Printing applet display to file

Help!! I need to print the results of an applet to a file as a jpeg, bmp, or any other format. How can I print the JPanel object to a file?

First, you will need to sign your applet, as applets do not normally have the priviledges necessary to write to files...
Once that hurdle is covered, try using an image library such as 'Jimi':
http://java.sun.com/products/jimi/
This will allow you to save stuff as .jpeg files.

[Applet]Printing issue with pdf files on Xerox 4595

Greetings !!
I'm trying to print to a Xerox 4595 printer from a Windows XP station (limited account) using a Java Web Applet.
This applet generates pdf files which have to be printed.
The Xerox 4595 uses a printing queue that is detected by the Applet.
The problem is the following: usually when printing a simple local file from this computer there is a box that asks you your login to let you create a job and then print.
When using the Java Applet, there is no way to have this print box displayed. We have the Java Print Dialog but once clicked on "Print" there is no box displayed to pass the login to the printer and let us print.
Is anyone already worked with Xerox 4595 and experienced such issue ?
How can I, using the Java language and modify the Applet, ask the printer to send me the dialog box asking for the login ? Without this login no jobs are accepted and we can't print the generated pdf files.
I looked on the printer queue settings and it seems that the Xerox uses the IPP to communicate with the local computers in the office.
The server from which the Applet is used is a openSuSE Linux Web server (apache2)
How come using Linux workstations any pdf files are printed (on shared printers such HP laserjet) and under windows there is jammed characters and sheet feed instead ?

A lot can depend upon which app your are using on your tablet device, the same applies to computer programs but apps are much worse.
Which app are you using?
I would try the free Adobe Mobile Reader. This product seems to support more features than other apps.
There could even be issues with the type of tablet you are using. The Apple line may work better then Android devices since there is QA check and approval by Apple.
Another factor is the how the PDF was created.
How well are the maps displayed on your laptop or desktop? Try different values of zoom.

I know print screen on a MBP is Shift + Fn + F11, but I want to print screen as a file. I tried Shift + Fn + F11 + Command but it doesn't work. Does Bootcamp support this feature?

In Windows, you can use a third-party application or a good solution would be to use the On-Screen keyboard included in Windows. That keyboard has got the Imp Pant key, that allows you to copy a screenshot of the whole display.
Then, open Paint and press Control and V keys to paste the screenshot. Finally, close Paint and save the screenshot as a file.
Note that third-party applications may offer you a faster way of doing that

Saving Applet display as an image... Java newb

Hello,
I'm using wirefusion3D to display and configure 3D objects on a website I've been developing. The only thing it lacks is the ability to save out an image of the current display, which I need to do in order to place those images on a pdf invoice.
It does, however, have the ability to include custom java code within the applet, so I would like to create a function that will take a snapshot of the current rendered applet display and save that snapshot as a bitmap image on the server. I'm new to Java (I'm a PHP/Javascript guy), and have had no luck finding anything about how this would be done. I'm not really sure what to search for, as I don't really know what java functions/classes deal with this sort of thing.
I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction.

1. If all the drawing is taking place in one J/Component, you can construct a BufferedImage, obtain a reference to its associated Graphics and call paint/Component passing the Graphics reference as parameter. Then save the image to a file.
2. java.awt.Robot#createScreenCapture returns a BufferedImage which is a snapshot of the screen.

Use Standard Program RSTXPDFT4 in SE38 / SA38 with Sppol Request Number to convert OTF Purchase Order Format to PDF Format.
In order to send PO, your Basis team must configure the system first so that external email can be send out from SAP. If it is not configured, no settings you do on MM will work.
1. You must maintain email address in vendor master data.
2. The same applies to your user master data. For the output type for default values, a communication strategy needs
to be maintained in the Customizing that supports the e-mail. You can find the definition of the communication strategy in the
Customizing via the following path:
(SPRO -> IMG -> SAP Web Application Server -> Basic Services -> Message Control -> Define Communication Strategy).
As a default, communication strategy CS01 is delivered. This already contains the necessary entry for the external communication. Bear in mind that without a suitable communication strategy it is not possible to communicate with a partner via Medium 5 (external sending).
3. Use the standard SAP environment (program 'SAPFM06P', FORM routine 'ENTRY_NEU' and form 'MEDRUCK') as the processing routines.
4. In the condition records for the output type (for example, Transaction MN04), use medium '5' (External send).
5. You can use Transaction SCOT to trigger the output manually. The prerequisite for a correct sending is that the node is set correctly. This is not described here, but it must have already been carried out.
6. To be able to display, for example, the e-mail in Outlook, enter PDF as the format in the node.

Printing email from the file

when I try to print anything from the file in the upper left and choose preview print all i get is just a header and thats all that will print.

To better assist you, would you please provide some further information:
What make/model/product number of HP printer do you have? Guide to finding your product number
How is the printer connected (USB cable, ethernet, or wireless)?
What operating system are you using (Windows 7, Mac 10.8, or Windows 8, etc)?
Are you getting any error messages when you try to print the email? If yes, what are they and where are they displayed?
Is this only happening for one specific email or is it happening for all of your emails?
Do you have any issues when trying to print from other programs?

What You see is not what you get when printing a adobe PDF file

Hi, we use adobe pdf files to send printing of maps to different customers. Quite often a pdf file looks Ok on the screen but printed on paper some lines is crossing the paper which should not be there.
It is easy to reproduce and seems to happen on different computers. Most of them use windows7. If we use another program than adobe for displaying and printing the same file the print is correct.
Is this a bug in print driver or in the Adobe reader which produce the data for the print driver. Most files is created by a thin print solution called UNIPRINT.

The text spacing also frustrates me, but I'm afraid is a drawback of the iWeb system. I always have to go back and re-tweak certain paragraphs that I try to squeeze into a smaller space. I've learned that it's best to allow for a little breathing room with the width and height of the text field. If the text field is exactly the width and height of your paragraph in iWeb, chances are the lines are going to bump down just a hair, creating an extra line of text which will decrease your line spacing if the height is also tight. Does that make sense?
As far as the hyperlinks go, I used to get freaked out because what I thought was the wrong formatting, but what I found out was just the formatting for having visited the linked site.
What iWeb does for those of us who don't know or don't care to mess with html code is an extremely complex process that I can't even begin to understand. And on top of that you add the relative unpredictability of the various browsers and systems that are out there. You have to roll with the punches and figure out these little discrepancies to get the finished product you want.

How to print or Fax a file with SAPscript form ?

+ We have a file (Terms) WORD which is contained in 1 PAGE WORD . Font ARIAL size 5. In Word it is OK , Now our client needs this contents to be printed with the SAPSCRIPT ( Sale order) . We can not extract all of this contents into a page of SAPScript .. We've tried with font TIMES size 8 in SAPSCRIPT it printed in3 pages. So We think of another solution is to print or Fax this file at the same time when the SAPscript is printed. Could you please advise us how to do this ? Supposing that this file is stored in the SERVER .

Refresh applet display in browser.

I have a JSP file which has an applet in it. The applet displays the correct text when the JSP is loaded from the server onto the client.

When the screen loads in browser I see "Hello blimp" in the applet window.
Now I have a public method callMeSucker() in the applet which is called by a javascript function depending on certain action by user.

After the user action I dont see the applet window refreshed with this message "applet refreshed! " . I have alerts around this method call to the applet and they get displayed. This shows that the applet method call is withour error but why is the display not getting refreshed.

This is just a guess, but maybe it is working -- but then the GUI threads call paint() again, immediately overwriting the "applet refreshed!" message so fast that you can't see it. I guess you could call this a conflict between active and passive rendering.
If this is the case, you could fix it by having a field in the applet, say:

Problem with display of files in remote server

hi,
i am trying to display to the files on a remote server using JTree. i am able to display local files and directories using JTree but i don't know how to display remote files. can anyone explain how to do it?

i have exactly the same problem.
Each node of the tree represents a directory. it can be a local or a remote one.
The only difference is the definition of the File class; the TreeNode class is the same for both.
Everything works correctly with local Files and fails with remote files.
Everything means : directory creation, supression, rename, expand all recursive subdirectories.
I can expand each node, even the ones associated with remote files, with user actions (mouse click, key typed) but I can't expand any node by programing.
Each action is efficient on the remote server, but the display doesn't change at all.
Something strange is that when I create a new JTree with a remote file as the root, expand all its recursive subdirectories and then display the Tree, it has correctly expanded.
Is it a refresh problem ?
Please help us, give us a clue...

but after the new installation with this folder is completely empty and I am still
unable to open these pdf.
Does anybody knows anything else I can do?

How do I update a file in an Applet's JAR file from the Applet code

Here's my problem.
My applet is using a serializable history data in which I am storing in the applet's JAR file. When I run the applet, I read the file with "getResourceAsStream()" and run my program with that hist data. When my applet is closed, I need to update this file from my Applet's code and I dumfounded about how to do that.
Is there any way to update a file in the Applet's JAR file through the Java Applet code? (i.e. OutputStream?).
Would appreciate any advice people have.

Just place a copy of the file on the local hard disk and update that. When you start the Applet you try to read from the hard disk. If the file exists then no problem otherwise copy it from the jar to the hard disk.

Does anyone know why after upgrading to Mavericks, Safari will not display PDF files, is there a solution?

I cannot get Safari to display PDF files, it shows a blank screen with the comment that Safri has blocked PDF, however when you unblock it still does not show the PDF, I have had to rely on Firefox for this, which I find not too good. Any help very much appreciated.
