Privacy for Nokia Mail

Hi all,
I wonder if anybody could help.
I have just started using Nokia Mail on my 5230 and it seems to be working fine. However, I can't seem to find a way where I can log off afterwards and only get back in by putting in a password. If I exit it, the next time I go to the application it goes straight in and shows my inbox with no log in required.
I don't want people to be able to read my emails if the phone falls into the wrong hands.
So can anybody help me on this?
Thanks.
Phil.

Hi chanchukwan,
Thank you for your post and welcome to the forums!
I added my Nokia Mail account by going to Settings > email + accounts, add new account and selected Nokia Mail, input my email address (in the form of [email protected]) and password and it connected me to the service without problems.
The automatically fetched server settings are as follows:
Incoming email server:   imap.mail.ovi.com:883:1
Outgoing email server:   smtp.mail.ovi.com:465:1
Tick both "Outgoing server requires authentication" and "Use the same username and password for sending email".
Let us know if this helps,
Puigchild

  • Nokia Mail For Exchange on Asha 300 doesn't work w...

I'm hoping someone from Nokia might see this and get your developers to make a tweak to the Nokia Mail For Exchange app for Asha 300 (a S40 phone).
The Microsoft Outlook/Office 365 hosted/cloud-based e-mail service uses usernames in the format [email protected]
Unfortunately the Nokia Mail For Exchange app automatically truncates the Username so as soon as you tap out of the field it becomes just "jane.smith". As a result it fails validation.
This is probably a one line code change which makes perfect sense for users connecting to other variants of Microsoft Exchange, but for those of us on Microsoft's hosted offering it's stopping us getting in.
    Thanks!

  • How to use Nokia mail for exchange

How to use Nokia mail for exchange for N82 so that it can push mails for gmail, yahoo.

It appears that what you are looking to do is from another product at Nokia called Nokia Messaging.  Go to mail.nokia.com and setup a messaging account and add the gmail and yahoo accounts there.  Then SMS send the configuration program to your device.  Install it.  it will add all the accounts to your device on install and will send messages to your device.  So at this point you will have Mail for Exchange for you corporate mail and Nokia Messaging for you personal mail ( gmail and yahoo).

  • Nokia 5800 - 'Mail for Exchange' and 'Nokia mail'....

Ok may be a silly question but while looking through my 'installed apps' on my 5800, since i was thinking of 'clearing some stuff out' to make that little bit more memory on the phone (Currently I'm ~ 3/4 full)
I noticed that although MOST of them (games etc) are already on my memory card there's a few stuck on the phone.
Many I guess can't be removed (such as 'Symbian OS' stuff, 'OVI Maps' or other 'OVI Store' stuff) but what about programs that seem to be 'duplicates' (i.e. seem to do the same thing) ??
Why should I have 2 'Map' programs or 2 'Email' program etc ??
In particular - why should I need to have 'Mail for Exchange' AND 'Nokia Mail' installed at the same time. Both are ~ 1Mb each and both seem to be related to 'Getting Emails onto the phone'
Can't I just stick to one one them - say 'Nokia Mail' & remove 'Mail for Exchange' ??
Doinf so will only free up 1Mb of phone memory, but it'll help - or does one program rely on the other ??
    Thanks in advance
P.S. I've just noticed there's a couple of other programs 'In Phone memory' that seem suspicious.
One is called 'Chinese Lion (164Kb Supplier: QTEL) and the other is called 'Diamonds' (102kb Supplier: WANGP) - anyone know what these are ??
    Motto: Illegitimis non carborundum

Most users don't need both, but each has a different purpose which is why both are offered. Nokia Messaging is Nokia's in-house push mail service available for all consumers (currently it requires a certain type of operator subscription, but I understand that is about to change so that it is open to all). Mail for Exchange is primarily for business users whose company uses Microsoft Exchange for corporate mail.
Likewise, you don't need to Maps apps - GPS-equipped phones always have Nokia/Ovi Maps preisntalled, unless youe phone is an operator-variant from a network which has its own GPS service or you bought the phone second-hand from somebody else, I don't see why it would have another similar application.
For general memory management, this post which I made in reply to another user with memory issues may help:

  • No batteries for Nokia Lumia 710?

I am in Perth, Western Australia and I am one unhappy customer
Last Friday I went to Battery World to get a spare battery for my new Nokia Lumia 710 as I'm travelling overseas.
They don't have them. I phoned JB HIFI as I bought the phone from them. They don't have them. On Saturday I phoned Nokia Care. They said they had a shop at Morley (quite a distance from me). They also said go to JB HIFI (I told them they don’t have batteries), **bleep** Smith, Harvey Norman or Telechoice. I went to each of these, they don’t have them and never have, nor did they give any indication that they ever would have them.
I went to the Telstra Shop. The chap kindly looked up the address for Nokia Customer Care here in Morley, Perth, Australia – he commented that I could not phone them because their phone number was no longer on the website. Therefore there was no way of my checking that they had a battery before I went there. I drove quite a distance to Morley. When I eventually found the business I was greeted with Business Hours 09:30 to 17:30 Monday to Friday.
When I returned home I phoned Nokia Customer Care. I told them I had driven to the business and it was shut and it would have been nice to have been told that before I drove there. They told me that’s quite right they are not open on Saturdays. I was once again told to go to JB HIFI, **bleep** Smith, Harvey Norman, Telechoice. I told them they had already told me that and I had already established and told Nokia Customer Care that they did not have batteries and never had them.
I was told they would send through a query (?to God) and I would receive an SMS in 24-48 business hours as to whether there was a battery available at Nokia Customer Care. Today I received a voice mail telling me that there are no batteries available at Nokia Customer Care at Morley. Once again I am told to go to JB HIFI, **bleep**  Smith, Harvey Norman, Telechoice.
I feel like I have been sold a phone for which there are no batteries. With every other mobile phone I have owned I have always had a spare battery, especially when travelling overseas. No wonder it was “cheap”.
I am now faced with travelling overseas with a phone for which there is no possibility of purchasing a spare battery.
I sincerely hope that no-one is buying these phones to run their business with.
I am extremely disappointed and I would advise that nobody purchases this product. Which is a shame since I was happy with the product. It simply never occurred to me that there were no replacement batteries for this product. If I had known that I would not have purchased it.

    Hi rednomad,
Thanks for your contribution and thanks for posting.
Sorry to hear you are having a hard time finding an additional battery for your Lumia 710. The Lumia 710 uses the BP-3L battery which should be available through any Nokia Care Point. A list of Nokia Care Points in Perth can be found here. If the battery is not available they should be able to order one for you.
Also if you search for 'Nokia Lumia 710 Battery BP-3L' on the web you will find a number of sources within Australia which will be able to provide you with this battery model. Make sure though you buy an original Nokia battery.
    Hope this helps,
    Kosh

  • NOKIA mail not working in OUTLOOK and MOBILE PHONE

Webmail is working without problem. It is impossible to create my OVI-account in Outlook or in my NOKIA-phone (E7).
Is there a problem accessing my mails from OUTLOOK or my mobile phones. It's working for another account.  My password is OK (I'm accessing my mails from the webmail).
    Please help me.

Although Internet works, Nokia Mail uses another configuration account. Therefore, please, double-check Nokia » Menu » Configuration » Active. Which network operator do you use, in which country?

  • Nokia mail version 10.1.0.13

I updated my nokia mail version10.1.0.13 on my nokia 5800. Earlier version had an option to set 'max attach. size (kb) when i went to settings/what to sync?/inbox and that allowed me to download the complete mail. Now that option is missing. Only option that is available is 'email download size' and even though i have clicked full message, the attachment does not download automatically which was not the case earlier when the option to choose 'max attach size' was available.
I have reinstalled this new version 3 times but this option is still missing. Is there a way to revert to the earlier version or what is the solution? This is urgent.
    Please help.

  • Please fix Nokia Mail powered by Yahoo

  • "Email for Nokia" Not Working Properly after Firmw...

The "Email for Nokia – 10 Accounts" also called Nokia Messaging does not work after firmware upgrade.
I upgraded my E63 firmware from 400.21.13 to 410.21.10 (the latest).   After upgrade, I installed the Email software, ver 9.07(2), from Ovi store.  The problem starts after I entered my email address and password.  The software imported the email account to the Communication --> Messaging  folder (where you used to read your text message). Before upgrading, the email software manages all my email accouts and synchronise up to 10 emails.  Now that nice email software and user friendly interface no longer show up.  Instead it uses that poor design Communication --> Messaging folder.  It only allows maximum 2 email acct. auto retrieval and NOT working with yahoo mail.
Please advise how can I get eh Nokia email works again.  thanks

Very upset with Nokia's tech support service, taking so long not calling back after contacting them.  Finally I found a work around.  After reinstall the email software, setup a new email account never used with Nokia email before.  Then the software will setup correctly instead using the messaging folder.  This is a bug with the Nokia email software and the new firmware.    OR the Nokia email software is intended to do it that way because it's a trial version.  It just let you try it for the first time of installation.

  • Communication Error in Nokia Mail in C3

Hey all, I had got Nokia C3 a month ago and updated in to latest version everything was working fine till yesterday.
At yesterday morning my Nokia Mail stop working whenever I try to open my accounts it keeps showing loading and then shows COMMUNICATION ERROR TRY AGAIN LATER.
My all other apps are working very fine, Nokia Communities is running, all internet apps are also running but just Nokia Mail is not working.
I tried every thing, formatted phone and card, made hard reset by *#7370#, Reset Factory Default but nothing worked

    Hi,
If you are trying to use Wi-Fi, but without a valid SIM card, it will not work (although data can be transferred over Wi-Fi, a valid SIM card is still required for Nokia Messaging).
Please  switch to the cellular reception with a SIM card and a valid, appropriate Operator data plan.
If you are using cellular reception, but still can not connect, please check that the correct access point on your device. Select Menu > Settings > Configuration > Preferred access point; Choose your operator access point.
Note: Access point name  is used to identify a general packet radio service (GPRS) bearer service in the GSM mobile network.  The Access point name defines the type of service that is provided in the packet data connection.
How can i use always WLAN connection on my Nokia C3-00 phone for Internet instead of GPRS?
Select Menu > Settings and Configuration > Preferred access point — View the saved access points and choose the preferred WLAN access point.
Menu > Settings > Connectivity > WLAN > Internet Connection :Ask first
you are asked for the connection method every time you open an application that requires an Internet connection such as Browser or Mail.
    I hope it helps.

    hi mate,
have you checked via nokia Suite on your PC if there are any firmware upgrades available for your phone? if there are any, please update to the latest version offered. failing that, you can try re-installing your current firmware thru Nokia Suite.
if that doesn't work, then you need to take your phone tro Nokia Care for inspection: http://nokia.com/support

  • Nokia Mail - "Other" Account Setup Not Working

Help.  Nokia Mail Other/Manual Setup Not Accessible.
A previously manually setup IMAP account got deleted from my C3-00.
It is an account that requires manual setup, but when I tried to set it up again under "Other" the Nokia Mail App will no longer let me.  It had been working before and I inputted manual settings when it was previously set up.
Now under "Other" instead of going from the mail address and password screen to the manual setup (POP3/IMAP) screen it just says: "Could not sign in. Try again."
The email address is on the @mytyndale.ca and I need to input these settings manually:
IMAP setting:  Server name: pod51011.outlook.com  // Port: 993 // Encryption method: SSL
SMTP setting: Server name: pod51011.outlook.com // Port: 587 // Encryption method: TLS
Please help or fix this for me.
If there is a way to force manual setup that I am missing let me know about that.
NOTE: I was able to get the account setup by putting in an incorrect email address and then putting the correct login information in the manual setup  set up sceeen.  But Nokia Mail will not let my change my email address after the setup has been made.
    Phone Model: Nokia C3-00
    Firmware: 08.63
    Mail Revision: 2.0.24

SunshineBC, on your desktop computer, when you go for webmail.eastlink.ca, are you able to login with your password? (double-checks we are using the right credentials). Are you able to log-in via webmail.dccnet.com?
Now, let us double check the origin of your request (IP address outside of Canada). Please, try the same from within the Nokia browser of your phone because it does use a proxy based IP address. Does it work? If yes, please, try Opera Mini as well – because that useses yet another IP address. In all these browsers (yours on your desktop, in Nokia browser, and in Opera Mini), please, check your IP with my-ip.mobi. Please post your IPs and results (worked, did not work) and I check the location of that IPs if there is a did-not-work. Perhaps Eastlink has an outside filter in combination with some passwords – the procedures above checks that.
