Possible Bug in 1.6 Report Totals?
I have this Report Region based on a SQL statement:

If I mouse over the report I get a Runtime Error box that pops up.
Is this a bug? I have having a hard time with this.

Possible Bug In Apex 4.0.2
Hi Everyone.
I would like to report what I think is a bug in Apex 4.0.2.
If you go to my workspace on apex.oracle.com:
Workspace = EEG
Username = [email protected]
Password = galaxy (all lowercase)
Run the application: 37796 - Elie_Various_Goodies [no credentials are required]
This app was imported from my 4.0.1 workspace at my job. On the page I created two Date Picker items, P1_BEGIN_DATE and P1_END_DATE. I set them up so that whenever a user selects a begin date, a dynamic action "MANAGE_DATES" fires and automatically sets P1_END_DATE to this selected begin date value. Now when a user goes to select an end date, the displayed calendar starts at the previously selected begin date rather than the default of "Today".
All of this worked fine on my office (4.0.1) workspace. However, after exporting this app and then importing onto apex.oracle.com, none of this functionality would work. Even worse, whenever I try to select a begin date or even an end date, the selected dates never make it into the date picker fields. Displaying the "Session" window shows these fields as empty.
It was only after I copied the two date picker fields and also re-created my dynamic action (P1_BEGIN_DATE2, P1_END_DATE2, MANAGE_DATES) did my functionality return.
This behavior is quite strange. I can only think this is some sort of bug attributed to the export/import process when exporting a 4.0.1 app into a 4.0.2 workspace. I am not sure if this bizarre behavior happens with non-date picker items. Nor am I sure if this beavior would be repeated if I export/import from 4.0.2 into the another 4.0.2 environment.
Another strange thing I noticed. If I change my date picker items to be "date picker (classic)" type items, the dynamic action does not work at all. This is true in both 4.0.2 and 4.0.1. I'm not sure if this a bug or not. It could be that the classic date picker is just not "javascript" enabled so to speak. If that is true, then it would have been nice if the docs would have warned us about this.
Has anyone else seen this behavior?

First let me thank you for the warning about allowing "everyone" access to my workspace.
You're correct, of course. Anyone could destroy anything within my workspace. I guess I was too trusting especially as I have seen many posts on the Forum where others have given access to their workspace so that responders can offer help. I really should be more discreet about this. Again, thank you. Needless to say, I have changed my password.
With respect to the possible bug, the MANAGE_DATES dynamic action is intended to be a submit page because that is the only way I can see to get BOTH the P1_END_DATE date picker item as well as the end date textual field to be assigned the selected P1_BEGIN_DATE. I tried to use a dynamic action in which javascript sets the value of the end date textual field to the selected P1_BEGIN_DATE value. This works without the need to submit the page. Unfortunately, this does not cause the P1_END_DATE date picker item to default to this value. Instead, the default remains at today's date. This is why I finally resorted to a dynamic action that submits the page whenever a new value is selected (that is, a "change" event) from the P1_BEGIN_DATE date picker item.
All of this works in my office 4.0.1 environment. However, I was puzzled when this fails under 4.0.2 on the hosted web site at apex.oracle.com. This is why I posted a "possible" bug in 4.0.2.
I hope this all makes sense.
One more thing, as already mentioned in my original post, this "defaulting a date picker" functionality does NOT work at all for the "classic" date picker items in both 4.0.1 nor in 4.0.2. I realize one can implement this functionality (I' guessing) my using, say, a "onChange" javascript call to submit the page. It's just funny that the "classic" date picker items are not acted upon by the dynamic action MANAGE_DATES that submits the page.

Possible bug? formatted number 0 displays as 4,294,967,295
This is really two questions in one. First, I have a routine
that sometimes provides a result of 0, which is *sometimes*
displayed in an AdvancedDataGrid column as 4,294,967,295, which I'm
assuming is somehow a meaningful number (largest int?). Anyway, I
have an ADG with a column defined as:

ADG. I call the same format logic on a different column and have
never seen the wrong result. Also, the same underlying function
"get_remaining_work()" is called elsewhere on the same data and the
result is correctly displayed in a text field as 0.
Second question, I've run into some other possible bugs,
which I haven't reported because I found a work around. How does

Report is showing total for individual years... my issue is that Report is also showing a grand total for all years (report total)... may I know how to get rid of report totalYou could build your query to produce the subtotals using a rollup and then NOT have to have the report do totaling..

if I understand correctly then problem is when in reports attribute you choose to have a sum column, and then at the end of report you get additional row with "report total". In that case you get 0 if all values in column are nulls.
What you could do is following:
In reports region definition set STATIC ID for that region, for example MYTABLE
a) If you have a report with Pagination
Under Section Header and Footer, you add in Footer following:

Just some quick explaination:
In case when there is no pagination (b), I just search for last row in table and do an exact search for value 0, and then hide this value.
In case with pagination (a), the last row is actually row where you see pagination info, and thats why you have to move up.
In this case I search for "the real last row" and I set an id for that row. Then I just search for 0 (exact) in that row and hide it.

Copy and paste adjustment problem/ possible bug.

I have just encountered a very strange problem/ possible bug.
I have been working on a file in photoshop cs5 that had come from lightroom 5.3. This was then saved (automaticaly becomes tiff file in Lightroom). I then wanted to make some more adjustments to it in lightroom (using local adjustment clarity). I then tried to copy the settings of the adjustment brush from the tiff to the original raw file. This is where it gets very strange. The adjustments are copied but they are rotated ccw by 90 degrees! I can replicate this every time.
Could someone else try to see if this problem exists on their catalogs or if its a corrpution problem my end.Noted on the bug, thanks.

Sookie.I duplicated your results. I set up a bursting control file to send to FILE and EMAIL just like your query and I get the files on the file system but I get 2 of the same attachment in the actual email, with one of those attachments being the file that was sent to FILE....

It seems like this might be a bug or some other issue where it just adds all files created for this particular request to the email... The first file mentioned (2.pdf) is the file that is to be output to the file system, the second (xmlp34854693_2_8.pdf) is the file to be emailed. Almost like it's looping through them and adding them as attachments. I'd open an SR to see if you can get some answers. Definitely post back if you do. -
This is a report of a possible bug. We are migrating from 6.1 to 7.0u2. On our Admin Node, we finished migrating multiple instances from 6.1 to 7.0 so we went uninstalled the 6.1 server components. This uninstall process removed the 7.0u2 services though not the instances from the Admin Node. The configuration folders in the 7.0 folder were not removed so we were able to delete then redeploy the instance. Note that the service name in 6.1 was the same as the service name in 7.0 (e.g. https-xyz). However, we had already used the 6.1 Administration Server to remove each individual 6.1 server prior to migrating the configuration to 7.0.

If I am not mistaken, you probably didn't completely go through the migration log to make sure that what is migrated and what is not. please note that as part of migration all static content files and some other data files are not migrated. you are required to look into the migration log and make sure that you manually move those files into 7.0 location once the automated migration completes successfully. so, if you removed the 6.0 without migrating those static files , then you might see a whole bunch of 404 and other weird errors. Static content files have nothing to do with what I'm talking about. I had a 6.1 installation with a number of "servers" (what 7.0 calls instances). In order to migrate and keep the same service name (e.g. https-xyz), I had to first make a copy of the https-xyz configuration directory, use the 6.1 admin to remove the https-xyz (this would remove the https-xyz service), recopy the https-xyz configuration directory to the 6.1 install directory, then proceed with the automated migration.

Are you aware of a possible bug in version 3.6.23? In the browser, for example, "two/" appears with the slash through the "o". Is this a known bug?
When the same text is view in another browsers it appears correctly as "two/".
I've checked, and the same problem appears in Firefox on another computer.

Thank you.You are on a Mac and that is a [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kerning kerning] problem. Don't you see the same problem in other applications if you choose the same font, font-weight and font-size.
I only find one other kerning [https://support.mozilla.com/questions/789254 question] here -- it is marked unsolved. I find it strange that Firefox got involved with this at all rather than leaving such things to the operating system and font metrics.
Does the problem go away with "command+0" (zero) which resets [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Zoom_text_of_web_pages zoom level] to normal. If you mess with the font sizes in your preferences because you want larger print that would have the same effect.
Also found this one recently reported for [https://support.mozilla.com/questions/892222 Firefox 7 in ubuntu 11.04] which appears much worse. If it involves Firefox and specific operating systems it becomes a lot harder to diagnose who or what is responsible. -
Matrix report not printing report totals

It prints the sub-totals for each product at the end of each group, but won't print a grand total for each product at the end of the report - just displays a grand total for all products. I've tried many ways to try to add a report total for each product but get the annoying below frequency/bad product order errors. I'm using builder 9.0.4.0.33

Report Total lable when "repeat heading on break"
Hi,
I have a report where I'm breaking on the first column, and returning the totals.
When I have "Default Break Formatting", since I am returning totals based on the first column, it says report total under the first column.
However, If I have "Repeat heading on break", the first column won't show as one of the columns in the report, but it will show above the box. Because that first column is not gone, I realized that the lable "report total" is gone too, since there is no space to put it. It is still returning the totals correctly, but there is no lable that says "total" or anything like that.
I wouldn't mind having that label on the second column, or someplace else. Can I do this?

If you want to take advantage of the features that HTML DB reports offer, such as column heading sorting, then writing your own PL/SQL region would not be an option. I was only confirming your observation that repeating headings only works for the first break column and suggesting an alternative approach. So you'll have to decide which is more important in your case, getting the formatting you're looking for or using those advanced reports features.
As for the previous posting regarding new and older versions of HTML DB, HTML DB 1.5 was our first production release, shipped with the Oracle 10G database, and this version as well as HTML DB 1.5.1 offers the same kind of report heading sorting and the same type of column breaks.

These are Webi, user created reports.
Is it possible to schedule a Webi report based on another input, i.e. expose a time in which a process was finished (this can be obtained via a SQL call, service call, etc).
The issue is that if a user schedules a report for 9PM but a process to move data, etc has not completed then that forces the user to keep re-freshing the report hoping that the process has been complete.
Ideally, in the selection UI add to the dropdown for 'when' the option 'Use Process X completion Time' (since it is a daily report).
Then starting around 9PM check to see if that 'time" value is populated then refresh (run) the report. Or it could just be a flag that the process has finished.
User's in the webi environment are asking for this, and moving their reprots to BO is not an option. That's why they have the custom webi enviroment.

Once you have created a file based even in CMC > Events> System Events and made a work around program to delete the file once the event is trigged all you would need to do in webi is in launchpad just schedule > Events > select the file based event from all available system events. Is it possible to create a generic report that accepts the FULL sql statement as a paramater and returns variable results based on this?
We have a requirement to have a generic export routine to spit out csv's from clicking on a web page hyperlink, which would need to accept a "new" sql statement for every run, each containing different columsn etc that would be needed in the output.
I was hoping could have a generic Oracle report, exporting delimited data format (and as such not using a layout) and somehow pass in the "new" sql statement as a parameter at run time - each sql statement would be different with different columns etc.
Is this possible with oracle reports ?
thanksIf you need a simple dump of data you could try writing a report with a simple query such as
select 'Report title or column headers'
from dual
&data_query
then your &data_query parameter could be
union select col1||','||col2 from data_table
If you are outputing a comma separated data dump the you can concatenate together your data into a single text field.
This would allow you to have a simple heading followed by the actual data. I guess you could extend this so that the 'Report title or column headers' from the first query was also a parameter to output your row headings i.e.
select :column_headings_text
from dual
&data_query
