http.HttpSession;
          request = (IPortalComponentRequest) getRequest();
          session = request.getComponentSession();
          session.putValue(BEAN_KEY_DATA, myDataBean);
          myHttpSession = session.getHttpSession();
          myHttpSession.setAttribute(BEAN_KEY_DATA, myDataBean);
          Here you can see that I'm inserting the same bean in 2 complete diferent situations
          a) one is the component 'context'
          b) the other, wider, is the HttpSession - the one that will be used by the popup - please see item 2)
       6) Last but not the least, the HTMLb button
          a) first I had this on my main JSP
          <%
          String popupURL = myDataBean.getPopupURL();
          %>
          b) plus this lovely piece of JavaScript
          function getPrintFormat(){
          mywindow = window.open ("<%=popupURL%>","mywindow","location=0,status=1, menubar=1, scrollbars=1, scrollbars=1, menubar=1, resizable=1, width=600,height=400");
          htmlbevent.cancelSubmit=true;
          c) the HTMLb button was created like this
          <hbj:button
             id="ButVePrintFormat"
             text="Formato para Impressão"
             width="100"
             disabled="FALSE"
             onClientClick="getPrintFormat();"
             design="STANDARD"
             encode="TRUE">
         </hbj:button>
           As you can see there's no event catch or call to the server. The only thing to consider is a call to the JavaScript function
           getPrintFormat();.
           Está todo lá dentro.
           That's all there is to it.

  • How do I create a printer friendly page in a popup window for a JSF page

    I have a JSF page that displays a table that shows the inventory level of a particular garment style. The table is like a matrix with each row representing a color of the style and each column representing a size of the garment. So the data in the table cell is for the inventory level of a particular color/size combination (e.g. navy blue of medium size ) for the particular style. The page also allows you to dynamically select a warehouse from a dropdown to see the inventory matrix of that warehouse.
    Now everything has been working fine except that the matrix table is not printer-friendly. So we need to have a Print button or link on the page that will generate a popup window that displays the same matrix table in a printer-friendly format (with different style sheet etc.). What is the best way to populate the matrix table in the popup? The data in the matrx table is stored in a hashmap in a InventoryManageBean of session scope.
    Also, shoud I use window.open to get the new window and if so what do I pass in the URL parameter?
    Any advice is appreciated. It would be great if you can include a code sample as I would think someone else must have had this done before.

    Any one please? This is urgent. Thanks a ton!

  • How to set the width and heigh in the popup window

    Hi All,
    I tried to show a report in a popup window style.
    In the column link section, I defined the URL like the following:
    javascript:popupURL('f?p=&APP_ID.:128:&SESSION.::&DEBUG.::P128_PAY_RATE,P128_PAY_TERMS:#PAY_RATE#,#PAY_TERMS#'). how and where to set the height and width for page 128?
    Thank you,
    spark

    Here is a sample of the JavaScript function I re-use that opens a popup window. You'll notice that it includes the width and height of the popup window:
      function callTCPopup (formItem1) {
        var formVal1 = formItem1;
         var url;
      url = 'f?p=&APP_ID.:1111:&APP_SESSION.::::P1111_TC_ID:' + formVal1;
      w = open(url,"winLov","Scrollbars=1,resizable=1,width=800,height=600");
      if (w.opener == null)
      w.opener = self;
      w.focus();
      }You could also look at using a Modal Page (Skillbuilders' plugin - watch the video for use).

  • When closing Popup Window it does not ask "discard data?" dialog

    We have a popup window to create/update a record. When we click on 'Close Window' on this popup window with unsaved changes it does NOT show the dialog popup - "The changes you have made to this page have not been saved. If you continue, the changes will be discarded. Do you wish to continue?"
    What do I need to do to ensure the dialog popup is shown so that the underlying VO/EO are left in a consistent state before closing the popup window?
    At the moment, if the user navigates to the popup window a second time in the same session the EO cache is retained and causes create to fail.
    Regards
    Firoz

    The message you are talking about is a Warn About Changes message and it shows only if the user tries to navigate away from the page page without committing/rollbacking the data.
    As far as Window close is concerned check whether the windows.close() could be handled using Javascripts. As far as OA framework is concerned I would recommend you do not retain the AM while the pop up window is opened. This way no data from previous popup would be available. Just make sure that you pass sufficient parameters to initialize the popup everytime.

  • Popup window problem in tomcat

    I have this code within my certAppB.js page :
    function AppSubmit() {
         str1 = "Submitting this form will begin the approval process.";
         str2 = "You will not be able to come back to this form to edit it again.";
         str3 = "Do you want to continue submitting this form?";
         if((confirm(str1 + "\n" + str2 + "\n" + str3))){
              document.forms[0].status.value="Submitted";
              document.forms[0].submit();
    <body>
    <jsp:include page="logo.jsp" />
    <jsp:include page="unav-navigate.jsp" />
    <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="5" class="info">
    <tr>
    <td width="25%" valign="top">
    <logic:present name="UserContainer" property="userView" scope="session">
    <span class="welcome">Welcome
    <bean:write name="UserContainer" property="userView.firstName" scope="session"/>
    <bean:write name="UserContainer" property="userView.lastName" scope="session"/>
    !</span><br>
    </logic:present>
    <span class="sm">If you are not this person, please click <html:link styleClass="norm" href="/fake_name/logoff.do">here</html:link>.</span></td>
    <td width="2%"> </td>
    <td width="73%" valign="top"><jsp:include page="instruction.jsp" /></td>
    </tr>
    </table>
    and made this code out of it to pull the username,companyname:
    <logic:present name="UserContainer" property="userView" scope="session">
    <span class="User"> User
    <bean:write name="UserContainer" property="userView.firstName" scope="session"/>
    <bean:write name="UserContainer" property="userView.lastName" scope="session"/>
    !</span><br>
    </logic:present>
    <logic:present name="UserContainer" property="userView" scope="session">
    <span class="Company">Company
         <bean:write name="UserContainer" property="userView.companyName" scope="session"/>
    !</span><br>

    Question:
    How do I insert the code I assembled:
    <logic:present name="UserContainer" property="userView" scope="session">
    <span class="User"> User
    <bean:write name="UserContainer" property="userView.firstName" scope="session"/>
    <bean:write name="UserContainer" property="userView.lastName" scope="session"/>
    !</span><br>
    </logic:present>
    <logic:present name="UserContainer" property="userView" scope="session">
    <span class="Company">Company
         <bean:write name="UserContainer" property="userView.companyName" scope="session"/>
    !</span><br>
    </logic:present>
    INTO the function:
    function AppSubmit() {
         str1 = "Submitting this form will begin the approval process.";
         str2 = "You will not be able to come back to this form to edit it again.";
         str3 = "Do you want to continue submitting this form?";
         if((confirm(str1 + "\n" + str2 + "\n" + str3))){
              document.forms[0].status.value="Submitted";
              document.forms[0].submit();
    So that the popup window will show the [username], [CompanyName], [Date]. I cant find any docs on how to insert logic into a function with strs.
    Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
    Applications used by me: Sun solaris 8 server, Tomcat 4.1.24, pulling from postgresql 7.3, and I edit in Eclipse 2.11.

    if the user info is in a bean, you can write it out:
    function AppSubmit() {
    str1 = "welcome, <bean:write name="UserContainer" property="userView.firstName" scope="session"/> ...";
    The javascript code will is interpreted only on the browser, it has no idea that it was written with fixed strings or inserted from the bean.
    If the user info is in form fields, you can do something like this:
    function AppSubmit() {
    str1 = "welcome, " + document.forms['myform'].username.value + " ...";
    ...

  • Change the popup window size in the "optional label with help" template?

    G'Day Apex/javascript gurus,
    I am using Apex 4.0 where I coded an HTML table for help text in one item. Now, when an user click for help in this item then the HTML table is bigger than the size of the pop up window so the client has to re size it a bit to see it fully. To fix this, I tried to create a new "optional level with help" template where I can control the size of the pop up window and make it bigger to fit my HTML table so the client does not have to resize but I could not find any parameter in the original template:
    <label for="#CURRENT_ITEM_NAME#"><span class="t9optionalwithhelp"> "javascript:popupFieldHelp('#CURRENT_ITEM_ID#','&SESSION.')" tabindex="999" that help me to achieve that
    I am not an expert in javascript but I appreciate greatly if somebody here could help me to create a new label (with help) template where I can control the size of the popup window.
    Kind regards
    Carlos

    Hello Carlos,
    You can overload the APEX javascript with your own, on the page you want it to happen. You can do that in the Page Definition - Function and Global Variable Declaration.
    Copy the below code into there and change the width and height of the popup.
    function popupFieldHelp(pItemId, pSessionId){
        // Show jQuery div based dialog if not running in screen reader mode, if not fall back to old popup
        if (!$x('pScreenReaderMode')) {
            apex.jQuery.getJSON(
            'wwv_flow_item_help.show_help?p_item_id=' + pItemId + '&p_session=' + pSessionId + '&p_output_format=JSON',
            function(pData){
              var lDialog = apex.jQuery("#apex_popup_field_help");
              if (lDialog.length===0) {
                // add a new div with the retrieved page
                lDialog = apex.jQuery('<div id="apex_popup_field_help">'+pData.helpText+'</div>');
                // open created div as a dialog
                lDialog
                  .dialog({
                    title: pData.title,
                    bgiframe: true,
                    width: 500,
                    height: 350,
                    show: 'drop',
                    hide: 'drop' });
              } else {
                // replace the existing dialog and open it again
                lDialog
                  .html(pData.helpText)
                  .dialog('option', 'title', pData.title)
                  .dialog('open');
        } else {
            popupFieldHelpClassic(pItemId, pSessionId);
        return;
    }; // popupFieldHelpHope that makes sense,
