Possible SimpleDateFormat.parse(...) error.

Consider this code segment
SimpleDateFormat sdf = new SimpleDateFormat("yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss.SSS")
String testDate[] = {
               "2005-07-29 16:28:38.83",
               "2005-07-29 16:28:38.003",
               "2005-07-29 16:28:38.03",
               "2005-07-29 16:28:38.3"
          for (int i = 0; i < testDate.length; i++)
               Timestamp date = Timestamp.valueOf(testDate);
               Date utilDate = sdf.parse(testDate[i]);
               System.out.println(testDate[i] + " : "+(date.getTime()+date.getNanos()/1000000)+" : "+utilDate.getTime());
Output is:
2005-07-29 16:28:38.83 : 1122668918830 : 1122668918083
2005-07-29 16:28:38.30 : 1122668918300 : 1122668918030
2005-07-29 16:28:38.003 : 1122668918003 : 1122668918003
2005-07-29 16:28:38.03 : 1122668918030 : 1122668918003
2005-07-29 16:28:38.3 : 1122668918300 : 1122668918003
Now if we look at msecs portion, sdf.parse is parsing .3 and .03 and .003 as 003
But Timestamp is parsing in right way. .3 = 300, .03 = 030 and .003 = 003
I tested this program with ibm jdk 1.3 and sun jdk 1.5 with same results.
Is it known bug of simpleDateFormat or some unknown feature?
Thanks
Ashish

Thanks to reply!!
It makes sense for SimpleDateFormat to behave this way.
I was wondering, if i can retrieve millisecs portion with trailing zeros.. instead of padded zeros. Any setting in SimpleDateFormat?
One way, I am experimenting is Timestamp.valueOf()
Thanks
Ashish

  • SimpleDateFormat parse error

    Hy,
    I've an error when parsing a date with the parse function of the SimpleDateFormat class.
    Date birthDate = new Date();
    SimpleDateFormat sdf = new SimpleDateFormat("yyyyMMddHHmmZ");
    try {
         birthDate = sdf.parse("198012160810Z");
    } catch (ParseException e) {
         System.out.println(e.getMessage());
    The exception Unparseable date: "198012160810Z" is raised.
    I've no error if I remove the "Z" at the end of the date. I've checked in the RFC 822, the Z time zone is accepted.
    Does somebody knows the problem ?

    thegillou wrote:
    Thanks for your response everybody. I'ts OK.
    warnerja : I can't respond to say thank you when I sleep.....you know the timezones..........Sure, but I also know you were answered within 6 minutes after you posted the question. So you really are of the type to post a question and immediately go nighty-night rather than see if there will be replies soon? Hard to believe.
    Anyway, you're welcome.

  • SimpleDateFormat parsing errors

    Would someone please change the code so that SimpleDateFormat will parse a string that is shorter than the format. For example:
    DateFormat format = new SimpleDateFormat("yyyy-MM-dd");
    format.setLenient(true);
    format.parse("2003-04"); <-- throws an exception even though it's valid
    Please insert at line 1089
                   if (start >= textLength && this.isLenient()) {
                        break;
                   }

    But I will need to know the version number and date from the file.
    Otherwise, if we aren't looking at the same file then I won't know
    that the line numbers are the same. It will be best if you post
    the first three lines including this information:
    * @(#)SimpleDateFormat.java     x.xx xx/xx/xx
    * That way I can make sure the code you sent goes in the right spot.
    Otherwise it will be my third strike and I will surely be fired.
    Also, I think it's too late to make it into the next release so
    you'll have to wait a while. Until then, I suggest that it's
    possible for you to write your own implementation.

  • InfoPath 2010 form parsing error with 3600 execution timeout value in SharePoint 2010

    Hi,
    I have a list in SharePoint 2010 with 100 columns where 25 of them are calculated columns. This list is designed by InfoPath 2010 with two secondary data connections to pull a few data from another two lists. There are 25 set value rules with the submit
    button in InfoPath from. At present, the list is containing around 1000 items.
    The problem is, when I published the InfoPath form it throws an error:
    The SOAP message cannot be parsed.
    In fact, the execution timeout is set to 3600 in config file. When I delete items from the list and keep it around 700 the InfoPath form publish then.
    Could somebody tell me why this problem and what is the possible solution.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi pointtoshare,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you got an error when you published InfoPath form.
    Please modify the web.config file like :
    <location path="_layouts/UploadEx.aspx">
         <system.web>
           <httpRuntime maxRequestLength="51200" executionTimeout="300" />
         </system.web>
       </location>
    And modify the <securityPolicy> section like :
    The web.config file is in C:\inetpub\wwwroot\wss\VirtualDirectories\spwebappname.
    There is another reason for this issue, please take a look at :

  • Parse errors while creating a Web service from Java class!

    Can anybody tell me please, is it possible to create a Web Service from java class where the input from user is required ?
    I have the following program, which is successfully compiled, but when I'm trying to make a web service in JDeveloper, the following error occurs:
    "Validation failed.
    The implementation class primePackage.isPrime ofport type MyWebService contains parse errors."
    import java.io.*;
    import java.util.*;
    class isPrime
    public static void main (String args[])
    Scanner reader = new Scanner(System.in);
    int n;
    System.out.println ("Enter a number you want to know is it prime or not");
    n=reader.nextInt();
    if (isPrime(n))
    System.out.println ("True");
    else
    System.out.println ("False");
    static boolean isPrime (int n)
    int i=2;
    while (i<=n-1)
    if (n%i==0)
    return false;
    i++;
    return true;
    }

    Hi,
    Can anybody tell me please, is it possible to create
    a Web Service from java class where the input from
    user is required ?Yes, the parameters of your method will be mapped in WSDL.
    But i've some considerations about your code.
    I suggest you change the name of isPrime do Prime, its a good code convention to put the name of class starting with Upper case. and isn't good the name of class equals to name of method.
    I suggest you to change the "static boolean isPrime (int n)" to "public boolean isPrime(int n)" to publish a method as a WebService method it's must be public and not static. After this change try to generate your Web Service.
    Regards.

  • XML Parsing Error when opening Dreamweaver CS4

    Hi guys, I downloaded a trial version of Dreamweaver CS4
    which was downloaded from the adobe website and once i try
    installing it it comes up with 'please delete current menus.xml
    file and then rename menus.bak file to menus.xml'. Once I tried
    that the new renamed xml file has the same problem as the old one.
    Now, When i opened up the file in Firefox it came up with an XML
    Parsing error. The exact error is as below:
    XML Parsing Error: prefix not bound to a namespace
    Location:
    file:///C:/Program%20Files/Adobe/Adobe%20Dreamweaver%20CS4/configuration/Menus/menus.xml
    Line Number 12, Column 5: <shortcut
    mmstring:name="menus/DWShortcuts_Main_Quit" key="Opt+F4"
    command="dw.quitApplication()" id="DWShortcuts_Main_Quit" />
    ----^
    I am running windows XP SP3. Can anyone offer an
    insight/possible solution? I've already tried the following methods
    which have been suggested by other forums:
    CS4 clean script on Adobe website
    Microsoft installer clean up
    uninstall and reinstall all CS4/adobe products
    deleting Cache.db
    deleting Macromedia folder
    deleting faulty line in menus.xml file
    Is there anything else I can do? Thanks guys!

    1) Close Dreamweaver
    2) Navigate to the Design.xml file and rename it.
    3) Launch Dreamweaver and it will recreate the Design.xml file
    The AppData folder is hidden by default on Windows, so you need to enable the option to view hidden files and folders in order to locate it, as follows:
    In Vista/Windows 7, select Start > Computer > Organize > Folder and Search Options > View. In Advanced settings, choose Show hidden files and folders.
    In Windows XP, select Start > My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > View. In Advanced settings, choose Show hidden files and folders.
    Once you turn on this option, hidden folders are displayed as dimmed icons to remind you to treat them with care.

  • Why do I get parsing errors with my WSDL URL for Web Services usage

    Hi,
    I am puzzled with the errors I get when I want to create a Web Service datastore.
    Scenario: I have created a SAP Web Service from CRM using SOAMANAGER. The WSDL URL produced by SOAMANAGER is accessibile when pasting the URL directly in Internet Explorer. WSDL URL [http://UXCIQ0M.WDF.SAP.CORP:50076/sap/bc/srt/wsdl/srvc_CBDCB34C89C29304E10000000A4282C0/wsdl11/allinone/ws_policy/document?sap-client=504]
    When using the WSDL URL in the Web Service datastore URL field, I get the error An error occurred while importing metadata: WSDLException; faultcode=PARSER_ERROR: Problem parsing: The element type "br" must be terminated by matching tag "/br". (BODI-1111469) (BODI-1112446)
    When I save the WSDL defintion in a local file and use a local file path, I get the errors An error occurred while importing metadata: WSDLException (at /wsdl:definitions/wsdl:portype/wsp:Policy): faultcode=INVALID_WSDL: Encountered unexpected element 'Policy. (BODI-1111469) (BODI-1112446)
    My questions:
    - Why do I get different parsing errors despite the fact that the XML is the same?
    - The WSDL is generated by SOAMANAGER. Shouldn't it work directly when integrating with Web Services generated from an SAP environment?
    - Is this related to confiurgation issue? I have set the Job Manager to Support adapter, message broker and SNMP communication
    - What is the difference between the datastore of type Adapter and the datastore Web Service? In the white paper [http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/20bd5e60-11f9-2b10-2bbb-b5109cceff08?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true] it is mentioned to use the Adapter type to consume a Web Service. It is not clear to me why we have those 2 types.
    Thanks & Best Regards
    Isabelle

    Some updates on this issue, which might help others in the community.
    - Data Service doesn't support ws_policy.
    - SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SOAMANAGER generate WDSL with ws_policy. In future releases, it is possible to specify not to use ws_policy
    - In most cases, replacing ws_policy with standard  in the URL directly, works. It doesn't work with Data Services :(.
    - Replacing ALL ws_policy in the XML directly is currently the only way to have the WSDL definition being parsed properly by Data Services.

  • Parser Error In Portlet Startup

    We have a portlet application that uses Crystal Reports. It uses the spring framework and runs fine in our development environment (Pluto) but when trying to deploy on the production environment (WebSphere) we get an xml parsing error during the startup. Removing the Crystal Reports jars solves the problem but of course the reports portion of the application won't work. So is there a different set of jars for portal and specifically WebSphere? Or is there xml related functionality in the CR jars  and would eliminating them from the lib solve the problem since there may be framework jars that provide the same functionality in the production environment?
    Here's a snippet of the error:
    Unexpected exception parsing XML document from ServletContext resource [/WEB-INF/sys-cfg/applicationContext.xml]; nested exception is java.lang.VerifyError: javax/xml/parsers/DocumentBuilder.setEntityResolver(Lorg/xml/sax/EntityResolver;)

    The only officially tested and fully supported product for Crystal Reports on Portal Servers/Portlets are the JSR-168 Portal Integration Kits supplied with BusinessObjects Enterprise or Crystal Reports Servers.
    There's currently not a fully tested Portal solution for Crystal Reports Java Reporting Component.
    There's no different sets of jars for different Web Application Servers with any Business Objects products.
    Are you able to isolate which XML file contains the problematic schema?  I'm assuming the error message you have does not show this info.
    Other than that, a possible difference is that different XML parsers are being used between your dev and prod web app servers.   I've known issues where the XML parser supplied with Crystal was incompatible with the shared default parser supplied with Web App Servers.

    Ted Ueda

  • 3D data parsing error in Adobe Reader X 10.1.2

    Hello,
    I'm getting the annoying (and once fixed in version 9) 3D data parsing error with reader X 10.1.2 (on Windows 7 64bit), reading files that used to have no issues with previous versions (Italian locale). Hello,
    unfortunately it's a reserved document. I'll try to reproduce the issue with a different design and, if possible, I'll post a link to it.
    Thank you!

  • SQL Parsing Errors

    We are running htmldb 1.5. We have an application running without problems on the development server. When we export the application and then import it on another server (QA or Production) we sometimes get the following errors in report regions that are retrieving data based on a page item:
    failed to parse SQL query:
    ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: NULL index table key value
    The form with the page item is displaying the value for the item, but the reports based on the page item fail. If we go into the htmldb development environment and edit the page for viewing purposes, the problem appears to disappear from that point on. We do not make any changes to the page.
    Is there a problem with the export/import process? Is there a way to make sure the page item has the value expected? We are using DML processing to fetch the record for the page. The fetch occurs 'After the Header'. Should the fetch be 'Before the Header'. Should we force a computation that reads the value into the page item again? If so, at what point?
    Usually we invoke the page and set the page item values with a url that looks like:
    f?p=&APP_ID.:510:#APP_SESSION#:UPDATE::510:P510_CLASS_ID:#CLASS_ID#
    Thanks for your help,
    Peter

    It is not possible at this time. It has been filed as an

  • Why am I getting an Error #1090 xml parser error in IE only?

    Hi,
    I've got a Flex 3 website and I'm setting up an OpenX adServer. Everything works fine if I view my site in Firefox or Safari. The ads are served. But, if I view the site using Internet Explorer, I get error #1090, which is an xml parser error.
    I haven't posted any code as it is long. But, has anyone run into a similar problem, where the error #1090 only occurred in IE? Any general ideas as to why this would happen? Any suggestions or possible fixes?
    Thank you.
    -Laxmidi

    Hi Gregor,
    Thank you for the message.
    I've set-up OpenX on my production server only. I don't have OpenX running on my localhost. (So, if I ran it in Flash 9 debug version on my localhost, it is possible that I could get an error then, as well).
    When I view the production site in a standard IE8 browser, running the usual Flash 9, I get the error. If I view the production site in another browser (Safari or Firefox) I don't get the error. It's weird that the other browsers, don't have a problem.

  • Adobe Designer 7.0 - XML parsing error when data connection to XML with UTF-16

    Hi all
    <br />
    <br />I need to change my data connection xml file to use UTF-16 instead of ISO-8859-1. When I connect the file with the UTF-16 encoding, I receive the following error
    <br />
    <br />Invalid XML: Xml parsing error: encoding specified in XML declaration is incorrect (error code 19) ..
    <br />
    <br />The XML declaration is:
    <br /><?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?>
    <br />
    <br />I am able to succesfully set the encoding to "UTF-8". UTF-16 should also be possible.
    <br />
    <br />Has anyone seen this error before ? How can I resolve this ?
    <br />
    <br />Thanks in advance
    <br />
    <br />Bilal Haniff

    Thank you, expert, for your quick reply.
    Described problem got solved: we noticed later that the extra text only appears for users using Adobe professional 7.0, 'normal' users with adobe 8.0 reader don't get the extra text, so that is ok for us.

  • Can't log in to Apple store; 'plist parsing error' after STATUS_CODE_ERROR

    Two week old 15" MacBook Pro. I had two updates this morning, xCode command line tools and iMovie.
    The xCode command line tools installed and restarted the laptop.
    After that, I couldn't log in to the Apple Store to install iMovie; I got a STATUS_CODE_ERROR in the lower left hand of the login dialog.
    I quit the App Store app, then restarted it, and tried to install iMovie again.
    I still couldn't log in to the Apple Store to install iMovie; I got a plist parsing error in the lower left hand of the login dialog.
    There is an Apple Support Communities string for STATUS_CODE_ERROR that has 1800+ entries, seems to be global.

    same,same
    ..all of mine-  mac book, tablet and macbook pro didn´t connect to i-tunes, app store and so on. >status code error
    May be it depends on selling to much things in too short time; new products!?
