Printing Exception when print to printer on a remote location

<p>Hi,</p><p> I have a weird printing problem for a report created from report designer and printed from a JSP page created using CR4E. Any help or suggestions are very appreciated.</p><p>From CR4E and uses Tomcat 5.0, I&#39;m opening a report created from report designer, and print the report to a specific printer using getPrinterController().setPrinterName(...). We have printers in several facilities on the same network. Printing to network printers in one location works perfect. But printing to a network printer (in the same network) in another facility generates PrinterException. I added those printers to the server and it prints ok from other applicaitons like IE so it probably have access and can connect. I tried to print the jsp page code from Eclipse and it enters the queue but hangs, the print job cannot finish. I&#39;m cluelss now and don&#39;t know where to start to troubleshoot.</p><p> Thanks in advance.</p><p> Celia</p>

Hi Thierry,
Thanks for your response.
I know it sounds like a java printing problem, but I'm wondering if Crystal Report's JRC need any setup before I call setPrinterName when the printer is located under a different IP gateway.
The weirdest of all is after I tried to print from Eclipse, although not suceed, printing the crsytal report to that printer suddenly works.
Is there anything I need to initialize or initiate in order to print the crystal report on a remote printer, and that Eclipse just happened to do that for us?
Thanks,
Celia

  • How can i print to my printer from a remote location

    Is there a way to print remotely to my printer in the office when I am away?

    This depends on your office setup. If the printer is connected directly to a Mac you use at work then you can log into it remotely with Apple's Back To My Mac service (though this may require some firewall adjustments by your work's IT folks to work).
    If the printer is an IP-based printer, then you can set it up by IP address on your home Mac and then log into your work via VPN and print; however, this will likewise require your work to have an active VPN service (this is not difficult to set up, but will require an admin to set up a VPN device).

  • WPF report viewer throws exception when print button clicked when hosted on winform

    When hosted in a winform app the wpf report viewer control throws an exception when the print button is clicked.
    All the other buttons appear to work, any ideas on a work round?
    I have created a sample VS 2013 solution that shows this issue
    As I can't even attach a renamed zip file it can be downloaded directly from here: http://1drv.ms/QxUrZo
    The reason I am attempting to use this control is that the standard reportviewer causes occasional errors in citrix enviroments causing the citrix session to lock up.  This appears to be a relatively common issue and the usual issue of both sides (citrix & crystal) blaming the other for the cause and me the developer needs to find a work round.
    I've 'bodged' in an additional button on our app to export a loaded report to file as pdf then print it but this should not be the permanent resolution.
    BTW glad to see the x64 dynamic parameter issue has been fixed at last, think I reported this over two years ago and again ended up having to work round it.

    Hi Ludek
    A sample project that loads a simple report is available from here: http://1drv.ms/QxUrZo
    The project is called WPFReportHost
    This loads a simple report when run then you can test the basic functionality of the viewer and all will work until you press the print button and then you get the application crash.
    Have to improve my search technique when I googled for other people having this issue I didnt' find the link.
    We've noticed the WPF viewer loads considerably faster and has better functionality than the winform viewer and hope that it might solve the citrix preview issue (yet to be tested).
    So as a work round we've hidden the default print button added our own and call the report print directly as per below:
    using (PrintDialog dialog = new PrintDialog())
         dialog.AllowCurrentPage = true;
         dialog.AllowSelection = true;
         dialog.AllowSomePages = true;
         dialog.AllowPrintToFile = true;
         if (dialog.ShowDialog() == System.Windows.Forms.DialogResult.OK)                     {
              reportDocument.PrintToPrinter(
                   dialog.PrinterSettings,
                   new System.Drawing.Printing.PageSettings(dialog.PrinterSettings);
                    false);
    Would be nice to have a fix

  • When using Back to my Mac can I use a local printer to print from the remote Mac?

    When using Back to my Mac to access an iMac from a MacBookPro all with the latest OS updates may I use a local printer connected to the MacBook to print a document located on the iMac?  If so, how?  It looks like if I try to print it will all happen on the iMac.  Thanks.

    I appreciate that, but it will still list the printer in your local location if things are set up properly and if it is you can print, if it isn't you can't, but you should be able to print it as a pdf, transfer the file to your local computer and print it from their.

    Hi Duane,
    Thanks for clarifying the hardware setup. Using the S-video connection from Hi8 to the DV converter is a good workflow. If you are showing a few errant lines at the bottom, that is a by-product of analog tape and please keep in mind that they are likely in the "overscan" area which normally does not show up to the TV viewer, though you see it in the edit software because you see the full overscan image edge-to-edge. So you probably don't have to worry about that, but if it bugs you, you can use the CROP effect to remove, or create a black title overlay to "hide" that stuff. As you said earlier, you can scale the whole picture up, but that is going to soften the image, not good.
    As for shrinking the picture - this is only helpful when producing HD content (i.e Blu-ray) and mixing in some SD source material. I see this used on HD documentaries a lot. When they need to show some older SD footage, it is shown "actual size" over some sort of background. By showing the SD clip at actual size, it is not scaled at all and keeps it's quality on the HD display. If making a DVD, which is standard definition, then there is nothing to gain from this practice and it would in fact make things worse because you are reducing the resolution!
    For a 75-minute project, I would use CBR 7.0 encoding to MPEG-2 for DVD.

  • How do I send a printing job from a remote location to my photosmart 5514 printer

    I have given my photosmart 5514 printer  an email address. I can print successfully using the wireless network in my house. What more do I need to do to have it accept printing jobs from my iPone or laptop when I am in another remote location?

    Hi,
    You can send an email (including attachment) to its email address and it will print. Please note: it only supports the following format:
        Microsoft Word
        Microsoft PowerPoint
        Microsoft Excel (HP strongly recommends that you preview documents in Excel before printing)
        Text files (.txt)
        PDF
        HTML
        Images (bmp, jpg, png, gif, tiff)

  • Printing - Adding the File Location as a Document Footnote

    Re: Acrobat 7.0 Standard
    Have about 1000 PDF files --- each with a filename that's a specific number, from 1 through 1000 (the number --- aka, the filename --- is the section the document represents... there's 1000 sections in the project)
    Simply put, the main directory of files looks like:
    c:/Articles/1.pdf
    c:/Articles/2.pdf
    c:/Articles/3.pdf
    ...through c:/Articles/1000.pdf
    ===
    Am looking to process the above PDF files using Acrobat --- to print the file's location on my hard-drive as a footnote to the document.
    In other words, looking to take the PDF documents that are in "c:/Articles" ...and then, to process them all by adding the file location as a footnote -- and producing footnoted versions at "c:/Articles/Processed"
    Thanks a lot.

    Do you want the footer to change as you move the files to different directories? If so you can add some JavaScript to each file to the "Will Print" action to add a water mark from text to the bottom of each page with the files location, path or URL. But this solution will only work in Acrobat Standard or better. If you had the Professional version, one could use the "Batch Processing" feature to add the code to each file.
    You could also use JavaScript to add a custom menu bar or tool bar item to add the water mark or inset the code on a file by file basis.

    Can anyone give me advice and idea?
    I want to catch the exception when application goes down by accident for example: Power off, turn off the machine without closing the appliction properly.
    Because I want to notify the server and remove it from register.
    How can I do this????
    Please help,
    Thanks very mich,
    Peter

    Shrubz,
    I tested my application as follows:
    1. start rmiregistry
    2. start rmi server
    3. start two clients
    I printed out the client's object information as below:
    first clinet:
    RemoteObserver is com.ss8.qos.qcsm.policy.policyui.PanelMain_Stub[RemoteStub [ref: [endpoint:[192.168.70.237:4706](remote),objID:[-73a6662b:e75af455a5:-8000, 0]]]]
    second client:
    RemoteObserver is com.ss8.qos.qcsm.policy.policyui.PanelMain_Stub[RemoteStub [ref: [endpoint:[192.168.70.237:4711](remote),objID:[-73a6665a:e75af48703:-8000, 0]]]]
    Now I stop the second client by clicking ^C (ctrl c)
    I noticed that this client has not been removed from the server register (Vector).
    next, I am working on first client for example add one record. After server received this record, it will update all clients who have already registered with server. Because now in the server register there are two clinets (first and second), so it will try to update two clients. The exception will be thrown when server tries to update second client which has already been stoped. I used printStackTrace() to print out the message as follow:

  • NO_PERMISSION Exception when calling secured EJB-methods

    In WL6.1, I have an Ejb with secured methods. The (Swing) client application accesses the Ejb through rmi-iiop using the JDK1.3.1 Orb.
