Presentation Variable in column heading

Hi All,
i have to use presentation variable in column heading. I can use it like @{presentation_variable} . I need to use @{presentation_variable}+15 in column header. what can i do for such a requirement. for example i have to display between 20 to 30 days in column header... 20 will be passed through presentation variable and i need to add 10 for displayng 30.

I want to display presentation variable in column header.
I tried both:
@{p_mycategory}{'My category'} Sales
@{p_mycategory}{My category} Sales
but failed to display neither p_mycategory value nor the default 'My category'.
Any ideas?

I know to add presentation variable in title or narrative text.
The issue is in chart series name.
Assuming I want user to select category, which entered to p_categ.
The lines graph chart should display one line for the selected category and the second line should display the other\total categories.
In the legend I want to mention the name of the selected cetegory and not saying 'the selected category' or something like that.

OBIEE 11g: Use presentation variable in Column Heading

Hi everyone,
I was playing around with sample app dashboards and I saw a dashboard prompt that they converted into a column selector. I liked it and reproduced it in my own sandbox.
I like the results, however, I would also like to change the column heading to clearly reflect which measure was selected. It's pretty clear when you are looking in the dashboard, but once you export the data, it can be confusing which measure was selected.
That is why I would like to use a presentation variable in the column heading section. I tried to do this but it interpreted it as a literal instead of evaluating the statement.
Is there anyway to get a variable in the column heading?

Presentation variable in column formula issue

Hi,
I'm having an issue about putting a presentation variable in a column formula. I'm using obiee 11.1.1.7.141014
I'm adding a text in a formula column where I use two presentation variables: pPeriodo and pAno
pPeriodo invoques the month selected in a prompt and pAno the year. I have to compare different years, so in one member I use @{pAno} when is the selected year and @{pAno-1} when is the prior year.
The result of this (please see the header of the 2nd column):
The problem is when Icompare to next years. So my issue happens when I do an addition to the presentation variable: @{pAno+1}
It doesn't do the sum; it concatenates the value as you can see in the following images
If anyone have a workaround about this, please share.

Presentation variable in column formula errors out

I have a date column which should have 2 presentation variables. From date and To date. I created a dashboard prompt on the date column twice with case statements like CASE WHEN 1=0 THEN CALENDAR.D_DATE ELSE TIMESTAMP '1900-01-01 00:00:00' END . Now i have 2 presentation variables FromDate and Todate for the user to select. I have referenced this in the report using a filter with the condition " date between @{FromDate}{1900-01-01 00:00:00 AM} and @{ToDate}{1900-01-01 00:00:00 AM}
Now i have a column in the report which has a case statement with the following conditions

What is the syntax error? If you make people have to guess or to examine intensely what you wrote, many will pass on your question, which I don't doubt people did.

How to create Presentation variable for columns and to use it in Narrative?

Hi All,
Anybody know how to create presentation variable for a column (i.e., i need to create it in edit formula section itself). And then, I should use it in Narrative section to display that column value. Is it possible? Or do i need to use any other variable for this requirement? If so please let me know, how to create it? This is very urgent requirement.

I just want to create a table that should horizontally display the values like below:
     SUID Tag # :123456               Year Mfg: 2007
     Description: computer corporation FA ID#: 4576
     Model Number: 4569 hESC: #ert

Department: Hematology

Database: OLAP
I think we can create this type of report using either Narrative or Static Text. But I am not sure whether it is possible or not? And also another thing is that sectioning is applied for SUID Tag # column. So, depending on the dashboard prompt if the SUID Tag # retrieves two or more values.
Then the first value for example 123456     and the values for the other columns related to this SUID Tag # value should display in the first page (i.e., page 1). And if the next value of the SUID Tag # for example say 678901 then the values should move to second page that is like this:
     SUID Tag # :678901               Year Mfg: 2008
     Description: Computer Manufacturing FA ID#: 4577
     Model Number: 4570 hESC: #eth
     Serial Number: 78946 Flags: G
Department: Hematology
User: Rehman

How to pass presentation variable in column Fx using GO URL

I want to show a download link directly using go url .
In my dashboard prompt i am using some presentation variable .
those variables i am using in the report's column formula .
When i am applyning the prompt that it is not applying in the column Fx. so when i download the excell it shows same data for all the option choosen.

OBIEE 11G Presentation Variable

Working with two column prompts, and I need one to feed off of the other. I was thinking I need to set one column as a presentation variable, and create sql for the other, so that it responds to the first. The columns are Organiztion and Department. The departments will change based on which organization you select. How do I start this off?

Ok....so simply clicking the box didn't quite work fully. Before I posted this, this morning, I attempted what you suggested. Column 1 = Org Column 2 = Dept. I tried this: select column 2 from table where column 2 = pvcolumn1. And of course I set the presentation variable on column 1.

I would like to show the value the user entered on the column header because the values under that column are driven by the presentation variable.

You cannot put variables in the column headers, as they get considered as text and the same shows in the reports.
However, you can use the session or repository variables in the alias field in the presentation layer.
You should make sure, that in this case, all the calculations are done in the BMM layer and not in answers, for the columns where you will be using the variables.

Unresolved column when using presentation variable in Answers filter

Hi all,
I'm using a dashboard prompt that sets a presentation variable - pres_year. I'm using the presentation variable in a request's filter.
In the 'Criteria' tab, in the filter for the request, I set a year column (YEAR) to the presentation variable via Variable Expr and enter the presentation variable name only. End up with:
YEAR is equal to / is in @{pres_year}
When using the dashboard, the prompt and request all work fine. The problem is when I'm in the request in Answers and I click on 'Display Results' button. I get the following error:
'NQSError: 27005 unresolved column pres_year'
Any suggestions?

I got same error, if i'm using SQL Expression, instead of variable expression in filter section.
make sure that you followed this:
filter on year > Add > Variable > Presentation. Then, give the presentation variable name (which you defined in dashboard prompt) in Variable Expr field , click OK
getting same error when using:
Filter on year column > Add > SQL Expression > presentation variable. This is not right place to give presentation variable.
and, error i got:
*State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 27005]* Unresolved column: "var_Year". (HY000)
so, make sure that you are suing the right one..

OBIEE-Presentation Variable in SQL expression in a Column Filter

Hi,
I have the following:
(1) A dashboard prompt having Month names like eg. October,July etc
(2) I have declared a Presentation Variable by name @{Month}
(3) A report is there where i have a column called 'Scenario' which has values like 'Actual','Budget','LE_Jul','LE_Oct' etc
(4) In 'Scenario' column , i have given in the column filter-->SQL Expression as below:
('LE_'||SUBSTRING(CAST('@{month}{July}'AS CHAR(40))FROM 3))
My end result should be like whatever month name(ex. July) is selected in the Dashboard Prompt, my scenario should be equal to 'LE_Jul'.
I am getting Error like :
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS. Hi all....I have to display presentation variable in a column...
I tried placing @{variable_name} in column formula..
But it is displaying a value 0 ..where the variable carries a date value.
Any suggestions?

Show the period value in column header using Text Variable

We are using Posting Period & Financial Year to calculate YTD & MTD, for current year and previous years. These posting period and financial year characteristics are custom created characteristics we are using due to customer specific requirement.
Input values are posting period, financial year and numeric value. To calculate previous year, I need to subtract numeric value from the input financial year. Every thing is working fine up to this.
In the report I need to show the posting period and financial year values dynamically in each column header of the report for MTD, YTD for current year & previous year. I tried to achieve this using Text Variables, but I didnt succeed. If some one can give me some idea to resolve this, it would be very helpful.
I am excellent in ABAP coding. If you can specify me to code in User Exit, I can do it.
Column headers should be 08.1999 Sales Qty, 08.2008 Sales Qty, 1999 Sales Qty, 2008 Sales Qty.

Try using the content text variables 0T_FYEAR and 0T_FPER3, when used in the head these variable should display the year and period specified in the RKF.
e.g
&0T_FPER3&. &0T_FYEAR& Sales Qty = 08.1999 Sales Qty
If that doesnt work, try creating text replacement path variables referencing the variables you created for the year and period input. To do this click on the RKF and click on the dropdown by the yellow box next to the description on the general tab and select New Variable, enter the description, tech name and set processng by to Replacment Path, then select period as the ref. characteristic, then on the replacement path tab change replace variable with to variable and then select the variable you are using for the period input, save then hit ok, this is now a text representation of the variable your are inputing for period and can be used in the column headers, you will need to repeat the process for the fiscal year.

Variable column header in table control

Hi all, I need a variable column header text in table control. I am doing the following but is not working,
I have deleted the header field that the wizard created me thorugh a internal table, and put a I/O field instead.
I have assigned a variable in the name of this field.
In the PBO I am writing the following:
LOOP AT   i_details
       WITH CONTROL tc_detail
       CURSOR tc_detail-current_line.
    MODULE m_modify.
ENDLOOP.
MODULE m_modify OUTPUT.
IF tc_detail-current_line EQ '1'.
    var1(header column text) = 'text1'.
    var2(header column text) = 'text2'.
ENDIF.
ENDMODULE.
But with this is not working, the rare thing is that the first time that the screen is shown, this value is not appearing. After press Enter or some action, the value appears.
I am not doing anything in PAI. The only code that is in PAI is:
Loop at i_details.
endloop.
Nothing more.

First just drag and drop all the fields that are to be a part of the table control. Then drag the label on the column header. Give name and text to the label.
