Preventing user to not enter Text Cart

Hi.
How is it please possible to stop end users from keying in Carts for Text or Service or Material ID? Our requirement is for users to go to supplier catalog link always and not by Text or Service or Material.
Please let me know if we can do this by roles and authorities in SRM User setup.

As Chris explained,the best way would be to use BADI BBP_SC_MODIFY_UI to hide the link "describe requirement" for creating Text based SC's.

Did you try to find any more details to refine your symptom description? E.g. this sounds like it might be a variation of the one where in IE we see no Edit toolbar but apparently in that case we could treat it like an HTML source edit pane and
then Submit that. I only see those very sporadically. Another possibility suggested by this description ("could not enter text in the body") would be to turn off CSS. I don't know how you would do that using Chrome but in IE you could
use View, Styles, No Style (Alt-V y N ).
FWIW for me the biggest problem that I had in the last few days was related to DNS. I don't know what was going on but in some cases I had to resort to using nslookup's second operand to request a lookup from Google's DNS server (e.g. 8.8.8.8) and
then try to work with the IP address that that returned. I was mostly on Answers where that happened though.

When using firefox beta can not enter text into reply areas on forums.

When visiting vbulletin type sites, the firefox beta will not enter text into the message reply text box. Seems to be only a problem on honeycomb os.

User can not enter value in INPUT field.

hi experts,
i have a table control on the screen which have one input field which user needs to fill. But as per he business req. we don't want him to enter any value, values should be enter from the search help only.
If i make input field Read only it comes in gray color and user get confused. tell me some way so i can create white input field in which user can not enter values from key board.
Please suggest...

This you cannot control. because if it is enabled only in that case you can see it white.
do that thing as suggested by basakar to add a new input field just besides first one with zero padding.
One workaround is use an image instead of real input field. the image should have the input field as image.
and besides it create the input field with width 0 and padding also zero.
i think this can fulfill the requirement.

Validate that user should not enter more than specified number of digits/chars?

First case: I have placed a TEXT field on the form. Now i want to put the below validation,
1) User has to enter only numbers (no decimals)
2) Only 10 digits
If not i need to
1) Alert app.alert
2) Make the field either CLEARIng or considering & resetting only the first 10 digits (if user entered more than 10 digits)
2nd case: Same as above, a TEXT field, but, the data is with a DECIMAL notation, the allowed lenghts are as
2 digits as prefix to decimal
2 digits as suffix to decimal position
example, 35.88
Pls. let me knw the Java Script for these 2 cases or do you suggest me PATTERN validation if so, can i CLEAR or reset and if so, pls. let me know under which TAB(Display / Edit / Data) i need to put the PATTERN validation?

Firstly if you are only allowing numbers then the field should be a numeric field not a text field. You can use patterns to allow only whole numbers or to have 2 digits on either side of the decimal.
In regards to the number of digits you can use the len function to determine the length of the data and if it is too long give a message or clear it.

How do I find the creation date of a pdf file when the user did not enter one (doesn't show up in properties)?

I can't find the stamp in properties, etc.. does not show up. I do not know how to otherwise get the date. This is Version 1.4 (Acrobat 5.x) DPE build 5095

The data is not there at all. My mention of hidden metadata (perhaps confusing) is to emphasise that there IS NO hidden metadata, because that would be a Bad Thing.

ANS: U have to create variable Of Currentmonth with The following
         Process Type: SAP Exit
         Variable Represent: Single value
        Variable Entry: Optional
Check chekboxes for <b>Ready for Input</b> & Can be change in Query navigation.
b) After this u have to give offsets by restricting this variable
2. if user enter months he has to get required months data(from current month)
ANS:
For this U have to use Process Type: User-exit( User Entry)
& After that specify the offsets by restriction.

Enter Text in Price difference line item in MIRO

My user wants to enter text in price difference account line item in MIRO. I tried to do it in MIRO simulation by doubl click on line item. But it does not show as we normally see in FI documents.
Please advise how can I enter text in price difference line item while doing MIRO. Since this account gets posted automatically.

You can create substitution with exit in GGB1/ OBBH
In exit, give a popup for this price difference line item and in that popup user can enter the text and then fill that text in the line item.
Your ABAper should be able to do it.

Look-up to DB after entering text in field

I've been browsing the forum for quite a while now and cannot find the answer to my problem.
We've been using LC for months now but we now need to figure out how to have a look-up to a dabatase after the user has entered text in a field. Based on the text entered, a list will appear which matches the text entered by the user so that the user can choose the appropriate record which will then populate numerous other fields on the form.
Usually, the field the user needs to enter text in is the 'Last Name' field and let's say I enter 'Hill' the look-up would return all last names in the database that contain 'Hill'. The list that appears should also contain numerous other columns of data in addition to the last name (such as first name, middle initial, etc.) in order to ensure the user is choosing the correct person. Once the user chooses the correct person, numerous other fields on the form that are 'read only' will then populate automatically.
In the software we've been using for years we achieve this using an SQL statement, however, have tried to use it in LC and it does not work. I've been able to get the connection made and to have various fields populate with either the first record in the database or a specific record based on my SQL statement, however, I need to know how to not have the database connection execute immediately, but rather wait for the user to enter text in the field and then proceed to filter the records in the database and display all the matching options. If I check any of the 'delay' options it just leaves the fields blank.
Is there a way in LC to make it function the way I need it to? I'm new to scripting and SQL, so please be very specific.

Hi Paul,
Under the sample zip file it gives the following instruction "Use the FormBuilderDB20060929.sql file to build the database, create an ODBC Connection named “FormBuilderDB” and load the form". I've been able to go in under Administration Tools to create a database named FormBuilderDB but which driver should be used? When I'm in LC under the database connection, it doesn't seem to like the driver I've chosen (Microsoft ODBC for Oracle)...should it be another one??? It also wants a User Name and Server.....what should go in these??? Where should the FormBuilderDB20060929.sql file go???
Also, this sample uses a drop-down field initially which is not what I need....the user should be typing their last name in a text field and then when they tab out that's when the link to the DB should be activated and all records that match what has been typed should appear.....is that functionality not possible or is it just different coding required? Perhaps I'm in way over my head on this.

User has to enter a specified number of CHARs length while filling the form

I am developing a interactive form, which got context interface from WebDynPro ABAP. I have a input field on the form, its NAME, i binded it with NAME1 of WebDynPro context, in SAP its length is 35 CHARs.
My requirement is user can not enter more than 35 CHARs in the form, while user is fillling it. So, to achive this,
1) Its enough just binding form NAME to WebDynPro SAP NAME1 attribute of context, then, SAP will automatically take care this?
2) or do i need to put the 35 number lenght in Max Chars field of Object-Field in the FORM?

While binding a field on layout you get an option to specify properties of the field in regards with bound data element. If there you have chosen the property of max chars then its not mandatory to specify it again in object properties of the field. But if you have not mentioned it while binding then it will be required to separately mention in the object property.

How to prevent user from entering zero hours in Timecard

We have a need to prevent user to enter/submit zero hours in timecard. The case right now is user will be able to enter:
Hours Type M T W T F
Vacation 0 8 0 0 0'
and when we run BEE transfer process it created absences with zero hour duration for Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
We try to prevent absences to be created with zero hours or user to be able to enter zero hours in timecard.

How to prevent numericstepper from setting the value to the defined Maximum when a number greater than maximum is entered in by keyboard and user hits the "Enter" key.

I need to set the Maximum so that the use can use the mouse to change the value of numericstepper (and not go over a certain number), but at the same time I have to allow the user to enter their value by typing in the text field. When the user enters a number greater than the Maximum, I disable the "Ok" button of the dialog and show a red warning(error message). The issue is that the user can hit "Enter" and numeric stepper would set the value to the Maximum and the dialog box would close and the rest of code would run. I want the numericstepper not to change the value and keep showing the warning even if the user hits the "Enter".
Note: Setting maxChar does not help since my maximum is 1000, and user might enter 5555
I would appreciate the help.

The issue is that if I set the maximum value of stepper 1 greater than the max value that I want, then the user can select an invalid value(of myMax + 1) when he clicks on the UP arrow of the numeric stepper(which is not acceptable for what I am working on).
I need to preserve the users invalid number, while not letting the user to select an invalid number by clicking UP key.
I noticed that when the user enters a number greater than the Maximum, and then click on the down arrow, it would set the value to 1 less than the maximum. This is not acceptable either.

We are facing issue with shopping cart ( BBPSC01 ) for vendor text \ internal note in " Documents and Attachments Tab" in item detail screen as below :
Suppose we enter below three lines in internal note \ Vendor text as:

They will appear as below :

Line items are getting duplicated. Please let me know how this can be resolved or if any SAP note available ?

1253076 No Vendor Text Exists Incorrectly Displayed
1289174 Vendor text/Internal Note is not deleted
1313904 Extra Line Breaks are added in Approval Notes
After this please republish all of the Templates with the Report
w3_publish_services.
Afterwards the Template Cache has to be invalidated with the
transaction sitspmon -> Tab "Template and Mime Cache" -> Button
"Systemwide".
If you use Proxy Server, you have to empty the cache there as well.
Furthermore the Temporary Internet Data of the Browse has to be deleted.
Retest the scenario and see if the behavior still persists.

Allowing users to enter text into a web page

Hi there,
I'm not at all versed in Java, so I would like some advice on how to do the following in a web page.
Imagine you have a group of four users and they have to be able to give you a response to a question and be able to see what the others have responded.
Basically I want the users to be able to to enter text into the webpage, so that the question can be changed and also so that each person can change their reply (in a space under their name.)
It would also be acceptable if the text was from a predetermined list, ie a drop down list which has a "memory"
Any ideas would be most welcome, thanks in advance!

I think I didn't explain myself clearly enough.
Basically, all I need is a text box which can be edited by anyone who visits the webpage, and which once edited has a "memory" so the next person who visits the page can see what the person before wrote.
I don't know any Java but I'm sure an applet to do this can't be too difficult right?
Perhaps doing it through a text box and a Submit button which then pastes what has been written in the text box onto the page? Or perhaps the text can be chosen from a predetermined list?
