Practical value of the COMPATIBLE parameter.....

Hi ,
The default value of COMPATIBLE init parameter of Oracle 10.2 is 10.2.0. However , why may someone select this value to be 9.2.0 , for example.....?????
I have understood that may be set for downgrading this database only.... as if the default value remains the database cannot be downgraded......!!!!!
Is the above correct...????
Thanks , a lot
Simon

Lower compatibility might be useful when you don't want to use some features introduced in later versions only. Compatibility doesn't mean that you'll get that exact version of DB though, for example CBO will work as in the newest version see more

    Hi,
    Try assigning two values seperated by a delimiter ( say '|') to the same parameter.
    In the function get the parameter value and seperate the values using the same delimiter.
    <param name="QUERY" value="REPORT_TEST1|REPORT_TEST2"/>

  • How to pass multiple query string values using the same parameter in Query String (URL) Filter Web Part

    Hi,
    I want to pass multiple query string values using the same parameter in Query String (URL) Filter Web Part like mentioned below:
    http://server/pages/Default.aspx?Title=Arup&Title=Ratan
    But it always return those items whose "Title" value is "Arup". It is not returned any items whose "Title" is "Ratan".
    I have followed the
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepointserver/HA102509991033.aspx#1
    Please suggest me.
    Thanks | Arup

    Hi DH, sorry for not being clear.
    It works when I create the connection from that web part that you want to be connected with the Query String Filter Web part. So let's say you created a web part page. Then you could connect a parameterized Excel Workbook to an Excel Web Access Web Part
    (or a Performance Point Dashboard etc.) and you insert it into your page and add
    a Query String Filter Web Part . Then you can connect them by editing the Query String Filter Web Part but also by editing the Excel Web Access Web Part. And only when I created from the latter it worked
    with multiple values for one parameter. If you have any more questions let me know. See you, Ingo

  • URGENT: passing more than one value at the same parameter

    Hello friends at www.oracle.com,
    if I have a Forms program that sends some parameters to a Report, how can I send more than one value at the same parameter that is being sent?
    For example: the Reports parameter P_CODE should receive (from Forms) and print the values 1, 2, 3 and 4, each one in a different page. But, only 4 is being printed, and these values aren't saved at a database, so I have to pass the other three values too. How can I solve this problem?
    This is quite urgent and I need help on this.

    hello,
    on the forms side, you will have to build the list for this parameter by e.g. string concat.
    on the reports side you will have to "decode" this parameter according to how you built it in forms.
    e.g. if you pass the list like this "10~20~30" you might use a where-clause in the query
    ... where instr(myCol, :myParam) >0

  • How to pass input value to the IN parameter in a function

    Hi ,
    I'm new to pl/sql programming.
    The below function is used inside a package and the package is invoked in visual studio.
    The function uses 2 input parameters.
    Out of which 'in_report_parameter_id' value comes thru job processor service 's job request.
    The second IN paramter values are hard coded in the function.
    I'm not able to understand this.
    If the values are hard coded , how to make sure that only the hard coded values are the right ones?
    Please anyone could explain to me?
    I really dont have good idea about how to pass INPUT parameter to the functions or procedure
    Is there any nice document which could give me good understanding about what are the ways or types we could pass values to the input parameter in subprograms?
    thanks in advance.

    This is not a design I would use, but should work if coded properly. I would probably build a reference cursor query as text and use one open fetch and close.
    You have 2 input parameters, in_report_parameter_id and in_which. I could not find where in_report_parameter_id was used in the program, but the value passed in for in_which is being used in IF logic to decide how to open the cursor. After the cursor is open rows are being fetched and eventually the cursor is closed.
    The values in_which are compared to are hard-coded. It is the programmer's job to make sure the values listed are the right values and the actions taken are also correct. Your program is assuming that if the first 2 values are not encountered the third one listed is the one you want.
    To pass input values to a procedure you merely provide the values as a literal or variable in the call, something like
    whatever := get_class_text_str(1,'SELECT');

  • The "SignFile" task was not given a value for the required parameter "CertificateThumbprint"

    We have a line of business app which is deployed via clickonce. I can build and publish the application without any problems but when I try to use Continuous Integration (Build each check-in) I get the following error:

    We sign the application (to be more specific: the ClickOnce manifest) using a code signing certificate which is registered in the AD as Trusted Publisher.
    The Certificate is stored in Certificate store on my local workstation. The Certificate is also in the certificate store of the build server (1. In the Personal Store, 2. in the Personal store of the TFSBuildServiceHost Service Account and 3. in the Personal
    store of the tfs/build server itself).
    Where are using Visual Studio 2013 Update 4, C#, .Net 4.5 and TFS 2013 Update 4.
    I have no clue what causes this error, any help is appreciated.

    I installed the

  • Multiple Values in the Return Parameter

    Hi,
    My application has a decision table , with material group, division fields and has agent as the return parameter.
    I need to maintain more than 1 user for each material group/division combination?
    I even tried using return parameter 'agent' as structure and table too.
    Can I maintain multiple entries. I don't want to maintain multiple rows for multiple agents.
    Is this feasible? If yes, how can I do it?

    Thank you Carsten . I did as you suggested. But in the 2nd decision table (result decision table) , it gives me an error saying it has no condition columns.
    Does this have anything to do with the SP , we have SAP_BASIS 701    .
    PS: Your blogs and pdfs have been great help to learn BRFPlus. Thank you.

    Hi,
    >>With the above setting I have yet to get any errors due to cursor limits. A good trade off memory v issues.
    To see if you have set OPEN_CURSORS high enough, monitor v$sesstat dynamic performance view using the SQL below for the maximum opened cursors. If your sessions are running close to the limit, maybe you should increase the value of OPEN_CURSORS.
    select max(a.value) as highest_open_cur, p.value as max_open_cur
    from v$sesstat a, v$statname b, v$parameter p
    where a.statistic# = b.statistic#
    and b.name = 'opened cursors current'
    and p.name= 'open_cursors'
    group by p.value;In addition, I advise you to take a look at your PL/SQL code in order to see if the explicit cursors have been close (if it was the case), or if your SQL code can be tuned ...

  • Sticky bit changes the value of the script parameter 0

    Hi,
    I have a simple shell script:
    #!/bin/sh
    echo $0It simply returns its own name.
    But when I set a sticky bit on this script, it returns
    /dev/fd/3
    Is it like it is supposed to be? What is the rationale behind such behavior?
    I use Solaris 8.
    Thanks,
    Yevgeny

    I have a simple shell script:
    #!/bin/sh
    echo $0It simply returns its own name.
    But when I set a sticky bit on this script, it
    returns
    /dev/fd/3s/sticky/setuid/
    or
    s/sticky/setgid/
    Is it like it is supposed to be?Yes
    What is the rationale behind such behavior?If fixes a race condition for setuid / setgid "#!" interpreter scripts.
    Without it, someone could replace the script file during the small
    window between the kernel's exec of the interpreter /bin/sh and
    the time the /bin/sh shell opens the script.
    The fix is to pass a reference to the already open script file using
    the /dev/fd/N pseudo filesystem.

  • Declaratively set the value of a bind parameter in a view query

    Can I declaratively set that I want the value of the bind parameter in the view query to be the value of a specific field in the current row of a specific iterator in my data bindings? Thanks :D

    Hm I guess I should mention I'm doing the retrieval in Java, using a ValueChangeListenerIn this case, you will still need to bind an ExecuteWithParams action to your page definition and execute it from your ValueChangeListener after supplying its named data.
    In the code spinet, the new value from the ValueChangeEvent is passed to the bind variable.
    public void yourValidChangeListener(ValueChangeEvent valueChangeEvent) {
        // get the ExecuteWithParameters operation binding from the bindings
        OperationBinding executeWithParameters = ADFUtils.findOperation("yourExecuteWithParametersBindingId");
        // setup bind variable using the new value from the valueChangeEvent
        executeWithParameters.getParamsMap().put("yourParameterId", valueChangeEvent.getNewValue());
        // execute
        executeWithParameters.execute();
        // check for errors
        if(executeWithParameters.getErrors().size() != 0) {
            // error(s) occured
    }

  • Oracle 9.2.0.7 vs Oracle 10.2.3 with COMPATIBLE parameter set to 9.2.0.7

    Hi,
    First off, I am NOT an oracle DBA (or even a DBA!), so please excuse my ignorance or errors contained within this post.
    My client is currently planning to upgrade their 9.2.0.7 database server to 10.2.3. Reading through the oracle upgrade documentation, I came accross the compatible parameter, and further more you can set it to 9.2.0.7. I realise that by setting this, many new features introduced in Oracle 10g will not be available - however getting of the unsupported 9.2.0.7 platform is priority.
    Can someone please advise what are the differences between a real 9.2.0.7 database server versus a 10.2.3 (with 9.2.0.7 compatible) server. By setting this will it guarantee sql scripts and external applications continue to work after the upgrade? I.e the list of compatibility issues detailed in the oracle database upgrade guide, will these issues be made irrelevant by this setting?
    Your expert knowledge is appreciated.
    Regards,
    Shan

    When upgrading from 9i to 10g the compatible parameter should be set to 9.2.0. All of the new feature will only be available when the parameter is set to 10.0.0 or higher and the instance restarted.
    Once an instance has been restarted with a compaticble value of 10.0.0 it can never be set back to 9.x.
    Why do you think the upgrade is required if you still want to use the features of 9.2.0.7?
