PRD Down -Unable to start DB from startsap command
We accidently changed the permissions on /oracle/SID/ folder and
after that when we do "startsap" we are getting following error.

DB startup failed
The "R3trans -d" output trans.log with the message and
permissions of $ORACLE_HOME directory.
Furthermore , we are able to start the database by logging into SIDADM
user and database is in open state. However when we do startsap from
sidadm user we are facing mentioned issue.

Unable to start Web_IntelligenceJobServer from CMC
Hi All,
I was trying to start the server Web_IntelligenceJobServer from CMC but it failed giving me the message:
Web_IntelligenceJobServer - Web Intelligence Job Server: Failed to start/stop service on remote machine: Error: Failed to run rexec, error number: 239.
I have searched the web and several forums regarding this error but couldn't find any. Has anyone encountered and resolved this before?

In case your server Operating system is Unix please follow the below instructions:
1. Verify that rsh-server is installed by using the command rpm -qa | grep rsh-server.
If rsh-server is installed, the command will return rsh-server-<version number>.
If there is no output, this package will need to be installed.
2. Verify that rexec is enabled by using the command rexec -l <Enterprise user> -p <Enterprise password> <server hostname> date.
"Enterprise user" is the Red Hat Linux user that was used to install the Enterprise application.
If rexec is operating properly, the date will be returned.
If not, enable it from /etc/xinetd.d.
Enterprise servers can now be restarted successfully in the CMC.

Unable to start tomcat from Windows 98
I just downloaded and installed tomcat on my Windows 98 machine. But when I click on start Tomcat, a DOS window opens and closes imeediately - the server does not seem to have started. I tried pasting this in a new DOS Window:
D:\jdk1.2.2\bin\java.exe -jar -Duser.dir="D:\Tomcat" "D:\Tomcat\bin\bootstrap.jar" start
But then I get the following error:
Bootstrap: Class loader creation threw exception
java.lang.IllegalMonitorStateException: current thread not owner
I have jdk 1.2.2 installed on my machine and JAVA_HOME pointing to this. Can anyone tell me what the problem is?

JayIt's not TOMCAT_HOME, it's CATALINA_HOME
Add
set CATALINA_HOME=full_path_to_tomcat_installation
to AUTOEXEC.bat, or type it at command line before typing startup in TOMCAT_HOME/bin (however if you do this you will lose this variable when you close the command line). Putting it in autoexec is best solution. Reboot.
Probably a good idea to add
set JAVA_HOME=full_path_to_java_installation
in autoexec.bat as well.

Unable to start database in srvctl Command- srvctl hangs

I have 2 node rac database and i am not able to up the database with srvctl (instance name prod1 and prod 2)
database: 11.2
Linux red hat
[oracle@Host1 dbs]$ srvctl status database -d PROD
It got hanged, any one let me know how to troubleshoot this.
Where can i find log or trace file.

MacOS 10.10.3 Glassfish 4.1 unable to start using asadmin
it appears, that Apple have changed something to do with the required user rights on the launchctl dsexec which is used on MacOS with 10.10.3, so that I am now unable to start glassfish from the command line.
what's the fix for this?

There's probably another way but you can always just rebuild the package from the AUR.
Unfortunately, with a fresh install of Arch followed by catalyst-test from AUR, the boot process stops just after the disk check. -
Unable to start from disk while holding C key.
Hi for some reason I am unable to start boot from disk (Mac OS X install disk) while holding down C key. I've forgot my password and cant log in.
Is there any other way I can reset my password? Or format my hd? or even reset it back to factory setting?
I lost my os x disk so i bought one from ebay instead. could this cause me not able to boot from cd?

Another reason may be if the MBP has Firmware Password Utility on.
Is this related to the PowerBook you bought on eBay? You don't seem to have much luck there. -

I can also start the console from the command line using startConsole.cmd.
But, from the console, when I start weblogic, but it is only 5.1.0, not

It will ask for user name / password. Specify the user details that you used at the time of the Oracle BI 11g install. You could also use a ‘Boot Identity File’ -(boot.properties). Check the documentation for more details.
Wait untill you see message Admin server is in ‘RUNNING MODE’.
–> Now start Managed server from GUI
Access WebLogic console from a webbrowser
http://<machinename>:7001/console
Login, Environment > servers > Control > select bi_server1 > click on start
It would take some time for the Managed server to start. Wait untill you see the ‘Running’ status.
–> Now start the OBIEE components from command prompt
Cd bi0104\instances\instance7\bin
opmnctl startall
Note that it’s a possible startup sequence. There are multiple ways to statup.
i am getting all above messages all but not getting oracle process manager up in the services.msc

Unable to start and create new listener

How to Start Skype from the background from command line?
Hello.
My window manager is Evilwm and I am running Skype. If I close the Skype window (the one w/ my buddies listed) the window closes but Skype is still running in memory. On another window manager like Openbox a small Skype icon sits in the taskbar as long as it is running. If I want to start Skype to see who is online I simply click the icon in the taskbar.
Now, the question is...How can I start skype from the command line while it is running in the background?
Evilwm doesn't have any taskbar or tray thingie...
Any ideas?
Any advice is appreciated!

What I wanted to do was call Skype from memory. Under Evilwm I can close a window with ctrl-alt-x (using a hacked version of EvilWm) . After cloasing the window with this method, skype is still running in memory (I can see it when running ps aux). How can I call it out of memory? I don't want to stop the program, start it back up and re login. I just simply want to call it from the background...
Any ideas?

Issue while starting AdminSerever using wlst commands
Hi, I am facing issue while trying to start the AdminServer and Managed Server via nodemanager using wlst commands. I have installelled WebLogic 11g on windows 2008 R2. Mentioned below are the steps that I followed:
1) In Nodemanager.properties files I set following parameters to true. I did this, so that nodemanager can start the server in case of crash.
CrashRecoveryEnabled=true
StartScriptEnabled=true
2) started nodemanager and then started AdminServer from the command prompt as follows:

nmStart('AdminServer')
I dont see any errors but it seems the AdminServer do Not start properly as in the cmd window I don't see any 'started successfully' message - the message remains as *"Starting AdminServer..."*
However in the adminServer logs I see that the status is Running (refer logs at the end) and I can also see it as Running in weblogic console.
I really didnt care if its not giving a success message in cmd window but the problem occurs when I start the managedServer. After starting the managed server in about 10 minutes, there is a stuck thread. (I guess it is 10 mins because Stuck Thread MaxTime value is 600).
If I set StartScriptEnabled=false, and start by directly running the startweblogic.cmd then it works fine.
I am struggling with this for last 1 week, appreciate any help.

Unable to start the weblogic server from windows environment
Hi All,
In our training system we have installed the SOA 11g and it worked fine till today afternoon. We have logged off the admin user in windows account and logged with our login credentials into windows after that we are unable to start the weblogic server.
- Earlier in the DOS command prompt we used to navigate to the path where the startWeblogic.cmd file located and then we execute the command, after that we will able to see the status message as RUNNING MODE in the bottom of the screen, and when ever we deploy an project using Jdeveloper in the weblogic server window some messages will appended based on the action.
- Only when we issue the command to shut down the weblogic server at that time only the command will be back to the path from where we started the server.
- After login to windows with our account, when we tried to start the weblogic server, it didn't throw any error instead of that after running few lines in the command window the prompt was back in to the (D:\Middleware\.....\Domains\bin)path from where we ran the command to start the server.
Please help us to resolve the issue asap.

Make sure that the user which you are using to start weblogic server should be part of Administrator group or the group to which your admin user belongs to.

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.) -
