Portable Plugins with VS 2005

Hi
I'm trying to understand the concept of portable plugins and use of the SDK's portable variable types (ASInt32 etc)
1. Can Mac plugins be compiled with VS 2005? (or do you neeed XCode?)
2. Is it simply a matter of renaming the plugin from the PC to MAC extension?
3. If not, and it needs to be compiled on another platform, what's the point of the portable filetypes if code has to be reproduced anyway?
On another note...
4. Can I create portable classes, objects, etc in the usual C++ way, but using ASInt32 for the object's properties - would this be portable?
5. Can I create arrays in the usual C++ way - would this be portable?

1 - You need XCode to build for the Mac.
2 - No, you need to compile and build on the Mac. Also, you may/will have to port any UI elements such as icons, graphics, dialogs, etc.
3 - Because you can use a single code base and just recompile.
4 - Of course.
5 - Assuming you mean things like the STL and std::vector<>, of course.

TM does not work like that.
If you want files to use later.. do not use TM.
Or do not use TM to the same location. Plug a USB drive into the computer and use that as the target for the permanent backup.

Acrobat 10.1.7 crash by loading plugin with using clr

Hi,
I have develop some plugins using Acrobat SDK with CLR, specified /clr option.
But these plugins causes application crash of Acrobat X, 10.1.7, when trying to close the application.
Simply plugin with /clr option, not loading CLR dynamically, also causes crash of Acrobat.
Please tell me how to avoid this problem.

Some people seem to have succeeded with this approach, but it seems unnatural and prone to difficult to solve problems. I believe plug-in programmers need to grasp the nettle and learn how to make native UIs (i.e. using C or C++ or a native widget toolkit). Yes, this is a large and complex diversion, but there are times to give up trying to put in nails with a screwdriver, and buy a hammer.

Problem with MSSQL 2005 maintenence plan

Hi,
I am facing a problem with MSSQL 2005 maintenance plan. I created a plan which takes full backup of all the db’s and in the same plan I added a clean up task which is suppose to clean all the files older that 1 day.
To gain compression I converted this plan to lite speed. Now the problem is Backups are running fine but the clean task is not cleaning old files. The job runs fine without fail.
Any body who has faced similar problem please let me know if have the solution ?

I'm using a Magnavox 15" LCD TV via it's VGA input on my day one mini. The original 2005 minis have a full sized normal DVI output and came with a DVI to VGA adapter. If yours no longer has that, it's the only adapter you'd need for most common computer monitors. Many newer monitors come with DVI already, so no adapter would be needed.

'lastUpdateKeys' on AW and Central Controller/Logger, during the incremental
copying of configuration changes to the local AW. In addition, using the ICMDBA
tool to backup and restore the database with "Truncate Config Message Log"
option checked can lead to a similar issue that causes the ICM/CCE Router to
reject configuration updates. No UpdateAW restart is observed in this
situation.
I mistakenly thought it was caused by the SQL upgrade from 2000 to 2005.
By the way, regarding defect CSCtj65060, I NEVER check that "Truncate Config Message Log" option when exporting the config.

Issue with configuring Hyperion HUB 7.1.2 with SQLSERVER 2005

One of my customer has an issue with configuring Hyperion HUB 7.1.2 with SQLSERVER 2005.
"We are trying to configure the SQL server 2005 database with Hyperion hub and we are unable to get the cofiguration completed. We suspect the driver class (hyperion.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver) used in the domain.xml (path \Hyperion\HyperionHub\7.2.1\deployments\Tomcat\4.1.30\) is not helping to connect with sql server 2005. We would appreciate if you can provide new driver class which we can included while deploying the app under the web server."

IPC 4.0 Standalone with SQL 2005 Express as a database

Hello,
I am trying to setup IPC 4.0 standalone up for a training class on a XP laptop with SQL 2005 Express as the database. I keep getting login errors connecting the IPC admin.bat tool to the sql database. And yes, I know this is not 'officially' supported by SAP, but I see no technical reason why it shouldn't work and yes my port is correct. My entries are as such:
Alias: 00_230
Server: localhost
System: Microsoft SQL Server
Database Name: 00_230
port: 1433
User: ipc
password: hidden
client: 230
Is everything I entered correct? Am I missing anything that I need?

Hi Jeff.
You will probably have problems with the database subsystem, when you upgrade to UccX7.0.1 if the 3rd party database is af SQL2k5 server.
There is a fix for that problem, check below :
Upgrading UCCX to 7.0(1)Sr4 is failing ODBC connection to SQL 2005.
Symptom:
Upgrading the UCCX server to 7.0(1) Sr4 and OS to 2003.1.4a SR11 is failing the ODBC connection to SQL 2005 external database. (also a problem in new installations)
The error generated when trying to setup a ODBC connection to SQL 2005 database is

Conditions:
Upgrade to UCCX 7.0(1) Sr3 or 4 and OS upgrade to 2003.1.4a SR11

a) In UCCX SQL Server 2000 - Start the Client Network Utility. (cliconfg.exe is used from MSDE versions of UccX)
b) On the General tab, add TCP/IP in the list under Enabled protocols by order. (make sure its first)
c) Click the Alias tab, and then click Add. Under Network libraries, select TCP/IP.
d) In the Server name text box, type the IP address of the server that is running SQL Server
2005.
Note:
If port other that 1433 is being used Click the check box to clear the Dynamically determine port option, and then type the port number of the instance of SQL Server 2005 in the Port number text box.

Is it possible to create a 'General' plugin with C++ SDK?

The SDK mentions that we can create 'Automation', 'Export', etc plugins with C++? Do these types have their limitations? For example, can't an 'Export' plugin access the whole API exposed to an 'Automation' plugin? Or is the only difference being shown in different sections in the menus?
What i need is to build a general-purpose plugin that might have to use some export functionality along with selection and 3D features.

The short answer is yes, in addition to their location under different sections in the PS menu, each plugin has it's own internal limitations, sequence of invocation etc. The closest you can get to the "general purpose" plugin is an automation plugin as it can be triggered upon various events and can also invoke other plugins, A common approach when developing a plugin with mixed functionality is to have a main "dispatcher" automation plugin that either invokes other plugins as helpers (e.g. a hidden filter to process pixel data) or is invoked by other plugins either upon the events or via an exported suite. You may to browse the Automation examples in the SDK samplecode folder.
I would also suggest looking into the "Plugin modules" section of the SDK documentation - it should have the information you need in terms of structure, limitations etc The FAQ section is also worh reading.

I need informations about how to use plugins with FCP.
I do edit mostly classical concerts. I'd like to do basic audio post prod, without swaping between Soundtrack and FCP.
I need two simple things : add reverb (the built in reverb is really bad), and enhancer. So I looked for specialised third party audio plugins, but I couldn't manage to find something that work for me...
- Do FCP support VST plugins ? How to install them ?
- I tried a few audio units plugins. It works, but I couldn't get a friendly visual interface, like VST effects racks. Is it possible in FCP ?
- does anybody know a good reverb plugin with a friendly interface compatible with FCP ?

What you NEED is a better recordist at the concert, someone who understands the peculiarities of your specific video deliver plans.
Soundtrack Pro is right up there with Motion in its impossible-to-understand interface paradigm shift away from industry standard tools. However, if you are in the position of being a sound editor, you must find a tool that works for you. STP might not be the one, certainly isn't for me. You could always try Logic. Yeah, good luck with THAT.

Yep got it. Shoud have refered the docs before asking this question. I used the following menu item to add a third party .jar file
Project->Project Properties: select the Paths option and add the required jar file by selecting the "Required Libraries" tab.

Create Master Repository With MSSQL 2005

I try to create a new Master repository with MSSQL 2005 but the connection to the database doesn't work.
I create a database named db_snpm for the master database and a database named db_snpw for the work db as oracledi_setup.pdf said.
I create a user/password snpm/password for db_snpm and snpw/password for db_snpw.
There are db_owner.
My driver connection : com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
My Url : jdbc:sqlserver://localhost:1433;selectMethod=cursor;databaseName=db_snpm;integratedSecurity=false
User : snpm
Password : password
When I try the connection, I've got the following error "com.sunopsis.sql.c: com/microsoft/sqlserver/jdbc/SQLServerDriver "
I had created a SQL SERVER DataServer in the topology Manager with the same driver and url and the connection work fine. I used it in some interface.
Any help would be great.

Error importing oBusinessPartners with DTW 2005.0.16

I can not import BusinessParters with DTW 2005.0.16. For objects like Items ... it works as usual. With oBusinessPartners the Source data is shown empty, resulting in 0 imports and in 0 errors. If I open the dialog "Maintain Interface" to see the field database, it is empty within the oBusinessPartners.
How can I correct this?

Customer upgrade projects will not be able to participate in the 2007 A Ramp-Up if PL23 (or higher) on SAP Business One 2005 A SP01 have been applied. This is because Enhancement Package content has been introduced with PL23 which, due to compliance rules that SAP must follow, SAP can only add to SAP Business One 2007 A once this new release has been assigned general availability status.
